I would have given 4 stars for this restaurant had our evening not been spoiled by not being served together. Unfortunately, my curry of aloo gobi had been frozen & reheated (my guess as it was chewy & undercooked). They replaced my curry with a mixed vegetable, which was cooked & spiced nicely, as was my partners Bombay beef. Update 18/1 Have been to India many times & have ordered aloo gobi in Australia many times & have never been served aloo gobi of this standard ever. This is my response to the reply from Magic Curries below. Why wasn't I offered another aloo gobi? Why was I only offered another curry?

We visited as a family of 3 this evening! The food was rich in flavor and absolutely authentic. What made it even more special was the restaurant owner, who came by to personally greet us and chat for a bit. That small gesture meant a lot. The staff was kind and attentive. Thank you for making us feel welcome and cared for and it’s always a joy dining here. 🙌

This place is a must-visit for those who love Indian or Asian cuisine. The food is incredibly tasty and the service is excellent. It’s conveniently located near the city center, but parking can be a bit tricky. To avoid any hassle, make sure to book your table in advance.

We loved our experience at Magic Curries. The name hides a great Indian food experience. The seasoning of the food is just right. We also loved the atmosphere and would return. The service staff knew gluten free restrictions and made good recommendations.

A little gem, hidden a short walk away from Salamanca Markets. Some of the best Indian food we have ever tasted, coupled with a friendly service, always with a smile. The dining experience takes place in two cozy and slightly quirky little rooms that share an open fire. It's down to earth and not fancy, but makes for a great place to enjoy a meal. We enjoyed a pleasant few hours here on a cold Hobart evening and it ticked all the boxes. We will most definitely return next time we are in Tasmania.

Yelp
The food was good, just not amazing. But definitely good. Plates were warm, which I always appreciate, The naans were hot and fresh, the curries were good. Just not spectacular, so I can't do 5 stars. But worth a try.

Yelp
Definitely the best curry in Hobart. Reasonably priced and in the Entertainment Book! I highly recommend the Kadahi Chicken.
