A few years ago I asked a young women working the hotel desk to recommend a pastry shop. She said Parisians go to Maison Mulot even when others are closer. From my first visit I have been the same. It is extraordinary. The goods are fresh and flavorful without being overly sweet. I've begun to get quiche and salads here for picnics and quick meals. My favorite items is the cherry tart that is made as a big sheet and you tell them how big a square you want.

Google
Sooo delicious! We tried their strawberry cake, citron merengue tart, chocolate cake, and chocolate tart. Everything was incredible. I love anything citrusy so their tart was my favorite but so was everything else!

Brian Chien

Google
The canelé was just okay, but the strawberry tart was pretty good. The staff were quite friendly.

This place is beautiful. We ordered 6 macarons and they are DELICIOUS. They are so fresh, I could even describe them as “juicy.” They also have some creative and interesting macaron flavors. We also had a pain au chocolat and it was very good. The staff who assisted me were very friendly and kind.

Google
Delicious macaroons hidden in a nice neighborhood in Paris. Friendly customer service, willing to speak your language. Macaroons were very crunchy and full of flavor. It doesn’t fall behind the major famous patisserie in France. My favorite was passion fruit followed by pistachio and hazelnut. Would love to have tried other goodies in the store. Will definitely be back!

Google
Amazing pastry place! Asthetically beautiful to behold all the pastries presented. I'm just astounded by how Pariseans stay thin with all these lovely food around. We bought a box of macaroons and their candied chestnuts. We just returned home (in the US) and have devoured at least 3 chestnuts already...so good! Their friendly and professional service helped presented the boxes so we can give them away as gifts. Definitely a must try!

Google
Great croque monsieur! Very professionally done and worth the 6€ I have to say. The portions may not be as generous as in other bakeries in Paris, but still very satisfying.

Staff members are very friendly. One shame point is that the process of cashiers is very unorganized (even though we order first, they put priority to those who buy pain). All the cakes are tasty and delicately made, and you can eat dish outside. They sell deli, too. The box they put their cakes is individual. This is neat.

Yelp
Fantastic place to pick up a bit of everything. The Luxembourg gardens are right nearby so you can stop here and grab everything you need for a lovely little picnic. There are hot snacks (sandwiches, soups, quiches), pastries (croissants, Pain au chocolat, etc) and sweets (tarts, chocolates, macarons) We had a little bit of everything and they were all fantastic. The almond and chocolate pastry was a big winner for us, and I really enjoyed the quiche. Service was quick and the staff was so nice. Took the time to answer our questions and wrapped everything well for the walk to the gardens.

Yelp
Seating area is very small so it can get crowded easily. Lots of customers for the items at the rear of the store such as freshly baked bread, their delicious powder sugar chocolate crossaints with or without almonds and other pastries. I came here for breakfast 3 times during my trip!

Yelp
Macarons are about 2 euro each. You order at the counter and pay at a separate counter. Service was friendly despite my lack of French. I enjoyed the almond macaron the best. There are also plenty of breads to choose from. Sorry no pics- I ate the macaron on my walk!

Yelp
This place is amazing! Their desserts and pastries are reasonably priced and so decadent, yet not overly rich. I bought one of my favorite French pastries that's difficult to find in the States: une tarte au poire. They have huge pear tarts but also small ones too for smaller groups. The financiers were unique and different, they had savoury items, and the coffee was strong. Because we were in a hotel, we only ordered ready to eat items, but I'd be willing to come back and try tartelettes that need to be reheated or larger cakes that need to be refrigerated. Their macaron cakes looked amazing. Authentic patisserie shop where everyone can find something they love. I come here at least once or twice per trip, and there are no regrets! Only con is super limited seating (1 table for two inside, 1 or 2 benches outside). It's definitely a to go spot, but I still love it!

