How to Plan a Ski Trip to Powder Mountain

"About a 15-minute drive from the mountain in Eden, Mad Moose Café is an all-day local favorite where I start my day with house-roasted coffee and refuel after runs with a wide range of burgers and hot and cold sandwiches (including vegetarian options); the sweet potato fries are on nearly every table." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. The free cookie that came with the breakfast was disappointing. Small, hard, dry and tasted of baking soda and salt. Breakfast was good but it took a really long time. It also wasn’t anything special. We ate at Mad Moose the night before (found in the same parking lot) which in my opinion had better food and service.

Food and out door seating was awesome. Server Jerom needs to work on his hygiene and customer service. After seating me he said he would be right back with water. 5 minutes later he finally came back. I was trying to cut him some slack as the place seemed under staffed. Then the smell of body odor knocked me over. I quickly ordered so I could give my olfactory senses a break. He came back with the most delicious sandwich and salad and I asked for the check so I could eat and get back on the road. He said I’ll give you a minute to enjoy and be back. I was a quick eater as I was dining alone. Ten minutes later I’m done. I enjoyed the scenery for another 5 minutes and still no bill. I had to go inside and ask to pay my bill. Each time the server was apologetic but really when the patron specifically asks for the bill just give it to them.

Google
Really good pineview (pastrami) Burger when you add sauerkraut. Gyro was really good. Fries were really good. Kids enjoyed their burgers and the kids meal corn dog came with a good amount of ice cream and a cone. Want to try the French dip next time.

We are out of town visitors. This was a great local place to try! We had a table of 7 and they are food with large parties and kids. They have a small kids menu and a good sized dinner menu. I had the vegetarian sandwich and added turkey it was AMAZING. The French dip was great and the Greek salad was authentic with all cucumbers as the base. We went on a Friday night and it took a longer time to get our food but we were given complimentary bread for our wait. Give it a try!

Google
Delicious food, waited 40 minutes for it to come. Beautiful outdoor setting. Southwest Burger, onion rings were very good, and my wife loved her turkey avocado sandwich. Burger had some good spice.

Google
My husband and I were very delighted with the food here and service! Our server was pleasant and accommodating with some requests we had. The chefs food was top notch! It was very delicious and a fun little cafe. We haven’t had a good burger in awhile and this one hit the spot. We will definitely come here again in the future and would highly recommend. Thanks so much Mad Moose Cafe.

Google
Great food and service. I went here on Sunday, May 25th after a hike with a group. I got the Blu Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a peach smoothie. It was nice we got a cookie with the meal. The oatmeal rasin was good. The outdoor seating was nice and spacious for larger groups and pets. I will be back to try some other items on the menu.

Google
Great food after a long hike in the mountains. Free ice cream with each kid meal and the ice cream was delicious. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
Another Yelp win. My friends and I had just finished hiking at the reservoir and were looking for something to eat. This quaint little place really hit the spot. The waiter was very friendly and the service was fast. The food was excellent, too. Two of us had a turkey basil pesto panini with sweet potato fries and one had a salad with chicken. I didn't much care for the sauce that came with the fries, but the sandwich was fantastic. The free snickerdoodle cookie was a nice touch as well. I'm also looking forward to trying the hot cocoa mix I purchased on the way out.

Yelp
Disappointed and Frustrated Experience I called Mad Moose Cafe ahead of time to confirm they served breakfast and was told it was available until 11:30. I arrived well before that time, but we were given lunch menus and told breakfast was no longer being served because the owner decided they were "too busy." No heads-up, no sign, just a last-minute change. I ordered a BLT instead. The place was busy, but we were seated right away, so I expected a reasonable wait. After an hour of waiting with no update, the server returned to say the owner had now told her they were out of bacon. I had to change my order again and ended up waiting another 30 minutes -- an hour and a half total for a simple meal. There was no apology from management, no comp, no discount -- nothing to acknowledge the poor communication, lack of follow-through, or wasted time. This felt like a place overwhelmed and poorly managed, where decisions change on a whim and the customer experience takes a backseat. Disappointed and won't be returning.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast on a Saturday morning in Eden. I stopped in just after 7 am to order takeout since their open sign came on and the website said that's when they opened. They said they had "just gotten there" and it would be 30 minutes for an order. It took 45, which was a long wait, so I'd time it differently next time. I waited in the restaurant for my order and enjoyed a tasty coffee and took in the fun surroundings. Love the hand-illustrated menu board, music, and the employees were all helpful. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was great, and the hash browns perfect. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious.
google avatar

Shelley H.

