Staff are amazing, they made us feel so welcome. Loved the whole feeling of the place stayed 3 nights and parked our vintage cars there. Great for taking an old car to on a tour of Scotland, very safe. Food delicious. Rooms clean and comfortable. Dumfries and Galloway so pretty great for driving through. We will be going back, one of my favourite hotels!

This is seriously my happy place. I travel to the area with work and usually stay in Dumfries, but one night decided to come just a few miles outside to Mabie house. As I drove up the tree lined approach I started to feel ..... calm. When I entered the wood panelled hallway I felt .... safe and at home. The building and gardens are like nowhere else I have stayed. Just a wonderful sense of peace. I am waxing lyrical I know. But this place deserves it. Dinner is superb: tasty and generous portion. I've since been back multiple times including for a personal holiday with my dog. Many of the bedrooms are huge, like the size of a whole flat. All are spotlessly clean. The furnishings are not bling, and not particularly modern, but everything seems just perfect. You are lucky if you find this place.

Such a lovely experience. Stayed here as two couples. I can honestly say that I have never felt so relaxed at a hotel. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. Rooms are clean and comfortable, I slept so well. Breakfast and supper very good and the setting was superb. We took our vintage cars and they were super safe with lots of space for parking the trailers and trucks for them if needs be.

A lovely friendly hotel in fabulous grounds. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant and we had a wonderful stay as did our two greyhounds. The food was excellent and the service perfect - thank you we will definitely be back to stay. We always call on our way for lunch further west but hadn’t stayed before ; we will definitely do so again 🥰

Tonight we had dinner in this marvellous restaurant in a beautiful location. It was very hard to choose a starter and main course because there were so many interesting suggestions on the menu. Food was good and a friendly young woman served us well. Two suggestions, port isn't a spirit so shouldn't be served in a small spirit glass but in a small wine glass. Dessert is way too big after 2 courses. My husband had a cheese board that came close to a ploughman's lunch and I had a hugh sunday I probably couldn't have finished after just one course. We can eat a lot, but this was way too much. Maybe you can serve smaller size desserts next to your big ones? I felt guilty leaving half of the dessert untouched. But still, if ever we'll visit this area again, we will definitely book a table.

Quaint hotel in the countryside. Very friendly staff and fantastic food. In my bedroom there were sadly no curtains or blackouts, just a slatted blind so there was too much light on a June morning.

Such a beautiful old manor with a great authentic feel to it. The room was huge, and the staff friendly. The food must have been the best we had on our trip, their chef has a gift for sure.

OK... So I am local but first time I've been here for a light lunch with my mum after a little walk around the forest. Very welcoming, sat down in an empty room with tables and chairs. No windows open, today it's 23°. On the website it says "muddy boots and bums welcome" the restaurant is posh and carpeted, I was in shorts and tshirt, completely out of place. Felt like commoners in a posh place. Anyway, was too hot to sit inside so asked for outside seating, taken to the back area which was lovely and quiet. Had to put this heavy parasol up myself.. Waited around 25 mins for a baked potato and a sandwich. Half way through eating a dog comes over, doesn't bother me, we love dogs. BUT then decided to poo under our table. We told staff, they said it's their dog. We had to move tables obviously and no one cleaned up the mess. Horrified. Food was okay, nothing special.
