First time in New Orleans, planned to stay here for 3 nights but ended up staying for 5. Mainly because he owners, Lauren and Daniel are such excellent hosts. Great advice on where to go and what to do, nothing better than a local to give you advice. The hotel was quiet when we were there so Lauren and Daniel sat with us a breakfast and helped us plan our day. Rooms spotlessly clean. All of their suggestions were spot on. Good little pool with sun deck, unusual for a B&B. We visited the WW11 museum which is outstanding but allow at least 4 hours for your visit. Burboun St was a disappointment, but go to Frenchman St for great music and food. Try 30/90o bar for music. Highly recommended and within walking distance, is the Lounge (best ribs ever). Another reviewer spoke of the area, we drove down from Houston and arrived about 6pm, we were slightly concerned as the area has some building with a lot of graffiti on them, however they are being developed and the owners said the area has changed a great deal over the last few years, and is becoming one of NO sought after places to live. Its abut a 5/10 minute trip by uber/taxi into the French quarter. Altogether a great place to stay and would highly recommend.

Our extended family booked this wonderful bed and breakfast for several days in March. Lauren and Daniel went beyond our expectations and were not only flexible and responsive to what we needed, but also are bountiful cooks and excellent at offering ideas and places to tour and discover. Their place is beautiful and comfortable, and the outside grounds and pool are beautiful, creating a serene space in the heart of the Bywater. Highly recommend for families as well as for couples who want to enjoy NOLA and all it offers!

We had a surprise 70th birthday party weekend with couples and families. The house comfortably accommodated everyone with plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms. There were lots of outdoor spaces to relax and play -- two levels of porches, a back patio area, an outdoor bar, pool chairs, etc. The kitchen was great for prepping meals. The outdoor bar kept the adults happy, while the pool kept the kids happy. Well, actually, everyone was happy! Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Lauren and Daniel's place! We stayed in room 1/the master suite for two nights and appreciated the comfy bed, high ceilings, and private balcony. Lauren and Daniel were very available but also gave us our space. They were fun to talk to and all of their recommendations were spot-on! It felt like staying with friends who also cooked us delicious gourmet breakfasts. I'd gladly come back to book a single room when available or to bring a group and rent the whole house. The place is in a great neighborhood that's reasonable (30 min) walking distance to the French Quarter along really fun streets to explore. You can also pick up a NOLA blue bike (pay by the minute rental) right across the street. Lots of great restaurants, bars, coffee shops to visit right in the area. The place was also very affordable, great value compared to other options. Highly recommended!

Arrived here after a quite stressful journey from Vicksburg. Hit one large traffic holdup in Baton Rouge and another one entering New Orleans. Area appeared a bit run down, so it was with a bit of trepidation that we approached the house. But you receive such a warm welcome from Lauren and Daniel that any worries are soon forgotten. Lovely house. Our bedroom (in main house, other rooms in annex) was smallish but cosy. Breakfast was good. Curtis, the chef, is very accomodating if you dont like what he has prepared besides being very nice and friendly. Outdoor area is great. Nice little pool and good sun deck. Bar with honesty box ! Lauren and Daniel are really lovely people. Always ready to have good chat, whether in the bar area or out on the stoop in the morning. Few places to eat in neighbourhood. Would recommend The Joint. We always got a taxi in and out of NO (only $12-15 each way). Two reasons - one, the traffic is horrendous, two, it is at least a half hours walk. New Orleans is a great place. My third best place in the world (just behind New York and Sydney). It is absolutely buzzing. The music is superb. Even the music being played in the shops ! Bourbon Steet is amazing. We went there early afternoon to early evening, so dont know if it gets too rowdy later into the night. Great jazz in Maison Bourbon. Would certainly go back to NO and would stay at Maison de Macarty. Lauren and Daniel are the perfect hosts.

This place is an absolute gem. My husband and I have stayed here several times over the past few years. We were admittedly a bit nervous when we heard there was new ownership in the past year or so since it was such a special place for us, but Lauren and Daniel totally exceeded our expectations. They have done a great job of maintaining the character of the place, while updating where it matters. If you're visiting NOLA and looking for the perfect mix of unique local flavor, great hospitality, historical feel, with a delicious breakfast (seriously, so good!) and gorgeous pool and garden, but still with modern features and convienences, at a reasonable price to boot, this is the place for you. We can't wait to come back and visit! Highly recommend.

