The 12 Best Things to Do in Natchez, Mississippi in 2025

"I visited Magnolia Bluffs Casino, which occupies the town's old mill on the Mississippi River; the mill opened in 1828 and operated until 1962 before being converted to a casino. The facility is small and a bit outdated but offers plenty of slot machines and a few table games, plus picturesque views over the river." - Matthew Kepnes

I visited jn August with my Aunt and had a great time. Loved the new machines (I hadn't been to a casino in several years). I came home a winner which made my experience so much better 😀.

While I must admit that me and my friend aren't much into the gambling scene. The food was excellent as was the service . It was Sunday evening around 8 PM , we had traveled a lot and were hungry as we hadn't eaten anything that day. With a couple places turning us down and not wanting to necessarily go to fast food we headed to check out the casino hoping maybe they had something. While there, we found out they closed at 9 and it wasn't long before that. But our server Joy, was very hospitable and seated us, never rushed us, and just overall was an excellent server ! I hope a manager sees this review and gives her a shout-out for great service!

Best fried pork chop dinner I've had in ages. Fairly loose penny slots that still let you play 1 credit per 1 penny. Bonus spins give a lot of bang for the buck if you're a conservative bettor and just like to watch the wheels go round and round. Band was due to play on a Saturday night but they weren't there. Parking is free but all down a steep hill, so be careful arriving. There is a beautiful sunset over the river here. An enjoyable evening out in the historic downtown district.

We were in town for an event for my Birthday and booked this hotel. Very nice staff, just super sweet and accommodating. The room was a bit dim and outdated but our overall stay was great. Breakfast was nice. Staff there was very pleasant as well. Would definitely stay there again.

The location is always a treat in itself. The driveway leading to the building is a downward slope in which you go under a small bridge and emerge to a view of the Mississippi River. The Playmaker Cafe has some good choices, the food and drinks are great. As far as the games, I like some of them.. The amount services buttons are annoying though because sometimes they don't work.

Google
Very happy it was smoke free! The people were nice....the machines seemed a bit older and did not appear to pay out much (just from looking around and playing a bit) but was fun to visit. If you end up with a small amount of money on your ticket they keep it so best hand ot off to someone still playing....

Google
The absolute worst casino I’ve ever been too. Dirty place. Only 1 person working the floor. Never got a drink from her. Drink at the bar was $4. I’ve never paid for a drink other than a tip. ATM machine was out of order

This is a cool little casino. The staff on the floor an in the players club were friendly. An the few slots that I visited were loose . The Restaurant should just close. I would give restaurant a two as the service a one . Go to one of other restaurants in town for food. The food was fine the service , well bad and slow . Over one and a half hour dining experience. I will go back but four go the restaurant. Spent most of my time in the restaurant instead of on the casino floor.

Yelp
Not much of a view of the River as stated. The front desk is not friendly at all and never greets anyone. The shower head was so loose and coming out of the wall and the rooms need updating. Research better hotels in the area.

Yelp
We have never won anything from this place. I miss the other casino that was down there. The old Isle of Capri. It was always a wonderful place to play and win a little. And since when do casinos close? Everyone of the casinos we frequent are open 24/7. Just saying

Yelp
Although it was difficult to park a truck camper at this place, we were having fun. Then, when it was time to leave we each had an unopened bottle of water in our hands and were ABRUPTLY STOPPED at the door and told we could not leave with these "drinks"!! It was WATER!!! So we won't be back at this establishment! Just don't go there!

Yelp
Been waiting 30min to cash my sports book ticket while the cashier stands and talks with some guy. It's 10:30p went and asked her if I could cash my ticket she said she had some stuff to do and like 5min she could. Finally a while later she went back behind the cashier counter and took my ticket and disappeared with it for prob 1-2 min. Enough time I would start to get worried. Got my payout about 35-40min after I started waiting with no one in line. Yea that's what this place is.

