Main Street Hotel (Ypres, Flanders) Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s a weird place, the Main Street Hotel, and given how well they’ve orchestrated all the weirdness, we’ll count that as a good thing. Each of the six rooms is a bit like a toy-chest, stocked with the sorts of curios that will make you want to do a lot of poking around, opening up all the drawers to see what’s inside, turning things over in your hands. And there’s a lot of faux fur; let’s get that out of the way. But if you can get past that initial feeling of what-the-fuzz-is-going-on, the anything-but-mainstream Main Street hotel is in fact a very fun place to stay." - Tablet Hotels

We rarely make a return trip to a hotel as there is so much out there to experience so to report that this is our THIRD visit to Elodie’s beautiful hotel really says something. A wonderful overnight stay with the warmest of welcomes, local sparkling wine, restaurant recommendations, the comfiest bed, the most restful night’s sleep, all followed by a feast of a home made breakfast featuring local produce. Everything was made even better by a good understanding of gluten free food as my husband has coeliac disease. And, yes, we will definitely go back!

We stayed at the Main Street Hotel in Ypres for four nights (midweek) in August. We chose the hotel based on the previous excellent reviews, and we were not disappointed. The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Ypres and is characterised by a quirky charm (visit the basement toilets in the main building!) and a relaxed ambience. Our room (the Potterie) was comfy, private, quiet and well supplied with complimentary toiletries, drinks and snacks. We also appreciated the hotel’s honesty bar, offering an additional selection of drinks to enjoy in our room or the hotel lounge. Élodie’s warm hospitality cannot be faulted, and the breakfasts were impressive, featuring local ingredients and dishes, with the menu offering sufficient variety to maintain our interest even over a longer stay. Highly recommended for those looking for a personalised service and a touch of luxury during their visit to Ypres. Thank you Élodie!

We recently stayed at Main Street Hotel on a short break in Ypres.||Elodie’s customer service is exceptional and the breakfast amazing, especially the omelettes and home made bread.||The hotel is very convenient for the centre with all day parking, just round the corner, for euro2 a day. Also, Elodie can provide a pass to park opposite for 2 hours.||We stayed in the Wild room, at the top of the hotel, which is well equipped with a large bathroom. Our only, slight, issue was that as the room and bathroom is decorated in dark brown it did not have a lot of natural light.

We had a couple of nights based at Main Street Hotel with my parents, wife, brother and sister in law. Elodie was a wonderful and attentive hostess from arrival to departure and made us feel at home as we explored the battlefields and local points of interest. We would highly recommend.

Eloide was a friendly and helpful host - nothing was too much trouble. Each room had its own special character, was beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, well stocked minibar and spacious bathroom. Hot Breakfast was freshly prepared with local ingredients by Eloise and the breakfast buffet was varied and delicious.

Absolutely sensational! Certainly the best hospitality experience we've ever had. Elodie is a superb host, very attentive and extremely kind and warm. The location is obviously fabulous, and the room was really high quality. We were greeted with welcome drinks (on the house....) and a warm chat about us and about what we planned to enjoy in the city, including Elodie's personal recommendations. The visit was further enhanced by the complimentary and fully stocked room mini bar and a sensational home cooked breakfast each morning. Absolutely incredible! Neil and Emma, Hampshire, UK

It is not often that you feel you have stayed at a hotel that is beautiful, unique, faultless and the most friendly place you can imagine. The breakfast was perfect, nothing was too much trouble. I honestly can not recommend this hotel enough.
