Maggie's Kitchen serves up some seriously good comfort food, and if you're in the mood for a fantastic burger or a top-notch patty melt, this is definitely a spot to check out. Both the burger and the patty melt I ordered were absolutely delicious – cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The quick turnaround time was also a major plus, getting our food to us in a flash. However, the experience was significantly impacted by the staff (from the lady at the counter with pretty braids to the kid whose job is to kick guests out as soon as they have their last bite). While efficient, they came across as incredibly jaded and tired, to the point of being borderline rude. It felt like every interaction was an imposition, which unfortunately detracted from the otherwise excellent food. If you can overlook a less-than-enthusiastic front-of-house, Maggie's Kitchen is worth a visit for the quality of their burgers alone. Just be prepared for service that's a bit "I’m so done with three tourists."

Google
The burgers are AMAZING. The staff are AMAZING. The service was quick. They have a condiment/topping bar with pickles, onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard , mayo, salt and pepper so you can put whatever you want into your burger. I got the mushroom burger and it was soooo good. Their fries are also done perfectly. Highly recommend this place and the prices are not bad at all

Google
I love Meggie’s — the best burger I’ve ever had! I usually prefer beef, but their chicken burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese was amazing. The staff and the owner are really nice. Eating burgers with that view is so cool — it’s a must-have after hiking! P.S. Thank you Kris, Kris, Tom, and the guy with the beard!

Google
Stopped here for lunch after looking at reviews for area restaurants. It did not disappoint! We were fortunate to get a seat outside on the patio so that we could enjoy the mountain view while we ate. I had the Hawaiian cheeseburger with coleslaw, and my wife had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. We also shared an order of onion rings. All the food was delicious, and we stuffed ourselves until we complained about over-eating.

Google
We visited on a busy Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the mushroom burger, along with fries, coleslaw, and onion rings. The food was undeniably flavorful, really delicious, but it left us feeling a bit off afterwards. Likely due to how heavy and greasy everything was, especially the very meat-heavy burgers. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was a big downside. The space felt dark, cluttered, and unclean, with writing all over the walls and an overall dingy vibe. The bathrooms, in particular, were among the worst I’ve seen with black paint dripping down the walls, sink, and even inside the toilet. I understand that it might be part of the intended aesthetic, but it didn’t feel appropriate or sanitary for a place serving food. Portion sizes were very generous, in fact, I couldn’t finish my burger, but again, the flavor really delivered. Still, the overall environment left a bad impression, and I’m not sure I’d return.

Google
Fantastic burgers! Don’t let the appearance of the place fool you! We were skeptical due to the way it looked. Graffiti/scribbling/writing, everywhere inside, but man were we pleasantly surprised. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and the cashier asked me if I knew what my wife wanted. I said we were gonna split the burger. To my surprise, they actually split it! Meaning, the burger was cut in half and served in two separate baskets with fries. The burger and fries were delicious. Back to the appearance. The place just looked strange but when peaking into the kitchen, it was cleaner than any fast food restaurant I have seen/worked in. Same goes for the restrooms. Again, we were pleasantly surprised and thankful for the cleanliness, quality and flavor of the food. Bravo to Maggie’s Kitchen!

Google
I have been going to Maggie’s once a year for the last 5 years and it’s a tradition to eat at Maggie’s I love the food the staff and the atmosphere I will keep going every year. Best burger in town hands down I signed the walls every time we go look for the Tullios signature keep it up guys I can’t wait for next year to get the 420 burger 🤤

Google
Good & reasonably priced compared to other places in town. Chicken bacon club was good & they were generous with the fries. I was very disappointed in the ranch dressing - watery & tasted burnt?

Madison K.

Yelp
Small town "dive", burgers are delicious and don't skip the onion rings! The restaurant has graffiti from decades of customers and is a great atmosphere for all ages! You go to the front to order and toppings are on a bar behind you, super easy self-service food!

Monique C.

Yelp
This was the best hamburger I've ever had in my entire life. Good size, quality meat, cooked to perfection. I'm dreaming about going back to Ouray just for this! Service is pretty simple, you go to the counter and place your order and wait for them to call your name. Then you head to a table of your choice and enjoy. Ambience - It looks like a dive inside with lots of writing all over the walls, seems to be a trendy thing to do for anyone visiting. Don't let that deter you this place is the best.