Yelp
After waiting 30 minutes sitting unseen at the table, the server took my order and then returned to the table to say they didn't feel comfortable serving me because I have celiac disease. The owner was there but would not come out to speak with me to see if it might be possible to feed me. It is simple to take precautions but they didn't care to (the items I chose were naturally gluten free). I left hungry and embarrassed. People with disabilities exist too.

Yelp
Nice weather, not too crowded. Sat outside. Ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 glasses of prosecco. Waited longer then usual, seeing that the group next to us ordered at the same time and was finished eating before we got our sandwiches. Food was good. Beverage good. Service good. When we got back home i realized that for 2 beverages and 2 sandwiches and the standard 15% tip the lunch was $70! Inflation? I think this place is overpriced for a sandwich place

Yelp
Wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing morning with family and friends. The staff and food were outstanding.

Yelp
Randomly decided to take a pit stop at this place. Super cute ski town. Van was our server and she was great. Best server of the entire trip! We split the CA burger since we wanted some ice cream for dessert. She had amazing suggestions and was so sweet. We couldn't decide which icecream we wanted to she split the scoop in half and gave us both.

Tracey W.

Yelp
Best cappuccino! Foam is perfect!! Awesome omelet, enough for 2, homemade strawberry jam, yummy! Plate presentation is beautiful!! Thank you for great breakfast.

Stacie P.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery. Yummy food! You've got to try the chia tea! So good! Service was well!

Megan G.

Yelp
The food was so delicious and service was amazing! They have an extensive breakfast menu, including so many yummy coffees! Great indoor and outdoor seating with lovely flowers all around. We loved the music they played and everyone was so kind. Thank you to our server Ember for taking care of our large group!

Chris M.

Yelp
Expensive slow for food to come and they almost killed me with the kitchen not following up with the special food allergy order. Simple please no onions and first bite got a mouth full. Use to be good we live in town and have tried multiple times to like this place and just seems to get worse.

Yelp
For a very small town with even less options, the mad moose delivers excellent food and service with unique flare that will be hard to beat in Eden. We went with a group of 10 during lunchtime and the family run. Staff handled the large influx very well. We ordered everything from burgers, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches, adult, beverages, soda, milkshakes, ice cream and coffee. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals, and that did not even tap the more expensive menu that they have which included ice cream, floats, smoothies, Very in depth, coffee, menu and more. The quality of my meal was excellent and definitely would be hard-pressed to go anywhere else in town. Our server, Bradee, I was very kind, attentive, and quick with any small additional request that we had. Also the pleasure of meeting the owner who when we bought the above depicted cookies told us that he personally bakes each box which is a very neat personal touch. In addition to this, the establishment gets its name from present Theodore Roosevelt, but I will leave the rest of the knowledge to the new patrons as there is lots information posted around the restaurant. We just tried the cookies after our vacation and they are quite good and our crispy but soft at the same time as the initial bite has that crunch, but then the cookie dissolves in your mouth. Highly recommend buying a box. We also purchased some coffee as a gift in this unique potato sack. Overall, if you find yourself in this area and looking for a drink, whether alcohol, smoothie, coffee, or a bite to eat. I highly recommend the mad moose.

Yelp
YOU HAVE TO GO!! I crave this place everyday! There chipotle grilled cheese and just tried their burger with their cilantro dressing l... WOW could have it everyday for lunch! It only gets better with their cookie at the end to finish your meal!! Can't go wrong with any flavor! Service is amazing always quick and very personable! It is a cute little place and hits the spot after a ski day on the mountain or a date spot! If you've never had an affogato you have to try it! I'll let you figure out what that one is about!! Enjoy your meal!

