Magnolia Bakery - Rockefeller Center

I visited Magnolia Bakery recently and while I was hoping for a more pleasant experience, I did encounter a few issues. The place was quite cluttered, with a chaotic ordering area, which affected my overall experience. I only tried the vanilla cupcakes, which, despite the disorganized environment, were quite good. The texture and taste were nice, but the mess in the place took away some of the charm from the visit. I hope they can improve the organization of the place so that the experience is as pleasant as the quality of their products.

The piece of cakes was delicious. In two people we have ordered 1 banana pudding, 1 salted caramel pecan cheesecake and 1 chai latte to share and a bottle of water at the price of 22,66$. I really suggest to came in this place and try the tasty cake they prepare. Just the barman that served us was little bit rude. Suggest to trait client differently

Obsessed!! We were in NYC for a short trip and I think we went o Magnolia two r three times for banana pudding! It was so good! The staff was fun and friendly at this location. It is a small spot and since it was winter we had to take our items to go, but I'd go back countless times if I could!

To praise this bakery and climb it up in the sky you should have some taste issues or you haven’t tasted a decent pâtisserie product. We tried their famous banana pudding and didn’t understand why it was famous. If you don’t try it you miss nothing.

Glad I got to experience this iconic bakery while visiting NYC. Good variety of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other good looking pastries, as well as their famous banana pudding. Be mindful that there is one line for the puddings and a separate line for the other items. We came in the evening toward closing time and it wasn’t a long wait. The banana pudding is light, fluffy, the perfect texture, and not too sweet. It is worth a stop if you are in the city.

Enjoyed the lemonade and banana pudding. Was not too sweet and great flavors. According to my friend who is from Louisiana, it could be much sweeter and she thought it was ok. Had a nice break while enjoying the fall weather in NY.

The banana pudding was very good, but there could have been more bananas and lady fingers definitely. The red velvet cake was ok just a bit too sweet but the sponge was very good. Try to avoid going during the times when it is busiest (morning/ early afternoon) because you will have to wait in a line for a while.

This is my go to place whenever I visit the city- they have the BEST banana pudding! The pudding is nicely sweetened with such a fluffy yet creamy taste. If you’re in NYC, you have to try Magnolia! Service is fast. There’s two lines which are for those that want banana pudding and those that want their bakery items. I’ve only tried the classic pudding, I would love to try their other pudding flavors! There’s no seating inside, but there’s plenty of seating options across the street.

I had my first taste of Magnolia in Chicago and I have been thinking about it since. I was soooo excited to stop by this location right before my show at Radio City and was glad there was no line when we arrived. I told my friends to try out the banana pudding so we all ordered a small cup. The first spoonful of it was magical. It was fluffy, creamy, and the banana pieces were heaven. It tasted just how I remember it tasting, delicious! The worker was friendly and our transaction was fast.

The classic banana pudding is AMAZING. if you like banana cream pies you will love this pudding. Very rich but not too overpowering. They also have a seasonal red velvet banana pudding which was good but the class is way better. Expect long lines. Workers were ok, seemed over it but i can see why. Busy busy place. I had to stop by and try their famous Banana pudding. The line was a bit long and took about 10-15 minutes once we got inside the staff was not that friendly. Once you're inside the door person tends to rush you and that's when the two lines become confusing. The left line is to order everything but the banana pudding the right one is to pay and order the banana pudding. I had a small Banana pudding which was very good, I also tried the caramel pecan cheesecake and that one was okay.

Had to visit Magnolia Bakery while in NYC as my friend was dying to go, and wanted to try their banana pudding. The line is quite confusing and no one is really there to help or answer questions. The employees are quite unfriendly as well, which was unfortunate as we had quite high expectations when visiting a Magnolia location. My friend did love the banana pudding, so that was definitely the highlight of our visit. However, my coffee was not very good at all. Overall, I'd say with the exception of the banana pudding, I wouldn't recommend or visit this Magnolia Bakery again.

Banana pudding was so amazing.... Very rich.... but a must try.... I loved it in small portions.... Line out the door and around the corner...

