Madame Mao's Dowry is a cozy boutique in Shanghai’s French Concession blending vintage Mao-era art with quirky local designs, perfect for unique gifts.
"Hunting for made-in-China souvenirs more Etsy than kitschy? Madame Mao is the spot! Check out the alphabet tote bags from Pinyin Press, cloisonné snuff bottles by Piling Palang, vibrant wrapping paper by Paper Tiger, and quirky jewelry from the young Shanghai designer Shin. If you're into vintage finds more than handmade items, browse the extensive collection of Communist propaganda posters from the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. While the large framed images can be expensive, the postcards and photographs are affordable and can be tucked away in every suitcase."
Small shop with lots of nostalgic items to buy. The prices are really high. I did buy a great ipad cover with a great photo of an old bike (I am a sucker for those bikes on the streets of Shanghai) but it was 20 bucks. Pricey for China. But the person there was very nice.

We are open 7 days, 10am-7pm. Our telephone number on the listing is still correct. You can also find us at our official account on wechat: MadameMaosDowry.

GPS pin on the map is wrong, and Google Maps pin is wrong... you'll never find it that way. Just go down Fumin Road and manually look for 207, east side of the street.
Store was a little meh, not a great selection, nor kitschy at all. Just a little boutique. Not worth a special trip, as what's around it is pretty spare.