Yelp
I was lucky enough to have my hotel right across the street from this place and WOW! I tried about 10 different things here over the span of a week and was utterly impressed with everything. The standouts for me were the quiche (all types were good), jambon campagne (ham and Gruyère sandwich), and pain au chocolat. You can't go wrong with whatever you order so enjoy! Also the staff was super friendly and accommodating of my terrible French lol

Yelp
Loved all the food and pastries here. My friends and I had to stop by here every single morning. That's how good it was. Wish I was in Paris longer to try more stuff. I was like a kid in Willy Wonka's Factory. I bought everything from croissants to foie gras pate to artichoke/olives. Ps the customer service is amazing too.

Yelp
Delicious patisserie in Paris! Sweet & savory...get one of everything! Great service, delicious coffee. Highly recommend

Yelp
Cute bakery with cheap baked goods and variety of options! I got a regular and a chocolate croissant here. They were both a bit dry and tough in texture. This bakery makes for an easy stop for a quick bite!

Judith R.

Yelp
Went to this bakery almost everyday while in Paris. The pastries were amazing. I would definitely recommend this bakery.

Yelp
Macaroons! Just back in Paris, and picking up supplies to enjoy on our terrace, and had walked past this cute little shop on Rue Lobineau on our last visit. Mason Mulot has a variety of products, from patisserie to pate, but I went for six of their macaroons: chocolate, pistache and coffee -- all an explosion of flavor, with crispy shell. They did not last long!

Yelp
Gerard Mulot had my favorite croissant that I have ever had. After checking into our hotel a block away, we headed straight to Gerard for a croissant and some pastries. Although the store is not very big, there were plenty of options for breads, pastries, sweets, and of course, their famous croissants. You start on one end of the store for your pastries, sandwiches, etc, and you get a ticket of your order while they box up your order. You then take the ticket to the cashier, where you can select more breads, etc. I like that they take credit cards at this store. Here are some things that I tried: Croissants: I wanted to true experience, so I only ordered the plain ones. Wow, so flaky and buttery, my new standard for croissants. Apple and raspberry tarts: these were really good, with nice fruit taste Macarons: nice selection available Overall, we stopped by Gerard Mulot about 3 or 4 times during our three day stay in Paris. I will definitely return when back in Paris.

Yelp
The strawberry tart was amazing - the pain au chocolat and the sandwich I got were both just ok. 5 stars for the strawberry tart, but unfortunately 4 stars for the whole thing. I will be back, for perhaps a larger strawberry tart this time!

Yelp
They have a little bit of everything & all that I tried was deelish! The pastries were so tasty that my mom went there 3x during our stay. They are conveniently located at the corner and have 2 entrances and exits. Not much seating but you do have the option to sit. I gave 4 stars because my mom and I ordered separately and paid separately but they put our orders in the same bag and when we asked the gentleman to separate them he seemed a bit irritated. The boxes were taped so we didn't check to make sure we had our correct orders. We parted our separate ways and later found that we had each other's pastries. This could have been avoided had we each been given our individual orders in the beginning. Fortunately, that didn't take away from the flavor! Would definitely visit again!

Yelp
By far the best Macaroons I have ever tasted. Best ones yet. Busy bakery but it's worth the walk and the wait.

Yelp
This is the definition of a French bakery. My goodness. But it is so much more than a bakery too. We walked in the front door and were greeted by a wall of bread on the other side of the shop. Beautiful baguettes, rolls, sweets glittering with sugar... To get to the bakery part of the boulangerie, you had to walk down the length of the counter, which was filled with cases of luscious food. We were particularly taken by the dazzling array of quiches. It is definitely the type of place that is part market and part restaurant, and if I had more time, I would have totally eaten a lot of food. This is also where our tour guide showed us these amazing little donut balls made out of patachou (the same dough they make cream puffs out of) and coated in heavy cube sugar. Ingrid, our tour guide, told us it's common to get a dozen of those and a coffee and make that breakfast. They are like the best version of Munchkins or doughnut holes EVER.