I've been going to Magnolia Bakery for years now. This Rockefeller Center location always has a queue so prepare to wait, but they do not run out of items. FYI: The location in Moynihan Train Hall is a hidden gem and is always less crowded. If you only want pudding, you can go straight to the line to the cashier. If you want anything to drink or the baked goods, you need to wait on the left for assistance and then go on the line to the right to the cashier. The lines move fast. I always get their Chocolate Chunk Blondie ($3.95 each) and Magic Cookie Bar ($3.95 each). Their chocolate chunk blondie is a blend of a brownie and a blondie. The magic cookie bar is full of coconut flavor. Both are delicious and delightful. The puddings are always tasting fresh and soft. There are 3 different sizes (small, medium, and large). This most recent time, I got a small Classic Banana Pudding ($4.95 each) and a small seasonal flavor - apple crisp banana pudding ($5.75 each). The apple crisp banana pudding was mind blowing. There are actual pieces of apple and the pudding is so soft. Amazing!

This is one bakery whose "world famous" item actually lives up to the hype. The staff aren't friendly or welcoming, but they are fast so you'll generally be in and out pretty quickly. The interior is small and can get crowded with the two lines. Heads up: if you're just getting the famous banana pudding, get in the line for the register. If you're ordering anything else, you have to order at the front and then get back in the register line. No indoor or outdoor seating. No restrooms, WiFi, or parking. The banana pudding is a must try! It's creamy, delicious, and just the right level of sweet. Don't bother with anything else - none of the other pastries or drinks are worth the wait or the money. Prices are fair to slightly expensive. 10/10 recommend this bakery for the pudding!

This location can get pretty busy, but the line usually moves pretty quickly. As always the original banana pudding is delicious, but this time we also tried the seasonal red velvet version as well. It was also super yummy and had bits of red velvet cake mixed in.

The banana pudding was just as good as I remembered. It's a solid choice no matter if it's your first or hundredth time visiting. It is a bit on the sweeter side, but that makes it perfect for sharing so that you only have a few spoonfuls at a time. The banana flavored pudding is layered with sliced bananas and chunks of nilla wafers. We washed it all down with cup of hot tea and it was the perfect way to wrap up a day out in the city!

absolutely is worth the hype!! there was a line out the door when we got there but it went very fast. there's no seating indoor and you order and pay when you get called up to the register. the banana pudding was way better than i had expected & they also had a red velvet banana pudding which was surprisingly good.

Had to visit my favorite bakery while back in town. Opted for a slice of vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Cake slices were prepackaged and ready to go, grabbed one and headed to the checkout. There was no waiting, which was great. The cashier kindly included a wrapped plastic spoon in the bag, so I could enjoy the treat in my hotel room. The cake was just like I remember it and the vanilla butter cream frosting in the best! Love Magnolia Bakery and will be back. They have so many more treats now!

We tried the red velvet cake, pumpkin bread pudding, and a cookie. The cookie was OK but there are other places nearby where you can do better. Where's the cream cheese frosting? The pumpkin bread pudding was also disappointing, strong spices hit the back of my throat. It wasnt as balanced as one would expect. I should have trusted my gut and skipped.

Employees are rude. No customer service skills. They act like you're bothering them. Had the tea and lemonade machines cleaned 20 minutes prior to closing.

Magnolia Bakery is always a solid choice for sweet treats, but the carrot cake bread pudding was just good--not something I'd go out of my way for. It was satisfying but lacked the wow factor. That said, their cakes and other baked goods are much better and worth the hype. I'll stick to those next time!

I recently visited Magnolia Bakery, and it was a fantastic experience. I've had their treats shipped before, but nothing beats the freshness of enjoying them on-site. SERVICE a The service was straightforward--just head to the back for pudding orders and pay at the cashier. FOOD - I tried their pudding, and it was incredible. Creamy and fresh with no artificial additives, every bite was genuinely satisfying. If you're in the area, definitely make a stop at Magnolia Bakery--you won't regret it!

They have the best Banana Pudding in the world! Creamy, right amount of sugar and rich in flavor. There's always lineups inside and even outside the bakery, but good new is that it moves really fast, specially if you only want to buy Banana Pudding and don't want to check other options. Despite the crowded environment and too many customers to deal with, the staff are kind and friendly.

