I have stayed in Maison Gautreaux more than 8 times since 2010 and the last time being 2021. I have not complain at all for this price. I normally go by myself, but last time I went with my two children born and raised in USA. My kids had zero complain about this place. The AC works actually extremely well. My daughters were actually complaining that the AC was too cold. We had not issue with mosquitos. The breakfast was great and the coffee is served any time during the day at your own request. You are 1 minute away from El Malecon, yes the ocean with all king of restaurants nearby. For $40 US dollar who can complain? ( they just charged us 40 dollars for use three a night. Also, the person that complain about not having change for 100 pesos, wwwaooo what a cheap person. 100 pesos = 1 dollar and 90 cents. They are cheap people in the planet. I always leave 200 tips for the front desk women. I think she is from Venezuela. And off course, I will be going again in about a month.

Stayed two nights at this hotel. Only two positive things: price and location (near Colonial Zone). Negative points: - Room was not cleaned well. Found stuff and hair of previous guest. - There were ants in the room. - No mirror in the bathroom. - Very simple breakfast: only two sandwiches. - Very slow wifi.

I just needed a place to crash for the night and other hotels were full. The room was elegant and comfortable. More than I needed for a price I was happy to pay, and breakfast was available at no cost. It is more affordable when reserving through Booking.com. Highly recommended.

The room was crawling with roaches! Not so much during the day but AT NIGHT! So much so I started naming them. And they are BIG. They got NY roaches. If you’re staying here, in order to keep them out, you must keep the room cold and have all the lights on. I slept with the lights blaring just so they could go away. I slept with a sleeping mask so that helped. The receptionist always seems like she’s stressed out. She’s not exactly helpful. I purchase breakfast included and I thought they would explain how that works. I didn’t want until last day anyway.. Turns out breakfast is between 8:30-9:30am and you must come out of the room to the lobby. I really don’t know, she vaguely explained. So I paid a little extra for nothing. They do not take card. I booked with Booking.com. Had to break my $100 and received pesos in return. Which was fine cause I used it on UberEats anyway. Check Out is supposedly until 1pm but the receptionist told me 12:30 and I got the feeling she doesn’t want me here anyway lol she always looks annoyed. I wouldn’t recommend this place even if it’s a 3 star hotel. It’s good for a pit stop and I seriously mean like 1-2 days MAX.

Please STAY AWAY!! This hotel it’s SCAM, Immediately I arrived at the hotel, they informed me that there was no Wifi, after 2 hours in the hotel the water had gone, then the air conditioning went off, when I go to the manager, he informed me that they were having problems with electricity, but that They would fix it, which didn't happen and I had to leave, without my money. The heat is unbearable, and the attention is lousy, please stay away from this $h!t.

The room is very outdated and thin walls, you'll hear everything. I didn't stay because the credit card machine was down and I was told to pay cash but that it would be a higher rate...I ended up leaving. If you are using booking.com, just be aware that the pics aren't reality.

The accommodations were fine. The building is beautiful, and the employees were very nice. Complimentary breakfast was satisfying. Wish we had time to explore the area a little more, but were off to Jarabacoa the next morning. Would recommend to savvy travelers.
