Yelp
My wife visited this place today, looking for a cameo necklace. They are kept in a cabinet which needs to be unlocked by an employee. When she remarked that they were more expensive than she expected (starting at $75), the man working there (the owner?) said that "If she couldn't afford $75 then she needed to leave because he had a lot of paperwork to do."
Hours later, my wife returned home still emotional about how rude this man had been to her. Naturally, I was not happy to hear about this, so when I Googled the store to find a phone number, their Yelp page was the first thing to pop up. It was no surprise to see that two other people had also had very unpleasant experiences there. I called, and the man who answered the phone was the same person she had dealt with before. He did not deny the incident, was unpleasant to me (surprise!), and told me that he didn't care if I told others about the incident - that he had "plenty of other customers." So here I am, cautioning all who care to read this that you should take your business elsewhere. Certainly, neither of us will ever step foot in there again. People with attitudes like his have no business dealing with the public.
I'm pretty sure the man she (and I) dealt with is the owner. If he's not, then the owner needs to be aware that this person is ruining their business.
The story does have somewhat of a happy ending: my wife did find a necklace at Swag Antiques (4332 Tujunga Ave., Studio City 818-508-9400), finding the lady that helped her to be very pleasant and helpful. Yes, the necklace was more than $75, but being treated with courtesy and respect is priceless.
