MACq 01 Hotel (Hobart, Tasmania) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the Tasmanian capital of Hobart, on Macquarie Wharf, you’ll find a long, wood-paneled building standing sentinel over the waterfront. Inside it is MACq 01, whose most enticing rooms come with balconies overlooking the docks, with the bright, modern, and understated décor having the good sense not to distract you from the stunning harbor views. A restaurant and two bars decorated in dark, sultry tones are perfect for evening drinks while you watch the sunset over the sparkling waters outside." - Tablet Hotels

We had an amazing overnighter at this hotel. Faultless. The waterfront suite was beautiful and very spacious with the inclusion of the outside deck. Service excellent. Breakfast experience excellent. Location excellent. Bars and restaurants associated are fantastic. A definite must stay location in Hobart.

We stayed at MACq 01 Hotel in Hobart for my 30th birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady at reception who surprised us with a room upgrade. The Waterfront Suite is truly stunning — the view is amazing, and all the amenities were excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every staff member we met was so friendly and polite. Everything exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was the best I’ve ever had, and the coffee was fantastic. The pastries were fresh and absolutely delicious. It was an amazing choice for my 30th birthday, and I cannot wait to stay there again. Thank you!

Google
Fantastic spot, lovely interesting design-forward rooms. We had an amazing view over the harbour and cruise ships coming in. What actually was stand out though was the service - this hotel is staffed by the most genuinely lovely and helpful people. From the lovely man on the front desk who helped us get sorted with a microwave and milk to settle our tired toddler after a late and delayed evening flight, the valets who helped us with our car every day, to the caring and thoughtful woman who served us in the restaurant and delivered our room service on Christmas Day no less. everyone was just such a breath of fresh air to deal with compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at. None of it felt put on or about getting a tip. They were just nice and happy to help. Will definitely be back.

This is not normally my sort of hotel, as I tend to like small boutique hotels, but this is so good it fully deserves five stars. I assume it was converted from a warehouse, but the conversion is magnificent. The rooms are spacious and superbly equipped. We looked out onto the harbour through a large window with balcony. Breakfast was included in our deal and was superb. The range of baked goods was immense. Staff very helpful. Highly recommended.

Booked room 101 which was spacious and quiet. We enjoyed the excellent service , the friendly and helpful staff. Old Warf restaurant visit didn’t go well when they seated us so the sun was shining in my face during dinner. Breakfast is very good with a broad array of food and cooked dishes to order. We booked the massage through Lavada which is across the street. Highly recommend Lavada. Gym is small but adequate.

and the story continues.||||Apparently my 2023 review never made it out of draft... so there's a chapter missing. The Queen's first visit! It was that visit that had my elderly mum demanding that we stay there again and this was a big attraction to going on the particular cruise||||FF to Dec 25, Silver Moon glides into town right behind the Story Bar....||||Day 1 is onboard, but I had to pick up the hire car.... Kudos to front of house for a seamless collection||||Day 2 we are told to be off the ship before 8:45am.. to early to check in, but there was no point packing the car as it was parked almost at the ramp to the hotel.||||Check in: was easy, but my room had been forgotten... I had a confirmation email so it was quickly sorted with a lovely upgrade for me and mum's suite was beeeee u tifull. ||||Rooms: Yes, mum had Taffy, the hotel image. Her room was exactly where I had requested and the bathroom flooring non slip (Waterfront tiling can be a little slippery). There was a great view from the balcony area and two comfy seating options. ||||Dining/Drinking: ||Story Bar: Absolutely adored the Colourful and Quirky cocktail so I had to have another. Not quite as good on day 2...no pretty purple flower.||Dinner both nights was off site.||Breakfast, OMG, I really love a la carte and the menu choice was great, good variety and way too much food.||Evolve: Website said it was open, but it wasn't. Easily sorted as one of the yung gentleman offered us the menu and went inside to fetch our tipple of choice.||||Storytelling tour: Karissa did an excellent job and we were well entertained.||||Service Culture: This was the best experience I have had a Macq01. Everything worked. Rooms serviced promptly so afternoons could be spent relaxing, turn down done and most used items replaced. ||||Huge shout out to leader Lauren, whom i saw helping out behind the bar. The true essence of leadership.||||The story will continue

We were excited to stay at the hotel but unfortunately, our stay was not as good as we were expecting. Cleanliness of room could have been better. Some ares were good such as front desk staff, others not so. (Be aware that furnishings/paint etc are very dark and make the room quite dark, even with all of the lights on, bit annoying). Good location on the river. Our stay just didn't feel as welcoming and smooth as it should have for this level of hotel.

