"Why we love it: An intimate resort for those seeking privacy and relaxation The Highlights: - Kitchens that come stocked with groceries upon arrival - Private outdoor hot tubs in every room - A stunning location overlooking Magazine Beach The Review: For those looking to get away from it all, this hillside resort is secluded and small, with just seven villas. Done up in rattan, wood, and bamboo, accommodations come in one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations and feature considerable outdoor space, complete with a hot tub, lounge chairs, and epic views of Magazine Beach below. Inside, there’s plenty of living space and a kitchen that comes stocked with basic groceries upon arrival, so guests never have to leave their rooms. While Maca Bana can seem a bit hands off, it’s ideal for those seeking a home rental situation that still includes hotel perks like housekeeping, an airport shuttle, and babysitting. Should you want more assistance, the friendly staff will also gladly lend you a local cellphone or help you arrange a taxi or tour. Though grocery delivery is available to all guests, the hotel also runs a restaurant and bar called Aquarium down on the beach. Head there when you tire of cooking for yourself, or on Sundays, when the restaurant hosts a beach barbecue with live reggae, fresh lobster, and jerk chicken. Otherwise, spend your time lounging by the pool, snorkeling off the private beach, or just relaxing in your room."

Well what an absolutely delightful villa. We stayed at the very top with panoramic views across the bay. It was complete privacy and beyond stunning. The room had everything you could need to be self sufficient and they stock the fridge with breakfast goodies. Eggs, bacon, bread, butter, yoghurts, cereal, fruit, orange juice and tea/coffee. We had a hot tub overlooking the bay. See pictures. And there is also a lovely pool also overlooking the bay, which we had almost exclusive use of. They also have a same day laundry service and the clothes smelt divine after ☺️. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Close to other bars and restaurants and above Aquarium bar and restaurant which was exquisite. Probably at the higher end in terms of price and venue, but they do great food and cocktails and an infamous BBQ on Sunday with live music which a colleague in London recommended me. We loved it. Such a wonderful gem of a place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and another ⭐️

It's in a good location and the staff were helpful enough, but our room was quite tired and very much in need of a refresh. The hifi only played CDs! The restaurant is good and the beach is lovely too. We also stayed at Mount Cinnamon which was about the same price but which was more to our liking.

First, Joanne, the manager, a couple months prior was very helpful with resolving an issue we had with Expedia, and then finding us a deal with a local rental car company. In addition, she was very pleasant to deal with upon check-in. We had one of the two one-bedroom villas at the resort. It was on a cliff overlooking Magazine Beach, and we could see up the east coast of Grenada to St. George's (where you could see the cruise ship that docked each day). Low 80s when we went in February, but a constant breeze outside our room. More ideal weather on the deck outside the villa could not be imagined. Not sure if the larger villas behind us had the same breeze. | We had a bedroom, a large kitchen, and a large bathroom in our villa--perfect for the two of us. There was the outside deck as well as a more secluded patio as well as a hot tub. They stock your fridge with some staples--milk, bread, eggs, OJ, ice, coffee, etc--which will hold you over for the week or until you get some additional items at the spice market or supermarket.| Grounds are nice and parking is convenient. You walk down through the resort, and through the affiliated Aquarium Restaurant to get to the beach. Not many people at this south end of Magazine Beach, so there is little competing for loungers. The resort will give you snorkels and fins. I'm not a big snorkeler, but you could see lots of fish close to the shore. Others were snorkeling further out. It is a steep incline from the beach back to the resort--not an issue with us--but only mentioning it for people with mobility issues. It is ridiculously near the airport, about a one-minute drive. But the flights are so infrequent that noise from the airplanes is not an issue. (Take offs from some of the smaller planes is drowned out from the sound of the ocean waves.) We encountered no mosquitos or bugs; maybe that's more an issue in the rainy season?| We understand the owner of Maca Bana lives on the premises; he also owns the Aquarium Restaurant that adjoins. The menu is of the "international" resort kind--we generally want to explore an island for local cuisine, since that's our taste. Though, we did eat there the first and last night and enjoyed both meals. (The owner even bought us a round of drinks the last night, knowing we were staying there. Staying at Maca Bana seems to get you preference in getting booked at the Aquarium even if they are supposedly filled up.) The restaurant does have wonderful ambience, being right at the beach, and it seems to be popular with locals for birthdays and date-nights. We also had cocktails there in late afternoon, and after-dinner, different venues, but both wonderful, even if you don't eat there. I don't understand any complaints about the service. We had nothing but friendly, attentive service at Aquarium. (The only thing we noticed throughout all of Grenada, you have to ask for your check. Otherwise, we surmised, they assume you want to stay indefinately.)

