I would like to preface this review that I am a hotel snob with very high expectations.| |This was our second visit to this amazing b+b. The location is perfect. About a 10 min walk to the action in the french quarter and a 5 minute walk to the real action on Frenchman street. Gary was the most gracious host. He was unobtrusive yet available. Our room overlooking the courtyard and pool was peaceful and luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were also very high quality. We will continue to stay at Maison du Bois every time we visit NOLA (This was our 4th visit). Thank you Gary and Tom!

I can't overstate how happy we were with Maison DuBois. Our group of friends rented four of the five rooms here for a 4-night stay. We worked with the property owner directly, who was very helpful and gracious, and also very willing to let us do our own thing. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had the Esplanade, which was my favorite, with a king bed and balcony, but all were good. The pool! That backyard is a serene oasis of happiness. We swam and hot-tubbed and just hung out (with plastic cups, of course!) at the pool several times. It's a private home, for adults, so no noise, running, kids having questionable functions in the hot tub or other reasons you avoid hotel pools. The location was perfectly situated near a 24-hour convenience store, complete with local color, the Port of Call for awesome burgers, and a very quick walk to French Quarter and Frenchman Street, where we ended up every night for awesome music. For BnB fans, be forewarned that the breakfast is not a luxury affair, but a simple spread of commercial bread and cereals, fruits, yogurt, etc. No problem for our group, as we were happy to explore the excellent local restaurants without being too full. |I spent a huge amount of time researching NOLA hotels and AirBnB's, and I was apprehensive that someone in our group would be unhappy but in fact we were all thrilled with our find. This is an excellent choice for a group of people who are old enough to respect others' property but still young enough to party with the best of them. I will definitely return.|The only tiny complaint we had was with the confounded shutters on the front door, whose only purpose seemed to be a sobriety check.

Location was great. House was roomy and had absolutely everything we needed. We did have some maintenance issues, some were fixed when we called other’s issues needed a contractor. Overall a pleasant stay. There are some really nice neighborhood restaurants close by which was perfect. Walking distance to all the fun!

We recently visited New Orleans and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming B&B near the French Quarter. Gary made us feel welcome and was very helpful in getting us familiar with the local area and providing tips for cafes, bars and restaurants. |Our room was clean and comfortable and the garden and pool setting was quiet and nice to come home to after a day of exploring. Perfectly located, I would recommend Maison DuBois to anyone looking for some Southern hospitality.

This is a bed and breakfast which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the bars in the Bourbon Street area. About 5 minutes for Frenchmen Street. Perfectly located - away from the noise but easy enough to walk to from either places of interest. ||We were greeted by Tom and checked into the Dauphine/Marigny suite. This has two rooms (one with a double bed and the second with two twin beds) with a bathroom in the middle of the two rooms. Both rooms were large enough to accommodate two adults each and the beds were comfortable. ||We stayed there for 3 nights before moving to the Esplanade Room. This overlooks the balcony with the swimming pool and hot tub below. ||Breakfast is a very decent affair and while there is no hot food on offer, the boiled eggs are a nice touch and with all the bagels, croissants, yoghurt, cereal etc, there is enough to keep you going for a while. ||There is parking available on the road and, subject to availability, a parking permit is provided.||There is a small pool and a hot tub, and they make for a relaxing break after walking around the city!||Tom and Greg are both extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area. ||We would highly recommend the B&B and will definitely want to come back to it in the future.

My husband went on a guys trip and stayed at the Maison Dubois last weekend. They paid over 7k to stay at this home and they were NOT safe. ||This home DOES NOT have a garage despite the pictures. My husband left his car in the driveway to his dismay and came out the next morning to see two of his tires had been slashed. He’s pretty level headed and chalked it up to bad luck and some teenagers up to no good. He paid $600 to have the tires replaced. ||On the second night, he parked across from the house just in case and came back the next morning to see that now ALL FOUR tires (including the two brand new ones) had been slashed and the windshield was shattered. Now he was terrified knowing it was targeted attack. ||Him and his friends reached out to the host immediately asking for the ring doorbell footage. So now he’s down 2k on tires alone and THE HOST REFUSES to send the footage (likely because they don’t pay for subscription or maybe even worse, they were a part of it)||Needless to say, they were all terrified for their whole stay, lost a bunch of money and this host is trash to say the least. Do not stay here…||Look at these photos and decide for yourself

