The food is fantastic. Fresh quality beef and rich pho broth. The seafood spring roll has a unique web like crispy coating. I think they should be pretty fast normally but our order got delayed behind a bunch of online takeouts. It took me a long time to place order at the counter and I was alone.

We had a fantastic experience here! The prawn crackers were a standout—light, crispy, and full of flavor without being greasy. The Pho broth was excellent—delicate yet rich, striking a perfect balance. The portion of noodles was quite generous, maybe even a bit too much for us, but that’s just a personal preference. The pickled vegetables were fantastic, with just the right amount of acidity—not overly vinegary like some places. The blanched vegetables were fine but didn’t add much to the meal; it’s a tough side dish to make exciting. Beyond the great food, the prices were very reasonable given the portion sizes. The staff were absolutely fabulous—kind, friendly, and incredibly helpful. They were also very attentive, even checking in to ask for feedback when they noticed we had left some noodles behind. That level of care really stood out! Overall, an excellent meal with great value and outstanding service—we’ll definitely be back!

Very cute decor, very high ratings, so we thought we'd come try it. Unfortunately, the stew chicken was underwhelming and lacking in taste (tasted like home made food), and was served with white rice despite the menu photo showing purple rice (when asked, the reply was the photos are indicative only, which is disappointing for a restaurant of this calibre). The fried spring rolls were slightly oily, and couldn't really taste the flavour of the filling, so another fail. Service was reasonable. Was thinking of returning to try the various varieties of pho, but the underwhelming first visit put us off

Quality & Taste: This place serves truly authentic Vietnamese food! I especially loved their pho — it was flavorful, comforting, and tasted just like the ones I had in Vietnam. Service: The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Price & Value: The pho ranges from around $20 to $24, which I think is fair considering the portion size and quality of ingredients. Atmosphere & Ambiance: The restaurant has a fancy, modern vibe, though it was a little bit on the dark side for my taste. Still, it adds to the cozy, intimate feel.

Very nice decor. Staff were kind and friendly. I ordered the northern style chicken pho. The amount of chicken in the pho was very generous. But the Pho itself wasn’t as light as northern pho normally is and ladies work of the flavours. The vegetarian spring rolls were a little oily and seemed to lack some filling.

Craving for soup in rainy weather led to this place. The place is very nice and cosy , the interior is also pretty...gives the nice vibe. I tried tender chicken pho and it was really delicious - simple and soothing, and tasteful. There are good seatings inside and the staffs are also very nice.

Popped in for lunch and went with the Lemongrass Pork Sausage Rice Bowl from the lunch specials — super tasty! The Pork had a great flavor, and the fresh salad on the side made it feel really light and refreshing. There was a good kick from the chili mixed in, but if you’re not into spice, it’s easy to leave it aside. Got there right at 12pm and luckily grabbed a table for four — seating is pretty limited, so if you’re coming with a group, it’s a good idea to book ahead. If not, they do takeaway with a 10% discount, which is a nice bonus. Overall, really happy with the food and would definitely go back for another lunch!

Google
Friday night…no booking…and they squeezed us in at the last table! Pho is the go - brisket for her, tender chicken for me. Lovely broth with generous meat portions. The house beer at happy hour prices was the perfect accompaniment! Staff super friendly and a trippy tropical decor. Will go again.

Yelp
It's a pleasure to have found an above average Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney, consider how picky an LA Yelper can be. I have the compulsion to write this review for Madame Nhu, because it's one of the few Vietnamese restaurants I've visited that can get me to actually finish an entire bowl of Pho. I don't like noodles. Therefore I'm super picky. Most of the Pho noddle places in the States use cheap slammy rice noodles that quickly get soaked into the soup and create a bowl of glue. The noodles used at Madame Nhu is, on the other hand, chunky, elastic, and textured. They sit well in the flavorful soup and seduce for slurping. I had the #3 beef brisket pho and finished it in 20 minutes. I didn't realize how committed I was in consuming this simple bowl of joy until I was done. Madame Nhu appears to be a very hippie joint for both local crowds and visitors. Beer and wine are available. We didn't have an chance to taste any appetizers but the fried tofu dish and calamari on the next table looked delicious too. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Madame Nhu has this dark and mysterious vibe that I really enjoyed. I love all the funky and playful decoration. The staff here is really friendly and helpful. I just wish I enjoyed the food as much, especially at this price point! We ordered: Signature đc bit ph, grass-fed beef prepared three ways $17.5 Steamed Hi Nam chicken, chilli ginger soy sauce, ginger rice $18.5 We enjoyed the Pho a lot. But the Hai Nam Chicken was dried and tasted so bland. And for $20 , I really regret letting my sister ordering that... Maybe the worst Chicken Rice I ever had. I would stick with their Pho and just come by during lunch hours. Lunch menu is $3-$4 less for most of the items.

