Magic Box Toys

Really wanted to shop & support this cute store but when salespeople are too busy with their phones to greet or help, the experience is less than optimal. Not a fun or warm shop! What a shame!

I really can get lost in this store for hours on end. It is where I went for my Toys for Tots donation this year. I was given tips on how to tell stuffed animal for infants vs. for 2 & up and found this soft, sweet tiger (pic below). I also went here to find a cool gift for my Bad Santa gift (vintage 90's tape shaped sponges, 90's chip clips that look like records, Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty, and a Mood Ring). My gift--which was meant to be 90's nostalgia themed-- was really appreciated and I felt like a lot of other items in the store would have similarly made cute, unexpected gifts.

the cutest shop with one horrible employee. I was inquiring about a damage item that was a gift from a family member, the employee actually hung up on me. I would have understood someone being so rude if i was being awful, but i was not. i was simply trying to get the facts straight about a damaged gift i received, since this family member spent a good bit of money at this shop and purchased a lot over the holidays. My husband and his family have had a small business for 25 years, i cannot imagine our family treating a customer this was or allowing an employee to get away with this. i am not even concerned about the item, but the manner in which this was handled. i have never experienced anything like it. Small business' like this will fail to amazon and other online stores who have better representatives than this. DO BETTER.

We love this store. It is truly magical and always a treat to stop by while in Uptown. The variety and quality of toys and gifts is unmatched. We always find something unique and special. Free gift wrapping is greatly appreciated.

I love this toy store. It is much larger than it seems from just walking by outside. In there you can find a few popular choices but also fun unique choices. There is a book section, puppets, playing cards, Fisher Price products, and more. Plus the prices are respectable and the staff are kind and helpful.

Ran in for last min Christmas gifts, ran out with 5 perfect finds for infants and lagniappe. Gifts got wrapped here and they even put labels on the packages for me to keep track of! A great selection of toys that adults and kids will love.

We try to go every Wednesday. The babies have so much fun He reads the books and plays the guitar with so much passion! Great selection of toys. Some very unique and instructional

We went there looking for a specific stuffed animal. Though they didn't carry what we wanted they called every toy store they could think of to give of us an idea of where the best place to look was AND looked online to give us ordering options. Go here first! They'll take care of you and make sure you find what you're looking for even if it's not from them. They're also not shy about being playful with the toys and allowing kids to be the same. It's a lovely atmosphere.

Magic Box is a godsend for all of us with hundreds of birthday parties to attend a year. I all on a Friday, giving them child specifics and a budget along with my cc number, and pickup a beautifully wrapped present a few hours later on my way home from work. What a time saver! Boutique shops like this cost more but you are supporting a local business and it's a convenience. Service here is great as well.

I feel like this place is a little under the radar, which is crazy because it's amazing! And this is coming from a child-free by choice person. I have found the most unique gifts for my niece and nephew here, and they gift wrap, too! Displays are grouped by theme, so it's easy to find what you're looking for- or get lost in all the fun stuff there is to look at, like I did. I even found a stocking stuffer for my husband, a win! There is also an impressive book selection. And right now, there's a red mailbox outside, where kids can mail letters to Santa. This place is an absolute treasure, DO NOT miss it when you're strolling on Magazine! There's something for everyone! #ThankYouThursday

Charming store with a good collection of games, toys, and puzzles, as well as some other assorted gifts. Great place to find a gift (last minute or not!) for children or any adult who likes puzzles or casual games.

Who doesn't want to stop and take a look at a place that says Magic? We were heading toward my car when I noticed the word magical. The place is filled with toys such as legos, dinosaur, costumes, umbrella, plush toys, trains, blocks, puzzles, books and many more for all kids preference. Friendly staff. They carries so many stuff that it can be a one stop gifts place.

Seriously, the best toy store in NOLA. I always find something fun for the kids (or the adults who act like kids) in my life. Recent purchases include: coloring books (for a my teen niece recovering from surgery), a Saints ball, washable markers (for the younger nieces), NOLA music CD for kids and a pig that shoots balls out of his nose. Yep this visit was part of my annual Magazine-Street-Black-Friday-Shopping-Extravaganza with my Mom.