We spent a delightful week with two other couples at Maca Bana’s three-bedroom Coconut Villa. The resort itself is breathtaking. Nestled on a hillside overlooking the pristine Magazine Beach, it offers an unparalleled blend of luxury and natural beauty at an incredible value. The resort features a collection of intimate villas that provide a serene, private retreat and the Aquarium restaurant where one can enjoy a plenitude of delicious ambrosial delights and island themed cocktails only a few short steps from the beach. The accommodations are clean, modern, well-appointed and spacious. We stayed at the Coconut Villa, the largest, three-bedroom villa that perfectly accommodated our party of six. We enjoyed the use of a fully equipped kitchen and an expansive deck with a private hot tub that allowed us to unwind while soaking in the breathtaking views of Magazine Beach and the picturesque coastline. The resort’s proximity to Magazine Beach – beautiful and less congested than most - is a significant benefit. A short stroll through Maca Bana's well appointed gardens led us to its pristine sands where we relaxed with delicious island cocktails and swam/snorkeled in its crystal blue waters in relative privacy. A review of the Maca Bana would be woefully inadequate without recognizing the superior, attentive service provided by Joanne, the property manager. She gave us restaurant recommendations, arranged grocery deliveries, connected us with a driver to transport us around the island (ask for Chris for a memorable experience) and was available to assist us on short notice to ensure we had a memorable stay. Her gracious hospitality was one among many highlights of our vacation. In summary, Maca Bana offers a luxurious escape characterized by its beautiful beachfront accommodations and the outstanding service of its attentive staff. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway or a tranquil retreat, the Maca Bana will not disappoint.

Came here for dinner at the Aquarium. Had lunch here the day before. Menu is decent and the customer service can be better. Crazy steep hill at the entrance but the views from behind are spectacular.

We live in the Caribbean so pretty picky, but we chose here for our anniversary. View from our suite was amazing, we loved having cooking facilities for breakfast although the restaurant Aquarium was excellent. Small but very well equipped kitchen.||Hotel was very accommodating with providing foods for first morning, adapting to our allergies/preferences. Wen we had an issue with mosquitos (had rained a lot just before we arrived) they quickly sprayed the area and provided us with interior bug repellent device.||If you sty on the hill, be prepared for a good leg workout on the way back to your room from the restaurant/ beach bar!

Maca Bana is perfection! This small luxury hotel is perched on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean. My lovely villa had one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever encountered in my nearly 60 years of world travels. My villa also had its own outdoor jacuzzi, huge deck, and full kitchen. Joanne, the concierge, and Uli, the owner, are terrific! They are veterans of the island and have all the resources one needs. The Aquarium Restaurant just at the foot of the resort’s hillside villas and the outside seaside bar are also owned by Uli and are a huge amenity of the resort. Great food, two large bars with extensive wine cellar, and full staff are available daily (except Mondays), and fantastic live music is presented on designated days. The beach (Magazine Beach) is one of the most gorgeous and pristine on the planet, and the swimming is sublime. Maca Bana has the huge advantage of being off the beaten path of tourist-laden Grande Anse, but is still very close and convenient to all points on the southern side of the island. What a fantastic place! I can’t wait to come back!

My friend and I stayed in the Mango villa which was enormous and had the most amazing view and a hot tub on the deck. The beach that Maca Bana is on must be the most beautiful on the island. And the restaurant, Aquarium was absolutely wonderful. Really fabulous food, the best wine cellar on the island and all in the most beautiful setting. But what sets Maca Bana apart are the people who work there. Joanna, Uli and Josh went above and beyond to look after us. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Grenada.