Laura H.

Yelp
We stopped on our way through. A cute town with good parking on side streets if you can't find it on the street. There is a good variety of sandwiches and hamburgers. Onion rings are on point. Plenty of seating. Whether you want to sit inside or outside. We sat outside so we can ppl watch too. Inside they have the fixings bar in front of the window.

Viranuj S.

Yelp
Good burger, fun atmosphere, friendly staffs. The price is decent, affordable for a tourist town.

Emily S.

Yelp
Staff was super friendly and we received our food quickly. Food was yummy and greasy (in a good way)! Interior has a lot of personality and exterior includes covered patio seating. For the price, it's hard to beat!

Michael A.

Yelp
This is a must-stop if you're staying or driving by. Located right off Main Street, grab the first parking space since lunch time is prime tourist time. This place looks small but there is seating outside and upstairs which has covered picnic table area. The burgers are truly unbelievable and cooked to your preference right on the spot. The wait time from when you order and when it comes out of the kitchen is 5-6 minutes so grab a seat and wait for your name to be screamed....they really do scream your name. The condiments are located near the front door so you can make it to your liking. I'll bring some sharpies the next time so I can leave my mark on the wall.

Debra L.

Yelp
Maggie's has the best breakfasts and burgers. The pancakes are amazing and a meal in themselves! Sweet potato fries are so so crisp and delicious! And always overly generous portions of their meals. I always have leftovers to take home. The staff is very friendly too! 5 stars . I wished they were open past 2pm.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Fun place to grab a delicious burger or sandwich. My husband got the cheeseburger and loved it! I had the turkey bacon and guac sandwich and it was phenomenal. Great portion sizes. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a satisfying meal in Ouray.

Alice Z.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch, it was definitely very popular (which is a good sign) but table turnover is pretty quick on the covered outdoor patio, we were able to bring our dog which was awesome. Tried onion rings and the Wang burger- everything was great!

J.B. S.

Yelp
Sign on the door says closed on Monday, Tues. and Weds. Today is Weds. They are closed.

Kate N.

Yelp
Excellent burgers! Fries were over the top. We left stuffed and were super impressed at how quickly our food was served. Highly recommend! And our tween thought the sharpies on the tables encouraging people to write and draw all over was the greatest boredom buster!

Krissy H.

Yelp
It was a good burger and fries were good and fresh. It's a burger shop type of place with all over the walls, nothing nice , very small inside but there is some outdoor seating. Order at the counter super fast getting the food out burgers are hand pressed

J P.

Yelp
The food was decent. My chicken sandwich was pretty good. The fries aren't my style. I don't like soft undercooked fries. Soda machine was good. All the fixings at the back table were good and well stocked. Decent selection on the menu board. The ambiance was very cool and unique and I liked it. Most of the employees were nice. So why only 3 stars... Besides the fries not being good there was one employee at the register who was extremely rude to me and everyone in my group. She had a bad attitude and was very snappy towards us and our questions. We all made sure that we didn't come back here during our big overlanding trip here in Colorado. So if you see a younger girl at the front register staring at her phone with a bad attitude you might want to go somewhere else...

Paul C.

Yelp
Low-key local restaurant where you can get some fried foods for a good price. Not super clean, so I wouldn't bring grandma, but I think the kids might like it. Especially the part where you can color on the tables and walls with pens and crayons!

Shawn H.

Yelp
Burgers: 3.5 stars - they are good. Probably as good as you will find in the area. Fries: 5 stars - really good fries! Onion Rings: 5 stars - excellent onion rings. Fried Chicken Sandwich: 0 stars... The cheapest food service pre-breaded chicken patty they could buy. Bacon: 0 stars - burned to a crispb and cold. More like big bacon bits. Stick with burger, fries, and onion rings and you will likely leave satisfied. Do not order anything outside of their "box".

Margaret W.

Yelp
It's a riot to write your name right on the wall as you sit right down for righteous hamburger.

