We love the Maison de Macarty!
We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and have enjoyed French Quarter luxury hotels and condo rentals throughout the Marigny Triangle and the Bywater neighborhoods.
Comfortable, unpretentious, and relaxing while showing off a bit of southern grace and charm, the Maison de Macarty has the right 'vibe' for us.
We have stayed here twice, once in room 1 (their largest) and once in room 5 (a smaller room): - Room 1 has high ceilings, a king bed, side tables, a living area with chairs and a couch, a beautiful writing table, and french doors onto a balcony with a table and chairs perfect for enjoying morning coffee.
- Room 5 is more modest with 3 easy chairs and a queen bed which was comfortable and suited our needs.
We would be happy to stay in any room at Maison de Macarty as they are all comfortable, well maintained and clean.
The Bywater neighborhood has a far more relaxed atmosphere than the Quarter or the Triangle but still features many eateries, bars, and opportunities to enjoy local culture. Kurt is an excellent host and provides all visitors with a neighborhood map and recommendations for whatever his guests are seeking. If you want easy access to all New Orleans has to offer but would prefer to sleep/relax someplace a little more low key, this is the place for you!
The Breakfast at this Bed & Breakfast deserves a special mention because Chef Curtis cooks up something exciting and different every day. We feel it rivals most of the breakfast fare you can expect at local restaurants (and those restaurants are excellent, so what I am saying is that Chef Curtis is a genius so don't miss out!).
Pros:
Comfy Beds
Clean - Natalie and Dizzy keep the place beautiful
Excellent Breakfast - Curtis creates a delicious surprise every morning!
Great Coffee - Costa Rica's best
Amazing Staff - attentive, caring, and accommodating
Free Parking
Safe - all public spaces are on lockdown after dark, we felt very secure.
Beautiful Pool/Outdoor area
Quiet/Convenient Neighborhood - close to the best spots in the Bywater but not so close as to prevent a good nights sleep
Cons:
You need a cab, car, or a bike to get to the French Quarter/Marigny Triangle