Yelp
This is the cutest little cafe! They have great indoor and outdoor seating. They have delicious breakfast and lunch options. And their coffee is divine! I love taking the beautiful drive and then enjoying the scenery of this darling place. It is a favorite for my family and will always be our go-to on the weekends.

Larysa W.

Yelp
Great place for subtle history buffs. My boyfriend could not stop reading the posters. Food and service were fantastic! We were sat down quickly despite the holiday and had amazing food. I had the turkey avocado panini and my boyfriend the moose club. We love to lean towards any local ingredients when we can and our server was very knowledgeable. Blue cheese dressing, among many others, are made in house and / or locally sourced. French fries were skinny and delightfully crispy (but not too crispy) and we enjoyed a vast assortment of local beers.

Dusty D.

Yelp
Mad Moose was a delightful surprise. We were looking for dinner on a Sunday night after skiing at Powder Mountain. They accommodated our party of 7 even though they were pretty busy. The service was great and food came faster than expected. Brig, our waiter, went above and beyond. All of the food was good, but the Turkey Pesto sandwich was off the charts good. I didn't think you could make a sandwich that exceptional, but it was. Possibly the best bread I have ever had on a sandwich. The burger was a very big serving and good. 1 side item and cookie with every meal. We even met the owner on the way out. He was hustling and taking phone orders. This place is WAY more than a coffee shop, but they do roast coffee in house. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place; warm staff, wonderful owners, and delicious eats. Came for dinner and did not disappoint. Make sure to pick up a mug and bag of beans on your way out!!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because the location is perfect and the atmosphere couldn't be better. But the service was just so bad and after seeing other reviews it wasn't a one off thing. The food was delicious though so if you are willing to overlook poor service then maybe it's a good choice for you. We asked for a drink menu and never got one so we just had waters. The meals came with cookies and they offered snicker doodle, chocolate chip and something else, but it didn't matter because we never got the cookies. I'll probably still pop in for a coffee to go in the future but I'm not likely to eat here again unless it's a to-go order and I don't have to deal with the poorly run wait staff.

Yelp
This was such a cute little cafe. Right next to ski and snowboard rental shop! Definitely come check this place out! Such a homie vibes and delicious food! Lots of different options! My favorite was the hot apple cider with caramel was sooo delicious! And the service was amazing and would definitely come back when I'm back in town!

Aurelia F.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed my dining experience in Mad Moose, the service was excellent and the food was scrumptious. Our waitress was engaging and friendly, and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. My California burger was exceptional, and there was plentiful avocado which I thoroughly loved. The inviting atmosphere paired with the delicious food makes for a perfect meal out in Eden. Additionally, I ordered the mystic chai latte which I really loved and definitely recommend!
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
Food is amazing. A bit pricy but portions are generous and delicious. The staff we dealt with were very nice and service was quick. Caramel apple cider was delicious without being overly sweet. Lots of delicious smells and things to look at. The decor was fun.

Yelp
We're staying in Eden and passed by this adorable place for several days and could not wait to go try out for dinner. Went with our family and friends family and enjoyed our dinner so much. The service from the manager and Jorryn, our waiter, was top-notch! We enjoyed the pastrami, Panini, salad, burgers, milkshakes, and a bottle of wine. The pastrami was one of the best tasting, I've ever had. The buns, for the hamburgers were soft in the Panini bread tasted like a soft, but rustic, homemade bread. The fries and sweet potatoes fries were fresh and well seasoned. We sat outside and enjoy the gorgeous view of the Eden Valley, and surrounded by blooming flowers.

