Best lobster roll in town

Perfect Martha's Vineyard Day
View Postcard for MacPhail's Corner Cafe

Google
The food at MacPhail’s Corner Cafe was ok. The flavors were solid, and the ingredients seemed fresh. However, I was surprised by how expensive everything was for what you actually get. For example, the cheeseburger was $18+, which felt steep given the quality. The service was another mixed experience. It wasn’t outright rude, but it came across as somewhat indifferent; not very welcoming or attentive, though not entirely unhelpful either. Overall, while the food had potential, the value and service didn’t quite match the price point.

Google
This review is for the breakfast burrito with the special sauce added (should be default imo), and for the muffins, sliced in half with butter and then put on the griddle for a bit. IMO this combo is super strong here.

A theme I found in Martha’s Vineyard was the feeling of being rushed. I ordered their lobster roll. The cashier rung me up. I wanted to add a soda. He rang me up again and then I decided I should get a water. The cashier rolled his eyes harder than a heavy rock rolling down a steep hill. While I get that I didn’t order everything at once. It’s my first time here and I was looking around. The lobster roll was good and apparently a small bag of lays potato chips are included. I am glad I tried it not sure I would want to try that again. One water One soda One lobster roll $44.69 (with a $5.83 tip included)

Google
Best and LARGEST lobster roll on the island. Hefty warm roll filled with chilled, large chunks of lobster salad. So amazing I wanted to go back for another. If you really want to treat yourself, get the frozen Arnold Palmer (frozen lemonade with iced tea) or the old school Stewart’s root beer.

Google
The greatest foot place in all of Martha’s Vineyard. Best customer service oat.

Google
Terrible awful disgusting food. Don’t eat here chicken wasn't even chicken. 0/10!! Worst food on the vineyard! No joke my public school chicken was better.

Google
Nice place . Delicious lobster roll and cheeseburger !

Google
The breakfast burrito I ordered was extremely disappointing. The bacon inside was raw and undercooked, and they completely forgot to include the avocado that was supposed to come with it.

Yelp
Delicious lobster roll. Amazing flavor. Big chunks of lobster. Sticker shock at $32 for 1 sandwich (I've been away from New England for many years) but what else can you expect on the island?! It was worth every single bite though. Friendly staff. Small little hole in the wall but just grab your Sammies and go eat by the ocean. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
MacPhails is a small, casual spot but don't look past it! They serve breakfast and lunch all day as well as coffee and pastries. The breakfast burrito was amazing, it had tater tots, eggs, bacon, and avocado. Lobster roll had a lot of meat in it. Prices are not bad for being in Martha's Vineyard. Nice and air conditioned inside. Some indoor and outdoor seating. Wasn't too crowded when I came but there was a line when we were leaving. If you want a quick meal I would recommend coming here.

Yelp
very chill vibe here which is nice. super casual and easy take out. caprese was yum. other friends got popcorn chicken which was also enjoyed.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite places to go to. Every year I would look forward to this place opening for the season. I went there on Sept 2nd, 2022, around 8 am, for a breakfast sandwich. There was no line at all. Sadly this place has gone downhill. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel, and my mum ordered a sausage egg and cheese. When I got home, upon opening the sandwich, I thought they had accidentally given both of us a sausage egg and cheese. I am plant-based, so I gave it to someone else in my home to eat, but they realized that the egg was burnt to the point that it looked like a sausage. I'm disappointed to say that Macphail's has gone downhill. A burnt egg should have never been placed on this sandwich. Instead, I will recommend Rosewater on Water St. it's open year-round and so far has not disappointed.

Yelp
We hit this place up upon arriving on the island. You would expect at 12:30 that there would be a line out the door, but there was none even though the street was bustling with activity. The lobster roll is excellent, albeit on the high side on cost; but what can you expect on the island. The cheeseburger was very tasty according to the kids. Veggieburger, also good. Lunch entrées are accompanied by mixed greens with balsamic which is a nice, light seaside accompaniment. Perfect spot to grab some food, find a bench on the pier, and watch the boats come in and out.

Yelp
Forgot about me while I was waiting for my order. My family left. The place was empty. Ugh. The staff said " we were working on the order of the person ahead of you ". Not true. They had already received their food and left. And as soon as I said something they jumped into action.

K G.

Yelp
I tried the chicken sandwich again after a few years and it was horrible. Mac-FAILS should be the name. The chicken sandwich is so lame. Only chicken, cheese and bacon. No veggies and appears to be a frozen chicken patty. Stay away, terrible and expensive.

Kara K.

Yelp
Food, service, and vibe were phenomenal. They were very accommodating and served the lobster roll on gluten free bread! All of the food was great... would return!

