An excellent and well laid out museum with plenty to see and explore. I particularly like the number of full size dioramas setup to recreate the look of the past. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have tours available, but I didn't have time to explore as unfortunately on Wednesday they open at 1pm instead of the usual 9:30am, so I didn't have enough time. This is just during the summer. Overall, I highly recommend visiting if you have the time.

Interesting museum with lots to see. The staff is super nice and friendly. I especially love the wildlife section. They really put a lot of work into preserving those specimens. Look so real! The costumes and history sections are very interesting and informative too. Definitely worth visiting if you travel to here.

Great local downtown museum in Whitehorse knowledgeable staff and tours available. We self directed and took our time about 3/4 hour.

The young ladies at the main floor were lovely, and I believe one of them, it was her first day. You both were simply wonderful!

You will never regret putting this museum on your list of must see places to visit while you are in Whitehorse. I hope this museum gets the accolades it so rightfully deserves. A well thought out layout, amazing friendly, helpful staff, who obviously takes such pride in what they do. Elevator, and extremely clean washroom facilities. The history was amazing and my plan of a short visit turned into over 3 -4 of the most incredible hours. Thank you for a most enjoyable experience, that I will not forget. Anita North Vancouver BC

This excellent museum is a must-see if you are visiting Whitehorse. Among the many exhibits, you will find displays on famous people who formed the Yukon, the wide range of wildlife in the region, the Klondike Gold Rush, and Indigenous people's from the Yukon. You can also see the original cabin of the legendary Sam McGee.

This is an excellent museum. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is $2/2 hour max on street parallel with the river. If you park on Main St. Max of 1 hour only. If you want free parking, there is a park near the bridge and it is all day and only a few blocks walk along the waterfront. You can also get a 3 day free parking pass if you request it from the visitor centre and have out of territory plates. This museum starts with some artifacts, beautiful art and history of the First Nations people that first inhabited the territory & some taxidermy animals native to area on the ground level. There are sections with the history of the impact of the gold rush era and changes in transportation and it’s effects. Dog sleds, trains, boats and airplanes. Information about the cold and how clothing developed with it. On the pep middle floor it has an art gallery with photographs and paintings of life and people from the Yukon. Also, a few exterior cabins and displays to check out. I was there in March so some were not accessible because of the snow. There is a small gift shop at the entrance & they host special events sometimes. When I visited they were getting ready for an art class to paint like the Yukon artist Ted Harrison. It took me several visits to see everything but I read all of it. It was well worth the $12.

Yelp
A cool little museum located close to the boardwalk, its a great stop to break up some shopping or just to learn some things. A very well done museum with history plus just info on the north. More than what you expect from the outside. So make sure you have some time, rushing it sucks.

Yelp
The Macbride Museum is a nice little Museum that teaches you a bit about the history of the Yukon gold rush, the Alascan highway, and some of the flaura and fauna in the great white north. They have incredible taxidermy. I am not into that really, but it blew me away. They have a grizzly bear, polar bear, and even an albino female moose! They have a video of the gold rush which was informative and interesting. On the upper floor there is some local artwork. The Museum costs ten dollars per person and you can Park across the street for two dollars. A fun visit while in Whitehorse!

Yelp
This is a neat little Museum that I visited during a short stay in Whitehorse. In fact, if you don't have a car and are limited to the Town Site, you can have a great tourist experience in about half a day. The McBride Museum has a large collection of relics and photographs from the gold-rush days. These include the log cabin belonging to Sam McGee about whom Robert Service, "Bard of the Yukon", wrote a famous ballad. There are also numerous bits of old machinery and implements and an interesting display on the wildlife of the Yukon.

Yelp
Personally, this is my second favourite museum in Whitehorse (the first being Beringia center), there's a lot more in this place than what you'd think from the outside. Lots of different exhibits showing many aspects of history in the Yukon. I always found it very interesting and informative.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. Lots of tips of for things to do. It was worth the $10 entrance fee and the museum was great. The temporary exhibit was also very interesting but required a lot of reading to decipher what was going on.

Yelp
I think that the MacBride Museum is wonderful if you're looking for a quick and informative insight into the history of the Yukon and its major settlements such as Dawson City and Whitehorse. There is also a great display of all the native wildlife and the way the museum was laid out was easy to navigate and not very busy at all. Features included Sam McGee's cabin, panning for gold, the story of the gold-rush (in a short movie in the theatre) and a look at façades of old buildings from around that era which really plunged you into what life was like living at that time. The gift-shop (although pricey) had a plethora of gifts and trinkets to definitely show relatives that you've been to Yukon. (One of my highlights was the Yukon license plates which are on sale featuring the infamous miner panning for gold!) All in all, definitely worth a visit if you're staying in Whitehorse and want to learn more about the Yukon's culture.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this museum. Lots to look at, super sweet staff, and panning for gold. The gift shop is nice and we loved panning for gold. The variety of taxidermy animals create a wonderful real life size display for kids to see. We loved the walking tour too.
