Stayed in this town for a few days and decided to try out this nice restaurant. Let’s just say we were not disappointed. If you find yourself in this area, whether staying or passing by, this place is a must go to. The spicy shrimp po’boy was delightful. The bread was great and light. The shrimp was well seasoned and had a nice little kick to it. Dish was also served with a pickle which was a nice touch. We also go a fried crawfish salad which hit the spot. The crawfish was fried and full of flavor. The staff were friendly and really helpful. Definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for some good food and nice atmosphere.

Nice little place to have lunch in St. Francisville. The food is very reasonably priced and quite tasty. I had the Mag Burger and can highly recommend it. We will be back.

We had a really good meal at the Magnolia Cafe and Saint Francisville, LA. The restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside and has several dining and drinking areas. The menu was varied, with several choices. The service was good and the food was very good. The decor of the restaurant is nice and it is in a very good setting.

Google
Stop by with a party of five today and everyone loved the food. My wife and I both had the specials, steak and fish. All flavors were amazing. The only thing that I could criticize is my medium steak was well done but still juicy tender and delicious. Was a bit pricey for four people and a 4-year-old at lunch time. A little over $90.

We found this cafe on our way home from Baton Rouge. It is definitely a little diamond in the rough. We must’ve gotten there at the peek of lunch rush because it was packed. Despite the busyness, the staff were very attentive to us; and the environment was clean and lively. For lunch we got the Spicy Shrimp Poboy and the French Dip Poboy. They were immaculate. They were both rich and the heat of the Shrimp Poboy was just right.

Stopped by for lunch on the road. There was a good crowd for a Sunday lunch time but the service was excellent and the food was as well. I had the French Dip poboy which was very good and the girlfriend had Chicken Quesadillas which we both tried and they were excellent. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. This place is recommended by us for sure.

Google
I recently had the soup & salad-you choose your soup & your salad! The Famous turkey special is really good! I get it on a pita. It has sprouts on it, which I’ve never had bf, but loved it! Their sensation salad dressing is really good as well. They also sell it by the bottle. The Magnolia chicken sandwich is a favorite too. The bleusy chicken salad is wonderful, if you like blue cheese.

Google
1 side doesn’t have AC, Dr. Pepper was flat, menu said “Chicken Quesadillas” as in plural. It was one Tortilla cut into 4 pieces . Took 40 minutes just to get an order for 1 . $22 total for the WORST service & food. Atmosphere? Where cause I was sweating the entire time. Never going back

Yelp
Perfect little gem in town, food and service is a 10/10! Katie made a wonderful suggestion for food and my lunch was fabulous because of her. Thank you magnolia

Yelp
I cannot believe it has taken me so long to finally review this place. Magnolia Cafe has been one of my go to spots since moving to this area in 2015. I've taken family and friends to visit and each time we've had good, friendly service and even better food. The restaurant is homey and has a quaint local vibe. If you are ever in the area in search of a good local option-you can't go wrong with this cafe.

Yelp
The Magnolia Cafe is a Saint Francisville institution! I've been eating here since the 1990s. They are conveniently located at the "Y" in Saint Francisville itself, but this is only a short distance off US Highway 61, so travelers can easily drop in then get back on the road. It's in a historic building that has lots of character, and they even have historic motor hotel cabins for rent. The Mag (as it's called) has classic Louisiana fare, and some great sandwich options. I frequently get a sandwich and soup (which is very cost effective). They also have a great selection of salads, including the locally popular Sensation Salad! There are a number of great desserts on offer depending on the day. One just needs to ask what the options are.

Yelp
We came here with the kids and the puppy and they had a cute outdoor area. The service was ok. And the place was really clean! I got the nachos and they were so freaking good. The alligator bites were also pretty good. Everyone ordered sandwiches and they looked good as well. I would come back again and order different things!

Amy C.

Yelp
Turkey special 10/10! And the grilled veggies were so good. I would definitely recommend.

Laura S.

Yelp
Went for Sunday lunch and the place was super crowded. Food was worth the wait.Everyone enjoyed their food-no complaints.

