Bars and Nightlife in Dallas-Fort Worth

"You come for the drinks and laid-back, intimate vibe and stay for the music. With live music talent every weekend, and some weekdays, Magnolia Motor Lounge is a great place to grab a drink and take in a show. There’s good prices and drink specials. If you get hungry, try some of the homemade bar food. I recommend the dip strips, which are hand-breaded fried bacon strips with magnolia sauce." - MATADOR_NETWORK

We went to see Lily Hiatt and had a great time. The acoustics in the club were great and the bartenders were very friendly.

Kurt

Google
Nice place clean and comfortable. Great beers on tap. Good sound for the band.

Colleen

Google
Mac was amazing! Very patient and attentive. Explained everything the bar/venue offers, made us great drinks, and gave great hugs (which i believe are a lost formality when we're willing to shake hands with others, and for the rexord...he was totally forced into said hug.) Will definitely be back due to Mac's accommodating and welcome g sercive.

Google
Great spot for live music! We can hear for the Ellis Bullard show and it was amazing. Attentive bartenders and they have a patio area out front. Security was present.

Google
Local bar with live music. Friendly bartenders and friendly patrons. Can sit outside during breaks. Great blues band tonight and the Dallas hockey game on the TV. What more could you want. No food, but you can bring food in.

Google
Small bar with good vibes. I left before the live music started up, so I can't speak on the acoustics in such a small place. Drinks were on the expensive side, but it is what it is. This bar has a home town feeling and such a stark contrast between the inside and outside of the building.

Google
This lounge has great acoustic sound and is always a good spot to see your friends.

I went on a fairly quiet night but it was a cool vibe

Yelp
Intimate music venue for up and coming acts. Great vibe for Texas style and feel. Located way on the west side of Fort Worth, you get plenty of free parking in this unassuming strip lot. Staff are considerate. You can buy tix ahead of time but the fees are ridiculous. You can pay cash at the door. Standing space or tables. If you come before the act you can even order in food. They have a pretty full bar and standard pricing. Fairly clean bathrooms. Sound quality for stage is ok. Summary is this is a good location, open floor plan and great to see music.

Yelp
Finally went to the new location for a show and loved it. I enjoyed being able to play pool while we waited for the music.

Yelp
What a great venue. The place was clean throughout. The staff - everyone friendly and helpful. My friends were so thankful a food truck came as we all needed to take a breath and eat dinner. That is the one thing to know- you can bring food in to eat or you can wait for food truck at 8pm. I would highly suggest if you want a nice place to go with plenty of parking , this is your place. We went and saw the band Legacy 4- dang they are AWESOME. On a side note: One of the employees looks like Mike Myers from Wayne's World. Seriously.

Yelp
I prefer the old location because it felt more spacious and had a much nicer patio area. Though the new location isn't quite as nice, it does have easier parking, being part of a small shopping center in a less popular area. And Magnolia Motor Lounge is still serving up live music on a regular basis and still appears to get a similar decent crowd the couple of times I've been to the new location. Though they have a full bar, there's not a huge beer or cocktail selection -- they seem to prefer to keep their offerings more on the straightforward, basic end.

Yelp
Nice venue for some live music. My only issue is the night I went it was packed because of the popular band. The restrooms are behind the stage and it was hectic getting to them as people wouldn't move over. Other than that, I like that it has indoor/ outdoor space and it's got good seating as well.

Kindyle L.

Yelp
Fun bar with great service. Love the live music and location. Cant wait for next time.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Thursday. It is a smaller place with about 12 tables and a bar. It is very clean and has a small stage. The bartender/server greeted us with a smile upon entry. We ordered the chips - salsa and queso, pulled pork taco, and pulled pork sandwich. The chips were fresh, hot, and delicious! The salsa and queso were very tasty. The pulled pork was delicious!!! Both sandwich and the taco had a lot of pork. She really enjoyed the taco. I loved the sandwich! It had coleslaw already in the sandwich. The BBQ sauce was sweet and spicy, just like I like it. I had French fries with my order and they were hot and crispy. We really enjoyed lunch and will be back for sure. The special of the day was pot roast. Based on how delicious the food was off the menu, we are excited to try the specials!

