Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club, Curio Collection by Hilton

I recently stayed at Mahogany Bay Resort from January 11th to January 16th, 2026, and I would wholeheartedly give them a five-star rating. Despite a small hiccup with our room, the resort handled the situation professionally and promptly, which really impressed me. The property itself is stunning, and my mom especially loved the thoughtful decorations for her birthday. The private beach was a highlight, offering a tranquil and beautiful escape. Overall, the staff was attentive, and their professionalism in resolving any issues made our stay memorable. I highly recommend Mahogany Bay Resort for anyone looking to visit San Pedro. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return in the future!

My family and I had an incredible stay at Mahogany Bay. The staff was incredible and really catered to everything we needed. They handled all excursions for us, which we had a great time on. We ate a majority of our meals at the restaurant on site, and really enjoyed the food. They also have several other restaurants on the property which serve different genres of food including Japanese. We had a great time on our snorkeling trick and were able to swim with sharks. The resort also helped me book a diving experience with a great company, which I had an awesome time. All of the amenities were great, including the private beach and quality of our accommodations. The bed was actually more comfortable than my one at home.

I will start by saying the staff is absolutely amazing! I started communicating with them weeks before our arrival to coordinate flights from Belize City, airport transfer, restaurant questions, golf cart rentals, and more, and each time they were quick and attentive in answering my questions. They took a lot of the guesswork out of the equation, making us feel more prepared and relaxed for our trip. The facilities are good, and they are expanding their property. But it didn't interfere with our stay. The beach is a short boat ride over, and it is heaven on earth. Beautiful waters and overwater cabanas are available to rent for a VERY reasonable price. I would recommend renting a cabana for at least one day during your stay. They have paddle boards and other activities available as well to keep everyone occupied. We also got a golf cart, which was very helpful in getting around San Pedro. You can coordinate a rental through the hotel or any place in town. Overall, I would recommend Mahogany Bay!

Everything about this resort was phenomenal. I’m a solo traveler and I enjoyed how friendly the staff was. Everyone from the front staff to Edson ( he’s the on site taxi ) was truly amazing. ||On my first day I went to the pool house and I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, a staff member offered his bug spray and told me to keep it. I was so grateful as that’s what hospitality is truly about. ||Also. I can tell everyone enjoyed working here. Everyone is happy and made me feel at home. If you’re having breakfast in the main restaurant make sure to ask for Miguel as your server. He is truly a gem.

We were really excited to stay here, but the customer service is terrible. Not what you would expect from a Hilton. The property and rooms were beautiful with plenty of room, and the property itself felt very safe. The customer service was the only issue we had here and it was really frustrating considering how much we paid for our family of 5 to stay. We were very excited for the private beach until we were told you had to sign up for it and they didn’t have any room on the boats while we were there?! There were no apologies, or understanding the frustration. Every-time I was at the front counter, there was one or maybe two people helping guests. Guests were going very angry in line, and talking about how horrible the service was for them as well. We ended up switching to a house on the property and the day before we checked out we were able to secure a space to get on the boat for our checkout day. When I got up to the counter to check out of both rooms, I was told we couldn’t use the beach anymore because we were checking out!! One of the main draws to this hotel was the private beach! I was able to reverse one check out so we could go but it took me not taking no for an answer and getting upset. Our kids would have been so bummed if we missed that opportunity. The beach itself was super cool! So much to do, absolutely gorgeous and the food/service was much better than the hotel itself. Go to the pool club when you stay there, it’s fantastic! And the farmhouse coffee shop is delicious! Both are privately owned but in the same neighborhood. If we ever come back to the island, we will never stay here again. Hilton, do better. There is so much potential.

