Mackinac Island Ferry Company - Star Line - Mackinaw City Dock #1

Absolutely delightful. I did the sunset tour and loved going under the bridge, seeing cars go over, and hearing the history of the bridge and the island. On line reservations were easy, staff friendly and courteous. As I walked into the office, at boarding time, I found they were calling me to make sure I didn't miss the boat. (I didn't know I was supposed to get my hand stamped due to not reading my email.) One doesn't hear of customer service like that any more. Beverage prices were less expensive than I anticipated. The kids on the boat loved the trip, too.

Fun experience for kids. Free parking lot is on another side of entrance, 2 mins of walking. Do not sit on front sit unless you want LOT of wind. Restrooms close to the ferry line.

*update 2022 took wife and kids to Mackinac island, my daughter was a little nervous about being on a big boat and big water. the pirate ship crew made her feel comfortable and was great at reassuring of her safety. The kids had a great time swabbing the deck and shooting water cannons The crew had great skits n shanty's This is truly an experience you and your children will never forget.(adult drinks available at bar in galley 😉😁) Come check it out. 2021-I personally made a mistake on my tickets thought I had purchased the pirate ride to the island for me and my wife and the cruise that was set at 545 for her birthday I actually purchased the fast pass (regular boat) and the pirate cruise package oops When I got to the boat the deck hand showed me my mistake but as a knowledgeable crewman does informed me of inclement weather and a high possibility of the cruise I scheduled being canceled And then proceeded to again inform me on how to upgrade my tickets from the island and let us on the boat so we didn't miss the experience (last day the pirate boat on the water being docked for winter) Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and the professionalism we had a 1 of a kind experience on the good fortune that we will never forget

We purchased our tickets online for an easy departure experience. We opted to wait an additional 30 minutes to experience the under the bridge trip to the island which did not disappoint! The boats were clean, quick to board, and fast! There are plenty of times available so we never felt rushed on the island. I do recommend picking up whatever you may want from the gift shop before you leave because it was closed upon our return.

Just a hair cheaper than Shepler’s, and they handled our loaded bicycles like pros. They took our bikes on and off the ferry both times (no tipping necessary), and our bikes weren’t scratched or dinged at all. That was most important to me and they did just fine. The ride itself was quick - maybe 20-25 minutes? However, their adherence to the posted schedule is iffy due to the amount of people they are trying to move back and forth. I get it, just be patient as you wait, people.

Jul 21 2024. Information on web site is incorrect. Schedule has a boat every 30 min, we were just told it is every hour. Really? Summer time, noon, tons of people waiting. And they simply do not care. Guys at the end of the line will wait 2 hours if no better service is provided. We’ve been inline 50 min and no bot in-sight. Besides fast pass is regular pass. Want to move faster, then is priority boarding. Using misleading language.

Took Starline ferry to Mackinac Island. We bought our tickets in advance online using the family pass options to save $5 over shepler's. Beautiful ride

First time on a ferry and we had a blast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices are not bad. I recommend sitting on the top deck.
