"On the way to Lancaster, we stop in Adamstown, in Pennsylvania, which has a lot of antique stores on and off North Reading Street. Mad Hatter Antique Mall is one. But really just go inside any antique store in Adamstown — it’s known as the antique capital."

Nice, but i noticed some hats looked like labels pulled out of mens hats on the bottom shelf. A weird mark inside on top. But it's still nice, friendly, and has a huge selection.

This is an excellent antique store, in an attractive building, well-situated on a creek in town. Inside is neat, clean, well-lit and professionally organized with a helpful, if somewhat brusque staff. Prices are pretty great. My only issue is that when I asked for greater assistance at the counter, their response was more what they cannot do, versus what they can do. Oh well, this is America now...

2024-05-05 - 4 Stars Just like any other antique mall. Did fine one item that was priced right. There were lots of items way overpriced for what we were looking for. If we are ever back in the area we might stop in, but would not be first on the top of the list.

I hit 8 different places today and this one was the winner for cool stuff and decent prices. (I know, personal opinion, of course) Super friendly staff, clean building, and well light so you could see what you were looking at. I would stop by again. FYI - the lamp in the picture? I bought it, don’t bother going to look for it, lol

There are definitely some unique and interesting pieces here. There was a whole section of mid century items. There are a lot of old toys and figurines. If you are some sort of collector, this would be a good place for you. It was a bit smaller inside than I was expecting, but it was still a decent size. Plenty of parking right outside.

Sorry not impressed. Actually disappointed because this has been on my list for several months and we finally drove out that way to stop here specifically. I would hardly call this an antique mall. Pretty small compared to many others in the state I cannot express how annoying it is to be followed by a staff with keys. I really do not know what her intentions were if you thought I was going to steal or if you wanted me to buy something and you were just on stand by if I needed a case open? Regardless I prefer not to be followed. And if you wanted me to buy something you could have said hello I'm here if needed, something along those lines. Positive side very clean and nice selection. But very overpriced! We won't be back. Will stick with my regular antique dealers

Google
Massive, indoor antique mall that has everything from militaria, glassware, jewelry, furniture and toys. So many things will catch your eye and bring back memories of times in your childhood. Definitely schedule yourself plenty of time to explore, super friendly staff and ample parking provided.

Great Antique Mall in an old building. Well lit displays and lots of cool goodies to drool over. Opens early on Sunday, so that makes it doubly great! Friendly staff, a whole vintage MCM area. We will definitely be back

Yelp
This establishment is amazing! Well organized, lots of merchandise for sale with a wide range of options. Prices were reasonable and staff were friendly. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
[901] 4/22/2019 This is probably my favorite antique mall around. Plenty of parking at this location. The store is set up with tons of different vendors. You pick what you want and pay in the front. All items are clearly marked. Most booths have discounts. They have staff walking around to help customers or just bring your item to the front. This made for easy shopping. The store is clean. Credit card is accepted. I'll definitely be back

Yelp
Mad Hatter Antique Mall is among the many antique stores located between Reading and Ephrata on PA 272. Adamstown Antique Mall, Mad Hatter Antique Mall, Pine Hills Antique Mall, and one other are all owned by the same people, with all being different in terms of selection. Pine Hills is the highest end, Adamstown is the most rustic, with Mad Hatter being somewhere in the middle and in my opinion the best. Adamstown and Mad Hatter are across the street from each other. Mad Hatter is easy to find being directly off PA 272, but the building also stands out as it was some sort of factory. Entrance and plenty of parking is located in the back of the building. Interior looks like an old factory and this is a booth style antiques store. These stores tend to use more locking cabinets then other booth style antique stores. Selection is what you would expect from an antiques store like this and included clothing, collectables, home items, and toys. The interior of the building was smaller then expected, as they do not use the second floor. Overall, this is an average booth style antique store, but in my opinion might be the best in the area due to its diversity in selection. Don't forget to check out the Bollman Hat Company Factory Store, which is also located on the grounds.

Yelp
Sensory overload on overpriced junk. The prices were sky high with a lot of inventory. I wish them luck in this economy.

