Maironis Museum of Lithuanian Literature

Our visit to the museum was an amazing and spontaneous experience! I want to extend heartfelt thanks to the extremely friendly and skilled museum staff, who provided us with such insightful information and engaging exhibits. The team is impressively multilingual, speaking Lithuanian, English, German, and Russian. Additionally, it’s wonderful that Ukrainian citizens can visit for free. Thank you, Lithuania, for your generous support! 🇱🇹🇺🇦❤️ The museum features three distinct sections where visitors can explore Lithuanian literature from various perspectives: its historical development, the significant contributions of Maironis to Lithuanian culture, the works of exiled authors, and contemporary literary insights. The exhibitions are interactive and well-digitalized, enhancing the overall experience. This museum is a fantastic destination for individuals and families with children alike. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

Super nice, interactive, interesting museum. Hours flew and I wanted to stay and get more inspired. LOVED the atmosphere, the new attitude, many activities and the garden... I'll most certainly visit it in May when all will be blooming :). I LOVED every exhibition for any group of people, creativity, colors, educational cartoons and videos (great animation), structure of museum, easy and playful atmosphere. It was an amazing experience for a small museum and SUPER INSPIRATION that I was looking for. I'd call it "Museum with a big heart". Thanks for amazing time! :) Btw, spoiler allert: big, new exhibition is coming up on May 28th.

The best museum in Kaunas. All exhibitions are well done and staffs are very kind and professional. A must to visit in town.

Excellent museum that (among other things) shows the significant role books played in Lithuanian history. It was a perfect way for our family (aged 11 to 46) to learn about this interesting country.

Breathtaking! The private quarters of the Lithuanian poet Maironis are meticulously restored. According to one of the 5 extremely helpful and friendly staff members, nearly all the exhibits are restored originals. A beautiful and historical insight into the life of one of the most important figures in Lithuania’s literary history. Adding to this experience, this museum features an astounding array of exhibits pertaining to the history of lithuania’s literary history and introduces different historical figures with very tasteful audiovisual elements and several interactive installations. This museum is worth the visit and will suit both children and adults!
