"Madova Gloves The only glove shop in the city to produce its stock on site, Madova’s exquisitely-crafted ‘guanti’ are made in a factory just behind the shop. There is a huge range of colours and styles range from simple, un-lined styles, silk or cashmere-lined classics and men’s driving gloves to fabulously elaborate creations for serious dressing up."

11 Best Places for Shopping in Florence | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Donnini family has been making gloves by hand since 1919, and this store—which opened in 1954 next to its factory, just off the Ponte Vecchio—is still the only place where you can buy the accessories in person (you can also order online). A squeeze of a shop, it's entirely lined with shelves and drawers, all stacked with neatly packaged gloves in every shape, size, and color. But don't touch; an assistant will ask what you're looking for, measure your hand, and root around among the stock until they find the perfect pair. For men, there's a toasty pair lined with lambskin; for women, a fancy-pants pair of black leather gloves with a black- and fuchsia-striped ruffle is the must-buy." - Nicky Swallow

I’ve only been to Firenze twice in my life, but every time a friend visits the city, I ask them to stop by Madova and purchase me a couple of pairs of gloves. I will only buy leather gloves from Madova because the quality, the fit, and the beauty are just that amazing. These gloves are over five years old and still beautiful. Hope to have the chance to add more to my collection soon!

Google
Madova is a very small store quite close to the Ponte Vecchio that sells only leather gloves. It is the store for their give factory. You can smell the leather as you enter the store. They have a variety of styles of gloves that are lined with either silk or cashmere. The gloves are gorgeous and the colors are either natural to brilliant. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the gloves. Love my gloves and cannot wait until it's cold enough to wear them!

The staff will figure out your size just by looking at your hands! Quality of gloves is great — not super warm — but nice formal pair to own.

Google
Best gloves I've ever purchased. So much that I bought two! This boutique has every price point covered. The lady working at the store went out of her way to walk to the warehouse and find the exact glove I was interested in. Located the across the Ponte Vecchio in the Santo Spirito neighborhood.

Google
This place is the real deal. Old school no nonsense artisan craftsmanship. Well worth a visit vs all the other “authentic” shops. Every pair of gloves are lovely and the staff here know what’s going to work the second they see your hands!

Google
Had a lovely experience here yesterday. I love my handmade pair of shoes I got in Madrid so wanted another handmade item to remember my adventures in Italy. These gloves are perfect! The quality is incredible and price is very affordable considering the cashmere lining and craftsmanship of the leather. At the time, the pair I bought were 53euro for a men's pair and I am sure they will last a long time. It was worth the price for the experience, it was amazing how they can tell your size just by looking at your hands. They spoke perfect English and were very patient in answering my questions and letting me try on different models.

Google
Great place to get leather gloves of many colors and styles. For men and women. Expert at the table who can tell you your size just at a glance. Great quality. Got two pairs of gloves. I'm very happy with my purchase

Google
Amazing customer service experienced at this store. You’ll receive a perfect fitting pair of quality gloves at a very reasonable price. Many colours and styles to choose from. Highly recommended 10/10.

Yelp
If you need leather gloves, you have to get it from Madova in Florence. That's all they sell, leather gloves in a gazillion colors. The store owner took one look at your hand and she knows your exact size. Tell her the color you are looking for and she put it on for you. There are like 5 shades of black and brown. You will find the perfect fitting leather gloves in the exact shades lined with cashmere in this store for like $55 euro. The two ladies in the store is super nice and sweet too!

Yelp
Every time I'm in Florence, Italy, I purchase a pair of gloves. I could but more than one pair, but I limit myself to one, so that I have something to look forward to. Madova Gloves is my latest discovery, and I'm wondering why it's taking so long to find this place. First off, the store is incredibly small, but it's absolutely packed with a variety of different gloves, sizes, colors, and so much more. The women that run the store aren't overly friendly, but they are very knowledgeable about most of their products. Their window display is pretty amazing. Their gloves are all handmade and stitched, and I would highly recommend that once you find a pair that you like, that you, Tryon, another pair of the same style, because the fit may be slightly different. You pay for what you get, and while I find most of their gloves to be reasonably priced for the quality, and the fact that they are handmade, you can't go wrong. My purchase this trip is a gorgeous pair of hot pink gloves that I'm excited to wear during the colder months at home. Great store with amazing gloves!

Yelp
Glove heaven ! We were so lucky - when we arrived there was no one else in the store. The woman who works there was amazing! She assessed my size and presented me with probably 100 options. She was able to articulate the differences with what was hand stitched, what was machine stitched, different linings etc. Thru an elimination process I somehow got down to 3 pairs, 2 for me and one for a gift. The gloves and leather are beautiful - so many colors! The pricing was good, much less then equal quality in the USA. It was a great experience that I highly recommend.