Yelp
Meeting the French. Of course one is expected to meet the French while in Paris, but I'm referring to the popular tour which takes you inside Gerard Mulot's bakery, spending time in each section of the kitchen: macaron room and chocolate room. You get an introduction into the art of making macarons (see all the cool equipment, ask the patissier for all his secrets!) and chocolates. I did not take the tour, but am compelled to mention it because it was such a great experience for a close friend and his wife. They so loved it, that they kept returning to Gerard Mulot to sample different desserts and macarons - to the exclusion of other, critically acclaimed patisseries. So, as deference to their judgment, I feel I must identify what could be a really cool experience for visitors to Paris... What I remember most about Gerard Mulot is how crowded the shop was with locals. I suppose it's the location, but I definitely think many of the other patisseries I visited to had a lot more tourist clientele. The staff was helpful, and described (briefly) to me the various pastries and macarons. I quite liked the flavor combinations at Gerard Mulot, eventually purchasing four: Rose with Cherry, Mint Leaf, Pineapple Ginger and Strawberry Poppy. I found the combinations different, but not weird - unlike some combinations at other shops that I thought were weird just for the sake of it! Just one bite of the macaron, and you appreciated both the texture and flavor. I also tried three pastries from here: Palerme: shortbread topped with pistachio mousse, enrobing a centre of dark chocolate mousse & kirsch soaked dark cherries, topped with fresh fruit (strawberries and raspberries) Duo poire caramel: biscuit with walnuts and rice krispies, pear mousse, caramel mousse, caramel icing Coeur Frivole: chocolate almond biscuit, milk chocolate mousse, dark chocolate mousse, almonds, dark chocolate ganache They were all good, though not transcendent - and have been favorably profiled in other reviews as well. The one I liked most was the Duo Poire Caramel, with the delicious, translucent caramel icing, and the creamy (though not intense) caramel mousse playing starring roles... Would I be back? Only if I were in the area. Sailors are said to have a sweetheart in every port... In Paris, tourists should find amour in every arrondissement... ;)

Yelp
This. This is why I love Paris. I have a 17 year relationship with this shop and the quality and service has never wavered. Exceptional. The last time I was in Paris, Yelp was a small, largely unknown web site just getting off the ground. Had I been a member then, my review would be the same. Pricey, yes. But we tried a couple of other bakeries in the neighborhood and agreed: not even close to the quality. Worth every single Euro. Our favorites: quiche lorraine, eclairs, the baguettes, and the dessert pastries are small works of edible art. The baguettes are as good as we've found in four extended vacations here, that good. Want to stop to eat here? There is a small bar with 3-4 stools and the coffee is as good as the boulangerie. HINT: dear fellow American, if you find the staff is rude and that's part of your review, it's likely YOU are the problem. Petty. Witnessed it this morning when an elderly gentleman pitched a fit because he didn't understand the billing system and the way each item is carefully wrapped. Embarrassing. He should have apologized, but of course, didn't. I shall return again, and again. As long as I'm coming to Paris the rest of my life, if there's a Gérard Mulot I will be there, even if there's an ugly American in front of me.

Yelp
Everything is wonderful here but I am obsessed with their chicken and tomato sandwich. The bread is fresh of course but the chicken and tomatoes have so much more flavor than what I can get in the US. My husband also loves the ham and cheese on a baguette. Can't wait to return
google avatar

Lisa F.

Yelp
For 6 macaroons, it is 13€. This is a lot considering there's another place charging 7€ for 6 macaroons. There are a lot of American tourists here. The people working here looked very annoyed with the amount of Tourists.

Yelp
Had a coworker who grew up in Paris tell me that this was his favorite bakery, so of course I had to check it out when visiting the city. It blew the other bakeries we had in Paris out of the water. Walked into the busy shop and was immediately wowed by all the wonderful smell and great looking baked goods and desserts. I wanted to order a little bit of everything but had to restrain myself. Ended up getting a pain au chocolat and a chocolate macaron individual. The pain au chocolate was incredibly soft yet flaky, with just enough chocolate in the center to not be overwhelming or too sweet. The macaron individual was wonderful but sweet so I was glad I split it with my husband because it was huge. Either way I'd totally order it again. Hoping to visit it again when visiting Paris and will be recommending to others!

