In Goa, a Thriving Food and Cocktail Scene Is Catering to a New Wave of Transplants

"Parth Timbadia, the owner of Goa's buzzy restaurants Mahé and Roboto Goa, echoes this sentiment when he tells me that the state is coming into its own as a food-and-drink destination."

Gorgeous building and artistic interiors. We sat indoors for lunch but the AC wasn’t working or the room was too large to get cold fast. The staff was sweet enough to put a fan for us. The curries were really good, specially the veg malabar stew. Staff was friendly and recommended the specials and shared what it was made of. It was a nice experience. I Recommended!

One of the hidden gem in anjuna. Highly recommend the following - Aubergine Recheado, Roast beef with kombu jus, Beef Carpaccio, Telicherry pepper and parota !! Usually my friends do not enjoy aubergine, but they went for a second serving! Superb quality and amazing service ✅

Mahé is a restaurant one must surely visit if you are around Anjuna. Their diverse menu is loaded with authentic coastal dishes. To start with, we ordered the Kokam Shrub and for starters - Cured Mahi Mahi. Mahi Mahi is a 3 day cured Mahi fish which is a kind of sushi but tastes nothing like a raw fish. It is served with coriander oil and coconut milk which makes it absolutely delicious. For main course it was Prawns Sukka which is served with one mini dosa and Slow Roasted Pork Ribs which is served with Kanji rice. Along with these, we ordered goan Poie. I don’t want to use long words here, so in short, they were amazing. For dessert we ordered Pradhaman Panna Cotta which is made with moong dal & milk with cardamom sprinklings. It has the consistency of a caramel custard and tastes outstanding. My wife @thefoodiecurls (insta) picked out this gem of a place so a big thanks to her! Definitely Try Mahé - Modern Coastal Cuisine

One-stop solution for all cravings Coastal. Appams, Porottas, Balchao, Pradhaman- If any of these words made your heart skip a beat then you should make your way to this spectacular restaurant in Anjuna. First things first (Obviously, FOOD)- For appetizers, I tried their chicken 65, Prawn Balchao and Cured Mahi Mahi fish with Coriander Oil and kondattam. Each one of them were absolute stunners in their own way. I would highly recommend the Prawn Balchao and Cured Mahi Mahi fish. Next up - main course: I chose Parotta+Mutton curry and string hoppers+ Chicken stew. Parotta and Mutton curry - These two items when ordered together are guaranteed to bring a smile on your face. For Desserts, I tried the Pradhaman pannacotta and the coconut ice cream with plantain. If you have tried the Pradhaman payasam before you will know what this pannacotta is all about.  It’s not every day that you see a fine dining restaurant that’s willing to take on South Indian food. Mahe adds a sensational twist to dishes that most people in the southern part of India would recognize and love. I thoroughly enjoyed everything that was put on the table. Visit recommended! :)

Nestled in anjuna, Mahe is one of the restaurant in goa that serves best coastal cuisine. This place has got a lovely ambiance that looks even more beautiful at night. They have outdoors seating amidst all the greenery and indoors AC seating. Also do not forget to checkout their lifestyle and art shop. Food: We ordered - Prawns balchao: Prawns were juicy and succulent. The masala was lips-smacking and full of flavours. This dish is a new addition and it's not available on the menu. - Chicken wings with Pulinji sauce: The Pulinji sauce was the main highlight here. Puli being tamarind and inji being ginger, this sauce from Kerala was tangy, spicy and complimented chicken wings so well. - Crispy okra with pickles: This was very interesting preparation of okra. Vegetarians should definitely try this one. - Roasted cauliflower with pea puree: Great presentation! It was good. - Chicken chettinad: We love south Indian chicken gravys and this was so flavoursome!! The chicken pieces were succulent. - Dosa: It was soft and complemented chicken chettinad well. - String Hoppers: These rice noodles are another speciality from Tamil Nadu. It's also called iddiyappam. It was good and went well with the chicken gravy. - Fish Pulimulagu: This fish curry had a twist of tomato based gravy so it was not the spicier side. Fish was delicious!! We had it with brown rice and the combo was good. - Pradhaman Panna Cotta: The best dessert at Mahe!! It was very soothing and had perfect sweetness level. - Gin sour New York style: Another treasure from the chest of bartender. This cocktail served with glass full of single huge ice block is treat for eyes as well as soul. - Homemade ginger beer: This mocktail was refreshing and it has a strong ginger flavour. Must try: Prawns balchao, chicken wings, crispy okra, Chicken chettinad with Dosa, Pradhaman Panna Cotta Service: Great service. Attentive staff. Cost: Most of the items are in range of 350 to 450 bucks.

The ambience is nice. Place is clean and inviting. The menu is very limited and the food although good is not particularly extraordinary. And boy is it overpriced… If you have that kind of money to blow I am sure there are a gazillion better choices in Goa for good coastal seafood.

Mahe is a nice place which offers the most amazing food of Goa. The ambience of the place is just beautiful covered up with greeenery all over. The staff is nice and friendly. The rates are quite moderate but then its totally worth your penny. The seating is comfortable covering around 50 people at a time. Coming to the food, it was delicious and had great taste. The presentation was superb. You may checkout the pictures i took. The drinks which were served were nice. Malllu mai tai was one of the best drink of Mahe. The owner Mr.Mohit is a great host . He took his time out to meet us and tell us about the place and also about each dish we were trying. We had a quite food spread all over our table. Each dish was prepared in a great way to keep the foodie inside us alive. Overall one of the most decent and well managed place of Goa not to be missed at any cost. Cheers to Mohit sir and team. Talking about dishes we had kerela beef fry , prawn curry , brown rice with moong dal curry. The desert was also amazing. As it was my bday i had a great time at this beautiful cafe in Goa. So whenever you visit goa make sure to try some dishes at Mahe.

A hidden gem in Anjuna. Modern and minimalistic decor, good service and delicious food of high standards. It was our best meal in north Goa. Check out their cocktail menu too - we’ll made cocktails. Highly recommend