Yelp
I've been walking past this place so many times over the past year and it's not till a couple of days ago that I decided to try it. Normally the menu posted outside with the dinner prices deter me from going in at lunch. But this time, I just felt like pho so why not?! To my delight, they HAVE lunch specials! Pho variations ranging from $12-14, which is on my lunch budget range. I tried the spicy beef pho, which wasn't spicy at all in terms of heat, but really tasty because they introduce some tang into the broth and added both peanuts and fried shallot. Let's just say I went back the next day for lunch. Yums!

Yelp
So far it's the best Pho I've had, ever. At least that I can remember. All the ingredients were ultra fresh. This was also the case for our apprizers/entree and mains. I'll go back again and again. The place is simple but cute. Nice staff. Decent price for a traveling man. My brother and I were both very impressed.

Yelp
I had a long relaxed dinner here with a friend and we both loved the food. The mini banh mi were great as was the prawn and pork vermicelli salad. We had the spring rolls and chicken skewers to start as well and they were good. We were there for over 3 hours and not rushed out by the staff (however we did have to wait a while for service). We are there on an extremely hot day so the restaurant was a little uncomfortable but would be great on a more mild day.

Yelp
Refined Vietnamese with a decent wine list, I'm really enjoying Nhu, even if never thought a mushroom finger roll could be better than chicken, prawn or pork. It can. The Bún bò grilled beef vermicelli salad with chilli lime vinaigrette is current fave however. Cash only though, so don't rock up fanning cards unless you're prepared to run down to Harry's or across to the Hollywood.

Yelp
Legit little hipster spot in Surry Hills, a bit small so don't try to bring too many friends but a solid joint with authentic tasting food!

Yelp
Cute and small place, nice decor. Main and pho prices $16-$17, entrees around the $7-$10 mark. Cheap and delicious! Staff were heaps friendly even though they were closing in half an hour and the One Night in Tam Coc cocktail was fab. Sweet, yet strong and with a salted rim. Big bowls of pho too and the duck one was amazing! Tender melt in the mouth chicken in the mini banh mi too. Couldnt be happier with a walk in!

Yelp
Best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever tried outside Viet Nam. Wonderful pho and the grilled beef was amazing. Good choice of beers and very nice small place to eat. In my opinion a must try restaurant.

Yelp
Great food, but we had to eat and run because the restaurant literally smelled of sewage

Yelp
Only discovered this little gem recently. It's a tiny place with limited seating, but nice décor and ambiance. Their prices are not cheap and parking in the area is extremely difficult (and costs an arm and a leg) - but they're worth it! Best pho this side of Sydney for sure. There's a depth to their broth that is lacking in so many vietnamese places these days. I personally think the broth is a little too sweet, but that's just my personal preference. The deep flavour more than compensates. Have tried a few of their other dishes (spring rolls, spicy beef noodles, chicken rice), but their pho is the clear standout dish.

Yelp
Absolutely astonished at how rude and aggressive the staff are at Madame Nhu Surry Hills. I ate with a friend there and we both missed the notes on the menu stating that they won't split bills. It was not mentioned at all by the staff when we sat down and were given menus. When we came to pay and offered 2 cards we were subjected to rude and dismissive behaviour by the waiter and the manger. Both literally walked away from our table when we suggested things like cancelling the bill and setting up 2 bills. Neither seemed to have any sort of hospitality training whatsoever. At one point our discussion descended into a shouting match. Only eat at this restaurant if you are looking for average at best Vietnamese cuisine and incredibly rude service. In a city with great courteous asian dining, they won't last long. Thanks goodness!

Yelp
Madame Nuh is a nice set up corner bar with a modern flair. When we (a group of 4) arrived during the week at 8.30pm the place has a few tables occupied but was not too busy. So we tried or luck and entered to be seated. They placed us at the top part next to the bar. Unfortunately there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom and storage area that was quite irritating. A guy with brown glasses served us the menus without a word, a look or a friendly smile. After a little while we had to highlight at the bar that we were ready to order some drinks although staff was passing by frequently. When the drinks were served, the dude with the glasses took away the menus without even questioning if we wanted to order food. All together, the smell and bad service made us pay and leave the bar straight after and we're probably not back in the near future. A shame as the layout is quite appealing.

Yelp
Really disappointing. I was here a couple of months ago on a hot summer night and enjoyed good night with a group. Came back with a guest but had an altogether different experience. Service very lacklustre & not attentive, food average - no different from my local. They don't do split bills and they don't take savings card. Totally inflexible on this. Altogether. much better and more interesting dining experiences in the hood.
