Enjoyed the pizza. Order the original crust not the thin crust as it was super good. Service coming out of the kitchen was slow but it was due to the MANY takeout orders flying out the door. Worth the wait as our server was funny and food was good.

2nd time trying Pizza. Humble pie is excellent. The Tai Pie was a step above. I have to rave! Hands down the best Pizza I have had.

Great place all around! Ambiance, food, customer service all top notch. Our waitress was Malie was fabulous and kind and made our dinner great. It was a very busy evening as graduation and a lacrosse tournament are in town. Staff moved people through, had food out as fast as they could and continues to check on tables and be courteous. Food was amazing: had the hot Hawaiian pizza and it was on point. Pasta dish was great and the Stockholm pizza didn’t disappoint. If you are looking for a good meal, make sure you stop by.

Great service for lunch! Reece was an awesome server. He was prompt, friendly and attentive. He smiled when talking and it was an overall pleasant experience. The food came hot and delicious.

This is a great and classic spot. But if you come here for lunch be aware that it will take a long time! This wouldn’t be a good place to eat if you want a work lunch if that makes sense. The food is very good and their combos are fun.

Food and service are always top notch. Cleo was our waitress tonight and she is exceptional!! Very professional and kind demeanor!

always stop by here when coming home to Montana. Was glad to see that they were nice and busy. We got in right away and the service was great.was happy to hear that they had cold smoke on tap and it went great with the pizzas that we ordered. Unfortunately something was going on with the nachos this visit. They came out about ten minutes after the pizza and just wasn't up to the normal standards that MRP hits. That being said, always good here and will definitely be back.

Salad: massive! When they say large salad, they really mean it. Menu has many salad options. I wouldn’t say the Southwest had artisan level flavor, but I would buy again because it is a major bang for your buck. If you want a huge loaded salad with decent flavor, this is the place. The spinach did leave a bit of a grainy texture in my mouth afterward, so hopefully they can fix that! Service: friendly! Speed: dine-in was a little slower, but that can be okay if you’re enjoying a leisurely afternoon or savoring some great company! Overall good experience 👍

Stopped by for dinner on our way back from Canada to California. Food was pretty great. Good portion size and everything was genuinely delicious. I did take off one star because of service. We had checked in for our table for our party (4 of us) and were told a 15 minute wait but it was longer because the hostess left and we were skipped over and a few parties were seated before us until the host finally noticed and asked if we were waiting for a to go order.

Good pizza and a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately the other night was disappointing, the water had a moldy taste to and so did the soda. We think they need to throughly clean their ice machine.

A large, clean facility with solid service and satisfactory pizza. Ordered a large Good Ol' Boy. The dough was flavorful, the sauce a little bland, and the pepperoni plentiful... all in all a decent pie. Having had the same pie at another Mac River location, we were a little disappointed. Will be back to try again.

Well we have been here quite a few times but only now gotten around to reviewing this place. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice, they have some extra cute and large private booths, and there's lots of cool montana-y decorations. So it's kinda pricey here, nowadays that's normal, but what's really great for us is that they offer non dairy cheese, because my wife and one of my daughters can't have dairy. And the kids meals with pizza are HUGE!! Like the pizzas are very large. (See pics). We just found out on Wednesday that kids eat free with a minimum $13 purchase. Of course that's easy to do because that's less than one meal. But for two adults to eat and three kids for $40 is unheard of in todays society! And the service was great too! I had a fancy dish of ziti fettuccine with some other stuff and my wife had a non dairy pizza. And the kids had their own pizzas and fruit and all. Any other day but Wednesday it would have been a lot more money, but hey, we'll take it when we can! I recommend Mackenzie River.