I don't have children and neither do most of my friends, so I'm really clueless about what kids these days like. A lot of times when I don't know what to get my friends, I'll get them booze or a gift card, but I thought that practice might be frowned upon with children. So it was with much trepidation that I visited Magic Box to find the perfect gift for my cousin. Thankfully, the staff at Magic Box was extremely helpful, not to mention patient with my lack of decisiveness. This is the kind of service that you will not get at certain big box toy stores. Magic Box also has the kind of selection that you will not find in its corporate counterparts. The selection (thankfully) favors the more educational and creative toys, but you will find toys of all types here. Magic Box has a much more extensive website than I would have expected. Most notably, it allows you to browse by toy category and age group. You can also order online via the website, but I haven't personally tried this service. I highly recommend you check out Magic Box, especially if the thought of picking out the perfect toy sends you in a state of panic.

Well I gotta say I've never seen so many employees seem happy to work where they work. Everyone was just so joyful. Maybe it's the Christmas spirit or getting to be Santa's helpers? I don't know but it was a breath of fresh air compared to the big box stores. Their prices are a bit high (I found a tiny doll that I bought at ye random big box for $5 that they had priced for $19) but don't go here for the stuff you'd find at ye random big box, come here for the unique stuff. I found several games I'd never seen before, several building sets that I'd only seen online and a bunch of unique dress up items that my daughters are going to squee over. Mommy notes: Street parking sucks since they are so close to whole foods - combine two trips into one?, store is super tight, play area in back, 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult, super friendly employees!

My kids received gifts shipped today from Magic Box Toys. They were gift wrapped beautifully and packed securely. They received a toy, activity/art/learning book, and a puzzle, all fabulous and unique. The kids were thrilled, and I was impressed by the thoughtful treatment of gift items shipped to us. It was nothing like what I'd expect from mail order - it was a personal touch, even a thousand miles away :) Thanks, Magic Box! You have a new fan in Colorado!

Return policy sucks and do your own homework before you go. Associate (Raven) recommended the wrong size legos to me even though she assured me they were the right size. When I got home and opened the box, they were exactly the size I specifically said I did not it want. When I tried to take them back, she said, sorry, there's nothing I can do. No returns on sale items. This product was not even in the sale section when I bought it. So disappointed.

I went in here with my 15 month old for the first time today and we were impressed! The employees make it a welcoming and fun experience. It's really not pricey considering the quality of toys they carry

I have in the past received assignments that were handled with ease. Whether that was chasing a bad guy up a dark alley or dealing with a hostile Judge. However today my wife gave me a task that caused beads of sweat to appear on my forehead. To seek out and find a fun toy for a two year old and it has to be done today. I have not shopped for toys since I had a full head of hair. Turned to my trusted backup: YELP. Typed in "Toys" in the Nearby link and up popped The Magic Box. Immediately made my way to the target and entered with three words on my lips and looking for someone to tell them to. Those words were "I need help." And there was Malcolm who had the knowledge, patience, and friendliness I was seeking this morning. Got the job done with a very large smile on my face. And they do gift wrap for a $1.00 and they do it quickly. Great gift, birthday card and the toy gift wrapped in a jiffy. Of course I am going to take all the credit for my expert knowledge in finding great toys for children along with the most professional wrapping that I have on the gift. Just hope no one at the birthday party reads this review. Only reason The Magic Box is not a five star for me is that I have no other place to compare it to.

Listen I am ten so I got a pretty good idea in what to look for in toy stores and I always have had a thing for magic box I don't remember when I discovered the amazing Magic box . it is always a great place to find beautifully wrapped birthday presents for my BFFS. My family and My favorite coffee shop is right down the street so we ALWAYS have to make a quick Pitt stop at the amazing magic box the workers are so kind and always want the best for the customers they have a great selection of games toys puzzles and books we know we can always count on magic box

This uptown place is where I go for gifts for babies to 10 year old kids. You can find gifts by age, by sex, by categories of what they like (science, cars, brain-benders,music, etc.). I love the large selection of good quality toys.

I recently bought a toy for my child for Christmas here. The owner kindly helped me pick it out and my son loved it. Unfortunately it broke soon after. When I went to take it back the person helping me could not have been nicer about it and replaced it immediately. I almost never write reviews but I was so impressed and happy with the wonderful experience I had at the Magic Box.