Yelp
I'd spotted a pair of gloves on the The Ponte Vecchio amidst all the gold and jewelry that I had really liked. They were were a beautiful pale pink neutral color (79 euro) with stitching but I really wanted to visit Madova so I didn't purchase them. I found a very similar pair here in a different neutral shade and lined with cashmere instead of silk. I'll admit I don't often have a use for gloves living in Los Angeles, only some mornings are ever cold enough to require a cashmere lined glove but I do own a few pairs of gloves. I wasn't in need of anything leather so I felt a nice pair a gloves would be a perfect little gift to bring home from Firenze. It was my first time ever actually being properly fitted for a glove, which I liked. My pair here was a bit less (63 euro) than what the place on the bridge wanted and although those seemed nice I was really going on reputation and felt Madova was the place to purchase a glove even if the color was a little different than what I'd liked at the other place. My son says he likes this color better so that makes me happy. We walked in and were helped immediately and within a few minutes the store was full with a wait, and people asking when's a good time to come. It can change moment to moment. I'd say if there's a wait, stay or return at some other time to check. I didn't take long at all because I knew the exact style and color I had in mind but I suppose others can take longer. Great service!

Yelp
I bought a pair of driving gloves from the Madova shop across the Ponte Vecchio in July 2023. Other than the silly romantic notion of buying leather goods in Firenze I would not buy another Madova product. I have had to ask my wife to repair the poorly stitched seams on 4 separate occasions. I don't wear them frequently (I interchange them with 3 other pairs of driving gloves). So, they have not been excessively used or abused. Review their statements on their website but the truth is, compared to the other 3 pairs I own (Cafe Leather, Dents and Fort Belvedere), the Madova gloves are not up to their quality.

Yelp
Beautiful gloves at a reasonable price. Individual service. Plenty of colors. Good styles. Classic handmade gloves and fine leather.

Yelp
Beautiful gloves and great selection. I always make sure to go to Madova Gloves whenever I'm in Florence.

Yelp
This leather glove manufacturer is an institution in Florence. Near Ponte Vecchio, across the Arno, this tiny storefront houses dozens and dozens of leather gloves in a stunning array of styles, different linings, and colors. They do a nice job fitting you for perfect comfort. You can't go wrong here when shopping for a luxury leather item in Florence. The prices are terrific. I am told they manufacture gloves and ship them to big retailers all over the world. I am pretty sure you can purchase these gloves for roughly half of what you'd pay in a retail store. Overall, a lovely shopping experience in Firenze!

Yelp
I live in the cold American Midwest and am a delicate flower - so I knew that picking up quality gloves was in my "to do in Florence" list. I had done some reading up and the general consensus was that this place offered authentic craftsmanship, decent prices and lots of choice. I chose plain black leather lined with wool but cashmere lined models are available. If you don't know exactly what you want, check the exterior window displays first as all items are behind the counter. The staff will make sure you are sized correctly and that your purchase "fits like a glove" so to speak. It's a good place to pick up gifts, if you know the person's size. My gloves were €49, which is less than I'd pay at somewhere like Bloomingdales.

Yelp
This small shop is close to Ponte Vecchio so it is easy to find. I found out this brand when I was searching for high quality Italian leather product before my trip. With such positive reviews by its customers, I persuaded myself to walk in and then I walked out with two pairs! The salesperson was very professional and friendly. She ensured that I pick up the good size for my hands, and displayed couple of gloves of my desired colors and styles to choose from. Living in east coast with tough winter, I realize it is worth it investing in a high quality and warm pair of gloves. I am not disappointed and the pairs I bought are so beautiful and practical for a winter with genuine lamb skin and cashmere lining. Two pairs together are USD $132. You could not get this quality with price anywhere else in US. Noted that they do not provide VAT refund of the product.

Yelp
Stopped here for gloves after seeing it on the "girl in Florence" blog. Handmade soft leather gloves lined in cashmere for 48 euros! They fit you for the gloves perfectly. Then you see the styles and colors in your size. I picked a beautiful wine colored pair.

Yelp
I would come back here and stock up on multiple pairs of gloves in a heartbeat. In my opinion this is the only store worth buying gloves from in the area - you can tell immediately from the texture of the leather and the quality of the lining that these are made to last (and at a very reasonable price point). My only regret is that we controlled ourselves and only got one pair per person! So many beautiful leather colors with soft liners. The older woman at the counter (for all i know, the owner) true to form did ask me to hold up my hands, quickly scanned them, picked one up, and then correctly predicted my size within what felt like 60 seconds. After much debate I picked a gorgeous cobalt blue leather glove that has lasted far better over 2 years than any other leather gloves (even designer ones) that I've owned. T also got leather men's gloves that have aged beautifully. If you can, come with cash as they will give you a tiny bit of a discount.

