Magic Curries

The food was outstanding. The best naan I’ve ever had…very soft on the inside with just the right crunch outside…The butter chicken was incredibly rich and flavourful, and the goat curry was just as impressive. The chilli chicken was a bit chewy, but the taste is what covers it up…The restaurant was very beautiful, love the way it was decorated… Overall, a great experience and definitely a place I will come back to.!!!

Absolutely loved everything! The Kadhi Paneer, Vegetable Korma, Mixed Vegetable, Peas Pulao, Basmati Rice, and Garlic Naan were all packed with flavor. Each dish stood out on its own. Highly recommended! Will definitely order again.

Returning to this restaurant whilst on holiday we found the same excellent high standard has been maintained. The food was well cooked and spice level as indicated on the menu which suited us fine. Good quality ingredients assisted and the service was attentive but not rushed. Very pleasant evening

Delicious Indian food! Beautiful spice/heat ratio, excellent quality ingredients, friendly efficient service. The atmosphere is cosy and a good wine selection too.

I would have given 4 stars for this restaurant had our evening not been spoiled by not being served together. Unfortunately, my curry of aloo gobi had been frozen & reheated (my guess as it was chewy & undercooked). They replaced my curry with a mixed vegetable, which was cooked & spiced nicely, as was my partners Bombay beef. Update 18/1 Have been to India many times & have ordered aloo gobi in Australia many times & have never been served aloo gobi of this standard ever. This is my response to the reply from Magic Curries below. Why wasn't I offered another aloo gobi? Why was I only offered another curry?

I went to this Indian restaurant to celebrate my birthday, but unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The lady ( owner wife) who was serving us was extremely rude and didn’t even smile once. It felt like she didn’t want to serve Indian customers at all. We noticed that the non-Indian (Aussie) customers were treated much better, while we received unfriendly service and bad attitude. The food was also not good — definitely not what we expected from an Indian restaurant. We only stayed long enough to have our starters and then left to eat at another place because the atmosphere didn’t feel welcoming at all. The owner did come over briefly and seemed like a nice person who knows how to treat people, but lady behaviour completely ruined the experience. Very disappointing, especially on my birthday. I hope they improve their attitude and treat all customers equally.

An authentic Indian cuisine experience. Their Butter Chicken was rich, decadent, wonderfully thick, and buttery. And they do a fantastic, doughy, beautifully charred Cheese Garlic Naan to pair with it. Crispy spiced papadams add a different texture to the meal, highly recommended as well 🙌🏻 didn’t manage to get any pictures because we were too excited to try it.

The food was good, just not amazing. But definitely good. Plates were warm, which I always appreciate, The naans were hot and fresh, the curries were good. Just not spectacular, so I can't do 5 stars. But worth a try.

Definitely the best curry in Hobart. Reasonably priced and in the Entertainment Book! I highly recommend the Kadahi Chicken.

good indian food. the owner runs the place and is very friendly. happy to visit the place one to two times a month.