Yelp
This is probably the most out of date casino I have ever been to. The machines are old style. No electronic machines and the old fashion slots they do have, don't pay at all. I was soooooo disappointed!!! It wasn't even worth getting a card!!!! I guess you don't know till you go unless you can find a review like this. We stayed a couple of hours and won't ever be back again!!! A total waste of time and money!!!!!!

Yelp
Very unimpressive. We went over to have lunch at the Bandsaw Buffet and play a few slots. Without a doubt, this was the worst smelling casino I've ever been to. The whole place reeked of cigarette smoke. I've been in casinos in many different places and they all smell like smoke but I've never experienced one this bad. We made it from the front door to the buffet but immediately turned around and left. None of us could handle the level of cigarette smoke. I totally understand that gambling, drinking and smoking tend go together but the least they can do is put in a decent smoke elimination system. I have a feeling that most of the patrons live within an hour of this casino as I can't see it ever attracting out of town repeat business. There are too many better casinos to spend your time.

Elnora H.

Yelp
The food was ok. I never heard of a casino closing every night than reopening at 10am the next morning. That was a first and last visit for me.

Yelp
2 stars is pushing it for This review. This is my 3rd time actively gaming at this location, yet my First post of said Casino. The 2 previous visits, the staff was wonderful, smiling & accommodating. Easily 4+. This visit, I couldn't Even obtain a Beverage Whilst Gaming, & Losing, AT the Bar! At 530ish is the afternoon, it's NOT busy & the staff prefer to stare & gaze At the customers as though We Are the Attraction... I guess in Many ways, we ARE....

Yelp
please save your time head on down to baton rouge if you looking to gamble an have a good time. magnoli bluff casino is soooo boring. the music they play is old an outdated you feel as if its the 70s or worse. its not a fun place to visit slots are tight the employees all look as if they hate their jobs. please dont order a cocktail you may get a generic form of beer whiskey or wine. its one of the worst casino exsperiences ive ever had. i dont know who the owners are but surely you give the citizens of natchez a better gamung exsperience. u owners need to step it wayy up or float your generic casino on down the river. we maybe a small town but hey we not 40 yrs behind the time. youf casino is wayyy behind the times. will never visit magnoli bluff again. pack up get out of dodge terrible casino

Yelp
Buffet: I give it a 3 the food not very good, it's all heated food, they are a Seafood buffet on the Mississippi River and you serve frozen shrimp.... Staff: amazing so friendly and so fun...the staff saved you from a 1 star...

Yelp
Not as many gaming choices as some casinos but not bad for a small casino. The Bandsaw Buffet is also okay for a small casino. The staff was courteous but drink service is almost non existent. We went several times over our four day stay in that area and enjoyed our time there. One of the days, almost half the machines were down due to a recent power surge. They could work on cleaning the machines. A lot of the buttons were sticking due to being dirty.

Yelp
Worst casino experience of my life. RUDE employees. Slow service. Crappy slots. Dirty disgusting casino. I would never spend a dime in this place. Ordered food at "the bistro" and it took almost an hour to get a basket of chicken strips!!! employeees didn't care!!!

Yelp
All together the way experience wasn't bad but I expected a little more. I think there should be more waitresses on the floor as well as the ventilation system could be better especially because it I'd a smoking establishment! There is just a lack of excitement in the place all together! When I walk in I want to feel like I'm going to win! The 3 stars came from the waitress and her great attitude. The staff as a whole that I met was awesome,I just think the set up could be better!

Yelp
Giving this casino a 2 is being extremely generous, a majority of the slots had their call for help lights blinking with seemingly no one answering them.!! To give you an first hand example my wife had a problem with the slot machine she was playing, pushed the help button and of course no one showed up. She saw a person cleaning and asked her for help. The person came back after while and told us there would be someone coming to help. After waiting at least half an hour we got tired of waiting so we left with the machine still owing her money. She decided it wasn't worth our trouble waiting since no one at the casino was going to show up or concerned with customer service. Also this casinos first time player incentive is terrible, it would only work if you played for hours to receive anything, and at the rate of waiting for any service is an example of their service again it wouldn't be worth our while. We have no plans on returning to this casino, in my opinion its just like their slots reliability, the customer service is a zero.