Super awful, bland food. Will not be going back. Pretzel breadsticks were ok. The queso dip had the wrong combination of beer & cheese. Whatever pairing they're using does not compliment each other. It was so bitter to the point of being inedible. Like a homecook who saw a YouTube recipe & only had Corona & American cheese in the fridge. Although that would have been way better. The Frito pie was like whhhaaaaat?!? & not in a good way. Chili was bland. So was everything else. Why do they even have this on the menu? It adds nothing for them. Attached is a picture of the kids chicken nuggets. The most pathetic looking presentation I've ever seen. They could have atleast threw in enough fries. Just bland frozen chicken nuggets. Nothing different or special. Their Cobb Salad was decent. Ample mixed greens. Toppings were cut nicely & seemed fresh. Chicken was moist. They don't serve the best ranch so that kind of dampened the Cobb Salad experience. Probably Sysco jar ranch. Now to the pizza: you'd be better off getting Digiorno's because that's exactly what this tasted like. Seems like they use a generic, mass-produced recipe for the dough. Sauce taste like jar sauce. Cheese was previously frozen which makes it taste bland. Sausage was too crumbly & non-existant. A slice of Costco pizza would have been 100x better. A very disappointing experience. Not worth anyone's time. Just because we live in a rural area with little options for restaurants doesn't mean you can serve us bad food like we don't know any better. Shame on you for trying to pass off this bland, one note food as "flavorful."

Summary: More than pizza, MacKenzie provides a variety of sandwich, salad, appetizer, and main course options. My lunch combo--called Rod and Reel--provided a 1/2 sandwich (Reuben) and side choice. I had coleslaw. Fries and a spicy dill pickle slice were included in the meal. The Reuben was terrific. The coleslaw was a bit dry. The pickle had a surprising hit of chili pepper after the dill taste. The fries, dusted with seasoning and cheese, were lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They quickly became soft and unappealing except for the seasoning. Service was attentive.

The restaurant wasn't too busy and I ordered a beet salad and a portion of fries. It look 35 min for my food to come out which was too long of a wait for the type of food I ordered. The fries were good but the salad wasn't anything special.

Came here with my family for lunch. Ordered half Thai Pie half other kind of pizza. Also lodgpepoles. The Thai Pie was unique but it was good. It had like a curry base with oranges and chicken. It worked good together. I also liked the unique flavors paired together for the pizza. It was just different. We also had lodgepoles with marinara sauce and it was okay. It was like pizza bread with cheese. I do suggest the bread be a little bit more flavorful. Maybe adding a garlic Butter herb on it. I think the best part for me was the service and the beer! Our waiter was amazing at suggesting some good local beer. And was also very helpful. I also really liked the decor and it looked like a cool place to bring family or friends for lunch. I would come back again!

We ordered an Ole Boy pizza with mushroom. there was half the amount of pepperoni that they had 3 months ago and they may have put the equivalent of one cut up mushroom on the entire pizza. Not going back for sure.

Service was fantastic! From the hostess to the entire server experience, wonderful and friendly. Great for families and friends. Food was excellent as always. We enjoyed wings, salad and lodge poles.

The restaurant was dirty, the bathrooms were dirty. The restaurant didn't have beer or wine or a bar it was closed for some reason. The girl who seated us was an air head who couldn't even answer any questions we had and shrugged her shoulders and said, " I just work here!" . There must be better places to eat besides here in Helena!

Food, Service, & Ambiance were all stellar. I was a loner on my recent visit, so I decided to take a seat at the bar. I wasn't disappointed. The food was great, the server & service was excellent. Everyone seated next to was friendly, courteous, and having a good time.

We called in an order to-go for a salad and they told us it would take 30 minutes to prepare. Well, I happened to show up 20 minutes later and they just pulled something out of cold storage and handed it over to me. The dressing was melted sugar with no flavor and the "salad" was just a tiny box of greens - I could count the number of huckleberries and it was 3 pieces of split nuts. Skip!

I used to love McKenzie River Pizza. Now, I feel the service and quality of its ingredients are not what they used to be. Last visit we all ordered salad with our pizzas. The salad was wilted and the service was lacking-did not check up on us as she was busy waiting 6 other tables.

Not sure where the poor reviews come from. Food was tasty, service was fantastic. Server was busting her butt and did a threat job taking care of us and a bunch of other tables. Lodge poles are a classic and the Greek salad was solid. Ordered a large rancher pizza which we all enjoyed. Kids loved the kids meal as well. Would definitely come back next time we're in Helena!