Andi F.

Yelp
What a lovely restaurant. They were busy when I stopped in. I got the pizza with chicken and pesto sauce. It was lovely. Located on what seems to be the main street of St Francisville next to a cute little hotel. Employees are busy hustling.

Russell D.

Yelp
My sister and I are visiting family in Louisiana and stopped in Saint Francisville for lunch. A friend recommended the magnolia café So we tried it today . I had a shrimp Poboy my sister had a large salad with chicken both Entrées were outstanding . The "sweet tea" was perfect and our server was great - friendly & efficient . I can't say enough about this restaurant highly recommended . One thing I need to mention and I've only seen it at one other restaurant .Magnolia charges a 4% addition to your bill if you pay by credit card not cash. The amount is small but annoying . I believe that a restaurant should assume the fee that they pay to a credit card company as part of doing business.

Dora G.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal and the service was wonderful. We had the roast beef au jus sandwich, guacamole and a chicken salad. We were enjoying catching up and visiting and did not pay enough attention to our bill. Later when comparing our copies we discovered a charge of $3.00 that was not on the first receipt for our meal. We are assuming it was a credit card fee or an up charge to cover increased costs. Whatever it is - patrons should be advised of it in advance.

Bobby L.

Yelp
Went for a weekday lunch. Ordered a loaded pizza. Let me start by saying I'm in the belief that there is no such thing as bad pizza. Even "bad" pizza is good pizza. I even like a Tostitos now and again, ball park, Sam's, street vendor, gas station. I've had good pizza a lot of places. This pizza, fine. It was eatable but beyond that I'd be hard to find a compliment. Pizza sauce I would venture to say was tomato paste and I'd but good money on it. Very little flavor to the cheese and toppings. Was cooked just enough not to be undercooked. Again, pizza is just one of those foods that almost can't be messed up but this one was as close to that line as it could be. Test of food might be fine but just don't order the pizza.

Suzonne A.

Yelp
Food is always delicious, service OK, quaint lil house...Have eaten there many times through the years, never disappointed!

Theresa E.

Yelp
Food good but price a little high! Service great and neat place off the beaten tract to eat

Leah W.

Yelp
I ate all of the food so there's no picture. Turkey pita and cookies were recommended and did not disappoint. Very popular so very busy. Closed on Mondays

Elisha C.

Yelp
I was so excited to go eat here again after so many years away. I'm happy to say they didn't disappoint. I love there sensation salad and roast beef po'boy. A town favorite that has survived many years in a fickle town and industry. Such a cool and funky ambience too.

Kyle D.

Yelp
1st time at this little spot. I was pretty cool. I dug the inside. Very cozy. I split the sandwich of the magnolia and spicy shrimp. Both good. The service was also great

Kathleen J.

Yelp
I had the soup and half sandwich for lunch today. The French Dip Sandwich was absolutely awesome. The bread was perfection and the sandwich itself very tasty. I will definitely get this again. I had the chicken and corn bisque with it. It almost tasted a bit scorched. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I have pretty much anything else I have had her. It had an odd flavor to it I didn't really care for. The sandwich made up for it though! Aubrey was our waitress. She was very cordial and friendly and made sure we had anything we needed!

Brad B.

Yelp
I've been coming here since high school. The food never disappoints me and I love the the Turkey special on pita.

Billy R.

Yelp
What a find here guys, the place was packed and the staff was amazing and the food was spectacular. The sweet tea is the real deal, and we ordered the pizza and it came out perfect. The flavor would rivial any pizza joint. The menu is broad with many options. Of you are local you have a prize here if you are visiting please don't miss the opportunity.

Donna L.

Yelp
Food is excellent! Love the atmosphere & the music on the weekend. We were there in July 2015 & August 2015. We came back in August 2018. Wonderful place!

Brandy P.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch after hiking nearby. Ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. Highly recommend! We both ordered the special of the day which was a grilled redfish topped with a mushroom cream sauce. It was served with steamed veggies, garlic bread, and a side salad. I got the sensation side salad and it was delicious. The redfish was grilled to perfection. This was my first time here but I will definitely be back for more.

