The 21 Best Beaches in Florida | Condé Nast Traveler

"For a taste of old-school Florida beach vacations—sandcastles, ice cream, and room to roam—I loved the wide, uncrowded shoreline of Main Beach on Amelia Island, which offers 13 miles of sand and 40 public access points for low-key family getaways; accessibility is a priority here, with an ADA-compliant Mobi-mat from the boardwalk to the sand and reservable upright and floating beach wheelchairs via the Atlantic Recreation Center, and for a classic resort-style stay you can check into The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for boardwalk-accessible sand and breezy ocean-inspired rooms." - Paul Rubio

This place was super relaxed, groomed, full of amenities, has plenty of parking, spacious bathrooms, showers and nice beachfront area as well as plenty of places to sit on benches and walkway paths. What more beachfront parks should look like!

Google
Great beach with nice facilities. Place for dogs and kids. In a very pretty section of town. Water was rough today but beautiful nonetheless.

This was a nice spot with beach access, public parking, clean restrooms, and a playground. There was a free library box, take one / leave one. Also, a Washed Up project box. Need a toy borrow one, or if you have spares that you don't want to take home from vacation, donate them in the box for other children to enjoy. Love the vibe of this beach area

Great park at the Main Beach. Very nice playgrounds. Showers to rinse off. A box for beach toys to borrow or leave a beach toy.

I Was Enjoying a Ride on My Harley-Davidson Sportster 48. Saw This Sea Side Park and Stopped For Look ! It Was a Spring Type Day in December!

Surf was high so we didn't get to swim. Beautiful beach, offers to let kids borrow both toys and lifejackets, and the views were outstanding.

We stopped here on our drive north from Orlando for a picnic lunch and to stretch our legs. There’s plenty of free parking, multiple covered pavilions with picnic tables, bathrooms, showers and a nice playground. We walked out to the beach for a few minutes before resuming our trip. A great beach, especially if you have kids.

Google
A very beautiful beach for a wonderful day of swimming with the family. Clean showers and public restrooms, and plenty of space even in high season. There's a playground and picnic areas with fire pits for barbecues. There are also some good restaurants nearby.

Yelp
4/17/25. Today was Keep Nassau Beautiful event. Lots of educational vendors and other vendor with nature oriented things for sale. This is once a year and a wonderful community thing. There were several food trucks and a stage with great music to sit and listen right off the beach!

Yelp
We stopped by the main beach to take a walk along the water line, test the water temperature, and look for shells. The beach was clean, white and wide. It takes a bit to walk from the parking lot to the water so we understood why so many folks had those carts with wheels. There were a few benches at the edge of the parking lot right on the start of the beach. We sat for a bit here, too, enjoying a cool breeze coming off the water. Although there's no shade anywhere except if you've brought your own umbrella, it was still pleasant. We did join the folks looking for sharks teeth. The beach has been replenished with fill so if you dig a bit by the water, you can uncover all sorts of tiny bits. We hadn't come prepared with digging tools as some had so we were not seriously looking. And the folks with their metal detectors were also wending their way up and down. We liked this beach and if we'd been in town longer, we'd have come here again for a bit of r and r. It's great that it is a public beach open to all. There were not many people swimming or even in the water. I'm not sure if it was undertow there or not. There were no lifeguards that we saw.

Yelp
Free parking? Yes, free parking! At least here at this part of the beach, there is a big lot, a building with restrooms and showers and a walkway over the dunes to the beautiful beach. I didn't spend too much time here this afternoon as I was meeting a friend for dinner at Salt Life. I was early so that gave me time to explore, walk out onto the beach, even get a little sand between my toes before heading back. Fabulous spot and no doubt, crowded in the winter time. Yelp
I chilled on this beach during a rain storm for a couple hours. It's a nice beach and there is no parking fee. Main Beach is located on the East side of Amelia Island. Near the beach is a grassy area, sand volleyball, outdoor showers, a playground, a skate park, and miniature golf. There is plenty to do here. Salt Life Food Shack is by Main Beach as well if you want to grab a bite to eat. If you want to sit, they provide a number of lounge chairs. I'm not from here, but I guess this area is one of the hot spots for shark tooth hunting. I enjoyed watching a handful of people digging around for them.

Yelp
Had a great time at Fernandina beach the water was warm and clear. We also stopped at salt life for some food the grouper was delicious. Lots of pets walking around and enjoying the beach too

Yelp
I've actually stopped here a few times- either to run out and dip my feet in the water, park and watch for Right Whales while it was raining, or just to take in the views. One of the last beaches you can visit at the Northern end of East Coast Florida- Fort Clinch I think offers the furthest beach- but this one is free. Parking is available in the lot and along the street there is a huge adjacent park on navigation is comes up as Wolf Park, but signage says Main Beach. I think the beach is Main Beach and the park may be "Wolf Park". Either way- it is a nice place to stop and enjoy the ocean and sand.

Yelp
Even in the rain this beach is just such a peaceful place to visit. At the end of the Amelia Island Historic and shopping area, it's a clean spot to bring your family for a fun outing during both the summer and the cool fall months. Yes it does get pretty darn hot here in the summer so come early morning and leave midday if you cant take the heat, otherwise bring and umbrella, a cooler and enjoy the breeze and the water and reach for the binoculars and I am sure you will spot the occasional dolphins in the ocean. Many who walk the coast here find lots of shark teeth and the local merchants are glad to buy those from you. Most like myself would prefer to keep our finds. Keep posted for BBQ events and other outdoor activities sponsored by the local merchants and the town of Amelia Island. It's a great place to visit.

