For 2 nights we had the huge pleasure of using/sleeping in the Harbor Suite, the largest and most expensive room. Is it worth it? Totally! We have each great views from our sitting room, even better views from our private balcony. Watching the sunset over the bay was both beautiful and calming. We could even see some of the view from bed. It is all very comfortable. Each of the available guest rooms looked very attractive and comfortable. ||||Hosts Michele and Doug are very warm and welcoming. They are very informative about the area. Of course there there was the scrumptious breakfast each morning! An additional treat was special touch provided by a note wishing us happy anniversary with pieces of Lopez Island fudge. On our full day, Michele graciously packed a grand picnic lunch for us, which we enjoyed at a viewpoint at Watmough Preserve.||||There is free wifi. ||||The inn is an easy drive to any of the numerous beautiful areas on the island.||||Some examples:||||Watmough Preserve, only about a 10 minute drive, then a short hike to a stunning beach, alongside a wetlands, AND up the hill are more fabulous views. ||||Just a few minutes down the same road is the 15 minute hike to Colville Point, with marvelous scenery abounding.||||It is about a three minute drive (or a quick bicycle ride) to the Agate Beach County Park, a beautiful place on its own, and is also the parking area for the hiking trail to the spectacular Iceberg Point. It is also only just a few minutes from Lopez Town. It would also be neat a neat base for bicycle rides to areas.||||Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

This is a gem of place on the south part of the island. Gorgeous setting across from the water, really peaceful, but yet a quick drive to the "busier" parts of the island. The Inn is beautiful - charming and nicely appointed. Doug and Michele make you feel at home and serve up a delicious breakfast. They were super kind and really fun to get to know as they've had an interesting journey that brought them out to Lopez. We will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I, and our two close friends, had an absolutely fantastic 3-night stay at MacKaye Harbor Inn. TOur room was very comfortable and pretty, the food was excellent, and the view from the dining area was stunning. Michelle and Doug were incredibly helpful throughout our visit - directing us to great beaches and restaurants, suggesting wonderful activities, helping us get to our ferry on time, and giving us lots of interesting background information about the island and inn. We will definitely be back!

5 days of bliss! sand between your toes, soft breezes, gentle fog and sunshine. Lopez Island is the best island in our opinion and MacKaye Harbor Inn is the best place to stay. Michele and Doug are wonderful hosts. They make delicious breakfasts that are almost too pretty to eat. Port wine and chocolates in the evening. Spotlessly clean rooms with lovely antiques and beautiful blankets. I could go on and on. Did I mention the kayaking in the bay, the sunsets? Book your time in paradise now! You won't regret it.

We spent an amazing two nights in the captain's room in this fabulous bed and breakfast Inn. It is a historic house located on a private beach with a beautiful view of the water. Our wonderful hosts, Michelle and Doug tended to our every need without being intrusive. We had a very tasty breakfast served to us every morning. They gave us suggestions of where to go and for places to eat. We wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back!.

We spent 5 lovely quiet nights at MacKaye Harbor Inn on the south end of Lopez Island, watching the sunset from our window, walking the beach at low tide in the early morning, having gourmet breakfasts (a different one each morning!), and a lovely porch to tuck in for a read or a nap. As we know the island well, we knew we were not far from good hikes/walks. They had kayaks for use in the large bay. Michelle and Doug went out of their way to accommodate any requests or needs. Highly recommended!

This is a delightful B & B. The rooms we stayed in (Captain's Room and Flower Room) were comfortable and the location is quiet and very relaxing. We took bicycles to Lopez Island and the ride from the ferry to the Inn was a safe ride on country roads. Rolling hills and "friendly" local car traffic. The South End Market is less than a mile from the Inn with a good selection of food and wine. Great hiking areas are close to the Inn. We also enjoyed riding to Lopez Village (less than 10 miles) for great lunches. At the Inn, the restful view of sunsets from the front porch are spectacular. A special place where we intend to return.

Right on the beach. We stayed in the Captains room which is on the first floor. It is right by the front door, but still quiet and we had our own private deck. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and Mike and Robin had a bottle of wine for us. Amazing breakfasts as they had a guest French chef who made croissants and then muffins for our 2 day stay. They provide a nice walking trail guide which was very handy. Incredible sunset view from Agate Beach.

Yelp
Loved staying here with Robin and Mike! They are lovely and so hospitable. Robin's breakfasts were out of this world. Every morning I couldn't wait to see what was for breakfast! I already miss her delicious cooking. MacKaye Harbor is on the south side of the island, like a 10-minute drive from the Village. It's quiet and peaceful and super relaxing. The inn is right on the water and there are kayaks available to use (for a fee) and free bikes.

Yelp
We spent three days in this historic B & B, and it was lovely. The Captain's Room was sunny and airy, with a great view of the bay and the changing light. The antiques completed the illusion that we were lodging there in the 1880s. The sitting room was a great place to have a fabulous breakfast in the mornings, and the hosts were eager to tend to our every needs. Michele and Doug have been the hosts for the past three summers, they said. They come up from Austin, Texas. They're great cooks and are eager to give you what you need, whether that be conversation or peace and quiet. We had a special request: We wanted to rent kayaks, but it looked like one of the merchants was a Trumper. She found us one who wasn't. Can I ask more than that?