Yelp
Great place to find your treasures! The staff was awesome and helpful! We loved coming here. Could have spent all day here. Good deals and prices. Although, the Catherineholm was overpriced in my opinion. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
My absolute favorite Antiques mall that I've been to in the US. A store with everything! This place is organized well, has a diverse selection of everything you could want, and the staff is extremely accommodating and welcoming. They start with giving you a number that associates to a bin. As you walk around the store they periodically come up to you to take your items to be stored in your bin at the register. We easily spent 2 hours inspecting each sellers case and deciding which items to take. The items are reasonably priced around the same prices as other local Antique shops. Anything over $10 automatically gets a 10% discount and don't be afraid to ask for an additional discount. In some cases the sellers will do more. By far a good place to find treasures.

Yelp
We have been visiting the Mad Hatter for several years. I don't always find something, as is the way with antiquing, but I enjoy the variety of items here. The display cases are nicely maintained and prices range from very reasonable to pricey. It is a pleasant place to stroll and take your time. The staff is friendly and accommodating, not stuffy like some of the other malls in the area. This one remains one of my favorites.

Krystin Z.

Yelp
They have a much better variety then Adamstown antique mall which is right across the street from the mad hatter, I guess if your looking for specific stuff it's ok

Yelp
Stopped into the Mad Hatter for the first time. It's a pretty big warehouse like store with all kinds of antiques and artifacts. I more less browsed. Prices were anywhere from ok to a bit high. The staff seemed friendly, bathrooms were clearly visible and parking had plenty of spaces. I also liked that they had a ramp for strollers or perhaps wheelchair accessible. Worth a look if you you're in the area.

Yelp
Our experience was okay. They must have felt a middle aged couple with children was really suspicious, as it felt like they followed us around the store. At one point I picked my crying son up from his stroller and a small crumb fell from his bum that I didn't notice and was told by staff to pick it up. Really? You had to make that an issue? Just made us feel like a problem for being there, so we won't go back. Very uncomfortable.

Yelp
All I have to say is bring comfy shoes because you'll want to explore every corner of this place. There are plenty of staff to help carry your selections to a "cubicle" for you to allow you to continue shopping without carrying anything which is a big help. Then when you are ready to check out you just approach the counter and tell them your cubicle number. It's well stocked with a variety of merchandise of just about anything you would be looking for. Very easy to find the building and plenty of parking. I know I'll be back.

Yelp
I like antiques - I really do, but god damn, this was sensory overload. I couldn't handle it. Tons of stuff so tightly packed, with deep prices that outpriced me. I think the average antique shopper would LOVE this place - but I'm more of a bargain hunter. I like to rummage and find the perfect deal. The diamond... this place is all gems. It took the thrill out of the hunt for me.

Margo M.

Yelp
Pros: This place is big, well organized w plenty of parking. They have a bit of everything. A ton of glassware. Cons: I found the stuff very pricey, especially for this area. A LOT of the wares are in glass cases which I don't like. Unless it's jewelry, find a way to display it so we can see things up close w/out 'finding someone w a key.' And they hide the prices, which turns me off. Not a lot of furniture - lots of knickknacks. Summary: much too high priced. I buy 2nd hand for deals & interesting finds. No deals here.

Yelp
So this review is based on finding a treasure-trove of Fiesta ware. The prices were amazing. The people helping were okay...front desk was fine, the helpers in the store not so much. Now we enjoy a place with a lot of booths, a lot of items, a lot of looking and searching required, so this matched our style completely. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Yelp
Not a pet friendly place " people are scared of dogs " excuse. Not a policy as the 3 front counter ladies asked each other in order to come with that lame excuse. Tip for you all: put a visible sign! About the store, not impressed, prices are definetly a $$$ instead of the yel

Yelp
Had a lot of stuff junk with alittle mid century modern. Was really disappointed that they would allow nazi arm bands at this place. Would never go back.

