Our stay at Madulkelle tea lodge was so special, memorable and unique. It really is in the middle of nowhere with absolutely stunning scenary like I have never seen before. Unfortunately, there were some road closures enroute to this property at the time of our stay and the roads leading to it are very bumpy, steep and narrow, which seemed to make the journey feel like it was taking forever to get there, and on the drive I doubted whether it was going to be worth the effort to get there. I had read about the difficult road to the property but thought this meant a difficult driveway rather than 18 kms!! It really was worth the journey though! The scenary is just amazing! The property and our suite felt full of character and history. We were greeted by Nandun's warm smile and a cup of tea from their tea estate and homemade biscuits. We stayed with our two little girls in the honeymoon suite and it was so unique and quirky. Lots of cheeky monkeys around the grounds and you need to make sure you lock up your tent well as we heard they can break in!! Dinner was superb especially the beef massaman which I keep thinking about!!) ||One thing we were also grateful for from this property is how they treated our lovely driver and he was akso greeted with tea and biscuits which he very much deserved after the long arduous drive. ||Thank you for a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend a stay here!

We stayed at Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge as a family in March, drawn by its reputation and breathtaking location—and the views truly lived up to the promise. Nestled in the middle of a lush tea estate, the lodge offers a spectacular view of the Knuckles Mountain Range, especially from the poolside, which was absolutely mesmerizing. The setting is peaceful and unique, ideal for those wanting to disconnect and enjoy nature. The environment felt almost untouched, like a hidden retreat—though at times, it also gave the impression of being a bit abandoned due to the lack of proper maintenance in some areas. The tented huts, while conceptually charming, were poorly maintained during our visit. Cleanliness and upkeep definitely need more attention to match the expectations set by the location and price. The road leading to the property was in very poor condition, making the journey quite uncomfortable. If you plan to visit, be prepared for a rough drive up. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and genuinely tried their best to accommodate us despite the shortcomings. A special appreciation goes to the two lovely ladies at the reception desk for their warm welcome and professionalism—they added a much-needed touch of hospitality to our stay. The food was average, not quite on par with the rest of the experience, but decent enough for a short stay. In summary, Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge has enormous potential thanks to its natural beauty and serene setting. With improved maintenance and better access, it could easily become a top-tier getaway. For now, it’s a place we’d recommend with some caution—ideal for nature lovers, but not for those expecting luxury-level polish.

Fabulous experience overall. We travelled from the south and it was a long arduous journey particularly the Kandy to Madulkelle stretch. Bit of advice stop in Kandy overnight and book your transport from the lodge reception. Their drivers know the mountain road really well and it makes for a much better journey. Pushed the boat out and stayed in the Penthouse it was lovely and wish we had stayed two night versus one.

An Unforgettable Stay at Madulkelle Eco Lodge 🌿 We recently visited for the second time to Madulkelle Eco Lodge on a trip with several families, friends of my mum’s batch mates, and it was truly one of the most memorable getaways we’ve had. A very special thanks to Mr. Tissa, the General Manager, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. From offering us the best rooms to extending such genuine care and attention, his kindness and dedication truly stood out. He made every effort to make us feel comfortable and welcomed, and we’re deeply grateful for that. The rooms were incredibly spacious, and the tent experience was something unique and magical, blending comfort with nature beautifully. The interior design and the surrounding scenery were breathtaking, nestled perfectly amidst the tea plantations. The food was absolutely delicious, and a heartfelt thanks to the chef who quickly and beautifully arranged a surprise anniversary cake for our beloved aunty and uncle. It meant so much to all of us, and the whole team pulled it off wonderfully in such a short time. Every single staff member was priceless. Warm smiles, kind gestures, and a genuine desire to make our stay special. From the moment we arrived, we felt taken care of in every way. Though the road leading to the property is a bit narrow, once you're there, the location is stunning and peaceful, offering the perfect retreat in nature. Overall, everything was spot on, if not better than we imagined. Thank you to the entire team at Madulkelle Eco Lodge for making this trip so meaningful. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

This was truly a gem in the central hills. Location was amazing, facilities were up to the standards and staff was super friendly. Nadun created an very pleasant impression from the reservation till the end and he was extremely friendly and helpful throughout. Overall we had a great stay here and if not for rainy weather we would have enjoyed more. Recommend this place for those who love to merge with nature and like to enjoy the serenity of hill country of Sri Lanka.

The road up to the lodge is narrow and difficult but once you get there the views over the Knuckles range is stunning. The tents themselves are reasonably well equipped but a bit small and can be dark. They also don't have WiFi. However the main lodge does have good quality internet.|The cooking is very good and adapts to special needs if asked and the service is really good and helpful. We attended the tea tasting which was fascinating.|Overall it was well worth visiting

Our stay at this tea lodge was truly unforgettable—a perfect mix of adventure and luxury in the heart of nature. One of the highlights was exploring the lodge with a staff member, discovering a small farm where animals live for joy and a garden growing fresh herbs and vegetables for their kitchen. Spending the night in a luxury tent was a magical experience, perfect for those who love nature without sacrificing comfort. The staff was incredibly welcoming, making us feel at home. Getting there took time—whether by smaller car or helicopter—but the journey, with its breathtaking views, was part of the magic. The reception area, decorated with artistic elements and special books, felt like an invitation to slow down and soak in the atmosphere. This place felt like a true paradise that encourages to explore and appreciate its each corner with time and love. Highly recommend this place!