Yelp
I came with a friend for a glass of wine, she's a regular here so I thought it would be great. Um it was more of a 3 1/2 but let's be giving on this one, it is a bar haha. Let's start with the perks.. I had a burger, no bun it was a melt in your mouth kinda burger!! I literally couldn't stop eating till I was stuffed! They have wine but only a Cabernet that's on tap and chilled (what is that about) , Merlot and a Malbec as for reds. Sounds about right for a little dive bar so can't complain there. (Chilled Cabernet on tap still weird) Live music was great as well, don't recall her name but she was really good. I found myself turning around several times to watch her when she sang certain songs. I don't really care much for live bands. Ok... that's a lie, truth be told, I didn't care much for live bands until I came back to Texas!!! Door guy was cool, even warned me about some guys I should watch out for. Ok the down side... Bartender who I may have been a manager or something was clearly not happy when we first arrived, he was a little better before I left but I almost left my friend there when I was ordering my wine. He was giving us "those" why are you here looks..... Cheap wine that costs to much and tasted blah... Oh and the bathroom.... door in right doesn't lock but you sure have enough trashy comments written on the walls. I'll only go back to meet my friend because she clearly like it.

Yelp
Found this place and visited last night. It was a Sunday night. They had a blues band playing. The music was great. There was only one guy work in the whole place. When we first came in we asked him can we sit anywhere he said sure just let me know when you want another round and I'll take care of you, when we finally got his attention, he said I can't help you again because it's too busy you'll have to come to the bar other than that and the lack of food for sale was a fairly decent, but small place
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
Good place to see local acts or smaller regional type bands, mainly Texas or red dirt country and sometimes blues band. Not a lot of seating and it can get really crowded for popular acts. Staff friendly and the drinks are not really overpriced, when compared to other venues.
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
If you like paying for ice and getting your Jager Bomb made wrong come here. Music was the best thing. Drinks are sub par.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
I will forever look at bacon differently since trying the breaded and fried bacon strips here ("Dip Sticks"). Boom! The Magnolia sauce paired perfectly with them. The Magnolia Custom burger here is still a good burger, although it just didn't leave me with a "wow-factor" as before, but did leave me with a very full stomach. This burger is above average in taste and well-above average in size. Great bun, and the fried egg was cooked perfectly and was nice and runny. The skinny fries were fairly fresh and crisp. Great service. Small, subdued lunch crowd this Friday and that was just fine with me.

Yelp
they learn your face and your name so fast! the bartenders and the guy at the door are so sweet and kind!! the drinks aren't too strong (if you use the straw they provide.... just make sure you stir before you sip). We went to go see chattahoochie play, but i'll definitely will go visit no matter who is playing, it's a cute dive bar and they're so personable. 12/10!!!

Yelp
Dean Dillon performance last night, once in a life-time event. Intimate venue, incredible artist, great bourbon selection. Makes me want to go watch his documentary Tennessee Whiskey again. He's written more than 70 George Strait songs, many for Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, etc. And he played to the crowd like he would in his living room.

Yelp
Service was awesome, bartenders were friendly, food was great, music was excellent. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Best live music in town! You never know who will pull through and play a song or two at MML, definitely a spot worth checking out, that has great food too!
google avatar

Shannon G.

Yelp
Great place!!! The atmosphere was incredible! We had the garage queso which was queso on steroids with pogo de Gallo, grilled onions, jalapeños, pulled pork etc.... I ordered the junk yard dog and my husband ordered the mag melt. My junkyard dog was a battered and fried dog on a bun with chili queso, jalapeños, onions, mustard, And just goodness. It was the best hot dog I have ever had. The Mag melt was like a patty melt and incredible. The live music was very entertaining! Skylar Payne was ahhhMazing! The artists were extremely talented. Will go back for sure!