Yelp
My daughter and I purchased several pair of gloves and were so excited to give them as gifts. They are beautiful and made with quality. The cashmere lined pair was what I kept for myself and they are nice and warm for our midwest winters!

Yelp
Put your hand on the counter and get sized for some artisanal, cashmere- lined leather gloves. Molto Bene.

Yelp
Gloves, gloves, everywhere gloves. Italy is known for leather goods and Madova is known for leather gloves. We found a location in Florence thanks to my brother. To this day, he and his wife still order gloves from Madova. I bought a nice pair of leather gloves with wool liners for my time during apres ski at Mammoth Mountain, California and wherever else I go skiing. Can't wait to use them in December.

Yelp
The saleswoman was very helpful with sizes & selection. I got a few pairs for myself & to give as gifts in a variety of colors.

Yelp
THE place to buy gloves in Florence. I got a pair of leather, cashmere lined gloves for 50 euro! I have very small hands so just finding gloves that fit is a miracle for me. These make great presents, but just make sure you know their glove size. They have a variety of colors, sizes and many with various details. The staff are very good as well.

Yelp
Great experience - bought two pairs of men's leather, cashmere lined gloves of excellent quality here - good service. It's a smaller shop than I thought it would be. But I love what I bought here. Reasonably priced. I paid about 60 Euro for each pair (in December 2014), which is around the same price you would pay at Macy's or Bloomingdale's for a quality pair of men's leather gloves. NOTE: They are not there to make friends - they find you what you want, you buy it, and away you go - it's a small shop, so the faster they get you out, the more room they have in the shop for someone else - so you can't blame them for being slightly abrupt in their dealings with customers.

Yelp
My first visit to the beloved Madova was during a family vacation in 2002. Friends in retail in the US swore by the quality of Madova gloves and I was curious as to why/how they could be so great. That was then, this is 2015, and I still wear all 6 pairs of gloves my parents bought me as a kid in 2002! The store is the most unusual. A bit jet-lagged, we literally ran to the store immediately after checking into our hotel. Madova has to be the smallest shop I've ever been in, yet it is etched in my heart as one of the most positively memorable. From floor to ceiling was a sea of leather gloves, as smooth as butter and as colorful as a rainbow, along with earth-tones and black. Staff used a ladder to get to those gloves that were up high. Styles were offered in unlined, silk, cashmere, and rabbit fur lined. One style I love has each finger with a different color - gorgeous! Spring 2002 was also the unveiling of the euro, which still had gloves around $35 - $40 each, which was a lot cheaper than lesser quality in the States. I went back this Spring, and they were just as amazing and about 50 euros or $52. I haven't yet ordered any gloves online, but I'm told the experience is very positive!

Yelp
Many years ago before online shopping was invented I ordered via post handmade leather gloves from Madova. One had to trace one's hands on paper and post it back to them. The best and ironic thing about purchasing these gloves was that it was actually cheaper than buying the stuff they sell here in the US. And much of the gloves were, even at that time, being produced in China. Poor quality for high price. Up to this day I still wear the Madova gloves; the quality is excellent.

Gail J.

Yelp
Not only are the gloves gorgeous, but they made it such fun to pick out a pair for me (black, with silk lining and bright green cuffs!) and my son (dark brown, cashmere lined). I could easily pay as much or more for a boring pair of gloves made in China and sold at Nordstrom back home so, even though these scrumptious gloves feel like a splurge, they really aren't.

Asher J.

Yelp
There are two things that one has to seriously search out to find in Florence: A bad meal, and bad leather. However, in a city known for leather goods (and other artisianal goods), Madova stands out as perhaps the best glove store in town: Selection, craftsmanship, and customer service. And, their gloves seem to last forever.

Mari H.

Yelp
This is THE stop for handmade kidskin gloves of exquisite quality. The womens gloves are of infinite color selection and several different lengths and styles, lined with silk, cashmere , or unlined. Same for the mens. The staff are experts, and can tell by looking at your hand what size you take even before you put your elbow on the velvet pillow to try them on. I got several pairs for easy-pack gifts, in the most delicious colors. My husband got summer and winter styles of driving gloves. We were very pleased. A note of caution: if you spend over 150 Euros, ask for the TAX REFUND FORM upon purchase, or you won't get your 22% tax refund back at the airport. They didn't give us one and we learned that just presenting the receipt doesn't suffice.
