What to Eat at Disneyland

"The spicy pickles sold at fruit carts across both parks are juicy, briny, and packed with pickle flavor; the profile leans more garlic‑forward than truly hot, making them a quick, tangy pick‑me‑up. As a fun side note, being first to grab a pickle at the Main Street cart can earn you a novelty “first pickle” pin." - Andee Gosnell

Google
Disneyland has several vehicles that drive up and down Main Street USA. To ride, look for the signs near the train station for the vehicle stops and near the castle. It's a great relaxing way to leave the park for an afternoon break after spending the morning in Fantasyland. Some of the vehicles were driven by Walt Disney himself! Such cool history available in the parks. This trip we rode the classic car and horse drawn carriage. Will look to ride on the fire truck and double decker bus on our next adventure.

Yelp
Okay so here's the deal on the Main Street Vehicles. There's multiple ways to travel through Main Street USA. It's like a video game and you are on a quest. All paths lead to the same destination. But each path is a different journey. You jump on at Town Square near City Hall and end at Central Plaza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Your quest vehicles include: Horse-Drawn Street Car (an old-fashioned trolley pulled by a horse), Jitney (an early automobile without a roof), Fire Engine (a replica of the very first fire trucks), Omnibus (a gas-powered/open-air 2-story bus). All are fun! And it might be good to do this quest multiple times, so that you can experience each mode of transportation. That way you can pick your favorite! :)

Yelp
Travel back to the days of yesteryear when old fashioned horse drawn trolleys, fire trucks, double decker buses, and a jitney travelled the length of Main St USA. Keep an eye out for that jitney-you never know who you may find in there! Sure enough as we were on Main St who should come down in the jitney-Cruella DeVille! The vehicles offer both round trip or one way rides from Main St square near the park entrance up to the hub right before the Sleeping Beauty castle. My husband and I decided to ride the horse drawn trolley from the hub down to the square since we were getting ready to go on a tour. I loved how the trolley was decked out with advertising of what's in that section of the park. As soon as our driver had enough passengers we took a slow ride down the trolley tracks as we observed people on both sides of us walk up and down Main St USA. It was a very pleasant ride and lasted a maximum of 15 minutes. You owe it to yourself to ride one of these vehicles once while visiting Disneyland which will put you more in tune with life at the turn of the 20th century. Be on the lookout for that fire truck. One night I saw it parked in front of the fire house and you can climb aboard and have your picture taken. Magic Kingdom counterpart: Disneyland has the edge here. The Magic Kingdom does not have all the vehicles running that I have noted above and due to crowd control they are limited to run them for only one hour of the day which is usually in the morning. Still it is great to see them in action and feel a part of the small town. Located on both ends of Main St USA in Disneyland, they run continually.

Yelp
Disneyland's Main Street USA is super cute. Mr Disney designed it to look like an idyllic turn of the 20th century (1900) Main Street of an American small town. Look straight down the street and you see Sleeping Beauty's Castle. That makes it all so whimsical. Plus it's more beautiful at night with all the lights. Main Street awaits. It's filled with shops, eateries, and of course the iconic attractions such as Great Moments with President Lincoln and the Main Street Theater. The animatronic President Lincoln is pretty cool. The Main Street Cinema shows black and white reels of Mr Disney's earlier cartoon works such as Steamboat Willie. When I was visiting, there were no Dapper Dans, no carriages, no trolleys, and no electric parade. Fun Fact: Above the fire station is Walt Disney's private apartment. It's not open to the public. But a lighted candle sits in the window and is visible.

Yelp
Like taking a stroll back in time to the 1900's. Love the old timey look and feel of Main Street at Disney. It's like walking through a Norman Rockwell painting. Leading to the center castle you'll find so many shops, ice cream parlors, street entertainers, city hall, picture spots, and a lot to check out. You'll also find the public lockers, carriage rental, and motorized wheelchairs here for those who need them. At times Disney characters walk around for meet and greets along the street too. Also, make sure to go to City Hall before heading into the park to get your special badges to wear for birthdays, anniversary, or special event days!

Yelp
I like Main Street vehicles when, it's very nostalgic for over 65 years. Also, it's good to walk around the Disneyland park during the day. Especially, the parades at day and night as my family liked to watch Disney characters performance.

Yelp
I insanely LOVE Main Street USA in Disneyland. This version of Main Street is far superior to Disney World's Magic Kingdom's version (sorry Disney World fans)! Anyways, Main Street has the most amazing shops including a Disney theater that shows vintage Disney cartoons, Great Moments with Mr Lincoln attraction, a flower shop, bakeries, an ice cream parlor and so many yummy restaurants too. My favorite shops include the Main Street emporium and the plaza point holiday shoppe. The Emporium features everything from Disney clothing, food, Kitchen items, home decor, stuffed animals, toys, jewelry (the list goes on and on)! The Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe is opened year round and has so many amazing Christmas decorations (you will fall in love for sure)! Another amazing thing about Main Street are the characters (you can always spot them), all the stores are themed and decorated so beautifully and there is a lovely horse drawn carriage that will take you down Main Street and drop you off at Fantasyland. Walt's apartment also sits above the Main Street Fire Department; I have never been but I hear you can take a tour of it. Main Street is an absolute shoppers dream came true and is what makes Disneyland so charming and elegant.

