On the Grid : Mad Cucumber

"This laid-back community cafe was the pioneer in 2013 of vegan dining in Bournemouth, making it a great place to connect with the local vegan scene if you’re new to town. With no business or restaurant experience, Polish couple Kamil and Ewalina transformed a vacant location into a vegan landmark. This meat-free meeting place turns out simple comfort food from a small kitchen, but manages to span Thai to Mexican, smoothies to Stroganoff. Look out for the occasional late opening to incorporate Open Mic nights, DJ spots or live music." - Bright Blue Day

We love the Mad Cucumber! The food is excellent, great value for money. Never any issues - so much choice as it is all vegan. Great service.

It's an interesting place and I should explore it more with food as we only took carrot cake and vegan cheese cake, we also tried the chai latte and beetroot latte, it's ok, it wasn't wow and it could use a bit of a pick me up with the design but all in all it's great to have a vegan restaurant

Love this place! The special satay udon noodles were so good 🌱 also a great selection of sweet treats too. Recommend if you have anxiety like me I felt totally comfortable and the staff are helpful and nice 🖤

We became regulars on our recent long weekend trip to Bournemouth for my hen do. The breakfast & brunch options are great and super yummy. The English Breakfast was done just the way it should be (non-vegan places just can't do a decent vegan English breakfast!) and the portion was big. But the highlight was probably the pancakes which were just devine. Highly recommend!

We being a vegetarian family were tired of finding limited vegetarian options at restaurants, and when we came across this vegan restaurant, we were eager to try, mainly because we didn’t have to go through the hassle of identifying which dishes were suitable for us. This restaurant exceeded our expectations with food and service and ambience. There were board games and books that were available for us to play and read while we waited for our food. It was nice to see so many options on the menu, plus the specials board. Loved it so much that I went for lunch on one day and breakfast on the day after. If I come back to Bournemouth again, I will definitely visit the Mad Cucumber again

Yumbles! I stumbled across this unassuming but busy little vegan cafe. Desperate for something heathy to eat I bought their beetroot hummus salad and berry smoothie. Absolutely lovely, so healthy and served with a smile. Hurrah! They also sell protein shakes for those who’ve just staggered out of the gym :-). PS you need fat to properly absorb protein so just enjoy the fatty peanuts and oils present in the food and stop fussing.

Food was tasty and filling. Waitresses were attractive, friendly and competent. Prices were fair. Background ambient noise was an acceptable level. The very antithesis to your average McDonald's experience. Couldn't fault it at all. Nice one guys 👏

First time visit. Tried the coffee (source Bad Hand) and asked. Both excellent. Excited to have a good choice of GF vegan and plan to return soon for lunch. Very nice young lady attended to us. Reasonable prices