Charlie P.

Yelp
What a mess they have been closed like most places have. Here is the real story $300 into 3 different slot machines. Betting from $2.50 to $4.00 per pull. Never won anything above what my bet was. Not one time! One slot I put in $100 bet $2.50 per pull and did not win one time in 40 pulls. Just sad that they have adjusted these games so much that people can not even have some fun. I don't ever think I am going to win but if you can't even get some form of entertainment out of it then why go. I am in town for two weeks and planed to spend three or four days with a trip to the casino but now I will just keep the cash and find other ways to have fun.

Yelp
My one visit was too early in the morning to try the buffet. Everything was new and clean and modern and the staff was courteous. The reason I don't go back is because of its location on a steep cliff. I was frightened that even though I made it down the hill and into the covered garage that my little car would never make it back up. Worse yet I actually got stuck behind a large truck with a similar problem. It was scary. I heard that there is now local shuttle service to Magnolia Bluffs so if I can find it I will visit again someday. Location aside, it was a nice place to play.

Yelp
We just got back today from a 2 day getaway. I read the reviews on here and had set myself up for the worse casino ever...thankfully, that is NOT what we found. If penny slots is what you want, they have tons! Many of them you can do all lines a 1x bet for twenty cents. Or thirty or forty. It's not the "minimum bet fifty cent" that we saw on other posts. Getting a drink was so easy, in fact I was having to drive I a bit faster because they were so fast at bringing them to you once you ordered. And yes it was free, beet on draft and mixed drinks. It was clean, the workers were the kindest most accommodating I have ever had in a casino, and lastly...those were the loosest slots I've ever played on. My husband and I gamble about 3-4 times a year around Louisiana. Sure they are larger casinos, but we always leave with less than we came. But not here. We hit on so many machines, and not small amounts. They have a great variety of all the ones you'd expect to see everywhere else. We won enough to pay for our whole trip, and can't wait to go back soon! Truly an enjoyable experience! And walk out on the back pier and look out at the Mississippi. It's got a beautiful view!

Connie C.

Yelp
The service in the casino was poor at first, we were there for 7 hours. The employees are rude until they know you are a tipper. I'm from Las Vegas and work in the industry. It was my sister and I coming from New Orleans taking a road trip. I totally suggest everyone from out of town stay away from their hotel. We are hockey fans, and being in the play offs for the Stanley Cup I asked the bartender at the hotel if he knew what the score was. I was told by a customer at the bar You Crackers from up North want to come here and talk Hockey. I was called a cracker, POS and other things. The bartender was right in there too. We are middle aged women just enjoying ourselves on a road trip but I would stay away from this place.