This beautiful inn outside of town in the bywater district was a wonderful base to venture out from. The owners , Lauren & Daniel were great hosts plus Lauren made us wonderful breakfasts. Great backyard area to relax with wonderful bar and pool area. I would highly recommend this inn as a base on your visit to New Orleans.

I never write online reviews but wanted to make a special effort to do this. This place is phenomenal. The only negative is the distance from the French Quarter and attractions. It is within walking distance, but it took us about 40 mins and we were told half way through the trip that the area we were walking through wasn't the safest. On the other hand, the bywater area where b&b is located also has it's own flair and local personality that I'd recommend to anyone. It's worth staying there and getting a cab. When we arrived, Kurt fixed us drinks, and we were given a grand tour of the house and made to feel so welcome! The breakfast is phenomenal and everyone is super, super nice!!!!! Would highly recommend to anyone. BTW- It's also gay owned and operated but lots of straight couples were there, too!

Yelp
I stayed in Room 5 overlooking the courtyard and pool. Comfy bed. Spacious bathroom. Quaint fixtures and furniture. My room had ample seating, a nice little flat screen TV, an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, etc. The view out of my windows was of the lovely trees in the courtyard. I was given complimentary bottles of water, cookies for snacks, and a daily hot gourmet breakfast with juice and coffee. Most bed and breakfasts just put out some croissants and fruit and call it good but not here! Most importantly, there are no crazy French Quarter frat boys shouting "I'm so DRUNK!" No police sirens WHOOP WHOOP-ing either. There are no panhandlers asking for your change. There aren't even any barking dogs in the neighborhood. I didn't even hear the chickens at the house two doors down. Just blissful, secure, safe, quiet. This bed and breakfast has everything you could wish for. Our hosts gave us cell phone numbers that were good to call 24.7 for help. Need someone to give the cab driver directions? Call. Need help finding a jail bond place to get you out of trouble? They'll try to help. Need to know where to go for dinner? Call up and ask. I didn't need to call but it was nice to know that I could call a local if I got stuck. Would I stay again? Absolutely. I loved the historical charm, hot breakfast, and the extra level of care that this establishment provides.

Yelp
My first trip to Nola and staying at Maison de Macarty made it the best trip in the world! My husband and I wanted a place that held all that New Orleans culture and history and southern hospitality and boy did we get all of that and more! When you first walk in to this late 19th century home you immediately feel like you've stepped back in time. The home is perfectly renovated to maintain the house's style and structure of its original build but also has modern conveniences. A/C and heat in each room, perfect water pressure and eco friendly amenities. We stayed in Room 3 in the main house. Pool and backyard are a perfect relaxing getaway when you need to recoup from the previous day/night in the French quarter! Kurt is the co-owner and operator of the B&B and he was a perfect host and wonderful company during breakfast. He accommodated all our special requests and with a smile. He's put his blood, sweat and tears into this place so it means the world to him to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Oh and the breakfast!!!! So delicious. Curtis I think is the executive chef's name? He floored us with his simple and bursting with flavor dishes. I will definitely be back to New Orleans and I will ALWAYS stay here!