Yelp
I have been to MML several times for happy hour, but for some reason, I just never made around to trying their food. I was finally able to try out only recently. Looking at the menu, I think you almost have to order one of their awesome burgers, but since I had actually had a few burgers earlier in the week, I decided to go with the Grand Prix, one of their chicken sandwiches. I did feel I was committing a mancard violation by not ordering one of the many seemingly delectable burgers, but the Grand Prix's awesomeness helped to assuage any worries I had. The Grand Prix comes with Grilled Chicken Breast, Pastrami, Pepper Jack Cheese, Roasted Red Peepers, Spicy Magnolia Sauce all on a nice, square, doughy bun. I must say, this is probably one of the best, if not the best chicken sandwich to be had in Fort Worth. If the aforementioned ingredients are not enough to make your stomach growl, the chicken breast itself had an awesome flavor to it, either to their marinade or rub or both. Another thing I really liked that, to me, was the linchpin of this great experience was the bun. I do like how MML and a few other places are featuring a larger bun that is extremely soft and tasty (think Dutch's, just without the Hawaiian sweetbread flavor). It allows you to eat an extremely large/burger sandwich, without it falling apart or its ingredients falling on you. Just delicious and the greasy fries were great as well. My brother ordered the Magnolia custom, which looked simply awesome as well and I think for my next trip around, I will be getting that too, since I have yet to try one of their burgers. However, if you must digress from the burger side of the menu, the Grand Prix is a nice avenue to go on, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Loved this place!! Went for my besties engagement party and it was so fun!!!!! Drinks are good

Yelp
Best drinks, bartenders, wait staff, MUSIC and FOOD! My "go to place" in Fort Worth. Tried to eat at a popular taco place around the corner with my family and NO parking for 2 blocks and a line of people 50 feet long...I remembered my Magnolia family and guess what, free parking & plenty of it up front and Best dang food in the Fort & no hassle about having my kids in there to eat. Hugged the owners bye after introducing my new family. Always great music line up thanks to Brian and just the classiest joint in the whole area! PS 11:30pm and i smell amazing coffee brewing, "Can i have a cup of that Pawpaw coffee?" Of course, said the waitress, Best cup Of fresh brew i ever had from a "bar" and they wouldn't even charge me for it!

Yelp
GREAT FOOD. GREAT MUSIC. Does it get any better? Probably the best chips and queso in West 7th... and you should definitely try the Mag Melt (their version of a patty melt). No complaints and I've been here quite a few times. They also have really great bands every weekend for a fair cover charge.

Larry Glen H.

Yelp
Horrible new venue. The last place was small and this one is even smaller. $20 cover to see a ban and there is a TOTAL of 8 tables in the ENTIRE bar. If no tables the least you could expect is a bar to lean against and there's not even that. I hope they correct this but I won't ever be back.

Yelp
The Women's bathroom needs much improvement!very unsanitary to see the toilet corroded.

Yelp
Establishments of West 7th Street: let me be perfectly clear, I will not patronize your establishment again if I am inside your restaurant/bar/lounge and I am approached by someone asking for money. This happened to me at Magnolia Motor Lounge on Sunday, July 15 and has happend at nearly other food and beverage establishment on W. 7th and I will not return until the owners, managers, city, and FW Police address this problem. Now onto my review: This is nice little grunge/garage type music/bar lounge. The waitress was quite attentive and regularly asked us if we needed another drink. Their draft selection was adequate but didn't have any of my favorites. The ambience does get VERY LOUD, so be prepared for that if you are trying to have a conversation. Some of the patrons can be rather obnoxious, but consider the location. There is limited parking and finding a spot can be super difficult, but if you do find one, this is a super neat little place to hang out and grab a drink and listen to some cool music. Highly recommend. But not until strangers stop begging me for money while I'm trying to kick back and spend time with my friends.