A bit overhyped for bakery goods. I tried one of their cupcakes with vanilla frosting. It was average. Also tried their banana pudding. Not a fan lol. I love banana desserts but did not like the consistency of the pudding, so much bread and so little banana flavor.

OMG... the apple crisp banana pudding is so yummy. The caramel pecan cheesecake was also delicious. The shop is quaint and cute. The staff was pleasant enough. Tip-You can order your pastries while waiting in line from the staff behind the display case.

The banana pudding here was soooo good! It's not overly sweet and there's so many vanilla wafers. The bananas were the perfect ripeness and weren't rotten. I didn't try any other desserts like the cookies or cupcakes, but they didn't look as appetizing as the banana pudding. This location wasn't crowded at all. The employees provided our order very quickly.

This place had a lot of dessert options including cookies, pastries, tarts, and of course their famous banana pudding. They actually had a separate line for people only buying banana pudding, which seemed to speed up the line as the pudding was already prepared and packed. I had a medium banana pudding ($7.25). This was very tasty. Everything was extremely light and had enough sweetness present. My only issue was the cookie and the number of bananas present. There was too much of the cookie and the texture I would have liked to see a little softer. There needed to be more bananas present as each bite that contained banana was great. Overall, very pleasing. Will I go back? Yes.

I saw a group of people eating their banana pudding outside so I gave in and decided to try it to. It was okay. It is not anything special and something for people who happen to pass by it, but not worth any special effort to get one.

Must get: banana pudding! It is out of this world, smooth, flavorful, not so sweet to hurt my teeth! Wish they ship worldwide!

Sorry... not worth the hype. It tasted good, I won't take that from them, but it's reminiscent of my homemade version. I wasn't blown away based on the social media hype. No inside eating, so I sat across the street at the fountain to get those bites.

Okay, yum. I came only for the banana pudding - and I am so so glad I did. It is light, airy, and so packed of flavor! (I almost grabbed more in LGA before I flew home!) This is a small location, so it can definitely get packed during busier times - and their two line system can be a bit confusing (so be sure to listen to staff to make sure you are in the right line, based on what you are trying to order).

This review is strictly for their Banana pudding!! This is all i've ever tried each and every time I go here because it is just absolutely delicious!! Hands down the best banana pudding i've ever tried. The perfect ratio of banana, wafers, and cream pudding all combined in a cup. Tried locations in Midtown west, Midtown east, and the theater district and all locations were consistent in taste. Had small/crowded locations. Customer service was friendly.

Amazing banana pudding. I'm not an expert by any means, but I think it was the best banana pudding I've ever had. My friend and I stopped by this Magnolia Bakery location near the Rockefeller Center around 7 pm on Saturday and there was a short line. The bakery is small and doesn't offer any seating. You can line up directly if all you want to order is the banana pudding, otherwise you can go up to the counter to order coffee or anything else. They have a huge selection of cheesecakes among other things. Neither of us were that hungry and we were planning to grab food right afterwards so we decided to share a small classic banana pudding for $4.95. They also offer a special cookies and cream banana pudding, but we decided to stay with the original. We ate it maybe 30 minutes later as we were walking and it was so good. The cream was very light and there was a good amount of banana chunks inside. Overall it wasn't that sweet either, which is my preference. It was the perfect sweet bite for us to share after dinner! Even though we were completely full from food, we killed the banana pudding and wanted more. Unfortunately we didn't have any other chances to grab it from other locations for the rest of the trip, but I will definitely get more banana pudding on my next trip to New York! Surprisingly this ended up being one of our favorite things we ate on this trip.

Heard that the banana pudding here is supposed to be the best. It's definitely fluffier and creamier than your standard banana pudding. There's a lot of staff there to try and expedite the line as well but no seating nearby so it feels a bit rushed.