Yelp
We love the Maison de Macarty! We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and have enjoyed French Quarter luxury hotels and condo rentals throughout the Marigny Triangle and the Bywater neighborhoods. Comfortable, unpretentious, and relaxing while showing off a bit of southern grace and charm, the Maison de Macarty has the right 'vibe' for us. We have stayed here twice, once in room 1 (their largest) and once in room 5 (a smaller room): - Room 1 has high ceilings, a king bed, side tables, a living area with chairs and a couch, a beautiful writing table, and french doors onto a balcony with a table and chairs perfect for enjoying morning coffee. - Room 5 is more modest with 3 easy chairs and a queen bed which was comfortable and suited our needs. We would be happy to stay in any room at Maison de Macarty as they are all comfortable, well maintained and clean. The Bywater neighborhood has a far more relaxed atmosphere than the Quarter or the Triangle but still features many eateries, bars, and opportunities to enjoy local culture. Kurt is an excellent host and provides all visitors with a neighborhood map and recommendations for whatever his guests are seeking. If you want easy access to all New Orleans has to offer but would prefer to sleep/relax someplace a little more low key, this is the place for you! The Breakfast at this Bed & Breakfast deserves a special mention because Chef Curtis cooks up something exciting and different every day. We feel it rivals most of the breakfast fare you can expect at local restaurants (and those restaurants are excellent, so what I am saying is that Chef Curtis is a genius so don't miss out!). Pros: Comfy Beds Clean - Natalie and Dizzy keep the place beautiful Excellent Breakfast - Curtis creates a delicious surprise every morning! Great Coffee - Costa Rica's best Amazing Staff - attentive, caring, and accommodating Free Parking Safe - all public spaces are on lockdown after dark, we felt very secure. Beautiful Pool/Outdoor area Quiet/Convenient Neighborhood - close to the best spots in the Bywater but not so close as to prevent a good nights sleep Cons: You need a cab, car, or a bike to get to the French Quarter/Marigny Triangle

Yelp
My husband and I got married there this past weekend and I am not sure where to start in explaining how perfect everything was. We rented out the entire house and had our wedding party stay in all the rooms. Every room was beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable and everything felt warm and cozy. The week of our wedding it was predicted to have sever weather and flooding. Kurt the owner did everything in his power to work with us and helped us get stuff done earlier than our reservation so we didn't have to do it in the rain. The entire staff at the B&B went out above and beyond to help us make our wedding perfect. I also don't even know where to begin with the breakfast that was served every morning. Lets just say it is not your normal b&b food, it was like staying at a 5 star resort. I can't thank you all enough for everything and making my wedding day amazing. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60864-d77014-r356030469-Maison_de_Macarty-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html#

Yelp
I have been here two different times now and I MUST recommend this quaint bed and breakfast to anyone visiting New Orleans. This is a cozy house located in the Bywater and super close to the Quarter. The rooms feel very French and you feel as if you are in a cozy European bungalow. The neighborhood is very nice and there is plenty of available street parking and the house is surrounded by a lot of other nice houses. My favorite part of the place is the backyard. There is a full pool and then there is a lounging area that is shrouded by banana trees. You feel as if you are in a completely different world. I like that the house isn't super huge and it's quiet. You feel as if you are staying with friends. Not only is this the perfect spot for people visiting from out of town, but it is fantastic if you are a local and want a change of scenery and surroundings for the weekend.

Yelp
My wife and I highly recommend this b & b to anyone visiting NOLA. Once you stay here, you will not want to stay anywhere else. Kurt, Dr. Warren, and chef Curtis are all amazing! This house is sooooooo beautiful from the exterior to the interior. We stayed in the Master Suite which was decadent. The decor was breath-taking & we really enjoyed the swing on the porch outside our room. The food was beyond delicious & creative. We loved having great morning conversations with Kurt & the other guests every morning at breakfast. We were there for Mardi Gras so Kurt gave us helpful info on how to get to the French Quarter & all the best (local) restaurants & hangouts. The most helpful thing was the paper maps we received, especially when our phones died!!!!! They offer free wifi to their guests which is awesome. They have a pool with a bar as well. I highly recommend this b & b to anyone visiting NOLA. Once you stay here, you will want to go back & visit & stay there. My wife & I truly felt like family. Everything was PERFECT!!!

Yelp
Wonderful experience... the host and hostess were phenomenal... we booked the entire property for our wedding. They made everything a breeze. Our guests at the wedding have said, "... the funnest wedding ever!"... prior to the wedding, we visited (and stayed at the B&B) on two other occasions. Each time was a great experience. The other guests on those occasion were very friendly and pleasant... Chef Curtis LaPrise catered our wedding. His menu and food were delicious. He is very familiar with the venue and he is great to work with... this was a destination wedding. So, much of the planning was done long distance. The owners and chef were so accommodating and helpful... As for the wedding... We would definitely pick to have it there again. They were fantastic!... and whenever we visit NOLA in the future... Maison de Macarty will be where we stay!