Yelp
Stumbled upon here on my bar crawl of Fort Worth during some free time during a work conference. This bar was by far my favorite. I loved the dive-y feel to it on a Tuesday night. They have a great selection of craft beers, and since I was from out of state the bartender recommended Texas exclusive craft beers, which I really appreciated. Then to my surprise there was a band that night! I think it was the Charlie Schafter band. Their acoustic covers all night were everything what I wanted to hear on a cold winter night. If I'm ever back in town I'm definitely coming back to this bar!
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure what I could say that hasn't already been said. But it's a great venue with really great sound. I like that it's a smaller place bc I like more intimate shows. The food was very foodie. We had the club and the queso. The club and fries were very good. The queso taste very good but it was very thick w toppings and not much like queso IMO. The chips are made in house and were hot and delicious. Overall a pretty awesome place to catch a show, drink and eat. Menu looked to have a lot foodie type bar food to choose from.

Yelp
Went to Magnolia Motor Lounge with family for my birthday. This was my second time and I was worried that the place would be packed with obnoxious college students since it was friday night. I had a great experience. It was busy but not overwhelming and the crowd was older too. Our waitress was friendly and on top of her game. She was very informative about the craft beers and helped me pick out a couple new brews that I hadn't tried before. The food was delicious as always. We started off with the quail appetizer and I had the grilled fruit salad for my main course. I wish I could frequent Magnolia Motor Lounge more often but they are a tad pricey. Still, it's ok to splurge every once in a while.

Yelp
OMG BEST RANCH IVE EVER DIPPED MY HEAD IN and I'm not talkin about the one on top But really best ranch, service, and food, friends, beer. Don't miss out!

Yelp
We rented a table for four on a Saturday night to see the cover band, Raised Right Men. Other than having to serve ourselves at the bar -- apparently our group was too small for table service -- the service was extremely polite and consistently excellent. They mostly serve burgers and bar-type food (with a few variations, i.e. chicken and dumplings) that is top-notch. The chips and queso, however, were not. The chips had little taste and were hard to chew; the queso tasted powered and was gross once it cooled off. Our biggest complaint is that they VERY laxly enforce COVID mask rules. Only about 1/2 the patrons wore them; the rest and blatantly walked about / danced freely without covering their face. I really couldn't care less if those peeps get sick; that's their business. But I do have a problem with them potentially infecting others who are more susceptible. Other than that particular issue, we would have no problem returning for dinner, drinks and music.

Yelp
Was There For An Event And I Had A Nice Surprise, On The Menu Was Chicken Fried Bacon! It Was The Only Food I Had, But It Was Really Good! They Have A Large Selection Of Drinks And A Friendly Wait Staff. They Also Have Band Playing Nightly. If You Are In The Area Stop By And Check Them Out! You Won't Be Disappointed, Especially If You Like Bacon.

Yelp
They bill themselves as featuring live music every night, and when I headed in on a rainy Monday, expecting perhaps that the place might be hopping, it wasn't. But the live music was definitely in play. If that visit is any indicator, the fulcrum on which they tend to pivot is largely the singer songwriter variety, which I happen to think is great fun. Less so the animated gal overpowering the guitars onstage with circular political chatter during the midst of the set: nevertheless, the band (in this case, really two musicians who were taking turns spinning yarns and backing each other up) kept the room warm on an evening when outside Mother Nature had the opposite in mind. It's a full bar: beer selections aren't particularly risky with a few exceptions, but the musicians were clearly comfy here, and while they were on break a drummer from another band dropped in to talk shop and catch up (actually, as I recall, they spent equal time chatting about their beards, which were, it should be noted -- exceptional. I wasn't able to stick around for the final set of the night, but I did get to chat with the musicians for a few before I had to bolt and if these guys are an indication of Ft. Worth's musical legacy, I'm amped (to quote an article I read this week, an unnamed Dallas venue owner suggested that while Dallas has great music venues, "Fort Worth has the bands"). I haven't eaten here, so I can't really comment on that part. But I'm excited about the possibilities otherwise.