I have mixed feelings about my stay at Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club, Curio Collection by Hilton. Overall, the property itself is beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are lovely, and it definitely has the potential to be a really peaceful, upscale resort experience. I also really loved the way they decorated my room for my birthday — it came together perfectly and definitely made me feel special when I arrived. That said, the service was unfortunately inconsistent and below what I expected from a Hilton Curio property. Outside of the great experience I had at the Pool Club restaurant, which is not Hilton owned, and the wonderful ladies at the spa, I didn’t find the staff particularly warm or attentive. I often waited a long time for drinks at the bar and even the service at the reception was not great, even when the resort wasn’t very busy. One uncomfortable moment stood out at the Dirty Martini bar, where the bartender commented on the price of my earrings, told me hers were expensive, and then stood directly in front of me, staring at me, no additional conversation while I drank my cocktail, which honestly wasn’t very good. It felt awkward and unwelcoming, like she wanted me to finish quickly so she could go back to sitting and scrolling on her phone. That interaction really left a bad impression. Another downside was the lack of soundproofing in the Keeping Suites. If your neighbor plays loud music, you will hear it — in my case from around 8pm to 3am, which made it difficult to rest. Also, there are no full length mirrors in these rooms. I was also disappointed that I didn’t get to experience the Beach Club, which was one of the main reasons I chose this resort, because the water was too rough the day I planned to go. Understandably outside of the control of the staff and resort. Despite all of this, I surprisingly feel like I would stay here again — but not in the Hilton portion. I’ve met several people who stayed in the Airbnb section of the property and absolutely loved it, so I would consider that instead next time. The location is also not too far from the busy part of San Pedro, which is why I chose it, as I wanted something quieter. However, next time, I may ultimately choose to stay closer to town for better overall convenience and atmosphere. Overall, beautiful and relaxing property with a lot of potential, but the service and guest experience didn’t quite live up to expectations for the brand but I still made the most of it and had a wonderful time in Belize celebrating my birthday.

I was excited to for my stay here but unfortunately the property was disappointing for the cost and for being associated with the Hilton brand. The property feels like you are in a mid construction phase suburb in the USA. There is no character or soul to the place at the all. The rooms were a nice size, comfortable beds, and good shower. However, there is no sound proofing between units, no balcony, and outdoor areas are poorly lit. There was no light by the stairs on my unit and I had navigate three flights of stairs in the dark. ||The inside and outside smells like a sewer and once you arrive, you realize that the property is actually on a swamp. The swamp experience continues on as you are transported to the private beach...a nice boat ride takes you to another swamp that happens to have have cabanas and tables in the water. Also, the water is not even knee deep so you can't even properly cool off. I was really looking forward to the beach club but left after a couple of hours and did not return for the duration of my stay. ||Food was overpriced and not very good. The only exception was the Pool Bar - their food and ambiance was very nice. Don't rent golf carts through the property, their prices are outrageous. I had a company deliver mine to the hotel and saved a lot. Also, the location is quite far from everything so you need a golf cart to get to town. ||For the price point, this was a really disappointing experience.

Everyone was kind and polite but it didn't make up for the problems we had while we were staying at Mahogany Bay. We stayed there for a week. During that time we needed to interact with the front desk multiple times: -The door lock malfunctioned and we were locked out of our cabin for over an hour. -The screen fell off the front window. There is no glass and the mosquitoes make the screen a requirement. -Our front porch light went out. -The hot water heater broke. -There was no drinking water, required in Belize. -There were no towels after our first room service. (At this point we requested more towels and just kept the "do not disturb" sign on the door, having decided that housekeeping was not very helpful.) -One of the air conditioner units broke down. Though they promised to send someone over right away nobody showed and it was NEVER fixed. -Someone went through my backpack while we were away and $100 was stolen from inside the nightstand drawer. -We asked for two extra key cards and were told they could do it but if we didn't return them they would charge us $50 each. Weird. -The power was out for much of an afternoon, and the front desk told us the power was out for the entire island so we stayed in until it was back. It turned out that power was only out in the resort and the rest of the island was fine. We could have enjoyed ourselves elsewhere if given the correct information. Most of these are small on their own, but the aggregate made our stay extremely frustrating. It felt like there was always something we needed to address. The money being stolen was not small, of course. There is a safe that I was not using, so after that we stuffed as much as we could into the safe and stored our scuba gear at the dive shop. We felt much better about storing it there than in our locked unit at Mahogany Bay. We thought we were being cautious by staying somewhere with the Hilton name attached. It was a mistake. We fell in love with Belize but will never return to Mahogany Bay.