Yelp
Hurtling headlong toward my 70th decade I decided to do something different in a place that appreciated longevity and resilience. New Orleans was an obvious choice. Inasmuch as I had retired from a newspaper in Denver, and had friends who had opened Maison de Macarty, a B&B in the Ninth Ward's Bywater District, their place became a celebratory ground zero. The two-story historic house has six rooms and two cottages adjacent to a swimming pool. William Poole, who owns this charming destination, is a chef and chocolatier, so each morning breakfast were out of this world wonderful. Each evening a tray of exquisite chocolates welcomed guests returning from roaming the Crescent City. Thanks to Chef William and co-owner Loren Penton the B&B is loaded with tasteful touches, ranging from authentic Audubon prints to antique cut glass and brass sconces to the use of solar panels and recyclable packaging. Birthday party guests filled all rooms and both cottages. Everyone who stayed praised the place. It's pretty, tastefully appointed, beautifully restored and a mere two miles from the French Quarter if that's your shtick. We found great barbecue (The Joint) and an outstanding wine and cheese bar with live music nightly (Bacchanal) nearby. Oh, and last year Maison de Macarty made it onto the National Register of Historic Places. So come prepared to rest easy but don't think for one minute you'll be allowed to smoke in the rooms. You won't.

Yelp
This b&b is absolute perfection. Kurt is a gem and was always very friendly and eager to help if any problem arose. Not to mention the chef Curtis with his delicious breakfasts! (Just thinking about them makes me hungry) The rooms were beautiful, clean and expertly decorated. I highly recommend staying here to anyone who plans a trip to nola.

Yelp
Maison de Macarty is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in NOLA. My wife and I came here for four days and three nights at the end of March to get away and explore a new city. We really enjoyed the whole house and great conversation with Dr. Warren, Kurt, and Chef Curtis. We found the booking process to be very easy. They take a partial downpayment at inital booking and you pay the rest upon arrival. Speaking of arrival, we arrived just after 3PM and were welcomed by Dr. Warren and Chef Curtis. Everything was ready and we had a nice introduction to the B&B and were taken to our room with all questions answered. The room was 100% ready for our arrival and was very clean. The room had a convenient (and funny at times) binder for quick reference too. They even provided free water bottles and a great little drawstring bag as gifts. The room also had a easy to operate ceiling fan and a window air condintioner. We cannot say enough about the wonderful food chef Curtis cooked for us. They have convenient breakfast hours (9-10:30). But can accomodate if you have early plans or over sleep some. This would easily be a 5 star B&B except for two small things. The first is that it is a very old house and we noticed inconsistent temperatures while using the shower. The second is that it is a decent walk to the french quarter and we found ourselves walking to the french quarter in the morning and taking a cab home at night. We would still happily stay here again or recommend to others especially since we found the prices to be very reasonable.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here in early November for two nights. We were in the Pond Cottage, which was very private, very clean, and extremely comfortable. We could hardly believe how quiet it was. The house, pool, and grounds are inviting and lush with foliage, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We particularly loved the exquisitely decorated parlor with its jar of home-baked cookies and well-stocked honor bar. Breakfast was 5-star. Bywater is not a fancy neighborhood. If you drive in from the wrong direction it can look a bit rough, but don't be put off - this is a real neighborhood, with great little restaurants and bars. We felt completely safe walking at night, and we're from Chicago. We had a rental car, and found it a great location from which to explore the rest of the city. We felt we had a very authentic experience and got to see more of the city than we would have by staying in a chain hotel. I somehow managed to screw up my initial reservation (which I made online at about 2am after probably one too many glasses of wine) but Maison de Macarty could not have been nicer about my error. They telephoned me the next day, cancelled the days I booked in error, and sent me an email confirmation.

Yelp
A group of us rented out the Maison de Macarty for about a week and it was a great experience. All of our rooms were very clean and well decorated. The outside areas were also well designed and the pool was great. The location was perfect with many cute neighborhood restaurants and bars. Daniel and Lauren were amazing hosts, very attentive and helpful. They balanced being very laid back while also making sure we were all comfortable and well taken care of. At the last moment we ended up having to stay an extra day and they were very hospitable. We definitely plan on returning during our next trip to New Orleans.