Mackenzie pizza sold out to a different owner a few years ago. The good old boy pepperoni pizza changed. It doesn't taste the same as it did years ago. I've had pizza across the UNITED STATES from Florida to California to Montana. Mackenzie river was the best at one time. Sorry to say not for us anymore!!!!

I don't leave many reviews, but wanted to for any out of town travelers to Helena as there are not many options in town. The Restaraunt itself is very clean, very nice, seems to be well run. The employees, my waitress was awesome, great location especially for families in terms of ambience. Not great for a business eating by yourself spot, but not many are. The buffalo wings were dank, really good. Great selection of beer. No issues there. The Pizza tho. If Dave Portnoy ranked it, he would prolly give it a 3 out of ten, or worse. I hate to be mean, and I am Sicilian and I do live in an area with lots of really good pizza. However the Pizza at this place is basically a heated up digiorno's frozen pizza, at least that's how it tastes. Not horrible, but really not good. I may just be a snob being Italian and from Boston, but that's my take. Of course it's probably the best Pizza around for 200 miles so, i'll give the place a 5 star rating for ambience but a two for the pizza. They either need a new recipe for pizza or a new cook. But other than that, it was good.

The atmosphere is fun, the pizza, however, is very average. I believe it has declined over the years. My favorite thing to get there is the Willow Creek turkey sandwich. It's delicious.

Always have good service, and great food! Definitely recommend coming here for a yummy bite!

I live in cali but have been here three times while visiting a friend. I've tried the buffalo mack n cheese, the jalapeno popper dip, artichoke dip, bistro pizza on a flatbread, and the beet salad. Did not enjoy the popper dip. It actually tasted like pure bacon grease and the cheese was like curdled. Hard pass on that. LOOOOOVED the artichoke dip (it has pesto and I love pesto) and the beet salad. I did switch out the arugala for spring mix. It was super good with the orange balsamic, with big beet chunks and goat cheese. Service was great every time. They were there when we needed something but not overly served, which I appreciate because we were there for awhile each time. I will definitely continue to come here when I'm in town!

10/10 recommend!!! Fun, laid back atmosphere. Super friendly and attentive staff. Food took a little longer than expected but boy was it worth it! Pulled pork Sammy with homemade coleslaw (I tried to get the slaw recipe. So good with cilantro!), Stockman pizza with original crust (loaded with meat, delicious sauce, awesome fresh crust, non-greasy) Baked ziti, and chicken Alfredo both with obviously homemade unique and tasty sauce. Good portions. Definitely coming back if we're ever in the area!

SLOW!! VERY SLOW!! They gave my food to another table. The rest of my table was done eating so I told our waitress not to bring mine. She brought the check AND my food in a to go box and said it was ready so..... We have given them plenty of second chances. But after this last one we wont go back. The food is pretty much heat and serve so there is no reason to take as long as it does.

Last night we ate at the McKenzie River Pizza Co They have a great menu. Great beer selection, but what makes this restaurant is the staff. Purchase server, Sarah was wonderful. She also tended bar and she remembered many of her customers regular orders and always went above and beyond. The hostess was awesome also. If I lived in Helena I would be one of Sarah's regulars!!

We almost skipped this because of the other reviews, and I'm so glad we didn't. It was fantastic. We got three appetizers, three salads, two pizzas, and two desserts. It was all delicious. And our waitress was the best server we've had in two weeks of eating out on vacation. Solid 5 stars. If we lived here, we would be regulars.

Great lunch! We had a beer and the flat breads. Perfectly cooked and potion filled me up! I wish I could remember our waitress name, but she did a great job. The restaurant was busy but we never felt a drop is service. Thank you!

Food is always good! But service takes forever. Ordered online pick up and went to go pick it up and it took 20 minutes beyond pick up time (and there were like 4 tables in the restaurant. Can't imagine in a rush.)