Order: classic banana pudding Pros: this was really really good! Although I felt the pudding was more like whipped cream or frosting. Still good. I mean slap yo mama good. I had the strangest craving for some banana pudding over the weekend, so naturally I found myself at one of Magnolia's many outposts. Is there even any other place one can acquire banana pudding? The Rockefeller outpost is right on the corner of 49th and 6th. The lines are a little slow, and the staff will direct you to either walk to the line by the wall for banana pudding, or come to the counter first to order everything else un-banana pudding related before walking to the line by the wall to pay. There is no seating available, so be prepared to grab and go. The banana pudding comes in three sizes and a variety of flavors. On my most recent visit, I ordered a small original pudding cup ($4.95) which hit the spot. While the vanilla wafers had softened to a cake like texture, I would have liked a tiny bit more crunch for a textural contrast against the silky sweet and ultra fluffy vanilla pudding. There are other flavors of banana pudding available, including red velvet and chocolate hazelnut, but I would definitely recommend starting with the original as it is a NYC classic for a reason.

Ordered the seasonal apple crisp pudding and a vanilla cupcake, which satisfied my dessert cravings. I've had most of magnolia's seasonal puddings and I think the seasonal apple crisp has to be my third favorite. I loved the taste of it with the wafers and everything, but it didn't have any bananas in it which was kinda sad. The apple pieces were okay, not the best. The vanilla cupcake was delicious though. I understand why that's a best seller. The service was great where they took my order and got me my items fast. The ambiance was just a bit too crowded where a family cut me in line, but it wasn't a big deal. Probably will stop by a different Magnolia Bakery that's a bit less in a tourist spot. Haven't been to this location before, but had to pop in for their seasonal chocolate-strawberry banana cream pudding flavor in February. Their pudding is, by far, their best thing and the only real reason to go and this one was stupendous! Finished the medium cup immediately. When you stop in, always get their seasonal pudding when you can. 5 stars!!!

The worst customer service I've ever experienced. The younger ladies working there were yelling at customers the moment we walked in and told a co-worker that the customers were deaf. An inefficient buying process led to confusion amongst many as to which line to be in. We were asked to exit the long line we had been in to pick out what we wanted, only to realize we needed to get right back in to the back of the line to purchase the items we wanted. I was shocked with how rude and unprofessional this business was. We walked right out and won't be returning.

Whenever there's a seasonal banana pudding, I feel almost foodie bound to get it because I've tried almost all the seasonal variants by now haha. That, and just cause I enjoy the pudding from here haha. This time the carrot cake pudding reared its head and ofc I had to give it a try. It basically tastes as good as you would expect, delicious vanilla pudding with chunks of spiced carrot cake intermingle together in a well balanced ratio. And I really appreciate the pineapple in it which gives it a slight citrus bite on occasion, that's not something that strictly raisins gives and I appreciate it. Look forward to the next seasonal one!

The staff wasn't that friendly maybe we entered at the wrong time. The close of business but we were craving Magnolia. We took the cupcakes, banana pudding and cake to the hotel and enjoyed every minute of it.

We were standing in line for an NBC taping when it occurred to us that there was a Magnolia Bakery right around the corner. And what better snack for line-standing than banana pudding? We both got a small Classic Banana Pudding Cup ("creamy vanilla pudding layers with vanilla wafers and fresh bananas") and dug in immediately. There's a reason the Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding has become so infamous. It's just delicious. It's loaded with delectable vanilla pudding and chunks of perfectly ripe bananas and those vanilla wafers. All together, everything just works so well together. It might be a touch on the overly sweet side, but that's a very minor complaint for a dessert that's otherwise completely addictive.

I got a cupcake (vanilla with chocolate buttercream), cupcake was dry and I didn't finish it. So I finished off my hubby's pudding. A+++++ for the banana pudding! I don't even like bananas but this pudding is so very heavenly!!! My goodness, why haven't I stumbled upon this gem any sooner? My daughter had a slice of chocolate cake and she loved it, huge slice, super rich and she couldn't finish it. However, the banana pudding outshines everything. It was so very good.

Definitely a more commercial, tourist location and vibe of magnolias, but I think it was similar in quality. There seemed to be a wider range of choices in this one compared to the original location, but that makes sense because of the location of Rockefeller plaza and the general foot traffic is higher they have to have more on hand in general. Not a lot of charm, and not a very personal experience because of those factors. The turtle cheesecake we got was delicious, had plenty of toppings, and was still moist.