Karen S.

Yelp
We stayed 2 nights at this lovely bed and breakfast. Our hosts Michelle and Doug were so nice and attentive while also respecting our privacy. We stayed in the Captain's room on the main floor. We had our own private deck on which to relax. There were 4 other rooms upstairs. The house was so beautiful and very clean. There was a view of the water from almost every window. We were steps from the private beach. We were served a delicious breakfast every morning. We loved our stay and plan to return in the future!

Yelp
Absolutely the best place to stay on Lopez, and possibly anywhere in the San Juan Islands. This was our third trip over the years, and Michele and Doug are easily some of the best B&B innkeepers you'll find. They are funny, charming, super friendly and accommodating, and the breakfasts were among our favorite meals of the entire trip. The view is gorgeous, the neighborhood is quiet, and MHI is everything you are wanting if you have decided to vacation in "Slopez". The rooms and beds are very comfortable, the views of the harbor can't be beat, and you're far enough from the busy north end of the island to really feel the peace and calm of the great PNW. Southend Market is around the corner for good food and groceries, and Village Cycles will deliver your rental bike to MHI (and you just cannot go to Lopez without riding a bike around the island...) Be sure to ask Michele and Doug for recommendations for hikes and fun things to do on some of the other islands if do you want to explore more of the San Juans.

Yelp
Michele and Doug were the most charming and informative hosts. Mackaye Harbor Inn was our 'anchor' on a four day three island tour of the San Juan Islands. As far as we are concerned, Lopez is the best of the islands and MacKaye Harbor Inn is the best of Lopez. Wonderful facilities and hugely helpful hosts. This was our first Bed and Breakfast---I had no idea the difference between 'staying somewhere' and receiving the kind of service and accommodations we received. Gosh, thanks, folks, we will be back.

Yelp
Such a charming and delightful place to stay while on Lopez. The hosts are so warm and welcoming andanticipate your every need. The location is spectacular.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! Mike and Robin Have thought of everything. The complementary wine and greeting card with a special note for our three-year anniversary was a thoughtful touch. There are so many options of things to do here; you can relax and read a book, hike, kayak, bike, go to some great restaurants, farmers market - you can't go wrong! Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. Mike loaned us a pack and binoculars for our hike and told us all the great things to do in the area. We look forward to returning! Delicious breakfast and truffles and port in the afternoon!

Yelp
My husband and I just spent the Labor Day weekend here. It was a return visit to this B&B for us. The owners and hosts, Robin and Mike are so friendly, fun and welcoming. The breakfast each morning is never a disappointment...and this morning when we had to head to a 6:00AM ferry Robin packed us a bagged " breakfast to go". Their location is lovely and so peaceful. We will always remember our times spent there fondly.

Yelp
Robin and Mike were lovely and so helpful and accommodating! Great location by the water, fabulous property with free bikes, and kayaks to rent. Delicious breakfasts. Shaded hut by the water, little casita to watch the sunset, big porch. Rose room was comfortable, but the decor was tired and the shades don't block the sun, so I was awakened at 5:30 each morning. The shower scalded me twice because the temperature isn't consistent. It's the property and the hosts that make this place special.

Yelp
Bayside view from the Harbor Suite, short walk to the beach, use of bikes with available kayak rentals, makes for a quiet or outdoor adventure filled weekend. My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary and were able to relax and socialize in a warm and welcoming environment. Mike and Robin were wonderful hosts with the right balance of friendly interaction, helpful insider information, and respect for space and quiet. We are headed back to our 3 children now, but look forward to again visiting this beautiful and nostalgic feeling getaway.

Yelp
A wonderful place. Superb food. Mike and Robin offer a perfect combination of TLC and freedom.

Yelp
I have to start this by saying I have never stayed at this Inn. I am writing this review because the owner (Mike) did me a big favor and seems to be a really nice guy. I was visiting the island and accidentally left some bike helmets on the beach in front of his property. I didn't realize it until I was off the island and on my way back to California. I called him as a complete stranger and asked if he could perhaps mail them to me. He not only happily agreed but was ready to pay for the shipping! Unfortunately I can't speak to the quality of the Inn but having such a kind and friendly owner is a great start. I can say that Lopez island is beautiful and peaceful and that the beach in front of this property is nice.

Rob L.

Yelp
We were double booked at a different location. Robin was very kind to take us in with last minute notice. And she made us feel very welcome throughout our stay always coming out to say hi whenever we were in the living room. The accomodations at this inn are incredible (wifi, cheap kayaks rentals, bicycles, breakfast, bocchi ball, and much more). Higly recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely hands down the very best experience I've had at a bed and breakfast. The food was sensational, fresh, and served hot. Mike and Robin were delightful, accommodating and very helpful. The room was well appointed. The views were exceptional. I am quite into outdoor activities, and they had bikes and kayaks for a small price.