Yelp
Darkened, red, intimate, ligneous, accessible, musical. That's what the Magnolia Motor Lounge is to me. A little more rural-feeling than the venues I'm closer to, but a comfortable scene and a dedicated salute to local music nonetheless. Live music every night, and they mean it. It could be anyone playing, the room might be packed elbow to elbow, or maybe you'll find yourself sitting among only a few other lone souls. But no matter the weather, the crowd, or the band - there will be music playing at the Motor Lounge! Enjoy their admirable beer selection, fried bar food (that smells pretty dang good, actually), and listen to the melodies of your own Fort Worthians. Plus, the bathrooms are clean. Amen,

Yelp
First things first: It's called the Magnolia Motor Lounge I went there for it's opening day and was immediately greeted with "PBR on tap: $1.50 a pint" which is phenomenal. Upon ordering my delicious beverage I glanced over the menu which is only a few pages long and had an "uh oh" moment upon realizing that damn near everything on the menu is fried. So, once I realized there is no way I'm leaving here without consuming over 2,000 calories, my friend's order of beer battered onion rings arrived at the table and my god were they good. As I chowed down on onion rings and drank my beer I saw something on the menu that made my jaw drop: A deep fried hot dog covered in chili, jalapenos, onions, and mustard (as well as some other sauce that I can't remember.) My friend and I locked eyes and just nodded our heads in agreement: we must have this! I stepped outside for a cigarette and when i came back to the table the evil creation had arrived. I looked down at my plate to see a complete mess of chili and toppings (and of course a side of fries) unable to see hot dog itself. Upon some tooling around with a fork i was able to see the the dish for what it really was: a heart attack waiting to happen, and I couldn't be happier. I should say that there is absolutely no way to eat this thing like a normal hot dog. I mean you can I suppose, but you're going to get more on yourself then you would in your mouth. So, I attacked the monster with everything I had, using whatever fell off as a dip for my fries. The hot dog was crispy on the outside and tender in the middle and it was without a doubt the best hot dog I've ever had in my life. I probably could have finished it, but I felt so bad about eating it to begin with I left a small piece on the end so I wouldn't feel as bad. All-in-all this place is incredible. The owner and management kept walking around checking on every ones food (which is to be expected on opening day) and they were extremely friendly and excited to talk to you. They have awesome decor (kind of 1950's styling) and the combination of cheap beer and deep fried goodness make this place one of my new favorites although I probably won't come here as much as I'd like to due to my own health concerns.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch during our road trip- about 1:45 on a Monday afternoon. Very quiet and quick friendly service. You could tell we weren't there usual crowd (party of four with 1 year old and 12 year old). Food was delicious! Chips and queso, footling corn dog (better than any state fair!) bbq pork sandwich and cheeseburger were very tasty. Kids grilled cheese was a little hard- not the best for kids taste (but mommy loved it!) The place is small and setup as more of a comedy/open mic night spot, but worked perfectly for us today. Four stars only because no baby changing station in the restroom.
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
"A girl stripping inside could not get me up at this second," was the response of my friend as he had a bite of his mag melt. Followed by very happy sounds as we dipped the bacon dippers in queso. I will be back.

Yelp
Magnolia...Motor...Lounge... I love the area this bar/restaurant is located in. Great indoor and outdoor seating. we have been a couple times to this place and both times the service was great. We went for lunch the first time, it was very slow so we almost had the whole place to ourselves. We sat inside and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The second time we went there was a live band and it was pretty loud and crowded. I dont really like scenes like this anymore (boring, I know) but we did sit outside and had a burger and a few drinks. They have mist fans on the patio and wooden picnic tables. Bathrooms = pretty clean (a public bathroom can never be clean enough!) Definitely would return to this place for a yummy burger for lunch!
google avatar

Benjamin M.

