Ordered the 18" "Cheese pie" pie ($27.99, used to be $26). Asked for almost "well-done."
The dough was the best aspect: Bottom-side and edges were crisp on the outside without being dry, and bubbly and airy inside (this pie was actually one of the lighest weight 18" pies I've carried!), but the top-side, underneath the cheese, was somewhat under-done, even though the cheese was a thin (yet adequate) layer.
Cheese was fine (nothing standout).
The weakest aspect of the pie to me, was the tomato sauce: it was boring and almost unappetizing (as if they used Unico tomatoes) and somewhat watery.
I appreciate that they dont advertise as "New York style" or any other style. This strip of Bloor, from Dufferin to Lansdowne, is loaded with established pizza restos: (unique and superb) Levant Pizza, (unique and quirky) Ambassador Pizza, (over-rated) Maker Pizza, (old-school and reputable) 241 Pizza, (amazing and reputable) Conzo's Pizza (and Sugo next door), (cheap and unique) Chito's Pizza.
In this crowd, I would conclude that Mac's Pizza has easily one of the best doughs of them all, but one of the weaker tomato sauces. Essentially, it is almost, but not quite, as good Conzo's, but in the same league, overall. Definitely a must-try if in the area. And they also offer slices of their signature pies (at least $5 each, and did not try).
