If you’re planning to stay here, be prepared to have an incredible amount of patience. The owner is simply not on site at agreed times. On our last day, we had to wait around 2.5 hours just to pay in person—bank transfer isn’t an option, even though they do accept card payments in person. Because of this delay, we missed our train and had to buy a new ticket. While traveling, I unfortunately realized I had left my headphones in the room. I called the owner just to ask if they were still there. Before even checking, he immediately became defensive and asked what I expected from him—whether I thought he should go out of his way during “his time” to send them back. This was especially frustrating considering he had made us wait for hours multiple times during our stay. He told me his time is valuable and that he only works for about €30 an hour, which I would have to pay if he were to send them. We agreed on the phone that I would cover the shipping costs and that I should email him my address. That was over five weeks ago, and he hasn’t responded to any of my emails or calls since. A quick look at my call history during the stay would give you a clear idea of how seriously service and communication are taken here. Under these circumstances, I strongly advise against staying—unless you’re someone who enjoys waiting for hours every day, as if you were stuck in a doctor’s waiting room

Very nice room, well located. The staff was great, very attentive and with good advice on local activities. Includes a nice breakfast. Highly recommended.

I entered the wrong room, because instruction in the email was not clear… at midnight the other guests arrive and they wanted to enter their room, where I was sleeping. So the owner decided to enter my room while I was asleep, he woke me up and started to furiously yale at me. I got so scared, I got a panic attack and couldn’t breathe or speak for a while. After that I explained why I chose this room and he was again screaming on me.. then he talked to the other guests and they decided to stay at the other room. The rest of the night I didn’t sleep, because I got so stressed. In the morning I decided to leave the hotel because I didn’t feel safe there anymore. Owner was surprised and he tried to keep me there, telling me I shouldn’t worry because everybody makes mistakes. He told me that he was tired and that he was also very scared when the other guests woke him up with a call… There was a mistake in the email, because it said that all the rooms are on the first floor and the one word, which said “groundfloor” was in Swedish, so I couldn’t understand it. That’s why I entered the wrong room… BUT.. Unfortunately, there is no explanation for me for such a behaviour. You just can’t enter the room when a person is sleeping there and you can’t scream on that person. Even if it’s your guest who chose the wrong room. And what if I would be sleeping there naked? It’s the worse accommodation experience I have ever had. I don’t reccomend this place to anyone.

Location is good. But the staff seems to be incapable of keeping track of the payments. I was asked to pay for a room that was already paid and they are making the whole process very complicated- it is time consuming to stay here.

Stayed for two nights. Booking was easy. No reception, but got a code for the door and we stayed in the yellow room. Very nice room, fairly big. Clean and cozy. ||Stefan was on site when we arrived. He let us park my motorsycle in the back garden. Safe and private parking for my bike. Stefan (the host) was an extremely nice person. He gold us about places to visit, gave us tips on where to eat etc. extremely helpful man. The breakfast was like eating at a friends house. Simple but sufficient and very cozy. Will be back.

Having stayed multiple times at Magles Smiley Inn, I feel very comfortable giving my warm recommendations!||||The owner is goodhearted and very service-minded. As some previous reviewers have stated, there is selldom any staff around upon arrival, but by talking to the owner before arriving (e-mial with info and contact details are sent out some time before arrival) you can get all the information you need and make the request that you wish. I have yet to encounter any kind of problem. ||||The building is old and cosy, with rooms that are nicely decorated, warm and in good condition. The beds are super nice and the location is one of the absolute best in Lund with the absolute city center only a couple of minutes away by foot, but situated on a very quiet street; the best of both worlds!

I very much enjoyed my stay here. It's true that you will not see staff until breakfast, but the email communication with Alexander and Stefan both before and during my stay were excellent. As promised, I was emailed an entry code the day before my arrival, and it opened the door without a hitch.||||Prior to my arrival, Alexander was helpful in explaining the parking. It is just a few steps away; you just have to stop at the inn first, using your entry code, and get a parking pass, which you display on your dashboard in the nearby lot. My map found the place easily.||||The building is pretty and charming, but rooms are modern and very well equipped. I was in the blue room and it was perfect. Great shower, excellent quality bed, great lighting, strong wifi, plenty of room to unpack, super clean, a pitcher of water waiting for me, a lovely view from my window. It is no more than a 5 minute walk to the church and university. You are in the center of it all.||||I would recommend this place highly.

Everything is good, excellent location, very close to university of Lund and to the centre. The Hotel.is in the old city of Lund. Cozy rooms very spacious with comfortable bed. The house has also a really wonderful backyard full of trees and flowers
