The best way to explore Brussels' opulent Art Nouveau past is on a streetcar - SilverKris

"Jules Brunfaut’s only Art Nouveau building, recently reopened as a museum, fuses the owners’ passions into an otherworldly house: an indoor greenhouse that spills into the façade, Symbolist frescoes and bas-relief panels, and striking staircase murals combine to create a richly atmospheric example of turn-of-the-century decorative art." - Clodagh Kinsella

The staircase and frescoes in this historical art nouveau house are so dramatic and beautiful that they put the rest of the house somewhat in the shadow. Restoration works are still ongoing so hopefully soon we can enjoy more of this stunning house but when I visited in July I found the visit to be relatively brief compared to the entrance fee.

Beautiful and lovingly restored this marvel of Art Nouveau is ideal for a short visit. Currently (Autumn 2025) it also houses an eclectic exhibition on Symbolism. I visited on Sunday noon and find a bit crowded, yet managed to thoroughly enjoy it.

A beautiful art nouveau style house. Tickets have timed entry and not open everyday so it is best to book in advance. Well worth the visit.

Beautifully restored- a special space from the bay windows to the sweeping staircase, and the murals. This is one of best Horta houses I’ve seen. The details of the woodwork in the doors, framed windows and the banisters are amazing. Can’t wait till it’s completed and the upper floors are open.

Beautiful art nouveau building. People were super helpful and there is an audio guide for the house. However i think it would be better if it would be more focused in the process of crafting (building and furniture) than the renovation process -which is still interesting and they have a nice explanation.

Gorgeous building the restoration team or anyone involved have done a brilliant jobs so far. Must visit for Anyone who have study architecture/interior/Art. Well explain audio guide with the visit. Visit at the start of opening time if you want some quiet time to soak in the atmosphere of the house, also to take some lovely pictures without much of the visitors In your pictures. The house are still upder restoration until 2030. Here are few teaser photos for anyone who want to visit this house.

Very beatiful house. I loved this place. There are quite a few visitors at a time however. Also the visit should be booked in advance, you can book a visit as part of art noveau pass.

It’s a small visit. There are 5-6 rooms to visit, out of which 3 are on the ground floor and have some replica furniture on display and the rooms above house the exhibitions of art noveau pioneers. The entrance is mesmerizing, with a very large and beautiful fresco along the stairways. The window overlooking the garden( there is no garden now) reminds me of casa batlo in Barcelona. The house is still under renovation which will complete by 2030. After which I guess rest of the wall paintings or wall papers would be restored. I visited on a weekend and the house had many visitors. It’s also interesting how Hammond were not some royalty but normal upper class people who had great interest in architectural art.