We decided to have food delievered tonight and when it arrived it was nothing short of a mess. I ordered the buffalo mac and cheese which arrived crunchy and burnt in places with chicken so hard it resembled plastic. My son got the kids quesadilla which had the same "plastic" chicken and a tortilla so stale (yes stale, not overcooked as it was practically still white) he wouldn't eat it after the first bite. My husband's sandwich was okay but it wasn't the one he ordered so there's that. Even the tortilla chips were stale. My husband went to the restaurant to resolve things and they were confused on how we even got food because our online order was canceled?? My card was charged and I never got notice it was canceled and we got food that essentially would've been trashed at the restaurant so I dont even know how this place is running at the moment. There is an Adult in the kitchen and an Adult manager but every other worker is high school age which kind of explains the mess of things but its no excuse for the quality of food we were given. We were offered a gift card instead of a refund but we are from our of town so they offered to remake the food which my husband is still waiting for at the restaurant over 2 hours past when we were supposed to have our meal and almost my sons bed time. In short, I'd skip this place at least until they get some real management.

Good food. Service is great. Never late on a takeout order like many are. They've had issues with having enough staff like everyone else but they close when necessary.

Atmosphere was nice. Service was great. Soda refills were timely. Food was pretty tasty. Only complaint was that the pizzas and lodgepoles were really greasy, really really greasy. But hey, it tasted good. I actually drained the grease off the two slices of pizza I ate and it was enough to leave a puddle on the plate. The Thai Pie pizza was pretty good. Would visit again.

I love being here. My kids love it. My brother won't leave Montana without having it at least once. Excellent service, pizza, atmosphere, and McLovin!

This place came recommended by a friend and thought we would give it a try while driving through town. We were on a time constraint so ordered our food the minute the waitress came to our table, we waited 45 minutes for a salad, sandwich, wrap, two pastas and a kids pizza. Our waitress was working her tail off the kitchen meanwhile was not. We finally had to ask for our food to go, the kitchen still hadn't finished all the food so our waitress had to leave all of her tables to get our food packed up. She even had to pull the pizza out of the oven and get it cut and packed. Truly have no idea what the multiple kitchen staff was doing. The food was fine, but hard to truly enjoy while shoving it in our face in the car. We would have had an equally enjoyable meal going through a drive thru. If they are understaffed then they should not seat people so that the food service can keep up. However I'm not sure this was the case, as a table seated after ours finished their food and paid before we got ours to go.

The bartender was great and the food was good. I will go back. Nice place to stop in for a light dinner.

Hubby decided to treat me and take me out to dinner. Had the absolute cutest waitress. She was so sweet, cheery and fun. I believe her name was Kyla. She was very good at her job and her humor made the night out, great.

Good salads and flatbreads for lunch. I recommend the pear and arugula flatbread. Amazing salads too

Great pizza for the price! Wonderful service, Sara took great care of us. Stuffed ourselves and still took leftovers out. Don't expect Chicago or New York taste, but hey this is Helena! We are checking out Helena and will be back to MRP!

It is getting so much better after Covid our server was great the food was much better but they need to take a power washer to their bathrooms they don't look like they've been cleaned in a month of Sundays. I usually don't eat it places like that.

Everytime I order from there it is a disaster. Once ok fine, twice concerning, three times in a row, I'm sorry you have lost a good customer. To top it off I decided to order online on the McKenzie River Website this time and after standing there for 40 minutes after the pick up time was told "we don't handle the online stuff". Are you kidding me, it's your company website! This place used to be great and they used to get my hard earned bucks. Not anymore! Don't BS people or try at least to make it right, not even an offer from them to make things right. Got to go now to feed a really hungry family!

Our food took forever to come out and when they finally brought it, the order was wrong so we had to wait all over again. The food wasn't worth waiting for either. The staff was nice but that's pretty much the only good thing about our experience.

This is the third time that we've placed a to go order and was told 30 minutes only to arrive and have to wait another 30 minutes in the lobby while they are clearly just starting to cook the food. I could understand if it was a Friday or Saturday night but it's Tuesday at 7:30 PM. We will be going elsewhere from now on.

The Wedge salad was good, my girlfriend had the Ziti and that was good. I had the Sonoran Steak wrap, horrible, didn't eat much of the first half as it just tasted bad, I opened the other half and it didn't have a fork full of steak in it. Even the beer wasn't that cold. They did take the meal off of the bill but overall very disappointed.