Yelp
Coming to France we had to get croissants and the ones we got here did not disappoint. It was buttery and flaky, just the way we like it. Only surprise I had was it wasn't as airy as we expected, but it's also not freshly hot so we can see why. Regardless, it tasted amazing. We also picked up eclairs here, but it was only okay. I'd just stick with the croissants here.
google avatar

Dina M.

Yelp
A great quality croissant, crispy, flaky, and defined layers. I would have liked it to be a bit more buttery and chewy. Could be that I stopped by later in the day? However, their chocolate croissant is PERFECT!!!! In fact, the best I've tried and I've tried a ton... haha yeah maybe exactly a ton.

Yelp
My favorite privately-owned pâtisserie in Paris - and I have been to dozens of pâtisseries in Paris over the years. Yes, Ladurée is terrific (but it's a chain now) and the fancy shops with high-end pastry concoctions are fab (Pierre Herme, Odette, Le Meurice, Angelina, Jean Paul Hevin) but this is a neighborhood place that people in the 6eme frequent every day: for bread, for coffee, for sweet - and savory - bites that are gifts from the gods. Plus, they look beautiful. Everything is perfection: the morning cafe crème, the pain au chocolat, the basic croissant, macarons, éclairs, etc. And if you're not a fan of sweets, you can pack your picnic lunch with their savory salmon tart slices or veggie pies and bites. Yummm. The setting (rue de Seine) is what makes Gerard Mulot special, too. It is hidden on a side street, away from the bustling rue St. Germain de Près, and it feels like locals go there - because they do!

Yelp
Stopped in from some early morning pastries. Delicious. Small outdoor dining area. It was just what we needed.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
This is kind of like, a go to chain bakery in Paris, from what I gathered. That means that due to its popularity, some items will be sold out if you don't get them early in the day. They had a lot of desserty type things here such as macrons, but I only was interested in the baked breads. I was really tempted to eat a baguette, but I didn't have anything to have it with. In the end, I went with a pain au chocolate, and an piece of bread with apple/apple jam in it. Both were moderately priced, and tasted pretty good, but didn't taste significantly different from stuff I've had in other countries. Sure, it's a lot better than the au bon pains we have here in America, but probably not special enough to go out of your way and visit from far away.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Embarrassed to say we went here pretty much every day of our week long visit and nothing we had disappointed. Macarons were probably the best we have ever had and the Amaryllis was delectable. Chocolate croissants, kouglof, various tarts, baguette. Yep. We pretty much tried it all, and it was all extra tasty. But, the absolute best thing was the guy behind the counter who helped my daughter. She attempted to order her macarons in French (with zero French experience), and he smiled and corrected her with "close, it's xyz". When we got home we saw that he had given her three free macarons! So incredibly kind. So for those of you who are reading the reviews and seeing ones complaining about the service, maybe take that with a grain of salt and consider maybe the reviewer was the one not being considerate to the server.
google avatar

Jess C.