Kathy W.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! We had Black Bean Burgers that were some of the best we've ever had!! Recommended to us by a local.....they knew what they were talking about!!

Anthony K.

Yelp
The burgers were fantastic!!! Ambiance was busy but interesting with writing all over everything!! Owner shared bottles of root beer to try, very friendly.

Christina M.

Yelp
I had the black bean burger with fries. Phenomenal! Great service as well! We sat on the front porch. Beautiful views.

Cindy H.

Yelp
This isn't fine dining, but it is good food. You line up at the window, order your burger or sandwich and it is ready very fast. I had the mushroom cheese burger and it was delicious. It comes with fries or coleslaw, I had fries, also delicious. They sell beer next door, so you can have a beer with your burger.

Marshall G.

Yelp
We hadn't eaten all day. The bnb breakfast was all gone by the time we looked. So just a simple hotdog and fries. We ll get a beer next door. It was excellent. Split down the middle and grilled. The fries were just right. Def a place to stop. We ate on the porch in the shade. Cool Nice crowd. Lots of locals.

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Visiting Ouray we were stoked to find Maggie's Kitchen! Great prices and delicious food. Service fast (walk up to order) and friendly service. Burgers looked wonderful but we opted for the special--chicken fried steak covered with gravy with french fries. Delicious! Fries looked fresh cut fries! Also had a catfish po-boy! Huge breaded catfish that was seasoned just right and coleslaw that was tasty. We sat in on the patio facing the street--so fun and enhanced their ambiance!

Melanie M.

Yelp
Exceptional Cheeseburger! Highly recommend this establishment! We placed an order to go over the phone and it was ready within minutes. Great service and a delicious meal!

Mickey M.

Yelp
Maybe the best burger I've ever had. Hand cut fries, scratch made burgers and the burgers are cooked to order. Didn't get the onions rings but wow they looked amazing. Best of all - reasonably priced - easy / easy visit

Gina D.

Yelp
I knew it would be great with the line out the door. Had cheese burger e with the onion rings. Rings were the gigantic ones in tempura. Wow. Friends ate the turkey avocado, they said it was so so good. Wish this little place was in my town. This is a must eat!

Forster F.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Ouray. I'd say the best hamburger in town. Onion rings are also excellent.

Greg S.

Yelp
Hands down, Maggie's Kitchen served the best burger I've had in the State of Colorado. And their onion rings are TO DIE FOR. Just passing through Ouray with a couple of guys on a hike, and we stopped here for a post-Mt. Sneffles refuel. Prices are reasonable, the tiny amount of chaos at the counter was fun, and the food was amazing. Plus, they have a patio to dine on, and spending any time in Ouray at all is a blessing. I look forward to coming back some day!

Cyllia G.

Yelp
The food was so delicious! Great flavor and the fries were amazing! The condiment bar was a nice option. Service was pretty quick given how packed it was.

Rob P.

Yelp
So yummy! But hay where are the straws... Good fries great cheeseburgers. A definite east place to stop and eat. Kid friendly!!!!

Matt S.

Yelp
This place serves some of the best burgers that I have had. The kind of burgers that are moist and gooey, full of cheese and toppings that have french fry hitchhikers every time you pick it up to take a bite burger. Home made french fries and coleslaw which are both excellent as well. Did order a couple hot dogs for the kids which were to big for either of them to finish. Somewhat a hole in wall location on Main St. which would be easy to miss.

Marcy B.

Yelp
My bf had to sit outside while I ordered because he was disgusted from our previous experience eating here and I insisted we try again. While standing in line, one of the girls in the kitchen grabbed the other girls hair with tongs used for cooking. I am not longer going to be eating here either. The onion rings were also completely drenched in oil. Unfortunately did not have the best experience

Ben M.

Yelp
This place is awesome. We are a family of four from NJ that travelled to the Ouray area for the first time and just stumbled across this spot. The decor is a bit questionable but the food was amazing and the folks working there were super friendly. We all had burgers that were really, really good. The quality of the meat was just way above what we would have expected and the taste was amazing. I had the Serrano burger and am still thinking about it a week later. Highly, highly recommend having a meal here. Definitely worth it.

