So, planning an Orlando getaway just a few weeks after Christmas and looking to save a few dollars after the big holiday spend, I found myself at Magic Moments. The pics looked basic but nice enough and the weather was cold, so I wasn't worried about having the grand pool that we usually seek out in the summer.
Check in was good, and Rolando at the front desk was super professional and helpful. However, I was initially surprised by the hotel. The room was clean and true to pictures shown online, but it is amazing what good angles and lighting can do. I would say that Magic Moments is definitely a nice motel, but far from a "resort". It should not be called a resort, and with a $14 daily "resort" fee I consider to be ridiculous and excessive.
The positives- Basic heated pool with floats and really nice pool furniture, including complimentary cabanas. Separate game areas for adults and kids with games such as air hockey, foosball, and hoop shooting game in the adult playroom, and coloring, video games, and a giant Jenga game in the kids playroom. Children's playground. Washer & dryer available. Complimentary breakfast which included basic items such as cereal, bread, bagels, bananas, oranges, donuts, and muffins. Mickey Mouse face pancakes, which were a cute touch. There was also a rotating variety of hot items. One day was eggs & bacon, the following day there were cheese omelets & sausage. The hot items were very basic in quality, but tasted decent if you aren't picky. Rooms had a fridge and there were microwaves available in the common areas.
The negatives- Tub didn't drain well. It was that nasty situation of standing in your own dirty water. The toilet made a strange, loud noise after flushing which was very annoying in the middle of the night and loud enough to wake me up several times during my stay. The walls seemed paper thin and you could hear EVERYTHING, from the neighbors next door to anyone walking by. The hotel has a disclaimer that says they do not guarantee a quiet room, and now I know why. Also, $14 resort fee just felt too high.
Overall, I just couldn't get a good night of sleep here, and that is a major issue for me. When I was booking I had one basic need- a clean and quiet place to lay my head at night and get much needed rest after long days at the parks. Magic Moments was only able to deliver clean. I am not sure if I would consider staying here again, because sleep is life and I was deprived.