Yelp
Utterly disappointed. Dragged myself out of bed and arrived at 7:15 am. Asked if the croissants were hot. Was told that there are no set times for warm croissants. This goes contrary to everything I've heard. Cold croissants sit in my bag along with my bitter disappointment. Heated one croissant in the oven and left the other cold. Ended up heating both up, but was unimpressed. Eat a croissant in France and all your croissant dreams will come true, they told me. Golden gates of flakey, buttery baked goods will open and warm, steamy light from croissant heaven will shine down upon you. All other croissants shall pale and tremble before the specter of the One you shall try. Nope. Tasted a bit burnt and old. The macarons were also unimpressive.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Gérard Mulot quite by accident a few years ago. I had rented an apartment a block away and walked by their amazing window display of treats. You see windows like that in and around Paris all the time so I thought nothing of it at the time and continued on my way. A day or two later I was passing the store and saw the most amazing display of macarons. I had never had a macaron before and decided to go in and try one. Immediately the smells of the shop impressed upon me the delights that were about to be had. The eager staff greeted me and before I knew what was happening I was ordering a dozen macarons. So many flavors to choose from it was hard to decide. Oh, then one broke while they were preparing my box so the clerk handed it to me and said here eat and choose more. That was my first taste of pistache. Who would have thought a nut made into a treat such as this could taste so heavenly! Needless to say, the box was gone almost before reaching my apartment and a new addiction was born. Since that time, I have been back as many times as possible on each visit to Paris. I have tried other things of course. Many items are quite good. Nothing compares to their macarons in my opinion. The best time to go is in the morning when they are fresh and you have your choice of any flavor available. My favorites are pistache, cafe, carmel au buerre, framboise, citron and peche. They have seasonal flavors too. Don't be afraid to branch out and try them all! :)
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Gerard Mulot is one of the bakeries that was highly rated on Yelp, so like any good Yelper, I checked it out. It's a bit more casual at Gerald Mulot than the other fancy bakeries in Paris. Besides all the pastries, they also offer bread, quiche, sandwiches, and baked goods. The service is not as friendly as the other bakeries, but it's...eh OK. They do accept credit cards, but there's a minimum amount. They also have a small counter area with stools for you to enjoy your pastry goods. Macrons was - 3 stars Lemon Tart - 4-stars Croissant - 3.5-stars Overall, Gerard Mulot is a casual place to pick up some pastry goods or a good loaf of bread within a reasonable price.
google avatar

Brittany T.

Yelp
Nice choices for small quick lunch, great bread selection and pastries. Wish we found it sooner.
google avatar

Lissa G.

Yelp
I know this is a bold statement. I stand by it. The macarons are better here than at Laduree. There it is! So glad we had this on our list for a morning stop. I didn't see any coffee, but, one can learn to do without when there are tasty macarons! The display cases had so many other delightful looking things that I'm sure we could've come here every day of our trip and not have been disappointed. Here, you order what you want from the counter, take your receipt to the register to go pay, then go back to the counter to pick up your order. That could be confusing if one is not prepared for it. Confusion or not, go get some macarons!
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
I'm probably splitting hairs here, but Gerard Mulot's macarons are on par with Laduree. Yes, it was hard to believe for me that Laduree had any close competition but they do. What may give Grard Mulot the edge is the extra intensity of their filling. Mostly the same flavors are still the best here also. Try pistachio, salted caramel, and espresso. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Connie L.

Yelp
Everything inside Gerard Mulot looks so pretty, and the epitome of what I imagine that a French pastry shop to be. My top recommendation is their magie noir dessert, which is basically just layers of hazelnut and chocolate blended together to make a heavenly cream texture. This essentially just tastes like huge Ferroro Rocher in cake form. Honestly though, everything in this bakery tastes amazing. I had my fair share of basic croissants while in Paris, and somehow it tasted even better here. After you receive your wonderfully crafted dessert in Gerard Mulot's signature pink and white take out boxes, I would highly recommend walking over to the Luxembourg Garden a few minutes away (especially since there is little to no seating inside the shop). The gardens are the perfect place to peacefully enjoy your pastries set against the backdrop of scenery almost as beautiful as Gerard Mulot's creations.
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
This little gem-sized shop in the 6eme sells the most delicious baked goods, prepared foods and desserts. I ate the most buttery croissant here today. They also have terrific small sandwiches like clubs, shrimp and tuna or egg salad and also the larger baguette stuffed ones. I could not resist getting a millefeuille as well. Do not pass this place by. It is outstanding quality and taste.
google avatar

Ava C.

Yelp
Actual product was absolutely 5/5. The baguettes were so amazing I bought another after I left the store and tried a bite. I also got the chicken and tomato sandwich (there sre better around paris, but in a pinch a better option that what is around). The staff were not that friendly but whatever.
google avatar

Colin D.

Yelp
This is the best bakery I've ever been to. Literally. The baguettes they sell are better a day later than pretty much any fresh baguette I can find in the US and when they're warm (you just have to get lucky) it's one of the most heavenly things I've ever eaten. I think I've now eaten nearly 10 baguettes from here in 5 days. The pastries are equally good with both a mini-Christmas log and a macaroon having been stunningly good.
google avatar

Jones B.

