easily one of the most exciting Asian street-food spots in Queens. This is the kind of place that reminds you why NYC food culture is untouchable.
Let’s start with the Larb Karaage fried chicken thighs I’m not exaggerating when I say this might be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my entire life. Perfectly crispy on the outside, insanely juicy inside, and packed with flavor. The seasoning feels Vietnamese-inspired, while the sauce hits with what tastes like a Filipino influence savory, tangy, slightly funky in the best way. It’s a genius cross-culture dish that absolutely slaps.
What makes Maison Mekong special is how they blend three Asian street-food cultures filipino, Thai and Vietnamese into one cohesive, deeply flavorful menu. Nothing feels forced. Everything feels intentional.
I also had the pork sisig, which was unreal. Chopped pork belly, sautéed perfectly, crispy in spots, tender in others, and loaded with bold Filipino spices. It’s rich, satisfying, and dangerously addictive. Every bite tastes fresh, hot, and made with care, Also had the butter shrimp those were amazing too.
This place is family-owned and family-run, and you can feel that energy in the food. Everything comes out super fresh, perfectly seasoned, and full of soul. The spices are layered, not overwhelming—just balanced, confident cooking.
On top of that, they’ve got a solid drink selection, fun cocktails, and real coconut water, which is a huge plus and a perfect match with the bold flavors.
Maison Mekong is a must-visit Astoria restaurant. Incredible fried chicken, standout Filipino dishes, beautiful Southeast Asian flavors, and a genuine family-run vibe. This is not hype food—this is the real deal.
If you’re in Queens and you don’t eat here, you’re doing it wrong. 🔥 they also have a all day 90’s Hip Hop and R&B playlist on the speakers makes it worth to come all the way from Harlem to eat here.