Yelp
Stay here! My husband and I had never been to New Orleans before, and were looking for someplace that was charming and relaxing, but still central to nightlife and activities--this was the perfect find. We had the large, front-facing room with a private porch and porch swing ("Room 1"), which was the perfect place to spend the cooler mornings and evenings. Chef Curtis makes a legit breakfast--shrimp and grits and omelettes and sausage are a couple of examples from his repertoire (no "Continental" muffins in sight), and Kurt was an excellent host. The pool, pool bar, secluded backyard seating area, luxurious common rooms and downstairs front porch made for plenty of relaxing entertainment when taking a break in the afternoon. The staff has a great sense of humor and doesn't run short on entertaining anecdotes, while the hotel grounds exude class and charm with more than a few resplendent amenities. If this sounds like what you're looking for, then definitely stay at Maison de Macarty! We will be returning for sure, whenever we have the opportunity.

Yelp
Wow!! I came to New Orleans for a Mother, Daughter get away weekend and what an absolute gem of a B&B. The historic house feels homey the minute you walk in and once you hit the beds, you'll never want to get out of them. The owners, William Poole and Loren Penton, are awesome hosts and are more than happy to give you all kinds of suggestions on where to eat, what to do around town and as important, where to park around the Quarter. Even with all of the great suggestions on places to eat, I have to say my favorite meal of everyday was the amazing breakfasts that Chef Will made for us every morning. All I can say is, come here hungry!! I could not leave a single bite on my plate and was quite happy having only a praline and a cup of coffee for lunch. I can't wait to find another excuse to come back to New Orleans and come stay here again!

Mark B.

Yelp
Very nice weekend. The young couple that own and work the B&B are very genuine and helpful with any needs you may have. They are always around and very familiar with the city as well. I will be recommending this place to my friends and family. Oh, and they personally cook the breakfast each morning, and it was always unique, delicious, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the taste.

Yelp
In the Bywater, Maison de Macarty is the place to stay if you want to be in a hip, up and coming NoLa neighborhood. My wife and I stayed over a jazzfest weekend and had a blast. Allow I have never been bowled over by B&B breakfasts, the chef at M de M was outstanding. Both the food and the conversation with the owners and chef during breakfast was entertaining. The house and the out buildings are well kept and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the pond cottage and really enjoyed the feeling of privacy. the gardens, pool and deck make an oasis in the back yard that is perfect for relaxing in the afternoon or evenings after exploring the city. Per the owners suggestion we rented bikes and rode everywhere. Make sure you read the guide binder that comes in each room. It is well-written, very helpful and hilarious. Thanks to their suggestion we found one of our favorite new gems...the Joint BBQ restaurant. Dr. Warren, Kurt, and Chef Curtis really made our stay extra special.

Crystal T.

Yelp
I highly recommend this jewel!! Super great and friendly staff who makes you feel like family!! Thank you for such an amazing time!!

Yelp
As always our stay was amazing, Kurt and Warren always the best. Curtis, your spoiling us with the yummy breakfast!!! See you in May if not before Happy Mardi Gras

Yelp
I truly would love to recommend Maison de Macarty to folks traveling to New Orleans. I was very pleased with our recent stay. From the moment we walked in we were greeted in a warm welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are small but thoughtfully and individually decorated. Curtis prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning and Kurt was full of interesting local information. The Bywater is not pristine but it is fascinating and not pretentious.

Craig B.

Yelp
Maison de Macarty's response is patently untrue. American Express never even questioned the authenticity of our cancellation Email. Amex told us that if the vendor refuses to pay, there is nothing more Amex can do. Our cancellation Email was legitimate and we can prove it. M de M just never responded and then ducked our later attempts to reach them.

Phoebe R.

Yelp
Our daughter and fiance were married there on Apr 16, 2016. It was the perfect venue! There were 16 immediate family members who stayed Fri and Sat night. Very clean, quaint B&B. The owners were remarkable. Such personable, helpful people. The food was to die for! Our breakfasts the 2 mornings were amazing New Orleans cuisine. Plus the chef prepared the rehearsal dinner and it was fabulous! I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone! Wonderful place!!

Linda H.

Yelp
We recently stayed here for three nights at the end of our holiday and I loved it. The owner Kurt is really helpful and friendly and I enjoyed our little chats in the morning! The room was very nicely done with a four poster bed that was big and super comfy. It really felt like a home away from home.