The first time I got pizza here it wasn't quite cooked all the way, so I was bummed. I gave it another try though, and this time it was way better. The hot Hawaiian is my fav so far. I think the crust is a little bigger than I like, but overall not bad

New to the area and went based on referral. Pizza was amazing , the one with chicken and white sauce is my favorite- forgot the name of it! I finished it cold for breakfast the next day and it was just as good as the night before...but I love cold pizza for breakfast! Attentive staff, local beer, homely vibe! Will for sure be back!

Like the other Mac Rivers around. Love the Greek salad, and the pizza. I like the rancher, flathead or any of them really. I get the original crust, which is herby and delicious. Get a beer or a glass of wine too. I enjoy getting a local Montana beer or two with my meal. The lodge poles are great as an app but not necessary for two people. Throughout the state, Mackenzie's are pretty consistent and great place for visitors or locals.

Normally when I visit any Montana town that has a MacKenzie River, it's always a good option. Tonight in Helena was the exception to always feeling like it's high quality with thoughtful and considerate servers. When we first arrived we had to wait for seating and it seemed there was confusion on who was handling the seating. Once seated, our server took our drink order and then our food order. We all ordered pizza and three of us ordered a house salad with creamy vinaigrette. When our pizza's arrived we had not yet received our salads and found out the server put the order in for the salad dressing to be put on our pizza, so we had two small pizzas with house vinaigrette on them and no salad. She seemed confused that we had ordered salad and said, oh I thought you just ordered salad dressing for your pizza. So we got our salads. We had one person who ordered a sandwich with fries and received chips instead, so had to reorder his fries. For the most part, except for my soggy pizza this would all be forgivable - however it was evident the servers attention was very much on the table next to us of young men who she repeatedly returned to talk to as she was visiting each table. I am guessing had she not been distracted by her table of friends, this order would have gone much more smoothly. I would recommend better training servers that customers notice this type of distraction and in this case it made a huge difference in the quality of our of!order. Thank you

Solid meal nice and friendly staff. Get the pesto with the cheese bread. Pizza was pretty good, kind of their style not a true thick crust or thin crust. Save your pesto to dip your crust in.

The smell of this restaurant is soo inviting! The second you open the door you begin to salivate as the rich Italian aromas excite every taste bud! The food was amazing and the portions were HUGE! The Cowboy Nachos were amazing and big enough to make an entire meal for two. The Cheese Ravioli was very tasty as well. The service was slow and although our glasses had been empty for a while; we weren't asked if we needed a refill until we neared the end of our meal (that's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars).

I was staying at the Residence Inn, and I didn't rent a car. I either had to walk about a mile to get my dinner, or get takeout. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and gave me coupons to MacKenzie River. There was a coupon for free Lodgepoles and 10% off. MacKenzie let me combine both coupons! I ended up with a Small Cottonwood Pizza, Lodgepoles, and a Small MacKenzie Cobb Salad. You're probably thinking...damn, that's a lot of food for one person! And yes, it was. But I couldn't pass up the coupons, and I was hungry. Everything I ordered could've fed two to three people, and I had a lot leftover. The salad was your basic Cobb salad. For a small, the portion was pretty big. The Lodgepoles were tasty. They had a good amount of cheese, and everything was still nice and hot when it got to me. The pizza was good. I'm usually a meaty kind of girl, but I decided to go with chicken to be on the "healthier" side. It was tasty, but I do still prefer sausage or pepperoni on my pizza. I was quoted 45 minutes for my delivery, and they were right on time! And they delivered right to my hotel room. Very convenient for me!

Came here on a very chilly winter night in hopes of good pizza and good beer. I really wanted to like this place but the only thing they have going for them is their service. The wings weren't bad, the pizza was the worst I've ever had, and the beer selection wasn't the best. 2 stars for effort and service!

This is a good spot to get pizza and a salad. It's a chain, and my first visit, but I found it to be a great place for lunch. I had a veggie pizza with a salad. I sat out on the patio, and the waiter was very quick to refill my water. I was very thirsty that day, and the refills were very welcome! The menu had a nice variety of pizzas, salads and other items.
