Maison d'hôtes Anne Fouquet

Having read all previous tripadvisor recommendations for 'La Maison d'Hotes Anne Fouquet' I had high expectations! Not only were they met, - but probably surpassed!!||This guesthouse is an absolute gem! The house itself is beautiful, with the most amazing views across the valley, and with only 3 guestrooms is a source of peace and tranquility. The rooms are very spacious, with wonderful showers, A/C, and lovely robes and slippers to lounge around in! Breakfast was outstanding with freshly prepared fruits, yogurts, juices, quiche, croissants, breads, jams etc. Can it get better?..well yes, because as many other guests have commented, the highlight of staying here is what an amazing hostess Anne is. From initial booking contact, she was so responsive and helpful with all my questions, and recommendations and restaurant reservations. She is a wealth of information on the area, which she is passionate about and only too happy to share! (even where to get the best homemade ice-cream!!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and intend to return again. Cannot recommend 'La Maison d'Hotes Anne Fouquet' highly enough - it is perfect in every way! - just book it!

My wife and I just returned from two weeks in France. The highlight of our trip was our visit to the Dordogne valley and our stay with Anne Fouquet. Her home is just beautifully laid out on a hillside overlooking walnut groves. It is totally modern with a large living room where she services breakfast. Anne made us feel at home from the minute we arrived and arranged diners and site seeing for us for the three days we were there. The other guests were most congenial which only enhanced the experience. This area is so beautiful that I think it would have been our favorite anyway, but I'm sure that Anne at least doubled our experience. Thank you Anne.

I cannot say enough about Anne and her home in the Dordogne area. The location is perfect - in the countryside away from tour buses and traffic but only minutes to restaurants, etc. Anne's hospitality and kindness is what makes this place special. Her rooms are in a separate building from her home so you have privacy but if you need anything she is the home next door on the same property. The rooms are quiet, spacious and the views are magnificent with large windows that look onto the Dordogne valley with the early morning fog is something to see especially when you see the hot air balloons in the air. Her recommendations for places to eat are perfect for the area and we have enjoyed every meal at the restaurants she has booked for us. You can choose to have breakfast in the morning (cost extra) or not in the common area that has a lovely balcony. We will not stay anywhere else but with Anne and will return to finish our visit in the Dordogne Valley. Merci.

This was a repeat visit based on our wonderful experience in 2018. Everything was just as wonderful this year. The weather was exceptional the week we were there (42 degrees on at least 2 days!)...however once you entered the guesthouse, the air conditioning was amazing and provided a welcome relief from the intense heat. This, - combined with the most comfortable beds ever, meant we both felt we had the best quality sleep we had experienced in months. Annes guesthouse really is a beautiful refuge of tranquility which just allows you to relax and slow down the pace of life. On top of all that, - you have the mine of information and assistance that is Anne Fouquet!! Any recommendation or assistance you need, - Anne will be two steps ahead of you! This was a great visit in the gourmet region of France. The place was very nice and with all the necessary comforts. Exceptionally clean. Our host treated us like family she is amazing. Anne prepared an EXCEPTIONAL breakfast every day for us with tips for our day when we discussed what we wanted to do. There is loads to do in the area, wine tasting, food, beautiful villages, castles and amazing markets. Could have stayed longer :)

She is such a charming, sweet, and knowledgeable hostess, and her exquisite brand new ultra modern guest house is so beautifully designed and comfortable. We have been here for nine days, surrounded by castles, forests and medieval towns, and we have hardly scratched the surface of this incredible area. |Visit this picturesque ancient region of France, and stay with Anne Fouquet for an experience far beyond your expectations. |

Yes, all the raving reviews were correct. When we walked into the room, all we could say was "WOW" when we saw the room and the view. This by far was the most spacious & modern room of our trip. Anne provided all the needed as well as the splurge items we could think of. Anne was so patient with my rusty 40 year old French and spoke excellent English herself. She not only made suggestions but the called restaurants to book a table for us for dinner. They turned out to be 2 of the most fabulous dinners in our two week stay in France. I will be writing her to see if she can get me the recipe for one incredible chocolate & peanut butter dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast made by Anne one morning & took in the Saturday morning market in Sarlat the other. To sum up our stay, as we left my husband said "I could come back & stay here a month!"

We recently visited La Roque-Gageac and had the good fortune to find Maison Anne Fouquet on Trip Advisor. We sure lucked out finding these accomodations.||Situated about 2 minutes from the center of La Roque-Gageac by car, the Maison is not in the middle of town, but rather up on a hill a couple of kilometers away (theoretically walkable to town but not really in the pitch black of the countryside after dinner). The balcony and rooms have an astounding view of the Dordogne countryside, replete with hot air balloons that launch from nearby. There is a Carrefour Contact supermarket to buy groceries/wine/Quinqui (walnut aperitif from the area that tastes a little like red vermouth) about 3 km away in the neighboring city of Ceynac with a handy gas station right across the street. The walled city of Domme is 5 minutes away, and Sarlat is 15 minutes away. In other words, there are a plethora of restaurants within an easy 15 minute drive so it'll be impossible to go hungry! ||Staying at the Maison Anne Fouquet was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip to France. It was so relaxing and peaceful, and with Anne, who's residence is next door, wanting to make sure our needs were being met, it was more like visiting a friend rather than being in a guesthouse. The accomodations were spotless, glistening, and looked brand new. Beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable and we got a great sleep since there was no noise. Anne gave us some restaurant recommendations a few months before we arrived, so I emailed and reserved tables a month prior to our arrival (even in low season, La Belle Etoile and O'Plaisir des Sens wouldn't have been able to accomodate walk-ins, so reservations are a must). ||||The next time we are back in France, we pledged to rent out Anne's guesthouse for a week so we can have 6 full days to spend in Dordogne (3 full days was definitely not enough). Then we can take advantage of truly relaxing in the countryside. Note: The first of October started low season, so many attractions had later opening and earlier closing times. In fact, some of the touristy activities were closed until the spring. These were mainly shows and activities that were inside other tourist sites. All of the main Grottes and Gouffres were open. The advantage was that there were hardly any crowds anywhere we went. Canoeing down the Dordogne, we saw 2 other canoes in the 9 mile trip from Vitrac to Beynac. We saw the most foreigners at Lascaux IV and at the Wednesday market in Sarlat. I couldn't imagine this area being overrun with tourists, like it is during the summer.
