Maison Lodi may be the new name on the sign, but I was a regular when it was Towne Corner.
Back when it was Towne Corner, this spot was hands-down my favorite lunch go-to in town. I came weekly—sometimes more—for one thing: the Reuben sandwich. It was perfectly grilled, loaded with tender corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, and melty Swiss, all on toasted rye. But what really sealed the deal? The fries. Their in-house cut French fries were the best in town—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and just salty enough. Honestly, I still think about those fries.
Now that the restaurant has transitioned into Maison Lodi, the vibe is a bit more elevated and the menu has changed, but there are still things to love. The new pastrami sandwich is solid—rich, flavorful, and satisfying—but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss that classic Reuben. And more than anything, I’m really hoping they bring back those fries. They were a staple and deserve a comeback.
Maison Lodi does have a few bright spots that make it worth visiting. Their desserts are decent, and they’ve got a nice little snack case with treats and pastries that are perfect for grabbing on the go. The space itself still has that charming, casual vibe, and the staff has always been friendly and welcoming.
All in all, while I miss a few things from the Towne Corner days, I’m still rooting for Maison Lodi to hit its stride. Just… please bring those fries back. Lodi needs them.