Yelp
The older I get the more I appreciate Main Street. I love all the little shops, the Emporium, the Pin Trading cart at the end. I tend to breeze right past it in the morning to get my rides done for the day, and then circle back over and take my time shopping before I leave. I've taken to nabbing a locker first thing when I get to the park, so if I do decide to shop during the day, I'll usually drop any items off into the locker for safekeeping before heading back out again. Years ago I was able to purchase a Disney name tag that they no longer make and to this day I still get compliments every trip I wear it. I'd love it if they brought it back, but again - it's been a few years. Some of my favorite items from my Disney trips are the mugs and the holiday ornaments I've found on Main Street and I usually grab a few lollies as well for the honey if he hasn't joined me on the trip. All in all, I'm a big fan of Main Street, there's just never time to fully explore everything!

Yelp
Main Street is filled with cute shops and restaurants to enjoy. Our favorite option is a classic corn dog. So yummy!!!

Yelp
Main Street USA is the street leading into the theme park. They have souvenir shops and restaurants. It's also where they have the parade and fireworks show at night. Don't forget to pick up your pictures that's on your photo pass. This is also where you'll find the Disneyland Railroad and Main Street Vehicles such as the Horseless Carriage, Fire Engine, Horse-Drawn Streetcars, and Omnibus. You'll find the Opera House which features Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Get your free Disney buttons at City Hall. The Disney Dining at Main Street are Carnation Cafe, Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Refreshment Corner, Market House, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, and Plaza Inn. Plaza Inn is where they have the character breakfast. Get that pink Minnie Mouse button.

Yelp
If your feet start failing you during a long day at the "Happiest Place on Earth" or if you are just plain old lazy (I am prone to laziness) Disneyland provides several forms of transportation up and down Main Street USA. Rohlinism: It is better to feel lazy than to feel exhausted! You can pick up a ride from a Main Street USA Horse-Drawn Streetcar, the Main Street USA Fire Engine, the Main Street USA Omnibus or the Main Street USA Jitney at the Town Square near City Hall and at Central Plaza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Each of the four forms of transportation has a marked stop: ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=BfZ2F42cwCARTbz53txK8w ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=hhT-w0vQoRctuz4ORt5wbw ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=ys-tSzFDeW5MHxLAv25_0Q ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=CPnDQwzcbr_4UloaYe7OPg ) The rides are one way, but there is nothing stopping you from getting off one vehicle and jumping right onto another vehicle to complete your round trip. It is best to catch a ride early in the morning and it is a great way to work your way through the crowds on Main Street USA ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select_video=FjFPEB3IzLLT6JFjm-nq4g ) since Disneyland vehicles always have the right of way in the park. I believe the vehicles don't run in the evening and the horse-drawn streetcars will retire for the day if the temperature reaches 90 degrees for the protection of the horses. Of the four forms of transportation available, the better half and I have only utilized the horse-drawn streetcars: ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=jfFdilo4gtO_q398LC_NTg ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=6lwlAiGqxi0yv7vMZdQFuA ) Disneyland has a stable in Norco with a combination of Percherons, Clydesdales, Belgians and Shires with a smaller stable in the park behind the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction. The smaller stable holds six horses and each horse works no more than 4 hours a day and no more than 4 days a week. The horses also get about five to ten minute breaks between each stop and about a 20 minute break when the Disneyland Band plays in front of the train station. Each horse is capable of pulling approximately 3000 pounds of dead weight (1 1/2 times their weight) and the streetcar carries around 30 guests at a leisurely 4 miles per hour. Like the rest of the cast members, each horse has its own name tag proudly displayed on the inside of the streetcar. Please remember the horses are working and like all working animals the horses should not be touched while on the job. If you are interested in something with a little more "hoof-power", Disneyland has three motorized options: ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=FIFGutjqW8jRUjf4ajCw4Q ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=GTlQq4QTKDYpKVJcG_Ny2A ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/main-street-vehicles-anaheim?select=43_24H2Ed74aQGlhynSiEA ) The original fire engine which was driven on opening day and would from time to time find Walt Disney himself at the wheel is now housed inside the fire station next to guest relations. The current fire engine making the rounds up and down Main Street USA by Bob Gurr and built at the Disney Studios. The Disney folk lore tells us Mr. Gurr didn't want the fire engine delivered on the back of a flatbed, so he drove the assembled vehicle 45 minutes from the studio to the park. The fire engine can accommodate 8 to 10 park guests. The jitney gets its name from early 1900s slang for a nickel and later was applied to small buses which cost a nickel to ride. The vehicle is modeled after the first vehicles on the early 1900s. The jitney has a two cylinder, four horsepower engine with a manual transmission. Like the fire engine, the jitney has a capacity of 8 to 10 park guests. The last horseless option is the omnibus. The omnibus at Disneyland holds 45 park guests and is a double decker bus fashioned after the buses that ran in New York City during the 1920s. The second deck of the bus gives park guests a unique vantage point for pictures when traversing Main Street USA. The better half and I will continue to use these forms of transportation to get up and down Main Street USA when we don't feel like fighting through the crowds or when we get a case of the "lazies"!