Alan S.

Yelp
Food is great. I had the green chili burger. So messy and so good. My wife had Steve's patty melt She always has it. Cooked to perfection. Staff was so friendly. It's our place to go when we visit Ouray. Forget the negative reviews that you may see. Talk to the staff and enjoy the food. Only reason for 4 stars is they aren't open every day. Check their sign for hours

Mark W.

Yelp
This restaurant is not open. There is a sign outside that says closed. Yelp needs to change what it says. Was looking forward but guess sill never know.

Roger S.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. I had the mushroom Swiss burger (med rare) and honestly haven't had better in a VERY long time.

Jason R.

Yelp
Delicious burgers, interesting vibe, and friendly Ouray style presentation. Write on the ceiling or walls as a memento?

Mount R.

Yelp
If you struggle to get enough grease in your diet, this place is for you. Service is fast too.

Monika S.

Yelp
Visited again in June 2021. The food is still wonderful. Maggie's is operating under reduced hours. They post current hours of 11-4, but we were there at 3:30 and were one of the last customers before they closed because they were out of food. I was able to get a Mushroom Swiss burger with slaw and my husband was able to get a Steve's Patty Melt with slaw. Both were perfect!

George E.

Yelp
Maggie's Kitchen appears to be a staple in Ouray, Colorado. It is a burger and fries haunt. They are not fancy but really know how to make a great and flavorful burger. We have stopped here multiple times and have never been disappointed with the burgers. The line was long but moved well. The menu is chalked on the wall and they have dogs, chicken, rubens, venison burgers and the pile of onion rings that will feed a family of five easily. The burgers are the star. We ordered the burger with swiss cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. The burgers are accompanied with a side of french fries. The fries were fair, a bit soggy and lacking salt. I wanted an order of rings but after seeing the size, I realized it was to much. The star was the burger, no surprise. The grilled onions with mushrooms and cheese was perfect. I needed a handful of napkins as it was juicy, NOT GREASY! Two things we noticed. You need a trash can on the porch so you don't have to fight through the crowd to bus your trash. I also think you could cut back on your portion size as we noted just how much food customers were throwing away as it was to much food. The atmosphere is loud, crowded and a great vibe. It is hard to have a quiet conversation here, but smiles are abundant. To make the experience better, take a seat on the front porch. You can enjoy a great burger and watching people strolling down the sidewalks.

Tracy B.

Yelp
We came up to Ouray from Montrose to visit the kitchen store and grab some lunch. There aren't many places open this time of year, but I'm glad that Maggie's was open! We all had the patty melts and they were amazing. The burgers were juice and the fries were freshly made. Don't let the decor question your decision to eat here...I'm not a big fan of the ink covered walls, but obviously other people like drawing all over the walls, ceilings, lights, and tables. Another bonus about Maggie's are their prices. Very reasonable for the food they serve.

Seth A.

Yelp
Ouray, Colorado is one of my favorite cities in the country. The scenery and mountain vistas surrounding you are spectauclar!!! I had read that Maggie's Kitchen was known for their famous hamburgers. After driving "Million Dollar Highway" to arrive in Ouray...I was craving a good burger. Maggie's is situated right in the heart of town in Ouray....along the quaint streets...it can't be missed. This place has the perfect outdoor seating! I will give them that. After ordering...you can bring your food outside to the benches overlooking the cars passing by through town amidst the snow capped peaks of the "Switzerland of America" in the background. The setting is undeniable. Just picturesque as it gets! I highly recommend sitting down outside, when in season. Otherwise, they do have tables and chairs to eat on from the inside. Maggie's is pretty authentic. It's a small, local shop where they feature a chalkboard as their menu. You approach the counter and place your order and then wait as they call your meal out to you when it's ready. Then you can sit down anywhere. The interior of Maggie's has tons of coloring and writing on the walls that's makes the vibe pretty unique. It sort of has that dive bar personality. Although they are praised for their burgers, they also offer sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, etc. Prices are more than reasonable ranging anywhere from $7 - $10 per burger/sandwich. Here's where things went downhill for me. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger (which came with fries) and purchased a fountain soda as well where they have a station setup for unlimited refills. I was highly disappointed with my hamburger. They loaded it up with bacon (my favorite), yet the bacon was as thick and fatty as it gets. It bordered on being inedible. After attempting to break off the bacon, the fat content turned me away and I decided to just leave it off to the side:( The burger and cheese was just mediocre. It reminded me of your typical 5 Guys burger....and I'm over that place. The burger felt heavy and I lost interest and never even finished it. The French fries were average, almost too bland. They gave you a bunch of fries....way too many...and eventually they got cold and I simply tossed the remainder away. Ultimately, Maggie's failed me. I was genuinely excited to come here to this small town joint among the beautiful surroundings that make up this rustic town. Regardless, I still had a wonderful time exploring Ouray though I believe there are better restaurants along the main road to choose from other than Maggie's.