Lorie H.

Yelp
Very nice staff. Really special food. Rustic dinning environment. Parking is terrible.

David R.

Yelp
By far one of the best restaurants in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. I wish they had later open hours during the week!

Victoria M.

Yelp
The magnolia cafe was so cute and the food was delicious. I had the magnolia chicken sandy that was AWESOME! We also shared some spin dip that was amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Chuck B.

Yelp
No so good anymore Long wait to get acknowledged, long wait for the food, A runner dropped my salad off at the wrong table, didn't even wait for the customer to say it's the wrong table. The plate sat on the table for a good while, then got sent back to the kitchen for a bit, then came to my table, with the wrong dressing. You would think a grilled chicken salad should have more than 3 strips of chicken but that was all there was. So after it was under a customer talking and coughing over it I decided not to eat that. Been coming here for 20 years but it is not the same place it used to be.

Dixie B.

Yelp
Wonderful and consistently delicious. Highly recommended but so wish they would be open nights.

Karen H.

Yelp
The kids didn't like the pizza. Too much cheese. Our sandwiches were just ok. They were $14 and didn't even come with fries. The last few times we have eaten there has not been good. We won't be going back.!

Michelle D.

Yelp
Been going here since they were in the old gas station. Can get packed a certain times. They have a great sensation salad. Their pizzas are good, poboys, sandwiches, and other choices. The inside can get very packed but a great setting in an old house. Always good service and don't forget about the cookies.

Rich G.

Yelp
I had a small Sensation Salad (the one with the pepper). Their dressing is outstanding. My wife had the veggie salad with their homemade balsamic vinaigrette (really nice taste). We shared a whole Muffaletto (when in LA you must have one). Our waiter Stephen was excellent. This is a five - fun place.

Ellen K.

Yelp
Most popular place in town for lunch for well over 30 years. Good sandwiches, burgers & salads. Great staff. Funky fun porch atmosphere, charming interior.

Normon W.

Yelp
One of best gems about St Francisville I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to the mag for lunch! The atmosphere is always amazing and the patio is wonderful to sit on especially during good weather! If you're ever in St Francisville be sure to stop here and grab a bite to eat!

Glynda F.

Yelp
Love "the Mag"! The turkey special on pita with sweet potato fries is my favorite order. Excellent service and famous for its ambience.

Ma R.

Yelp
Country comfort food with good flavor, good service and friendly atmosphere. Just love the creative vintage decor and layout.

Marge S.

Yelp
Affectionately known as The Mag, this comfortable and fun Saint Francisville restaurant offers good comfort food, good salads and an experienced bartender- and that is saying a lot. The restaurant is a rambling layout with different levels and rooms. Decor is fun and funky. Good night we were here recently, there was a musician performing in the larger dining room. He played covers. You did a good job and provided a pleasant background music for the dinner, and best of all he was not overly loud like so many musicians and restaurants. We had a salad with grilled chicken and a sensation salad with chicken. Yes, there is a theme here! Trying to lose some holiday pounds. But the sellers were so good that we came back the next day and got one for a takeout for lunch. Service here is always friendly. On our last visit the young waiter was perhaps over attentive and eager to take an order when we simply wanted to have a relaxing meal and sip drinks. But the ambience here is fun and relaxing in these kinds of things are easy to overlook.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
This is a cute little restaurant in St. Francisville. They offer many different sandwiches, burgers , salads and lunch specials. The lunch prices are pretty good as well. The service was good even though they were pretty busy. The food was okay I ordered the hamburger steak with sensation salad and fries. The hamburger steak had a good flavor it was fresh , the salad was delicious but the French fries were frozen . My mom loved her hamburger she ordered. Overall we will probably come back and try out some of their lunch specials. I may try them at night since there dinner menu was more my type of food. My mom said they have a live band on weekends which is nice !

Nicky V.

Yelp
There are not many restaurants in this area. A friend recommended I stop for lunch. It was ok, a little over priced considering location, food quantity and quality. The establishment was clean with a down home rustic field.

