Maison de la Garenne

The Maison de la Garenne & Spa is a B&B which offers five guest rooms in a beautiful, very charming, large country house just outside the city walls of Vannes.||The location is just perfect: it’s only a five minute walk to the restaurants, shops and yacht harbour. And yet you feel being at the country side. The nice garden with a lovely, refreshing swimming pool is an excellent place to relax after a hot day of sight-seeing. ||We had the Terre & Mer suite on the first floor. This guest room consisted of a large, cozy bedroom, a handy adjacent room with a coach/bed for an extra person, a small bathroom and a separate toilet room. ||Breakfast was excellent and you’re well looked after by a very helpful waitress, who can assist you with any additional breakfast request. Christine, who temporarily took over from the owners who were off on a one week vacation, was an excellent host with good advice on restaurants and sightseeing destinations.||Make sure you reserve a parking spot for your car as only three spaces are available in front of the house behind the green gate. There’s a public parking (St. Joseph) just behind the wall of the B&B, but it was always fully utilised during the three days we’ve stayed at the B&B. Most parkings close to the city centre seem to be full during the high season. ||I would have loved to give a five-star review, but the absence of a decent shower in the bathroom was quite a disappointment (not even a shower curtain to keep the bathroom dry). The bathtub is a rather small one too. The absence of airco should normally not represent an issue in Brittany, but I must say that the room becomes quite hot late afternoon on warm summer days. Note however that a fan is at your disposal. This is a bit of a shortfall for a suite, I feel. ||But do not misunderstand me, this is a great B&B! Excellent address.

Christine and Antoine are gracious hosts as well as being very helpful. We had the red room on the entry level. Great bed, a/c worked well on a hot day, nice shower - breakfast was delightful. The house is just across the street from one of the main gates into Vannes on the garden side of the ramparts. You can’t go wrong with a stay at Maison de La Garenne. Top notch. Will stay again next visit to Vannes.

A huge thank you to our host for being so accommodating and gracious upon our late arrival. Travel mishaps left us without signal, internet, and even one phone not working at all. Rather stressful! Yet the moment we entered through the gates, we were swept away by the sheer beauty of the property and the warmth of our welcome. The house was filled with a gorgeous, refined fragrance, and our room smelled absolutely divine—instantly soothing and luxurious but on no way protectious. Just fabulous. The interiors were exquisite, the amenities superb, and breakfast was a delight. Plenty of coffee, teas, fresh juices and lots to choose for breakfast. Staff were not only attentive but also full of thoughtful, local recommendations. We felt completely at ease and utterly welcomed from the moment we arrived. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the spa facilities that are on offer but we did have a mooch in the tranquil garden. If we're ever to visit Vannes we will no doubt be staying here again.

We had stayed here in October 2024; for 5 nights. Christine and her staff are super friendly and amazing. The breakfast options are amazing, there is always fresh croissants and bread to choose from! This location is ideal as everything; the city shopping and the port is walking distance and easy access to train stations as well. Would love to come back and stay here again. As others have stated, this is a wonderful place to stay. Ideal location, large comfortable room, beautiful garden, kind people. Really a wonderful experience.

Excellent location, walking distance to all of Vannes’ restaurants and attractions. I stayed in the Red Sail Room, which has a private yard area. It’s super Clean, bright, with a huge bathtub and amenities. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and owner Christine was warm and eager to take egg orders. Christine and her husband Antoine were available to provide recommendations of restaurants and help find a gas station or taxi to the train station. I thoroughly enjoyed my weeklong stay and would love to go back.

Maison de la Garenne is top to bottom the best B&B in Vannes. The location is ideal, a short walk to the old walled city. Accommodations and breakfasts are excellent. And, perhaps most important, the hosts are especially knowledgeable, gracious, and helpful in selecting restaurants and sites to visit. Weather did not permit us to take advantage of the pool and beautiful grounds. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel/guest house personally operated by the hospitable owners. Maison de la Garenne is centrally located, offers wholesome breakfast, and my lovely room was clean and bright on the 2nd floor. I walked 20 minutes directly from the train station to the hotel and a 5 minute walk into the center of the village. I would be delighted to come back.