Yelp
We stopped here on a whim after a day of skiing & couldn't be more happy to have topped off a day on the slopes with some incredible sandwiches from Mad Moose. We tried the moose club (gluten free), French dip, tomato soup of the day, regular fries, and sweet potato. The minute we took a bite out of our meals we were all fully engrossed, no speaking, just chowing down. The gluten free bread was super moist & the roast beef was so flavorful on the club, the French dip sandwich got a 10/10 from our friend, and the tomato soup was so flavorful & came with the best side of artisan bread. Can't wait to come back here after our ski days in Eden & after a day of paddle boarding in the summer!
google avatar

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
Everything we ordered here is delicious! You should definitely try the crack sauce for French fries, sweet potato fries & onion rings (best). I love the southwest burger & turkey pesto panini, while hubby likes the French dip. They have Jackson Hole soda (huckleberry is delish) & Roosters brewing beer. It's also home of Rough Rider coffee, which we didn't try coz it's rather pricey. I highly recommend those going to NORDIC Valley to drive here for meals instead of their sad lodge

Breeana E.

Yelp
Always great! We love coming here-- it's so cute!!:) We loving grabbing milkshakes here and everyone is always so friendly.

Yelp
I absolutely love eating here. My family and I started boating on Pineview and we discovered this place and it is our GoTo after boating . Extremely good service, great ambience and the food is of great variety and a good quality.

Yelp
Food is great I love the coffee and the service is amazing so friendly and welcoming,

Yelp
What an adorable little place. Hubs and I split a Turkey and avocado panini and upgraded to the battered onion rings. Everything was delicious. The chef was really hustling back there and was keeping up so well! Our server was just a sweetheart and took great care of us. They have wonderful old school bottled sarsaparilla, root beer and orange cream drinks. I had to have an orange and it did not disappoint. If you're in the area and need a bite, you'll be pleased you stopped in !
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
French dip was awesome. The restaurant has a very cool vibe. We were seated fast but service was slow, although they informed us it would be.

Dean L.

Yelp
Just went for coffee. Verrrry slow service, fair coffee, and high prices. Come on. Charging for a second shot in a 16 oz latte??? Drive a a few feet further to The Drip. Amazing coffee and service about half the price.

Yelp
Driving through Eden, and deciding that we need to stop for a bite to eat, and the name catches my eye. So we pull in and ride as we enter the door. I asked the gentleman to sell me on the place. Is it worth staying and sitting down? He told me he thinks so that I'll be happy so we did, and the burgers and fries and the Panini's were amazing. The coffee, the Italian soda. And the fresh baked cookies to go along with your meal. It is a smaller place that is perfect for what it serves. I have never eaten here before and I go to Eden all the time I can definitely say that I will return many times and I can't thank the waitresses and management enough for making our dinner stop definitely memorable. Also to the manager, thanks again for showing us your personal photos of the moose on your property.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Love this little place. First rate food and service, even for a Saturday afternoon. (Packed!) Great outdoor seating, which is a must in Eden during the fall colors. Burgers and sandwiches are so good. My favorite is the turkey and cranberry panini. Make sure you get a Italian soda. The best!!
google avatar

Yelp
Chicken sandwich with ghost pepper cheese. Yowww hot hot hot. Choose wisely. Young women servers. On point friendly efficient fun. Owner visited Happy dude. Small space. Big performer. Go or not.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Very good! Enjoyed the ice cream and shakes. Not many options in the area but this was above my expectations.

Laurie E.

Yelp
This place has delicious food and the service is top notch. They also serve beer and liquor, thank you! We come here periodically and will return
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Love the Moose. Food is really great. Had the turkey, basil, sandwiche. Not really a herby, basil guy but this is maybe the best sandwich I ever had.
google avatar

Erin G.

Yelp
Friendly service, good food. Casual, good for families. Had a salad and a glass of Prosecco.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
You wouldn't believe it looking at it from the outside, but this place has some of the best tap water in Utah. It's worth the drive from Las Vegas or even a flight in from Raleigh, North Carolina. The water has the perfect amount of ice that last long enough to crunch on when you run out of water in your glass. I bet you were hoping for a review of the food. It's just as good as the water but let's be real. I judge a place on the water and let the food for the others to comment on.
google avatar

Rob W.

