Maison Messmer Baden-Baden - Hommage Luxury Hotels Collection

Not a 5-star experience — very disappointing honeymoon stay My husband and I spent three nights here for our honeymoon, and it was far below the standard expected from a 5-star hotel. No proper information at check-in, the wellness facilities were poorly managed. We couldn’t book any treatments, staff were rude and unhelpful, lockers were unsecured, and the saunas started shutting down before the advertised closing time. For £1,176, the hotel felt outdated, understaffed, and not worth the price. Sadly, we would not return or recommend this hotel.

The location is excellent and affords an easy walk right into town. The underground parking is tight for a larger car but you can squeeze in, it was busy when we visited. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast a good selection. Rooms were good and adequate.

In May of 2025, we enjoyed our second stay at the Maison Messmer. It was another wonderful experience on every level. The front desk staff was gracious, professional and accommodating. On both of our visits, our rooms had a city view with a small balcony. We highly recommend that choice. Our rooms were spotless, well-appointed and quiet. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough.||The Messmer location was perfect for us. The City Center is historic, with the Casino, shops and restaurants and garden paths along the small river. A priority for us is the short comfortable walk to the spas at Friedrichsbad and Carcalla. The front desk provided a spa bag with towels and discounts for both spas. ||Parking is directly under the Messmer and is secure with ample, large spaces. On our first trip, we were driving our new vehicle and that was an important consideration.||We dined casually in the lobby bar and in the upscale and highly rated J. B. Messmer restaurant and were very pleased with both for quality, choices and service. Tables in the Messmer are spaced apart and allow for good conversation. Breakfast is a classic European buffet with lots of offerings. Service again was impeccable.||We dined in the new Theater Kellern, again great service, a romantic setting and great French cuisine. ||The Spa area is on the lower floor and while small, is well done. A beautiful indoor pool and whirlpool is very quiet. A separate sauna area has Kneipp footbaths, spotless tiled open showers, two saunas and a fabulous mosaic walled steam bath. During our two stays, we visited the Spa six times and each visit found the spa to be quiet, relaxing, clean and with lots of towels. There were only a few other guests, mostly couples, using the spa facilities. ||All things considered, location, room, value, appointments and service, the Messmer is a Baden-Baden favorite and we look forward to our return.

We booked 3 rooms.. check in at 9.30 pm and till 11.30 pm made 10 calls to rectify the AC as in 2 rooms the AC was not working. These are apparently there newly renovated rooms!! Disgrace!!! ||It’s approximately 29-30 degree Celsius outside and the AC is not working but the water is super chilled (15 degree Celsius) and the hot water in the hotel is not working. There is no hot water in any room and they expect us to take a bath with ice cold water. ||The front office manager has no clue and is simply asking us to wait for both AC and water till tomorrow. I fail to understand how did this hotel ever get a 5 star rating. The advice and approach to customers is pathetic!! They not even ready to change the room and asking to wait till tomorrow. It should be a 2 start hotel due to its pathetic service and infrastructure. ||The location is very good due to which they charge a lot for the room but totally NOT worth it!!! ||But never returning back to this hotel!! Highly recommend to stay away unless you want to sweat while sleeping and take a shower with ice cold water and fall sick!!

Excellent Hotel. Staff is super kind and friendly. We felt truely welcome every second of our stay. Pricey but worth every penny. 10/10 would recommend.

I would have expected much more from a five star spa hotel. The following may sound petty but management and future guests should be aware of concerns. Valet parking was advertised but there were none and the municipal parking (admittedly accessible also via the hotel’s separate entrance) was near full. The room was fine, nice quiet aircon, but there were several niggles. In the bathroom the tissue box was empty. No telephone (!) to call housekeeping, room service or front desk. There is a WiFi tablet for info and it still advised the phone numbers. The spa has a small cold water pool but no hot tub. The changing room has a shower but no spin dryer for the swimming trunks or costume. |It is these small things that make one just sufficiently annoyed to write a review…

Stayed here for 3 nights! Good hotel, massive rooms and the best location around. Got the deluxe room with breakfast. The breakfast is avoidable, great places to eat around the hotel.

Just checked out, forgot to order a taxi and the hotel manager & concierge had us personally driven to the train station. Attention to detail and VIP service like this is still well and alive at this wonderful property!! Special thanks to Brian & Martin Benker for the warm accommodations and hospitality!

The hotel and staff of the Dorint in Baden Baden definitely deserves a 5 star rating. When checking in, Isabell who was working the front desk noticed that I was celebrating my birthday(a big one!) the next day. The staff made sure to make my birthday special in many ways. On my birthday, Mr Sablottni, the restaurant manager, greeted me with birthday wishes and seated us in a private room for my birthday breakfast. A very decadent chocolate birthday cake was delivered to me during our breakfast. Later, champagne & cake was delivered to our room for us to enjoy on our spacious balcony overlooking the city of Baden Baden. During our stay, all of the staff went out of their way to help us with directions, recommendations, and reservations. I was very pleased with our hotel room which was spacious and updated. The hotel's location is convenient for walking to restaurants and shops in Baden Baden. We have stayed in many luxury hotels and the Dorint in Baden Baden is my favorite!

Absolutely amazing hotel in the historical part of city a few mins away from any attractions! I'm here for several days already. Everyone is friendly and ready to help with anything. First morning I couldn't use navigation in rented car, man from the front desk came out and set it up. Right now I'm watching old Russian couple at the breakfast. Hotel sent Russian speaking guy to help them to make sure they are comfortable. Unbelievable! This place keep surprising me with level of comfort and how clean and well organized everything is here. All little details are done with love and smart way for customers. Bedding is hypoallergenic and comfortable. My room has beautiful view and a little balcony. I enjoyed pool, spa and face&body massage. Katrin is very professional and polite. Spa area is spotless also. Everyone I met outside was friendly, helpful and not irritated by tourists. I'm in love with Germany

Avoid this hotel at all cost. Especially if you don't know German. Only one lady spoke a little bit of English. When we got here, we had a free upgrade so she showed us a room that was nothing like the one we booked nor did it look like the level above it. Half of the place you could say is renovated but they can not put an air continent in the rooms so they have split vents with a tube coming out the window. That was the upgraded room, we said no because it smelled of mold and it just looked dirty. The other room she showed us, we asked if the couch pulled out she said yes, later when we started to settle down, there was no pull out bed for my kid to sleep in. For the price I paid this place was a dump. Btw the wifi comes in and cuts out, if you have a hotspot your better off with that

Best hotel in town. In the very center, but very calm and nice. Balanced between classical and modern.
