Yelp
Great food. The wild rice soup was a little too creamy and bland. The fries, onion rings, fried pickles are superb. Their corned beef is VERY good: lean, moist, tasty. They known what they're going with the corned beef. If you get the wings, and for them well done. They weren't undercooked, but they could've used some "crisp" to them. The hot peppers on the sandwich had a nice bite; way more than Minnesota hot, but not overpowering. There are lots of corned beef dished on the menu, and even Irish bangers. Rumor has it that the banger sandwich is a creative alternative to the Philly cheesesteak... replaced the steak with sliced bangers (gotta try tthat one next time!)
Since it was quiet, the cook brought out a round of food. Always good to meet the cook and have a chance to talk about the food. The bartender, Ashley, was a great host, recommended fantastic food, and was knowledgable about her Irish beer and whiskey.
On tap, there was a full compliment of Guinness products, like Guinness draught, Kilkenny, Harp, and my personal favorite, Smithwicks. They also carry 18 year Jameson for those that love a fine Irish whiskey.
Two changes I'd like to see are 1) Get rid of the all-black walls. This has the makings of a great Irish pub, and shouldn't look like a teenager's goth bedroom. And 2) Setup a breakfast menu. They already have the Irish bangers, so add some Irish steel cut oatmeal and a good plate of eggs.
I'll be heading back to try some of the other dishes. This is too good to pass up. This place has a lot of potential for becoming one of the best Irish pubs in the twin cities area.
Lastly, the price is fair: $45 for three lunches, a large bowl of soup, and two large apps (no drinks).
Well done!!! Slainte!