Stacy S.

Yelp
The Magnolia Cafe is a spot we frequent on the way to my family's lake cottage or after hikes at Clark Creek. They offer a wide variety of options from Southern to TexMex. The food is always consistent. On Friday nights there is a live band and it usually draws a crowd. My favorite is the Spicy Shrimp Po-boy the shrimp are in a garlic butter with perfectly melted Pepper Jack cheese, bell pepper, onions, lettuce, and tomato on toasted French bread. So good! The wait staff here is attentive! My tea glass is always refreshed and they often check on you to make sure you are doing all right. You seat yourself here. There is an indoor area with air conditioning or an outdoor area with fans. Usually after our hikes we heat to the outdoor area to eat since we're pretty sweaty. Everyone seems welcome here! If you're in the area be sure to stop in.

Fred H.

Yelp
We were finally able to stop in and try this place. When they are open, they are packed! For such a small locale, you would wonder how all the cars are able to fit in there. It's obviously a popular place, maybe the locals, but this small town also seems like a popular place for tourists. The outside is not inviting at all. If it wasn't for the neon "open" sign, you wouldn't know it was a cafe. The side of the building advertises a hair salon. Going in, it's definitely a "dated" building. I'd say it used to be a house. The decor is basic. Walls decorated with overpriced "print" art. The interior itself needs repair, peeling wall paint, holes in the acoustic ceiling tiles. Service was slow and when you did get it, it was rush rush rush. Our server was zipping about so much, she was unable to actually be a server. That even possible? Anyway, we did get our food and limited service. We both had the hamburger steak. Nothing on the menu said "try me". It was basic stuff that we have had so many times ". The menus were old and falling apart. I expected a more exciting experience since the menu , more than once, lay claim to "world famous" and "our famous", but alas, disappointment found me waiting for it.

Heidi M.

Yelp
I flat out love this place. We don't get here as often as I'd like to, but it's always one of the first places I think of if we are going to St. Francisville for lunch or dinner. It's tucked back off the road a bit, but it seems to always be busy. This place has an eclectic environment with an electric vibe. On the weekends, there is often live music and a great time is always had. The food has ALWAYS been great, and I can even find good meatless choices there (I have had chicken options and they are wonderful too!). This is a must on your SF dining route!

Jill M.

Yelp
Cute and quaint!! Tucked away in the heart of sweet St. Francisville! Just sandwiches and such but wonderful service and the food is good!! Walking distance to everything you need to see. Lovely!!

Miles H.

Yelp
Love the Mag! A Saint Francisville institution. Love their Sensation dressing, guacamole dippers, French dip & BLT Magnolia Style. Ps. Bring back Friday night music, Mary! Lol

Paul P.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere! Stopped here passing through and wanted something local. Our table tried multiple things and all were good. French dip poboy was one of the best I've ever had! Don't forget dessert! It's totally worth it.

Steve I.

Yelp
Casual family-friendly restaurant. Super-friendly service, good food, and had a nice country feel to it. I went here this past Tuesday for lunch with a friend. My friend ordered the Chicken Florentine sandwich served on french bread (chicken, spinach, dijon mustard, and pepper cheese). I ordered the soft-shell crab with garlic mashed potatoes. $8 for the sandwich. $22 for the soft-shell plate. Kind of pricey for what you get on the soft-shell plate. My friend enjoyed her sandwich and my food was rather appetizing! Our waitress was so sweet and really enjoyed chatting with us. She was also very attentive to all of her other customers in the midst of all this chattiness. Bonus star for the service! Will be back next time in St Francisville.

Angie T.

Yelp
Magnolia Cafe is a casual and unpretentious little restaurant with friendly service in beautiful St. Francisville. While in the area recently we stopped in for lunch. We chose to start with the Fried Alligator Bites. Score!! These are sooo delicious. They come with a dipping sauce that is mayo based (I believe) and it was really tasty, but honestly the alligator bites were so good they could have stood alone. The next time I come here I am going to order this appetizer as my meal. For my entree I picked the Spicy Shrimp Poboy. Another winner!! Imagine this...shrimp in garlic butter with pepper jack cheese, bell pepper, onions, lettuce and tomato served on Poboy bread. Holy spicy yumminess!! If you're ever in St. Francisville do yourself a huge favor and get to Magnolia Cafe. You can thank me later.