William R.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito with the thousand island sauce (aka MacPhail's sauce- you have to ask them to add it) is literally the best on the island, cannot recommend enough. Apparently they have other good food as well but they could have a one item menu and it would still be worth it. Seating is serviceable but there isn't a ton and the outside isn't in the shade, so maybe grab something here and walk somewhere else nearby.

Yelp
One of the best lobster rolls I've had in a while. This little shop on the corner has a small but great menu of lobster roll, burger, popcorn chicken, hot dog and chicken sandwich. We ordered two lobster rolls and they were delicious. Lobster was slightly shredded and was mixed with light mayo. We arrived on a Saturday around 2:30p and we were lucky enough to get the last two. They ran out of lobster for the next customer. Would definitely recommend getting in early for a lunch!

Loren M.

Yelp
Extremely average. Chicken sandwich was mid and the bacon looked microwaved. Grilled cheese was stupid small for $14 and greasy. Would skip this place even if hungry, keep walking

Yelp
Good street food for the area, could be better. Prices are extremely jacked up unfortunately, and lobster rolls are so-so.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place by accident but I'm really glad we did! My friends and I ordered lobster rolls (~$22 each) and they were amazing!!! Our rolls were filled with lobster and they were very fresh! The staff was very friendly and the cafe was clean. Also, the truffle fries were really good. We will definitely be coming back again!!
google avatar

Yelp
Location of this place is fantastic and the aesthetic is pleasing. However, the prices are really jacked up considering the size of the portions compared to other restaurants in the area. I ordered the lobster rolls and they claim to be the best but they clearly are not. My wife and I tried lobster rolls from four different places on the island and I would say that this one is either third or fourth out of four. Overall I probably would not return to this location specifically for their food but it would also not be the last place that I would go to.

Yelp
$21.99 for lobster roll, $3.25 for an Izze, and $4.50 fries. Decent lobster roll, good fries, but the guy at the cash register is only nice to hot young girls. Good for a quick meal. Not much seating.
google avatar

Dassi H.

Yelp
Very tasty chicken sandwich! Ate here multiple times while staying in Edgartown, It was the closest thing I could get to Chick-fil-A being that there's none on the island. Super cute atmosphere but hardly any seating. Get takeout and sit on the harbor!

Terryann S.

Yelp
So I went to MacPhrails to purchase a cinnamon roll, pay cash the counter Clerk took my cash , gave me my change then she held my food with her hand, when I ask if that's is my food and why is she holding it without a gloves or paper? She told me she uses hand sanitizer!! I told her to give me my cash I don't need it!! That is so gross!! Will never ever go back there!! I will let my friends and family know!!

Yelp
Such a cute tiny space ! My husband and I stopped by for a quick bite in the morning. Luckily we missed the morning rush and got to get our order quickly :) even if there was a wait it's well worth it!

Yelp
Lobster roll is now $21.95 and no fries or salad with it. Still delicious. No longer serves chowder. Fast pick up.

Yelp
After getting off the ferry from a great afternoon beaching at Chappy and touring the gardens on the island we found this place. We all bought lobster rolls and it was a magical end to our day. Loaded w lots of lobster and the service was quick. I dream of that roll and trying to replicate the recipe for a lobster roll night from many miles away. Good job!

K M.

Yelp
Not a good lobster roll anymore -Try Net Result , Bens Seafood & Pizza , Nancy's and Linda Jeans. Plump meat less filler.
google avatar

Haley J.

Yelp
Best iced chai tea around!! Good food too! Cute little shop, nice place to hang out and have a quick cold drink before going for a sail!

Kerry W.

Yelp
A great place for coffee and a muffin or a sandwiches for the beach. While staying on the Vineyard for 5 days we had coffee there daily. Even purchased 2 high quality T Shirts to commemorate our trip.

Seth R.

Yelp
Did a little Edgartown exploring a few weeks ago. Breakfast and coffee being a big deal to me had me hunting down a good place for a quick bite with good coffee. I'll say this place had a decent breakfast sandwich and an okay iced coffee. Easy location to find and it was quick service so it did the trick there but just a little unhappy with the coffee quality. Lunch menu did look promising.

Yelp
Nikki and Tisho are very awesome people and make my experience delightful. The popcorn chicken is superb and much better than the Quarterdeck. The prices are more fair for the vineyard. Lastly, them cookies I made scrumptious

Yelp
Everything about this place is cute including the staff. I was running short of cash post birthday night out and only had enough for a bagel. Somebody ordered coffee and left it and the delightful girls at Mac Phails gave me one of their delicious fair trade coffee rather than throwing it out. I'm enjoying it right now :)
google avatar

Pamela J.

Yelp
Very happy they had almond milk for my iced latte! Baked goods beyond delicious too. Nice little corner location in the heart of Edgartown. Would recommend.

Tamy C.

Yelp
Amazingly TASTING lobster roll with perfect shoe string fries and pickle AND homemade Arnold Palmer for $25? Awesome, I'll take another

D B.