Yelp
Practically perfect in every way! Main Street will take you back many years, and make you transport into a place you have not seen in years, or if you are young, maybe NEVER seen. There is so much to see here: entertainment, music, horse drawn carriages, food spots, desserts, snacks, shopping, and during the day there are many characters walking about. This is a great place to hang out, and relax, but also this is the main area you enter into before beginning your Disneyland journey.

Yelp
It's so shocking to me to see that Main Street is on Yelp. Ha. Well if you've never been to Disneyland and you're planning on going Main Street is beautiful at night, all the lights come on, it's full of food and stores! & it's beautiful! It can get packed though very quickly and it tends to be full of people by the time parades or fireworks start, so be mindful! Most of the time cast members take you behind Main Street to get through the park!

Yelp
I can't believe Main Street, USA only has one Yelp review so far! It's a delightful long street at the entrance of Disneyland. You walk through Main Street to get to the rest of the park from the entrance. The street affords a beautiful view of Sleeping Beauty's Castle and contains numerous gift shops and ice cream parlors. We visited the Crystal Arts necklace shop to get an adorable Disney necklace, and also stopped in the Clothiers gift shop to get Disney sweatshirts. I was a fan of the Crystal Arts gift shop, but not as big a fan of the Clothiers gift shop (they were not very friendly). Main Street also has an amazing ice cream parlor! It's very old timey and serves up large scoops of delicious, ambrosial ice cream. I opted for the apple pie and vanilla ice cream option and each scoop was decadent and tasty. Main Street is just absolutely delightful. You'll often see characters strolling through there, and I took a photo with a large batch of balloons. It's also where Disneyland's large Christmas tree is located during the holidays. We visited during the holidays in December 2017 and loved all the decor. Simply gorgeous :)

Yelp
Shopping, coffee, and food. What more needs to be said for the lovely Main street U.S.A???? There are many food and beverage options here so if you need something right when you get in the parks to hold you over until your breakfast reservation, you can get it here!

Yelp
Every one must pass by here on the way into the interior of Disneyland. So much to see and I don't even think I've visited all the shops along this street even though I had an annual pass for 1 year! Great way to see the parade as it always passes by here at the end of their route.

Naz N.

Yelp
If you want to watch the parade his the stores on main street grab some snacks, claim your parade spot, and people watch until the parade starts.

Yelp
Walts originals designed by Bob Gurr! Look up Bob and what he is doing now! Everything Disneyland has on wheels was probably designed by Bob Gurr! He is an extraordinary man. I do hope to get to meet him one day. The Horses are so beautiful pulling the Trolley, they even have special shoes to make the clip clop louder! The Fire Engine was driven to the Park down one of LAs New Freeways in 1955. Now the Fire Engine is driven most often by one of Disneylands oldes Cast Members. Steve Finley. 32 years now. Amazing. Thank you to Steve and all the Cast Members for bringing the Magic every day!

Yelp
Main Street is the CUTEST. They really got all the details down perfectly to give it that 1950s feel. Even though it's all just one giant store, each little faux-storefront is done up like a fortune teller or a jewelry shop, and it looks so realistic that you're almost disappointed when you walk in and it's a Mickey Mouse T-shirt. I mean, not really though, because those T-shirt's are hella cute. The candy shop is where it's AT, though - the caramel apples are decorated SO CUTE I can't even eat them because I just want to instagram them forever. Main Street is a great place to duck in and get some air conditioning in between rides, and I DARE YOU not to spend $100 on souvenirs while you're there. You will, it'll be worth it, you're welcome.

Yelp
The new disability rule at Disneyland is awful with a cane you have to wait in the regular line people will fall and pass out waiting for a long time i do not recommend taking anyone in a wheelchair or cane anymore. The few who abused the privilege ruined it for so many who needed a little happiness in their lives

Janet H.

Yelp
the cast members in this area are very rude some are nice one in particular named Max made some inappropriate gestures to another cast member, donald and goofy are amazing!
