Perhaps our expectations were set too high based on the number of 5 star reviews the Maison Fiset has received, but we were very disappointed with this property, where we spent three nights on a recent trip to Nova Scotia.|We booked the La Plage A – described as “a touch of maritime luxury”. While the building was new, or recently refurbished, and impeccably clean, it was situated at the rear of the parking lot behind the main house. The view was of the parking lot, picture attached. Not what we were expecting from a “luxury” five star rated property.|The view from the main house was of the Cheticamp harbor, which was more pleasant than the parking lot, but partially obstructed by unsightly grocery and building materials stores across the street and a few hundred meters north of the Maison Fiset. These structures effectively blocked any view of the harbor opening to the sea.|Our unit had a strong, musty smell, which could be partially mitigated only by leaving the windows open all day and night, which created a different set of issues. Nadine, the manager, suggested we leave all windows closed and just run the a/c.. this did not work at all.|The breakfast buffet was average at best, homemade scones and muffins were quite good, but other offerings were limited|Nadine and Hillary proved to be excellent hosts, friendly, welcoming, helpful and responsive, but the rest of the experience fell far short of expectations. |We would definitely not stay at the Maison Fiset again