Rose V.

Yelp
So happy to be able to have lunch at the Mag. They're closed for dinner since the pandemic, but this Louisiana gem is a wonderful place for a midday meal. Catfish is some of the best anywhere bad the sweet potato fries are worth the dollar upcharge!

Tara F.

Yelp
I was with a group of mom's and girls when we stopped here after a fun day in St Francisville. I personally enjoyed it so much, I'm trying to figure out the next time I can get out that way! Lol! Service was great. I also loved the decor and set up of the restaurant. The only thing that struck me as odd was that it was a pretty nice sized restaurant but there's only 2 single stall rest rooms (for women). I just would think there'd be more. Now let's talk about the food! I got the magnolia chicken sandwich and let's just say...OMG it was good! Grilled chicken, melted cheese, avocado, tomato, and mayo (next time I'd tell them to hold it as it was a little too much for me), on a grilled onion roll. The sandwich was sooo good! If I would've had the stomach room I would've tried to eat 2! Lol! My daughter got the pizza and that was very good as well. The others at the table all got a variation of things and no one had anything negative to say. All very enjoyable. Before we left we inquired about dessert. We were told that you can't go wrong with the cookies...and they were right! Gigantic homemade chocolate chip cookies with pecans. So scrumptious! I honestly can't wait to find a reason to get back to this town to enjoy this restaurant again.

Teresa W.

Yelp
I have ate here a few times over the years and the hamburger here is pretty good and the hamburger steaks not half bad either. So your probably wondering what's the reason for me only giving A one star review. Here's the reason I walked in today for a late lunch it was about 2 PM or a little before. As I'm standing there waiting to be seated a woman that I've seen working there many times and I'm pretty sure she is either the manager or owner, was coming from behind the counter/kitchen area fixing to leave the restaurant when she told the girls behind the counter that she was already in her car hahaha and they could go ahead and SPIT in the food..must of been a complaining customer's plate no doubt ! Then the woman that gave them permission to spit in someone's food left. She was a brown haired woman in or around 40 something I'd say left. The girls behind the counter were laughing and saying O.K she said we could spit in the food ! Well I don't know about you guys but the words " you can spit it their food " are words that tell me I don't want to eat there, I turned around and exited the restaurant and got in my car.. never gonna go back I'm feeling sick from all the times that I have ate there. Omg

Colleen O.

Yelp
We were looking forward to magnolia cafe due to several recommendations and Yelp reviews. The cafe was cute and looked like an old fish camp with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of tables with rustic feel. Our lunch was fair. I had the Famous Turkey Sandwich on po boy bread. It had heavy mayonnaise that seemed to mask what might have been a good sandwich of slicked turkey, lettuce, tomato, and guac. My husband had the Famous Bacon Cheese burger, dressed as above and just as fair. He did order the gumbo stating "it was really good", meh. Service was good and friendly, our food came out quickly. Our waitress was sweet and knowledgeable of the area.

Vic M.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Great service. Fair prices. Fried shrimp Po-boy had a lot of good shrimp. The bread and shrimp together didn't do it for (maybe just my taste buds). Muffaletto sandwich was good. Fries that came with the po-boy sandwiches seemed dry. I'm not sure if it was due to quality of the potatos or that had been sitting for a while. No beers on tap :-( They have pizza and even good looking Mexican food on the menu

Gage B.

Yelp
Magnolia Cafe was amazing. I had the French dip po boy and my girlfriend had the shrimp po boy. We shared the alligator bites. The food was beyond expectation. One bite into the shrimp on that po boy and you knew someone could cook. The alligator bites came out after our po boys despite it being an appetizer but it didn't matter. There was one mix up in the kitchen that was very quickly remedied and then followed up on by the waitress. She was also amazing. I highly recommend this place. Five stars well deserved even with that one mix up.
