Parking could be a bit tricky but certainly doable. We went during one of the local festivals and the place was hopping. Lots of food stalls and a stage was set up for the entertainment with music and dancing and other variety shows. That said, if you visit the park while there are not activities you still get a few vendors and will like have the place all to your self as we did. A few other guest but that was it. Just don’t go in the middle of the day or you’ll fry under the hot Sun ☀️

Amazing history and great views, very little shade but the volunteer guide made our day . He took pictures and told the story as it should be . If it's your first time in Cebu you must go!

“On my first day in Cebu, Philippines, I visited Magellan’s Marker and was amazed by its historical significance. The monument is well-maintained and offers a great glimpse into the history of Mactan. I even met an amazing local who shared interesting stories about the site. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history and culture!”

I like it here.. it looks so open now like a modern park 😜 Nice to relax at night near the beach, at the garden, and just feeling the breeze. The Mactan New Town View also looks perfect! Good job Mayor A.

The Magellan Marker in Mactan, located in the Philippines, is a significant historical site that commemorates the landing of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. This marker is not only a tribute to a crucial moment in the history of global exploration but also a symbol of the complex cultural interactions between the Philippines and Europe. Visiting the Magellan Marker is like stepping into a page of history. The site is well-maintained and offers a serene environment for reflection. The marker itself, a large obelisk, is a striking structure, surrounded by well-manicured gardens that add to the solemnity of the place. Informational plaques provide valuable context, making the visit educational as well as commemorative. However, the site's significance goes beyond Magellan's landing. It's also near the location of the Battle of Mactan, where local chieftain Lapu-Lapu famously resisted Spanish colonization. This juxtaposition of themes—exploration and resistance—makes the Magellan Marker a thought-provoking destination. For history enthusiasts and casual tourists alike, the Magellan Marker in Mactan offers a poignant reminder of the Philippines' rich and diverse history. It's a place where one can ponder the far-reaching impacts of historical events and the enduring spirit of resilience and independence evident in Filipino history.

I can now say I stood at the spot their hero Magellan who was killed by the other hero Lapu-Lapu. Magellan was forcing oppression and is now revered for forcing Christianity. Also there is some doll involved in all this. The doll makes for hella street festivals.
