Maison Fleurie was a great choice for my wife and me to stay in Yountville as we made the rounds to multiple wineries in Napa Valley. Part of the appeal of Maison Fleurie is its quaint French-chateau-styled building, interior, and fixtures, combined with its easy walking distance to multiple restaurants on the main street a block over -- with one restaurant (one of which is owned by Thomas Keller) the second to next property south of the inn.
There are two ways to enter the inn. One through the front door that goes into the main seating area, with the steps to the dining room to the far right, the receptionist room straight ahead, and a flight of stairs that goes up to the second floor of rooms. Two through the north-side entrance that comes from the gravel parking lot area. The dining room has a lovely coffee table filled with previously used corks from open bottles of wine. They have a fireplace, which for a South Floridian is quite a novelty so we don't need them down in our parts.
Overall, there are rooms in the main house, which comprises three floors, and a secondary house with more deluxe suites. I didn't see a swimming pool on the property from our perusing of the property, but we were very happy with the hot tub, which we used mostly at night when it was a little cooler (since we came in the summer where it was fairly warm for Central California standards -- the temperature rose to the mid-90s, breaking 100 on one of the days). The second floor has a nice outdoor terrace to sit and relax with some wine, especially during the evenings.
Our room was quite small but charming, with its plush queen-sized bed, enough closet space and door hooks to hang clothes, and a dresser to put the rest of our stuff that didn't need to be hung. Our sink was in the main bedroom with the narrow bathroom consisting of a standing shower and toilet. We were fine with the accommodations as we spent most of our time touring the wineries and waltzing around Yountville.
We had a lovely welcome note from the inn, with a plate of cookies when we arrived. The inn does wine hour every afternoon between 5 PM and 6 PM (it might have been 4 PM to 6 PM, but I can't remember), where you can enjoy complimentary wine and charcuterie before you head off for dinner. Additionally, they have complimentary breakfast every morning, of which we took full advantage so we have something in our stomachs before we went off on our wine-tasting tours.
The service staff was very kind and helpful, especially during breakfast, as they made sure everyone had what they needed based on what was being served between baked goods to toast, fruit and oatmeal, condiments, and whatever main breakfast dish was being served from the hot platters. There's a water cooler in the dining area as well to where you can make sure you have cold water, they also provide complimentary bottles of water when housekeeping makes the bed.
My favorite thing about the inn is its location. There was only one night we dined outside of Yountville on our seven-night stay at Maison Fleurie, and that is when we spent the day in the Calistoga area. The charm of the bed-and-breakfast inn goes hand in hand with the feel and vibes of Yountville. You can walk down the street for no more than a minute and be at a restaurant. Thomas Keller has at least three restaurants that share the same block as Maison Fleurie (no more than a seven-minute walk to Bouchon Bistro and Bouchon Bakery. You can walk around the block and visit the shopping plaza behind Bottega and Coquete, both restaurants where we also dined and enjoyed our experiences. Suppose you are willing to walk in either direction 10 to 15 minutes from the Maison Fleurie. In that case, you can find other restaurants, wine-tasting rooms, a place to rent bicycles (if you don't want to take out one of the bicycles that are available on the Inn property), and small markets for essential goods (and wine). We enjoyed walking up and down the quiet streets and small parks during our stay.
Yountville is an ideal town to stay if you want to explore Napa Valley wineries, and Maison Fleurie is a terrific inn to enjoy your time and have a good night's rest.
