Stayed in some bad hostels and some nice ones, this was by far my best hostel stay! The rooms are lovely, the bar and restaurant are lively and the staff are kind and helpful. When I booked I found the website a little confusing, so I sent an email just to confirm some details and the response was reassuring and lovely. Not sure why I didn't book through HostelWorld, I usually do. We arrived early and were allowed early check in, we were also given a free room upgrade, free breakfast added (you usually have to pay for this) and each of us were given a token for a free drink. We weren't able to make use of the breakfast as we left very early in the morning but we enjoyed our drinks! The rooms are spacious, comfortable and had huge lockable bag storage under the beds. We even had a little balcony after being upgraded to the 4 person room. The hostel is located very close to a metro stop and you can get into the city centre in just over 10 minutes, so it's an excellent place to be. Can't wait to come back and stay again! Loved Milano and loved Madama <3

They provided free flow of sparking water and Americano and breakfast for free as well! Amenities are good and they even provided sharing bottles of shampoo/body wash. Also, it’s actually a bar at night. The minus point is the location take 30mins by train to city area and walk to nearest train station take about 10mins. Overall it was a good stay!

if you are in the area pass by for a nice hip breakfast or brunch... the super cool vibe and friendly staff will make you feel ready to start the day :)

Separate room has an AC - pure luxury during the heat. One of the best hostels I ever visited.

Great place with the most delicious Italian food! Made our stay there!

Nice pub at the floor level of a hostel. Food is often so so, good for drinking

This is primarily and for the most part a bistrot and not much of a traditional hostel where you are with fellow travellers. First night there were so many outsiders that there was no table for the guest living in. No breakfast buffet. Made to order breakfast is meagre and not suitable for everyone. There is no elevator and you have to carry your luggage on the stairs. It is fine for Italian travelers I guess but overall a huge disappointment. The room was big and clean. But I would never come here again or recommend it to anyone.

I was waylaid by pouring rain in Milan on a cycling trip. I showed up at Madama hostel in low spirits looking like a drowned rat. I half expected them to turn me away. Instead the hostess (who I think was the owner) made some joke about offering me a glass of water but it looked like I had had enough! I was welcomed in and shown every courtesy. The staff was amazing, free coffee, strong wifi, rooms were clean. The other guests were very interesting and engaging. I left after two days when the weather cleared, my bike tuned up, and my spirits renewed! Thanks Madama Hostel staff :)

Yelp
Super close to Porta Romana station (the Trennord one, the Lodi Tibb metro...) and their Cafe is right at a street corner overlooking busy activity going on outside. The employees seem nice, and I stopped by for a cappuccino before work. It was only €1.30---insane!! The cafe is spacious, and I think because it is a hostel the seating encourages open table interactions. Of course it was only me and three others at 7am. I was content with my coffee and then heading to work right after.

Yelp
As a hostel this is a 5 all day with one major caveat which I'll get to later. I ideally like to walk everywhere but it wasn't possible for Milan as the hostels close to Central were more expensive then I was willing to pay. Madama Hostel splits the difference. It's a few minutes walk from the train station. The same train line that goes Duomo and the central train station. Milans trains are great. Fast, easy to understand, accurate train signalling and cheap(1.5 €). The hostel itself is large, clean, well equipped, and the most inclusive hostel I've stayed at yet. Breakfast, and dinner are free with your stay. Breakfast covered the basics but dinner had several small items that were tasty enough. I believe locals come here regularly just for the food and bar. Hotel guests get a discount on those as well. The rooms had one large locker, assigned to each guest with a hostel lock on it. The key they provide you. Otherwise under the beds is another large locker for supplementary storage. One bathroom per guest room with community bathrooms strewn about. The only downside with this hostel is noise. It is loud with club music that goes till late. They provide free ear plugs to compensate but if you are bothered by noise this place is not for you. Just passing through the bistrot to get to your room during the afternoon I found a boisterous crowded entrance area. I travelled in the off season and had an entire 6 person room to myself. I can only imagine how bad the noise and crowds could get during the prime season.

Yelp
It's not five star service but it's cute and homey. You can talk and relax to have a good time with friends. ALSO THE PESTO PASTA (10/28/2017) WAS AMAZING!!!!

Yelp
This is my second time at the Madama... The place is really nice, well designed, clean, very close to the metro and the city center. Bedrooms are very spacious and the bed is comfortable. There s a bathroom in each room. Breakfast and buffet dinner are included in the price. It's a nice place to meet people. Staff is always friendly..