Yelp
Hoping the owner sees this. Why does the phone ring and ring and ring with no answer? In a time of pandemic and takeout as the only option, I would think phone orders are common. I have tried to call multiple times, different days, and only succeeded once at being able to speak with someone. Fantastic food but not takeout friendly
google avatar

Graham S.

Yelp
My kids usually love the popcorn chicken but today it was over cooked and barely had any chicken. It was basically just over fried breading.
google avatar

Hank M.

Yelp
This is a great addition to Edgartown! Great coffee and food. And you can't beat the lobster roll / chowder special!

Ava T.

Yelp
This spot is great! My family and I were in the Vineyard, an needed a quick and easy place to eat. We came to this place, and it was amazing! My brother and I both got breakfast burritos- THEY WERE AMAZING- my mom got a veggie burger, and my dad got a hot dog. They both said that they were one of the best they've ever had. We went back for a second time two days later, and again, it didn't fail us. I tried the hot dog (SO GOOD.) We had a good experience there. If you need a quick place to go for any meal of the day, this is the place to go. Enjoy :)

Cavan M.

Yelp
My daughter chose this location and we were not disappointed. Everything was hot and freshly cooked. My daughter raved about the hot dog and the way the bun was toasted. My wife had the egg sandwich which was a bit of a disappointment but still tasted fine. Overall, it is a place I would go back to, so they get a solid 4 stars.

Avari L.

Yelp
The food was really good!! Highly recommend this place for a quick and cheap lunch. Great spot too!

Yelp
Truly the BEST Lobster roll I've had during my trip to MV! Also, love that their cheeseburger comes with avocado. Super friendly, helpful staff and quick service. Not to mention the ADORABLE, trendy environment!

F H.

Yelp
Great lobster roll! Don't make the mistake of going to the fancy looking places across the street - this is the roll.
google avatar

Pete S.

Yelp
What happened? Maybe at one time they had the best lobster rolls on the Island, but it's time for another vote! One half of the roll was tasty, however the other half was just bread and lettuce. Definitely not worth the $18.99/roll price tag. Time to take the "best lobster roll" sign down. My advice is go somewhere else.

Madison M.

Yelp
I haven't gotten much here. Their breakfast sandwich wasn't the best, and I haven't had a chance to try their coffee yet. So, you might be wondering why I'm giving this place five stars. The cinnamon coffee cake muffin. Dear lord. This is the stuff that I dream about. I wait an entire year to get back to the island, and this is always the first place I go. Toasted and with butter, it literally melts in your mouth. Heaven on earth. GET THE MUFFIN.

Clark L.

Yelp
The food was alright. Exactly what to expect from the price. The sauce on the burger and chicken sandwich was fabulous, but the quality of the meat was not good. My burger tasted like horse meat, and that was unsettling. Overall it was an ok place, just avoid the burger

Dominic B.

Yelp
Apparently everything in this place is famous. What I want to know is by whose standards. The coffee is excellent. No problems there thankfully. I tried the "famous" breakfast sandwich. No idea why this is famous. Creepily similar to a dunkin donuts breakfast sandwich, the egg was clearly mass produced on sheet pans in the oven with scrambled eggs. Being the only cooked breakfast item on the menu, I'd be shocked if they use real eggs. The result was a sponge brick of egg (like DD, just slightly thicker) with 1 piece if American cheese and bacon. While it didn't taste bad, you will not get many (or any) options here for a cooked breakfast. You may love this place if you like the colder variety (muffins and scones) Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed.

Yelp
Amazing coffee!! It's fair trade and SO good!! Very fairly priced, and the iced chai tea is good too!!! Can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Yelp
Great lattes and relaxing atmosphere.
google avatar

Marlee B.

Yelp
Always quick service and good (strong) coffee. I've grabbed a brew or two here every visit to Edgartown. Consistently refreshing drinks with equally consistent friendly service.

Courtney P.

Yelp
Awesome food, cute store front and awesome service. And they're open all day into the night this summer! Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Beth A.

Yelp
I believe this place is under new management this year. Our salad was great - fresh and tasty. Coffee excellent and the servers were incredibly helpful and friendly.
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Dreadful coffee experience.... We ordered latte and cappuccino's... They were so bad we threw them in the bin and didn't finish them. Tasted like the machine needed cleaning and the milk was burnt.

Bill D.

Yelp
The worst breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The english muffin was not toasted or warm and the bacon was RAW. Best location in town and empty. Breakfast spot up the street had a line that I noticed after. Oh well!

Eric F.

Yelp
Amazing lobsta roll. Best I've had in Massachusetts. Great, friendly service. Tasty frozen lemonade. Highly recommend this spot over anywhere else for a quick bite while in Edgardtown