Yelp
Great small hang out .... If there is a band it's a great intimate place to listen to your buddy's band!
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
Great spot! Burgers and chips & queso were both terrific. Love their selection of beers (they have hefewisen!). Live music is always a win, too. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Cool place. Good live music set & great selection of beer. Check out the local brews, you'll find some real gems. The servers were knowledgeable, but they could have used a few more on staff the night I was there. Not sure I agree with a $10 cover when the beer was $6.50 a pop... But for a night out in FW... Check it out when you make the rounds!

Yelp
Got a quick bite before heading to Casa Manana. It's got an Austin vibe. There is a stage for a band and decor is sort of biker barish but the TV was tuned to golf lessons. We got the loaded fries (it's queso not shredded cheese) they were different but super good. We tried burgers and pulled pork. Service was great on a Wednesday night. It was yummy bar food!!
google avatar

Danyelle A.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday for lunch. It was excellent. We had two orders of the County Line Chicken with fries (about $12). It was a grilled chicken sandwich with deep fried bacon. I have never had anything like it. Delicious!!! They have a large variety of beer. They rotate these on a regular basis, so they offer fire sales on the one going off the menu. They are half price!!! It was a slow Sunday and we enjoyed a little more attention. WIthout the love music, we didn't get a good feel on atmosphere, but the food was great!
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
We went to hear a couple bands. Austin Meade and Uncle Lucius were phenomenal, by the way. The food was good. I recommend the pork tacos! We arrived early as we had pre-purchased general admission tickets and having never visited the venue, didn't know what to expect. Because we arrived early we were able to grab an unreserved table up next to the stage. We were glad that we hadn't sprung for the VIP tickets though. The only thing those really buy is a chair. People stand in the open space between the tables and the stage so you wind up standing most of the time in order to see. All of that to say, we will be happy to return to this venue. It was an enjoyable evening.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
I did have a great time at the Kody West concert, however, how do I pay big money for aa reserved table but standing room gets to stand in front of me and block my view. Venue is great, drinks are great, and service was great. Just know if you reserve a table, you view will be blocked.

Harley H.

Yelp
Awesome spot. Live music every night, great drink prices, friendly staff. Didn't eat anything except the onion rings and they were delicious! Love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
We really enjoyed listening to the musicians here yesterday, it was red dirt live hosted by the ranch, you can't get much better than that! Austin Allsup, Mike Ryan, Josh Grider, Brent Anderson kicked ass! The only problem I had is that there are not many tables in this bar, I think the space could be utilized better and provide people a place to sit down and eat while listening to the bands. There were two barstools at the bar that my husband and I sat on after a couple handed them off to us, we were quickly rushed by a member of the bar staff and he literally had his hands on the barstool asking me to get off. I think this was really unnecessary and we were hardly in anybody's way. We had already been standing two hours so I teased him, asking him why he was being so mean and he was pissed! I then told him he could go ahead and take the bar stools but he just waved his hand at me and refused to speak to me in his rage. This is actually the only reason I give this bar 4 stars, if the seating can be improved and the space they have utilized better I would recommend going with friends, otherwise you will just be trying to find a place to stand. The bartender Spencer & Savanah were all too kind and we really enjoyed their company as well as their recommendations. We tried the Malibu Cobra hot dog which had peanut butter, cream cheese, BBQ, & Sriracha what a mix but it was really good & interesting!

Yelp
Love it here. Always good service and good music. Good burger, salads, fries, quesadillas. I love it all. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Incompetent ticket handling. We purchased our tickets ahead of time yet they made all ticket holders wait behind people just buying at the door. It was raining to top it off. Get your crap together and treat your previous ticket purchasers better.

Yelp
Great food, nice staff & music! What more do you need!? Love this place.

Yelp
This is a tasty burger! Onion rings too. Staff very friendly. A couple nice local beers on tap.
