"Maison Messmer, the summer residence of Kaiser Wilhelm I, has been modernized into a five-star hotel with a Roman-style spa, offering stunning views of the Black Forest. It includes a suite with an in-room sauna and has recently renovated its spa to include new treatments."

We were originally only going to stay one night but we loved it so much we stayed nearly a week. The staff treats you like royalty and everyone is so kind and accommodating. The corner suits are super nice and worth the extra cost. The room service is pricey but good quality. And you can't beat the location. The only negative thing I have to say is the laundry was crazy expensive but I knew that before hand and decided to pay for the convenience of not having to go anywhere. Breakfast is also phenomenal for being buffet style. Can't recommend enough.

Just stunning, especially the staff, NOTHING was too much, can we get you a drink? Can we park your car? Plenty of staff always around the whole hotel. English language perfection helped too. The public underground car park can get busy and is a bit tight but all good. We will be back!

Good hotel, great location. Loved the spa (included). The rooms were nice enough, the pillows were old and lumpy. The breakfast was just okay. Could’ve been better for a luxury hotel. Overall, a good stay, good service.

This is a very nice place to relax, and get away for a weekend. It's roughly a 15 minute drive from the train station, so you can either use a taxi or use a public bus, which takes more like 30 mins (and you'll walk a bit). The rooms are clean and presentable, and the service everywhere in the hotel is excellent. The spa offers a wide range of services, I absolutely love the indoor pool (also has a bar), the front desk is professional and courteous, and the food is quite good too. If you do the chef's three course meal for the additional 62 euros, it's a good deal, but you'll have much less to choose from, and you might get an entree you don't like. The appetizers and dessert for the chef's menu were delicious, but the entree (venison goulash) with the pinot noir pairing was not very good at all, really my only complaint here. The breakfast buffet in the morning is really good, one of the best I've seen at a hotel. This place is quite expensive, but not too outrageous ,and I'd say it's worth it. I'll definitely come back for a weekend in the future.

We stayed 3 nights here in between our cycling trips in Europe. It was a splurge and quite worth it! We had a superior room with a terrace and the room was spacious and very comfy. The staff were very friendly and we really enjoyed the expansive breakfast buffet. Our friend celebrated her birthday and they took care to wish her a happy birthday and give us a surprise cake w candle - so nice! We also took advantage of the spa w pool and sauna - very convenient. The hotel location made it easy to explore the heart of the city. My only concern was the poor quality of the WiFI - very unstable and low rate when connected. They said they were aware and working to fix it.

Good location, but that’s about it. Doesn’t deserve the 5 stars. After we went to the parking to store our luggage, a blonde younger receptionist followed us to say we didn’t pay yet. However, the father of our group had already mentioned he was going to pay once he came back from his walk. Really unprofessional that you are followed to a parking, given a filthy look and acted like you are thieves. Room was not what we payed for. There were no bathrobes or slippers in our rooms. Minibar only had salted nuts. Sink was broken and glued back together. Roomservice had a fee of 7 euros. Almost nobody was eating at the hotel (dinner), so also not a good sign. Town is known for wellness, but the pool was closed for a whole week? Just all in all a unfriendly staff and not what you pay for. Avoid this place and get your money’s worth elsewhere.

Hotel Review: Maison Messmer, Baden-Baden||I recently stayed at Maison Messmer in Baden-Baden and overall had a pleasant experience, though there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. Here’s a breakdown of my stay:||The Good:|The staff at Maison Messmer truly stood out, offering excellent service from the reception desk to the breakfast and restaurant teams. Their professionalism and attentiveness made a great first impression. The rooms were impeccably clean and tastefully decorated, reflecting the luxury you’d expect from a five-star property. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Baden-Baden. Being able to walk anywhere and enjoy the beautiful surrounding parks added so much to our stay.||The OK:|While the hotel does meet the standards of a luxury collection property, I did find that the experience lacked a personal touch. Despite its five-star status, I felt more like just another guest rather than someone enjoying a tailored luxury experience. This is an area where the hotel could make improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.||Room for Improvement:|The spa is undoubtedly beautiful and well-designed, but it falls short in one crucial aspect—comfort. There are no chairs or loungers available for guests to take a quick nap or rest between sauna sessions or after a swim. I found myself having to stand or simply sit at the bar while waiting for the next sauna, which detracted from the relaxation experience.||As a Mexican living in Germany, I understand that this might be a cultural difference, but I was a bit disappointed when celebrating my birthday at the hotel. I had requested some special room decorations or a small gesture, but the hotel was unable to accommodate this. It would be nice if the hotel could offer these kinds of personal touches, especially for special occasions.||Final Thoughts:|Maison Messmer is an excellent choice for a short getaway, especially if you’re looking for a weekend escape. The location, cleanliness, and service are top-notch, making it a worthwhile stay for two nights. However, if you’re seeking a highly personalized experience or top-tier spa comfort, there might be some room for improvement.|For more photos of my stay at Maison Messmer and more hotels follow my Instagram account @Book_The_Room

Maison Messmer is a beautiful hotel that exudes elegance and charm. The decor is sophisticated, and the atmosphere is inviting, making it a lovely place to stay. The rooms are chic and beautifully classical, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring the area. One of the highlights of my visit was the spa, which is a must-try! It offers a range of rejuvenating treatments and a tranquil environment that perfectly complements the hotel’s luxurious vibe. However, I found the service to be lacking. While the staff were generally friendly, they didn’t seem as attentive as I expected from a hotel of this caliber. There were times when requests took longer than anticipated, which detracted from the overall experience. The location is excellent, situated near many of Baden-Baden's attractions, making it convenient for sightseeing. The dining options are decent, but again, the service did not match the quality of the hotel itself. Overall, Maison Messmer has a lot of potential with its stunning ambiance, great location, and fantastic spa, but improvements in service would elevate the experience significantly. I hope they can address this, as it could be an exceptional destination for travelers.
