Magic Curries

I would have given 4 stars for this restaurant had our evening not been spoiled by not being served together. Unfortunately, my curry of aloo gobi had been frozen & reheated (my guess as it was chewy & undercooked). They replaced my curry with a mixed vegetable, which was cooked & spiced nicely, as was my partners Bombay beef. Update 18/1 Have been to India many times & have ordered aloo gobi in Australia many times & have never been served aloo gobi of this standard ever. This is my response to the reply from Magic Curries below. Why wasn't I offered another aloo gobi? Why was I only offered another curry?

Delicious Indian food! Beautiful spice/heat ratio, excellent quality ingredients, friendly efficient service. The atmosphere is cosy and a good wine selection too.

We loved our experience at Magic Curries. The name hides a great Indian food experience. The seasoning of the food is just right. We also loved the atmosphere and would return. The service staff knew gluten free restrictions and made good recommendations.

This place is a must-visit for those who love Indian or Asian cuisine. The food is incredibly tasty and the service is excellent. It’s conveniently located near the city center, but parking can be a bit tricky. To avoid any hassle, make sure to book your table in advance.

Service was prompt friendly and efficient. Staff made me feel very comfortable to dine alone. Atmosphere was filled with cultural artworks very beautiful. I ordered Sagh Gosht. (Mildly spiced lamb cooked with fresh leafy spinach puree.) It was rated medium heat and match my spice expectations but then the flavours just blew my mind. Such tender melt in your mouth lamb swimming in a richly spiced spinach puree. I have eaten a lot of curries over my lifetime but this could be the best. If only I lived in Tasmania.

I'm not normally a butter chicken person however I read all the 5 star reviews and thought I should give it a go. Probably the best Indian meal I've ever had. The naan was cooked to perfection, just delicious with the right amount of crunch and fluffiness. We also loved the lamb korma. My only regret is I couldn't eat more as I was so full after my 2 curries, rice and naan. Highly recommend pairing it with a kingfisher beer. Wish I had another night in Hobart so I could come back for dinner tomorrow.

Google directed me to this little gem! We were on our way back from Bruny Island and needed takeout for our last night in Hobart. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the food delicious ! You definitely deserve your star rating. Well done 👍🏼

The food was good, just not amazing. But definitely good. Plates were warm, which I always appreciate, The naans were hot and fresh, the curries were good. Just not spectacular, so I can't do 5 stars. But worth a try.

Definitely the best curry in Hobart. Reasonably priced and in the Entertainment Book! I highly recommend the Kadahi Chicken.

good indian food. the owner runs the place and is very friendly. happy to visit the place one to two times a month.
