MACq 01 Hotel (Hobart, Tasmania) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the Tasmanian capital of Hobart, on Macquarie Wharf, you’ll find a long, wood-paneled building standing sentinel over the waterfront. Inside it is MACq 01, whose most enticing rooms come with balconies overlooking the docks, with the bright, modern, and understated décor having the good sense not to distract you from the stunning harbor views. A restaurant and two bars decorated in dark, sultry tones are perfect for evening drinks while you watch the sunset over the sparkling waters outside." - Tablet Hotels

This is the third time we have had the privilege of staying at the MACq||Each time we have been greeted with friendly professional staff who cannot do enough to make you feel welcome , this time was no exception. Our room had a great view, just as we had requested. It was spotless clean and bed super comfy. We had room service breakfast as well as dining in the Restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent and cooked exactly how we had requested. Can recommend the Oysters, Octopus and the eye fillet.||Can definitely recommend this Hotel and Restaurant to those who are visiting Hobart.

A truly memorable experience! Everything was simply spot on, from the service from all staff, the location, cleanliness and best all the connections this hotel has to Tasmania. The links to the history of Tasmania and the characters who made the Island what it is today is proudly on display and celebrated throughout. Highly recommend staying here, it made our trip even more memorable.

The service by staff was absolutely tops. Highly recommend staying. Room was great overlooking the water. Large room. A gift was left for our anniversary and birthday. Thank you. Was very much appreciated.

200% Hotel, especially for service. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The rooms are stunning, especially the Top Floor ones. The balcony views are epic, and the bed & pillows are Superb! Special shoutout to Phoebe in Reservations - THANK YOU! 👌🎉😍 The team made a very special occasion so much better. 🙏👏 Fully recommend this hotel, and the restaurant. Make sure you get valet parking added too, extra special touch. Location is very nice too, as lots of food options around in walking distance, if you're staying for a while. The salamanka markets are a short walk away. The hotel has a great range of drinks to try as well, make sure you allow time to explore.

Truly an amazing experience. From check in to check out everything was so smooth and easy. The room had incredible views and facilities, the included breakfast was delicious and the complimentary valet parking was great too. I made a funny ‘special request’ which the wonderful team made happen and was the cherry on top of a memorable stay. I will definitely be back.

My partner and I had a special 3 night stay here and can hands down say this was the best hotel experience either of us had ever had. We truly cannot wait to stay here again. Can't fault the place, thankyou so much for the best stay for our Hobart trip!

Beautiful building of high quality. Rooms are quite large, tho bathrooms lack lighting as the colour scheme is dark. Just one good light in the bathroom would be good for putting make-up on or Shaving properly. The beds are large and comfortable. Quite clean. Light-blocking curtains don't quite reach the ends,so light will come through. The staff are wonderful. Helpful and friendly. Esp breakfast staff. Very accommodating

The MACq 01 was the best hotel that we have stayed in and we have stayed in five star hotels around the world. Everything from the rooms to the views to the in house restaurant were amazing. Staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Winter was an amazing time where you could sit around the fire with drink in hand. Location was central to the waterfront precinct where most of the restaurants and tour desks were located. I could not recommend the MACq 01 highly enough and would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Hobart. Would love to stay again.

Yelp
This hotel is located on the harbor and is within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants in the harbor area, as well as the Saturday morning market. I highly recommend requesting a harbor view room, the sights and sounds are lovely. This hotel offers history tours and every room has a tribute to a historical person of Tasmania. The lighting and decor create a modern and darkly elegant atmosphere. The room was very spacious, with a large bathroom that had heated floors in front of the mirror. There was a bathtub and separate shower and a very large closet area. They offered all amenities you would need and had a nice selection of snacks and drinks, and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel has a downstairs restaurant as well as a tapas restaurant located right next door. They offer a exercise room as well as a self serve laundry or hotel dry cleaning service. But the star service at this hotel are the people. Everyone we met was amazingly kind, attentive and helpful. That service made this a 5 star hotel!

Yelp
We arrived in Hobart in the middle of summer and stayed at the MACq 01 Hotel. I was stunned by the beautiful layout and architecture that really blends characteristics of the wharf but also that of the natural environment of Tasmania. Walk into the lobby and you'll instantly understand what I'm talking about! There's a beautiful lounge area that allows for guests to grab an afternoon drink. Order from their bar menu and you can get some incredibly savory treats. The charcuterie board was my favorite. Their wine lists feature a lot of local wines and Tasmanian wine is among the best. After checking in, you can take the elevator upstairs to your rooms. Unfortunately they don't air condition the public space but they keep the windows open on both sides. That allows a breeze to come through on either side. However once you step into the room, you can control the thermostat yourself. Each room features a Tasmanian individual. Read about their biography on your door and familiarize yourself with some Tasmanian history! Inside, the rooms are modern, spacious and comfortable eliciting the same response you probably had when you first walked into the lobby. Love the wood they use to decorate and really makes you feel at peace as you stay there. The tap water is safe to drink and much better tasting than anything you can get in the US! The hotel itself is just a 10 min walk to the Salamanca market and about a 15 min walk to anything else downtown in Hobart. There are many restaurants and art galleries around for those looking to take home some local souvenirs. The hotel is also fund raising for the bush fires so you can purchase a plush koala, wombat or tassie devil and all the money goes to charities helping with the ramifications of the wild fires. Internet is available here but really slow and difficult to connect to (encourages you to get out of your room and actually explore Tasmania). I really enjoyed my stay here in Hobart and I look forward to any future opportunities to travel here again!

Yelp
About 3 months old when we visited, this is the newest hotel in Hobart. It's worth coming here and staying a weekend. Not just for Hobart, which is awesome, but that the whole hotel is themed. It's all about the history of Hobart, with rooms themed to the different characters from Hobart's history. It's a pretty large hotel - get a room facing the harbour if you can - it's a great view. They've made the effort to have storytellers on site as well, which give you a tour of the Hobart area near the hotel - we attended one of these which was exceptionally well done. The food both in the restaurant and breakfast is exceptional, so if you are staying here (or nearby), try it out. It's also not as busy as some of the restaurants nearby (not as well known yet) so a good option. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Stayed 4 nights. Gorgeous location. Great location/view on the harbor. Brand new, modern, stylish. I love that they have free valet and that each room has a balcony. Within walking distance to most things. The rooms are beautiful and have a great mini bar. HD TV with a Bose speaker to hook your electronics up. Plenty of outlets. Super comfortable bed. Soundproof room. Friendly and attentive staff. Great food options in the hotel if you don't want to go out. Best part: They have these amazing heavy weight robes! I'm thinking of buying one to take home. Cons: The bathroom has terrible lighting. They provided a lighted mirror, but it was difficult to apply my makeup and there was no mirror outside of the bathroom that was any better.

Yelp
The storytelling tour of Hobart is one of the most amazing tours I have ever taken. Justin, the master storyteller, was a tour de force, with wonderful, entertaining stories. We could have listened to him all day! Rmeakable person, amazing tour.