Yelp
Stopped for about an hour at Main Beach Park to try to find sharks teeth before leaving Amelia Island. The access ramp and rinse stations are located near the restrooms & playground. There are several picnic shelters, beach volleyball and a nice soft grassy areas to run around, play catch or have a picnic. Thankfully, we found a lot of nice sized, unbroken shells & sharks teeth during low-tide. Mission Accomplished! I can't wait to take the other half of my family back to hunt for more sharks teeth when we have more time to sit and sift through the sand. PROS: Restrooms and parking aren't a far walk from the beach. Restrooms seem well-kept. Ramps make it easy if you're pushing around beach carts. Great playground for younger kids and skate park for the older ones. Lots of picnic tables. TIPS: Check the tide charts. We went the previous afternoon during high tide to a beach in Fort Clinch - there was a ton of sea foam which was a little gross to me. These pictures were taken during low tide the following morning. The beach & water were picture-perfect. Glad we didn't leave the beach empty-handed and that Amelia Island lived up to its reputation of easily finding sharks teeth! If you're interested in seeing the plethora of shark teeth finds at this beach and other local beaches on Amelia Island start following the "shark teeth hunting on fernandina beach" Facebook page. Yelp
Great little beach park. I found this place because I was a tourist & As I was driving around I noticed there was a sign out front advertising the "Turtle Trot" 5k on Labor Day. The park is along a wide & truly beautiful beach with powdery white sand. There is a raised wooden boardwalk that you can walk along with great views of the ocean/beach. There seemed to be ample, (free-always a plus,) parking and there were well maintained bathrooms onsite. There's a playground for the little ones, a very basic putt putt course & a snack bar. I was on vacation in Amelia Island. Too bad this beach park isn't near me. Loved it!

Yelp
Free and plentiful parking at the beach?! This place is almost too good to be true. There are a couple of outdoor showers and bathrooms between the parking lot and the beach. The beach was clean, it is pet-friendly, and there are lots of shells for collection (but the trade-off is that the sand can be a bit coarse at parts). Apparently people like looking for shark teeth here. I also discovered that I'm enamored with sea foam. Hilton Head is a really cute little beach community. Check out the shops on the other side from the beach (there's free public parking over there too!). Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Love going to relax at the beach with amenities available close by. It is nice to have a bathroom and shower to rinse off. There are a few restaurants if you want to get a bite to eat. The playground and pavilion area is pretty chill of you don't want to get sandy.

Yelp
We went over today to see how the sand fill project was progressing. They are north of the beach entrance --we stopped at our favorite parking area. The workers are there -- there is orange chain link fence blocking entry -- but you can still watch the workers -- there are two gazebos with a good view. The pipes run along he beach and the slurry goes in at the north end. and deposits fine white sand I was told that the crews go up and down the coast lies. They have a couple of trailers, and a lot of earth moving equipment -- along with 2 port a poddies' and a grill to cook on. There a very large tanks of fuel for the equipment. It started to rain and they kept working . Had some problems getting pictures --but we were rewarded with the sight of a beautiful sky.

Yelp
This is such a cute beach access. Lots of parking spots and they have a putt putt golf area, a playground, picnic tables, and lots of benches. They have a little food stand by the putt putt golf too. I just bought ice cream but they serve hot dogs and hamburgers and they have a huge sign stating best burgers on the island! I'll definitely be trying one next time I go back to Main beach. The ice cream was Blue Bell (yum!) and they had over ten flavors available. The small cup was $3.50 but was a huge portion, way too much ice cream for my kids! The putt putt course was very basic and had actually two different courses right next to each other, both had 16 holes if I remember correctly. Again, the putt putt is very old and basic. Don't go expecting anything fancy because you will be let down. I took my three nieces (ages 3-7) and they loved it. And the best part - kids putt for free with a paid adult. So I literally paid $5.35 for me and three kids to play!! This is my new favorite beach access spot in Fernandina!

Yelp
The hidden gem of the Jacksonville public beaches. About 20 minutes north of Jacksonville Beach and a ferry ride you will find the quiet historical town of Fernandina Beach. This beach town sits on the border of the Florida/Georgia Line you will find here locals and beach front rental visitors. The biggest difference from Jax Beach and Ferandina beach is the crowd, typically more relaxed not as party going just trying to have a nice time at the beach. Another thing to point out is the beach is pretty clean garbage is scarce. If you are looking for bar hopping along the beach you won't have much luck here. However, two recommendations is Sandy Bottoms Bar and grill you can have a brew on their outdoor patio. About 2 miles south you have Sliders Seaside grill which has an outdoor deck on the beach, but its a little walk to the actual water.(You will find a little more party goers at this spot) If you are in the neighborhood go take a stroll in Amelia Island, nice little shops and a couple seafood joints for your choosing. Me personally if you want something quick check out Tastys burgers and Shake. Suggestions- Bring Water! Moose Out

Yelp
I found a beach on the ocean. It is called Main Beach. I was not impressed. However, I stayed until long after sunset and the world became magical. Or maybe that was just the beer.

Yelp
A plain sounding name, for well a plain part of the beach. While this is not the main spot of Fernandina it is easy to access and simple enough to enjoy. It is very northern and has a few bars in the area. A nice place to relax and stroll around for a bit of a walk. Not too crowded and much more chill. You will probably not get crazy wild at this beach, but after a long day at work I could grab a beer and sit with some buddies here.
