Just returned from a wonderful night at Chateau du Romerel. We arrived in the beautiful village of Saint Valery sur Somme and were enchanted on arrival at the Chateau. It was lovely not to have to worry about parking for our stay and even though we arrived early, we were able to check in, which was much appreciated.||The house is peaceful and serene and decorated tastefully. Our bedrooms were large and very comfortable with enormous beds. It was actually lovely NOT to have a television in the bedroom - it ensured a complete switch off which everyone needs these days. ||The breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. Asma looked after us beautifully throughout and made the stay even more special. Thank you.

Key message is to read the 'small print'! The white 'chateau' building in all the promotional photos is beautiful. However, the 'Idyll' studio where we stayed is actually situated in an old outbuilding, some distance from the main house, which is currently undergoing renovation. Not at all what we had hoped for.|We were well looked after in the main house at breakfast by Asma, so no complaints about the service provided. I just think the website should be more upfront about the fact that quite different types of accommodation are provided here.

This chateau home is quietly nestled away in a park in scenic Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, off the main road. We enjoyed the 3-person (2-room) suite on the second floor, with its extremely comfortable beds and quiet, natural setting. Hostess Justine took care of all our needs. Breakfast is plentiful in the morning, including the home's very own made apple juice. Amble private parking on the grounds. Amazing to imagine that Napoleon was hosted in this chateau's reception (reading) room on 25 June 1803. There is a fun mini-golf course across the street, but do not recommend renting the cafe's shoddy bikes. Try the outstanding "Schorre" restaurant in town (reservations required).

Saint Valery sur Somme is a truly French resort nestled next to the Somme River with this jewel set back off the main street in its own vast lawned and wooded estate. We had rooms both in the Chateau and ours 'Idylle' in a wooded area next to the 25 metre indoor swimming pool and its own car park and a short walk down steps to the Chateau. We had a microwave, fridge, utensils, cutlery and a kitchen sink and afterwards a television. The beds were very comfortable and settees and desk chairs as well. The staff were very welcoming and provided an excellent continental breakfast. We will definitely be returning to renew our aquaintance.

We stayed at the Château to break our journey back to the Tunnel and so delighted that we did. The château is in the town but in very pleasant grounds. The rooms are traditional French style but with every amenity that you want. ||All of the staff were absolutely charming and could not be more friendly or helpful. ||The highlight was dinner in the evening. Three courses, without choice, and each of them superb. It was preceded by a glass of truly excellent Champagne. The duck and foie gras salad starter was was light but full of lovely flavours. The main of pollock in a cream sauce with dainty vegetables was refined and beautifully balanced. The peach clafoutis was a wonderful sweet treat to end the meal. The wine choice was small but included a fabulous Burgundy. ||We stayed at the hotel almost by accident but will definitely return.

We loved most everything about this gem in NW France! The town of St Valery sur Somme, in which the hotel is in the centre, is a beautiful small village on the banks of the Somme where new meets old architecture, some fabulous restaurants, great cycling and walking.||The hotel is an oasis of calm with huge gardens, beautifully maintained, and public rooms which are also and beautifully decorated to boot.||Our bedroom was quirky yet everything had been thought about and the bed wonderfully comfortable. We had a wonderful nights sleep.||We opted to order dinner as it was intriguing to be told “no menu as depended upon market”. The small dining room is superb, our wonderful host a lovely lady for whom nothing was too much trouble. The dinner was salmon, chicken and strawberry tart. It was well cooked and beautifully presented but, unfortunately, it lacked any finesse or ambition and, unfortunately, I can get these ingredients anywhere! Where were the shellfish or the fish that the local poissonierre had in abundance, just 200 years from the gate, and which the area is famous for?||We cannot wait to return for a couple of nights of comfort and hospitality, and to visit the restaurants in the town!!

What a nice weekend. We spent a very relaxing time in Romerel castle. Our room had a nice view on the park and the estuary. It was well furnished with antique furnitures. All look like we went back in time (and no tv in the room!). We rented electrical bikes (Total gas station), and it was really enjoyable to spend some time next to the fire place after our long bike ride. Breakfast was also a blast. On Sunday, we walked to the market square from the castle.||Last but not least, staff was extremely helpful and nice.

Stayed here for two nights not what we were expecting hostess pleasant however no one is in the chateau at night just a telephone number. The chateau itself needs some maintenance and care bed was a zip together one side the mattress had collapsed the sofas in the lounge need replacing. Only breakfast was offered but on reading other reviews it appears meals are available. On the morning we departed the hostesses dressed very smartly and said " she had guests arriving and was cooking a meal for them?|Would I stay here again No far nicer places in Saint Valerie to stay