Hailey P.

Yelp
We decided to make the drive from Telluride to Ouray to spend the day and are so happy that we did! Ouray is such a cool little mountain town, they call it the "Switzerland of America." Now having been to Switzerland, i'm not sure if I completely agree BUT it is very quaint and cool. That said, we had our pup with us and needed to eat lunch at a dog friendly spot. Unfortunately there weren't a ton of dog friendly restaurants in town but the visitors center pointed us to Maggies Kitchen and said they have the best burgers in town! Ok, sign us up! This is a super casual, somewhat divey spot that serves a variety of burgers and tasty hand-cut fries. They have a variety of toppings for your burger but I opted for the simple cheeseburger and then they have a topping "bar" where you can add whatever you'd like! Of course, I added all of the things: Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo, mustard, ketchup. Yes, i'm a sauce freak! I love that they let you dress your own burger -all the pickles please! The burger was LARGE and very tasty! It was also pretty packed on a Wednesday at lunchtime. We would absolutely eat at Maggies again. Thanks for the tasty burger and for allowing our pup to join us on the patio! :)

Susi H.

Yelp
If you are looking for a very good burger and some delicious fries then this is the place for you. If you are looking for the above but ALSO for friendly staff and good service than this is not the place for you. The hole experience was nothing to write home about and there are plenty of signs around the restaurant to make sure you don't forger that you are not THAT welcome here. A ton of DO NOT, DON'T and NO's are plastered about. Certainly not a welcoming atmosphere nor service. Not a place where the customer is king :( Too sad, as they do have the food part down. They could be great, but I would definitely not return or recommend to a friend given the other options in Ouray that offer both quality and service.

Krista G.

Yelp
Get place to grab a burger. Elk burger had great flavor and was cooked as ordered. Atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. Highly recommend a stop in here if passing by.

Karl S.

Yelp
Had the Patty melt and daughter had biscuits and gravy, both were outstanding, French fries are home made to perfection. I thought the patty melt was a slight bit salty, that's the reason for only 4 stars, everything else, including the service and vibe, are 5 stars!

Tracey B.

Yelp
This place is SUPER busy and it takes a bit of time to get a takeout order but the food is good and the staff are nice.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Best burger I've ever had. I love the hole in the wall ambiance, such a small town warm vibe with the best fries i've ever had. Owner is super friendly, a must try!!

JD M.

Yelp
Seriously great burgers in a funky spot. All three of us ordered the 420. Them with fries and me with slaw. The burger has so many amazingly delicious onion rings ON IT, you don't really need fries or slaw. Easy ordering at the counter inside. Lots of seating inside, the porch out front or behind the place. Well behaved dogs allowed front or rear outside, not inside.

Jason M.

Yelp
For a burger place, Maggie's is a wonderful find in Ouray. The procedure here is to order your food ahead of time, f9nd a seat and they tell your name. Try to sit on the porch, the people watching is great. We had a kids grilled cheese (3.5 stars), a regular cheese burger and a buffalo burger. The buffalo was excellent, the regular burger was pretty tasty too. We had fries, but should have ordered onion rings... they are natural cut and not too bad. No alcohol here, soft drinks only, BUT if you walk 20 yards to the right you can get a beer at the brewery next door. I highly recommend doing this and sitting on the porch. Very fun and relaxing.