Yelp
Visited this place today because it was close to where my river boat cruise was docking for the day. Like the other review mentioned, it is at the bottom of a steep hill close to the Mississippi River, but if I was driving I would not find the hill all that intimidating as the other review mentioned... having lived in the Bay Area and dealt with driving in San Francisco, this hill to the casino was pretty mellow in comparison. In any event, there are several signs hung on lamp posts on the way down the hill trumpeting they have the loosest slots in town. Well, okay, I think they are the only casino in town, so I guess that means they also have the tightest slots in town. I found their slots to be a little miserly and I wouldn't call them loose, but $20 was enough to play a couple of hours so as far as I was concerned it offered a good return on entertainment value. The beer was free and if you are a first timer and sign up for their player card, you get a $10 credit on the card. Be careful which machine you pick to use that $10 credit, because you have to play it out on that machine. It doesn't stay on your card, that $10 gets transferred to that machine and you can't cash it out (unless you win) so pick a machine that you like and want to play on, unlike me who just picked the first machine that would activate the credit and then I found the game not too interesting. While the slots were not particularly loose, the casino seems generous with the awards you get on the player card. I qualified for a free buffet after my couple of hours of playing, and I was only recycling the same $20 so I certainly was not a big spender. I also did not use my free buffet opportunity so I couldn't tell you how the food was, but it was nice to feel like I earned a perk right off the bat. The staff is all very friendly, the place is clean and the shuttle is free and it seems to take you where you want to go (within reason). To use the shuttle, go to the security desk and ask. I found the selection of machines to be somewhat redundant and too many of the same type of machine, so if certain types of slot machines aren't to your liking, you might not like this casino. It is perfectly adequate to spend an afternoon and I would visit again if I am in town. The view around the casino is pretty nice, so while you are trekking up and down that steep hill, take a look around at the mighty Mississippi and the beautiful little town of Nachez.

Yelp
Wonderful! Best casino in town! Friendly ( as they should be! ) with some good seafood buffet on fri and sat night.

Yelp
This casino is awesome now and it is apparent they are looking to get even better and better. They bought The Isle of Capri and renovated it and now it is called the Magnolia Bluffs Hotel and it is awesome! I heard they are just starting on a 160,000,000 project in Gulfport which will be a third casino. In a few weeks they are going to be the first casino to offer Casino Over Under. That game is easy to play and the pace is like nothing I have ever seen. There was an app out for awhile but the real game is being offered at Magnolia Bluffs in Natchez sometime in April!!!

Michael I.

Yelp
Starting off, not only did just a single bartender come to serve the 1 blackjack table open in the entire casino only once. Within 20 minutes of walking up and betting a substantial amount of money on the table, the bartender informed the pittboss that the entire table was cut off. So I offered to pay the bartender for my drink and the pit boss tells me that the only blackjack table is cut off. Then I offer the Pitt boss to pay for my drink since I had I only been present for under 10 mins and she says "idc how much money is on the table, no one else gets drinks." VISIT AT YOUR OWN CAUTION. NO COURTESY WHATSOVER. Worst table service I have ever experienced at a hotel or casino. WORST BAR/DRINK SERVICE EVER EXPERIENCED AT A CASINO. NO RESPECT FOR PLAYERS IN THE SLIGHTEST

M S.

Yelp
This place is awful. Went with my husband who was gambling. We were trying to get a drink at the bar but they completely ignored us. My husband finally went around to the other side of the bar and ordered two drinks, one for him and one for me. They told him he couldn't have two drinks and he was like it is for my wife on the other side of the bar and so the bartender literally took the drink and brought it over to me with an attitude. Never have I ever experienced anything like THAT in my life... Was she trying to get seperate tips??? So weird. He went to gamble and I waited at the bar but they continued to ignore me and never asked if I needed another drink. I was drinking crown and coke. not cheap stuff. They lost quite a bit in tips and drinks that night. I have NEVER FELT like I was NOT WELCOME in any other casino like I was in this one. The pit boss glared at me the entire time... Needless to say, we left within a 1/2 hour of arriving. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CASINO!

Josh M.

Yelp
Your casino is TRASH. Was in town working on business and decided to come in for the buffet Wednesday night 8/21/19. Worst decision of my day with the little amount of food to choose from it was almost as if you ordered wings from Krystal's and heated them up on your buffet bar. Terrible. Later that night played a few games in the Casino and played some money in the sports betting room. They let me know it would not be a problem to come in the following morning that someone from the Casino cashiers office could give me my payout if I won. Showing up the morning of 8/22/19 out of 20 employees working not a single person including supervisors had logins to work any payouts. Again this Casino is pure TRASH, do not waste your time or money here as not a single person working has the competency to complete simply tasks that should be trained during the orientation process of being hired here. Take your money and have fun elsewhere.