This place is known for their banana pudding and man did they deliver . This banana pudding was the best I have ever had! Long line out front but it moves fairly quick. You may ask why 4 stars and not 5... I will say, if I only had the banana pudding it would have been 7 out of 5, but we ordered a few other items and were underwhelmed by them. The red velvet banana pudding cookies was a bit dry and crumbly. The blueberry crumble muffin was also dry and was very dense. For those reasons I had to know a star off, however, it is a guarantee that I will be back again on this trip (maybe a few times) for the banana pudding! This is a must in NYC!!

I'm no banana pudding connoisseur but since we were in the area we wanted to give their famous banana pudding a try! The staff were efficient especially since there was a line of people wanting to order. They have a separate line for everyone who wants banana pudding specifically. There's no indoor seating so we actually ate outside on the street since the street was closed. The pudding was really creamy and fluffy. What I really liked about it is that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It wasn't a really heavy dessert either but it was rich enough that I definitely could not finish a pint on my own. We shared amongst 4 of us and could barely finish! We also got their seasonal flavor (chocolate peanut butter pretzel) and honestly the original was better! The chocolate one was much heavier overall. It reminded me of peanut butter banana sandwiches so if you're a fan you might like their current seasonal flavor!

I got a cappuccino and pumpkin cheesecake. The set up is a bit odd in that you order in one place, pay in one place, and then pick up the coffee in another place. The cheesecake was soooo good. Had the right amount of pumpkin flavor. It didn't need the cream on top so I took that off before eating it. It also melted in your mouth.

Banana pudding 10/10!!! Chefs kiss amazing. We went back twice and looking to try and ship some across the country.

Can't go wrong with a classic. Their banana pudding is always amazing but I stay forgetting that. I get the small size and immediately regret it after two bites. Could easily demolish a large one on a good day. I also love getting the red velvet cheesecake. The size of them are perfect for sharing with someone or just for yourself. No judgement here. Get the banana pudding!!! It will change your life!! The sizes are big and honestly don't think you're going to finish it. The cupcakes are so good too! Don't be discouraged by the line , it moves fast. As you enter have someone step out and order your baked goods. That way when you get to the front you're ready. The big line is mainly for the pudding.

I was in Manhattan for a Wednesday matinee and stopped here for a snack before dinner time. There's really no place to sit inside. I splurged on my calorie budget by buying a banana pudding and a pecan caramel cheesecake. But since there were no tables, I ended up very carefully toting around my cheesecake, trying to keep it upright so it would be pretty when I got home. That was work, not fun. Also, man oh man, are the people inside the bakery over their jobs. Even at a lightly trafficked hour, they yelled - yelled! - confusing instructions about which line to get in for which treats you wanted. In this crossfire of instructions, the register where you pick up anything that isn't banana pudding is confusingly located at the beginning of the line, before the display case that shows what's on offer. The banana pudding really is yummy. Textured, sweet, balanced. A medium portion was more than enough for two servings. But overall, there's no denying that this is foremost a bakery that wants to sell you treats, and not so much about giving you an enjoyable experience.

Came here on New Years Eve and there was a small wait, but the line went really quickly. There's a separate line for other cafe items and one for just banana pudding. I was just going to pick up the large banana pudding so the process was seamless! Banana pudding was EXTREMELY delicious as well. Good bread to banana pudding ratio! It was also not as sweet as the one I got from the Los Angeles location. Will be returning when I come back to visit (:

Finally tried their banana pudding and it was pretty good. It's a small shop so they have a worker at the door ushering people in to limit amount of people in the shop. Because of this the line out the door wrapped around the corner can look intimidating but it wasn't too bad of a wait. Maybe 10 min and I started when the line was wrapped around to their exit door. They have cookies and other pastries but they're known for their banana pudding so decided to get one of those. The apple crisp pudding is seasonal so I decided to get one of those too. It was a bit sweet for my liking but still tasty. Since it's a small shop there are no tables to eat so I saw people eating on the side of the building on the sidewalk. You can also walk across the street and there are some ledges to sit on by the 1221 avenue of the america building. Enjoy!