Yelp
It's hard for me to believe that Adamstown is the antiques capital of our country. This shop, like the rest, was so disappointing. Like the trend of selling newer antiques but with top prices. Finding a deal and/or a rare item is not going to happen. It's as though the dealers are casting off their own stock and keeping the good pieces. I'll never come back. But, if you're looking for glassware, ANY kind of glassware, this town is your jackpot.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! There are so many antique places in a 4 mile area, but this place really has some special stuff to break up the monotony of the 6000 Ranger Joe coffee mugs we've seen. The staff were available but not hovering and they all were smiling! Our favorite spot was the mod type dining/kitchen area in the back!

Yelp
Management is rude. I would never go back to this place . Very dissapointed in the short term nature that they conduct themselves . I found them frankly dishonest. Only reason to stop here is to use the toilet and that's only if you really really have too.

Yelp
The antique boutique is very lovely and organized. I just love going to places like this and hunting for the most unique antiques. We ended up makes a couple of purchases of items that we're on our list of this game we were hunting for. They also have two other shops worth going to.

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for the first time this morning, we drove about an hour and half specially to visit the mad hatter and few other similar shops in the area. We will absolutely never be back. There were some items we would of considered purchasing even if they were over priced. While we were walking around and browsing a male employee was VERY clearly following us around. He wasn't even trying to hide it, we would take a few steps and there he was right behind us, while looking around we weren't even really touching anything at all. A few times we walked a little quicker to see if we could shake him and then a few minutes later he would be right there a few feet away shaking his keys around, seriously this guy needs to get over himself. We felt extremely unwelcome so we didn't stay all that long. The store across the street however was great and the woman there was extremely friendly, they also had a much better selection.

Yelp
This place is huge! A really varied selection, from small items up to large pieces. It's your typical antique mall, with dozens of small "booths" within one large building. Staff circle regularly to help open cases or answer questions as needed. Easy to find, drive around behind the building for parking and the entrance. The aisles are clear and easy to navigate, and the staff will take your items up to the register and assign you a "cubby" to store things in. Like many of the antique malls I visited in the area, it's more like a collection of different rooms, so be methodical and take your time or you might miss a section!

Yelp
Great Antique Mall ,I Really Don't Understand People Writing Obnoxious Reviews, they just seem unable to compliment someone's Hard and Fine work.By the Way I'm a Dealer and I Find Great Deals Here!!! and I Have Been Coming for Years....

Yelp
Awesome place...well lit...good stuff...delightfully displayed!

Yelp
A favorite for sure. This place is quite large, lots to see from every era. Huge mid century selection as well.

Yelp
Mad Hatter is a wonderful antiques mall on the strip in Adamstown, PA. It features a variety of items at every price point, including glassware, pottery, furniture, lighting, clothing, and lots more. There's something for everyone here and the facility is well-lit and staffed by friendly, helpful people. They always run sales during the Extravaganza shows and the booths are always well stocked. I make sure I visit Mad Hatter every time I'm in Adamstown, it's a great place to shop!

Yelp
Fantastic place. Large, booths are full, employees are there to help. Clean, organized, good A/C! It was one of my favorite places I went to last week!

Yelp
Great place to shop! Lots of great vintage clothing! Staff is very friendly and helpful behind the counter.

Freddy S.

Yelp
There was a lot of cool stuff, but it was a bit out of my price range.

Jenn S.

Yelp
Not that impressed. Variety of items was good but merchandise was really over priced. For the size of this mall we did not find a single good deal. Will skip on future trips.

Amy T.

Yelp
Do you like paying double to triple the price of something you can you get on eBay or another store? If so, this place is for you. There is a generous selection of items, but the prices were so obnoxious, I couldn't get a good shopping groove. It's really a store for people that have no clue what anything is worth.

Susan B.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! Wide range of antiques and collectibles, with many different styles of booths to shop from. They have higher end antiques, and all kinds of other cool vintage items and collectibles(which is what I prefer!). I buy to resell, and have been able to find plenty of things here. I've always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. My gf was looking for scottie dog items, and the workers wandered around and helped her by locating items for her! I really like their check out system, they enter your purchases into a computer in advance, so you don't have to stand there waiting to pay. I don't wait well :) Three times a year the area of Adamstown PA has a huge Antique Extravaganza, totally worth going as there are lots of shops and sooooo many cool things to buy in that area! I give the Mad Hatter Five Stars, go check it out!