Yelp
I enjoyed it for the most part. We had a little confusion, but that's sort of on us. Didn't realize that soup or sweet potato fries cost extra as a side, so I thought I'd share that first for those who don't read a menu closely. We also had one of those minor mistakes where we asked for no sauce on a sando and unfortunately didn't realize it until we were about an hour away. Having said that, I liked what I had. The veggie sando was solid. Nice dressing and I liked it warm even though I got no cheese. I also got the clam chowder which is worth the extra buck or so that I just mentioned since it is both tasty and a healthy portion. Service was pretty solid and I liked the lagers that they had.

Heidi E.

Yelp
First time visiting the area and we decided to dine at the Mad Moose in June 2024. Our waiter, Dane was charming and did a great job. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, although the area could use some upkeep, particularly with the weeds. The wait time for our food was reasonable, but there were serious issues with our meal. For $17, we expected better than finding a red hair in the first serving of our burger and fries. After requesting a replacement, another hair--this time darker and resembling a dog hair--was in the new serving. This was unacceptable, and we couldn't finish our meal, so we left and definitely won't ever be back! The fact remains that we had two hairs in our food (super gross) and the only employee there with red hair was the cook. Take some accountability around your cooks sanitation.

Jake M.

Yelp
Best coffee in Utah. Great service and a great place to just hangout for an hour or so.
google avatar

Krista L.

Yelp
Such great service. Everyone was working hard to make sure the customers were happy. Our server (manager, Gavin), was very attentive and gave us free coffee samples. His food recommendations were great. I had a panini with ghost peppers. Super delish. And don't leave without getting a milkshake!!!
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
What a cool place! Great service! Emory greeted me with a smile, gave me some cool places on the area to check out, and just started my day out right. Erica was my server. Just as nice! I took her recommendation of the Turkey Cranberry Panini, and man, what a delight. I sat outside, enjoyed the gorgeous fall day while great music played at just the right volume to be peaceful and enjoyable. I will be back.
google avatar

Eduardo V.

Yelp
Great food! Employees here are very welcoming. Had the French dip sandwich with an iced coffee. Temp of the food was spot on and the lavender lemonade is a must try. If you are looking for a place to relax have lunch or even dinner don't hesitate to stop at The Mad Moose Cafe!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
So, let's get my complaint out of the way first, and then go on to the compliments: The coffee took a while to get there. It was good coffee, but we waited about ten minutes to get it. There. That's my complaint. The food itself was good, and there was plenty of it. I came it with a group of six and we all got breakfast. After the original delay in our java, refills came in good time. Proper country potatos, eggs cooked just right, good bacon. I'd love to come back and try their lunch service. So that's pretty much it: I wasn't blown away, but I want to come back.
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
Had a BLT, sweet potatoes fries, and coffee. Everything was delicious and the service was nice. The cafe is small, but decorated nicely and Rough Rider Coffee was perfect on a snowy/wintery day.
google avatar

Rikki H.

Yelp
This little place is pretty good. I really like their Philly cheesesteak. I didn't get that this time, I got the Cali burger. It was good but a tad bit dry. The raspberry Italian soda was good too. Kinda tasted like a raspberry creamy beer haha. My sister got the chicken gyro and she liked it! Our waiter was extremely nice and attentive. I didn't catch his name but he said he wasn't normally a server he was a cook. Very nice! I love that they put the deck out there. Last time I came it was grass and mud. All around great experience forsure!

Daniel Y.

Yelp
hello! me and my wife went to the cafe this past weekend! the food was delicious and unlike anything I've ever had before! our servers name was Sarah she was the sweetest girl and really turned up the mood! she made us the most delicious coffees and talked to us and talked about good places to go skiing! we even shared the same last name! the place gives a very home feel to it it almost feels as if I'm going to my grandparents house although the food feels professional! the cooks name was Logan he paid very good attention to detail on the plates! We also thought that the story behind the Mad moose was amazing I loved that there was a party that the boss started! Thank you Mad moose!

Troy B.

Yelp
Cute little place, pretty good food. The kitchen is tiny for the amount of tables they have, so if it's busy the food takes FOREVER. We waited almost an hour for a salad and a sandwich.
