My husband and I recently stayed two nights at the Mahogany Manor. Our stay there was truly a highlight of our trip to Atlantic Canada. Carl was friendly, interesting to talk with, and informative about places to see and excellent restaurants to dine at. Our room was perfect! It was cozy with a balcony and beautifully decorated. The entire house creates a wonderful atmosphere for a getaway. Breakfast both mornings was very delicious and the best we've had at any Canadian Bed and Breakfast. We definitely plan to return again soon.

Carl and Jim run a beautiful friendly B&B right in center of Saint John on a quiet leafy street only a few blocks from lots of great restaurants. The house is magnificent with historic decor and lovely bedrooms. The property is clean well maintained and Carl provides excellent breakfasts to your taste. |Carls omelette and homemade quiche are best I have ever tasted. Complemented with Jim’s homemade blueberry muffins. |The front porch is often a stopping point to share the days news. |I would definitely stay here again if I am in Saint John.

Mahogany Manor truly takes the guest back into a historic period of life in Saint John! This amazing B &B is decorated to reflect a true "Manor". The personal touches from Carl, along with his friendly banter, were beyond any expectation. His immediate call for dinner reservations (on a Friday night) to his recommended "fish" restaurant was appreciated. As was his knowledge of the area along with his walking map. The large 'hot' breakfast was delicious. Just a very "homey" environment. Would definitely recommend.

Carl & Jim were very friendly and welcoming hosts. They invited us to join them on the front porch to watch the fireworks for Canada Day. The Mahogany Manor room was spacious and comfortable with a small bathroom. A hot breakfast was freshly prepared by Carl and served along with fruit and homemade jams. Externally the building looks a bit down at heel, but otherwise this is an enjoyable place to stay.

We stayed at the Mahogany Manor for two nights. The house and the hosts were very interesting, as was the historic area of St. John in which the house lies. The local pubs offered good 'bar food' (but be careful to check opening hours) and breakfast at the B'n'B was excellent. I had run the Fredericton marathon the previous day and took advantage of one of the hosts being a registered massage therapist (which seemed to almost miraculously speed up my recovery).

We absolutely loved our stay at Mahogany Manor. Location is fantastic, breakfast was delicious, and the room was cute and full of character. Carl & Jim are absolute gems and we will most definitely stay here again should we return to St John.

My husband and I were only able to spend one night in Saint John, unfortunately, but we took full advantage of our hosts' suggestions for seeing what we could during our day there. We took their recommendation for dinner, within walking distance. Additionally there are brochures and books on the area in the rooms and the guest lounge. We had to catch the ferry early the next morning and were pleasantly surprised to be served a full hot breakfast before our departure (we'd been expecting a boxed breakfast to take with us). Our room was large and pleasant with an excellent bed. My memory is a bit vague now but I think the bath towel provided was a bit smaller and less fluffy than I'm used to. But a cozy bathrobe was provided. Parking is definitely tricky as it requires backing into a driveway and positioning the car exactly, but we were relieved to have on-site parking and didn't move the car anyway except to depart. Carl and Jim don't take credit cards but this information is on the website and in emails and phone calls they reiterated it, so we were prepared with cash (they may do Paypal, not sure). This is definitely an old-fashioned B&B--and I mean this positively--with only a few rooms (all different), the hosts living onsite, full breakfasts, conversations with hosts and other guests expected at the table, no in-room TVs, no elevator, and a definite sense of being in a home rather than a hotel. We enjoyed the Victorian house, inside and out! A final note: I filled out the online reservation form but did not hear back from the hosts so called a couple of weeks later when I finally realized we didn't have a confirmed reservation at the B&B. They had responded, but for some reason I did not receive their message. I'd recommend calling to reserve, or at least following up by phone within a couple of days of sending your message.

We didn't actually stay here. We were walking by doing the walking tour and one of the owners came out and was kind enough to give us a paper guide. He spent a few minutes with us giving us some tips on things to see. If this is the type of service that he offers his guests, I can only believe it would be a five star experience! Thank you very much for your local hospitality, it was greatly appreciated.

Yelp
Absolutely love Carl and Jim. They are so warm and loving, and are such storytellers! Small bed and breakfast of four rooms, all of them perfect for a couple stay. The house is gorgeous with lots of character. The breakfasts are different every day and are delicious. Carl also does massages as he is certified, and will offer a discount to guests. The establishment is only a few minute walk from downtown. Totally recommend to stay here.