Google
Very nice hotel in Hobart. Good position, close to everything, modern, new, clean and friendly. We had 2 superior waterfront room which are very large rooms facing the Harbour - rooms 105 & 106.||Only criticisms|A) only 3 stories high - we had a room on level 1 and had a tug boat parked out front looking straight into our room. We specifically asked for a high floor so disappointing. ||B) rooms were dark in the back areas where the clothes cupboard & bathroom were - very poor lighting. ||The restraunt Fellini was great Italian food ; and the bar was excellent.

Yelp
This hotel is located on the harbor and is within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants in the harbor area, as well as the Saturday morning market. I highly recommend requesting a harbor view room, the sights and sounds are lovely. This hotel offers history tours and every room has a tribute to a historical person of Tasmania. The lighting and decor create a modern and darkly elegant atmosphere. The room was very spacious, with a large bathroom that had heated floors in front of the mirror. There was a bathtub and separate shower and a very large closet area. They offered all amenities you would need and had a nice selection of snacks and drinks, and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel has a downstairs restaurant as well as a tapas restaurant located right next door. They offer a exercise room as well as a self serve laundry or hotel dry cleaning service. But the star service at this hotel are the people. Everyone we met was amazingly kind, attentive and helpful. That service made this a 5 star hotel!

Yelp
We arrived in Hobart in the middle of summer and stayed at the MACq 01 Hotel. I was stunned by the beautiful layout and architecture that really blends characteristics of the wharf but also that of the natural environment of Tasmania. Walk into the lobby and you'll instantly understand what I'm talking about! There's a beautiful lounge area that allows for guests to grab an afternoon drink. Order from their bar menu and you can get some incredibly savory treats. The charcuterie board was my favorite. Their wine lists feature a lot of local wines and Tasmanian wine is among the best. After checking in, you can take the elevator upstairs to your rooms. Unfortunately they don't air condition the public space but they keep the windows open on both sides. That allows a breeze to come through on either side. However once you step into the room, you can control the thermostat yourself. Each room features a Tasmanian individual. Read about their biography on your door and familiarize yourself with some Tasmanian history! Inside, the rooms are modern, spacious and comfortable eliciting the same response you probably had when you first walked into the lobby. Love the wood they use to decorate and really makes you feel at peace as you stay there. The tap water is safe to drink and much better tasting than anything you can get in the US! The hotel itself is just a 10 min walk to the Salamanca market and about a 15 min walk to anything else downtown in Hobart. There are many restaurants and art galleries around for those looking to take home some local souvenirs. The hotel is also fund raising for the bush fires so you can purchase a plush koala, wombat or tassie devil and all the money goes to charities helping with the ramifications of the wild fires. Internet is available here but really slow and difficult to connect to (encourages you to get out of your room and actually explore Tasmania). I really enjoyed my stay here in Hobart and I look forward to any future opportunities to travel here again!

Yelp
About 3 months old when we visited, this is the newest hotel in Hobart. It's worth coming here and staying a weekend. Not just for Hobart, which is awesome, but that the whole hotel is themed. It's all about the history of Hobart, with rooms themed to the different characters from Hobart's history. It's a pretty large hotel - get a room facing the harbour if you can - it's a great view. They've made the effort to have storytellers on site as well, which give you a tour of the Hobart area near the hotel - we attended one of these which was exceptionally well done. The food both in the restaurant and breakfast is exceptional, so if you are staying here (or nearby), try it out. It's also not as busy as some of the restaurants nearby (not as well known yet) so a good option. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Stayed 4 nights. Gorgeous location. Great location/view on the harbor. Brand new, modern, stylish. I love that they have free valet and that each room has a balcony. Within walking distance to most things. The rooms are beautiful and have a great mini bar. HD TV with a Bose speaker to hook your electronics up. Plenty of outlets. Super comfortable bed. Soundproof room. Friendly and attentive staff. Great food options in the hotel if you don't want to go out. Best part: They have these amazing heavy weight robes! I'm thinking of buying one to take home. Cons: The bathroom has terrible lighting. They provided a lighted mirror, but it was difficult to apply my makeup and there was no mirror outside of the bathroom that was any better.

Yelp
The storytelling tour of Hobart is one of the most amazing tours I have ever taken. Justin, the master storyteller, was a tour de force, with wonderful, entertaining stories. We could have listened to him all day! Rmeakable person, amazing tour.