Location was great for Jazz Fest, but everything else was downhill from there. The place is just oddly appointed. The main suites are upstairs, where there is a nice sized dining room and parlor area, but the upstairs kitchen has nothing but a fridge and a microwave, no stove, and few supplies otherwise. There are two bedrooms in the basement where the larger kitchen is, but that kitchen is unbelievably poorly supplied, as if the owners expect no one to be cooking there. This proved to be a bit of a problem. The laundry room was full of washed and unwashed laundry, but you couldn't tell which was which. The upstairs suites are separated by doors, but ambient light comes in all over the place, and you can hear even the slightest noise through the doors, which was perhaps among the most unpleasant issues. No mattress cover, just one sheet over bare mattress. No wastebasket or rug in bathroom; little inconveniences like that were common. Pool area was nice enough. All in all a very weird place, and would never had spent the money we did knowing what we learned upon arrival. They had apparently changed it from a B and B to a rental type of situation, but never bothered to change their rules and regulations booklets or their little information cards to reflect that, which said that breakfast would be served at 8 AM and that sheets could be changed upon request.

Super convenient location, full of olde worlde charm. Has a small pool and jacuzzi out back. |Comfortably appointed and staff come and go like ghosts, leaving you to enjoy the surroundings.||Breakfast would arrive in the form of pastries, sweets and fruit. Put it in the fridge if you want to keep it for later!||Fresh coffee on tap, it's like staying at a friend's house who has lent you the keys!||Easy walking distance into French Quarter and close to the buzzy Freshman Street. Be sure to try Port of Call on the opposite corner for burgers and steaks! Much cheaper than in town! Walk in for drinks afterwards!!||Overall I rate 4 stars but you'll love it just as we have!! Thanks Rachel for a fabulous stay in your gorgeous home!!

Yelp
We spent our honeymoon in New Orleans and stayed at the Maison Dubois. It was nothing less than amazing!!! The house is GORGEOUS, the pool is stunning and the hospitality that Gary and Tom gave us was beyond anything we could have ever imagined. We felt instantly at home. We loved everything from breakfast with Tom to "stoopin" with Gary. Gary's attention to detail and that sweet Southern charm of his had us hook, line and sinker. Maison Dubois is conveniently located and within walking distance to everything you'll want to see in New Orleans. We've stayed at several B&B's across the country and this one by far is our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!! Gary, Tom...THANK YOU!!! We will be back soon..trust me!!!

Yelp
This was my first B&B stay in New Orleans. We stayed in the "Orleans" room which had a nice queen sized bed, sitting area and a balcony that overlooks the beautiful saltwater pool. I have to say, right off the bat that communication with the host, Tom was above and beyond. I received an email from him within a day or two and he asked me for our flight information. Our flight was arriving on a Friday morning a 6am and he was kind enough to let us come that early to the B&B where he was already waiting for us outside so that he could let us in and we were able to stow our bags in the house and return for check in since there were still guests in our room, understandable at 6am of course! When we finally did return to check in, he made sure our TV was working and showed us how to use all three keys because you have a key to your door, a key to the balcony doors and a key to the main house since it's not open but to only the people staying there. Like the other reviewer mentioned, the food is nothing to rave about but being that it IS New Orleans, I think most vacationers intend on going into town to eat with all the delicious restaurants nearby! The location is perfect in that it is right by Frenchman St where there are plenty of live jazz / restaurant combos but also just walking distance of Bourbon St without being ON Bourbon Street so that you can actually sleep at night. Each time we came back to our room, it was always quiet and we only ran into guests one morning as we were headed out very briefly in the kitchen. No issues with the rooms being in close proximity of each other but perhaps with noisy neighbors, it may pose an issue? The pool/Jacuzzi is gorgeous but we didn't utilize either since it was raining the whole time we were there, besides we were too busy eating our way through New Orleans. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the host was gracious. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I only shortened one star b/c the multiple keys are a bit inconvenient and the lack of emphasis on the "Breakfast" of what "B&B"s are known for..."Bed" and "Breakfast" but as mentioned, PLENTY of dining options in town!