Yelp
You Wont Find Better! Let me tell you something, these folks know macaroons, tarts and pastries! OMG, they are sooo good here...yes you can buy Macaroons all over Paris but they are truly fantastic at Gerard Mulot, not only are the macaroons great but the tarts and even the savory pastries are amazing.

Chelsea A.

Yelp
Wow the macaroons here were mouth watering good! I got the 6 macaroons to give a variety of choices to try. The coconut was absolutely amazing so if you like coconut it's a must that you get this. I didn't get a chance to try the Carmel one but my friends who did loved it!
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
I was very hungry and have a crazy sweet tooth! Why not give in while in Paris? The variety of goods in this shop was very large, and they had more employees in there than most patisseries/boulangeries. What I found interesting about most of their tarts and fine pastries was that they weren't aesthetically perfect which gave the products an aura of authenticity. I ended up purchasing brioche with chocolate for less than 2 Euros. It was so tasty! The brioche was moist and the amount of chocolate was perfect. Such a good deal. I'd happily eat pastries from here, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
This is my favorite go-to patisserie in Paris, and everything I tried was exceptional. The macaron were en point, and anything involving mousse was wonderful, especially the foret noir and the Coeur Frivole. I wish that I could have gone daily to try a different treat each time, as I'm sure that I never would have been disappointed. Just a tip - order your item at the counter, they will hold it and give you a slip to take to have stamped when you pay at the cashier, then return to the counter to pick up your item. Or items. Or in our case, many, many items.
google avatar

Tara S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite patisseries in Paris. The almond croissant is a game changer. The pain au chocolat is quite good as well. We got a couple bouché de Noel here over Christmas which were both outstanding.
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
This shop had a little bit of everything- pastries, baguettes, and even some savory food behind the glass case. We ordered a chocolate tarte and a canelé. The canelé was average in my book, but the chocolate tarte! Fantastic! We had a choice between a milk chocolate-praline tarte or a dark chocolate-coffee tarte. This was one of my top two favorite desserts I tried while in Paris. It was creamy, sweet, but with a bitter tang from the coffee and dark chocolate, with a buttery crust. SO. GOOD. If you're in the neighborhood, looking for something sweet look no further.
google avatar

Tommy F.

Yelp
Best croissants I've ever had - if you go, make sure you get two plain croissants, as one is not enough! We also tried some macaroons, which were good, but are equally delicious elsewhere. Gérard Mulot feels very French and has a nice atmosphere. Also nearby are the very pretty Luxembourg gardens (a block away), with many chairs and tables that you can sit on and eat after buying from Gérard Mulot; the bakery itself has very limited seating.
google avatar

Shannon N.

Yelp
There are lots of things here - and lots of customers and some chaos - but it was worth it for the most amazing lemon macaron. I got a small lemon macaron one day and loved it, then went back the next day and got a larger lemon macaron and was in bliss. Instead of a creme filing, it's got lemon curd. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Also really liked their chocolate eclair, with a very tasty chocolate custard. Still dreaming of that lemon macaron...
google avatar

Amrita M.

Yelp
Salmon quiche was pretty tasty. Macaroons were really great, best I have ever tasted. Stopped there on the last day of our Paris trip so could not try much, but will surely visit this place next time we are in Paris.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
Walking through the Latin Quarter, I happened across Gerard Mulot. Always a surprised when venturing through the streets of Paris, wandering away from the tourist scenes, away from the crowds, just entering anything that has pastries and sweets displayed against the windows! I ordered a few of their macarons, and they were the best I had while in Paris! There's always the same issue with macarons, a Russian roulette if you will, where if you bite in and they crack and disintegrate, you've happened upon a stale macaron. No bueno, burn them to the ground, and rebuild. If it's fluffy, chewy, moist, and heavenly... nuf said. You've eaten the ambrosia of the gods! Every macaron I've ordered here was moist, sweet, and bursting with flavor! With a 3/3, they've passed with perfect marks, and they're on my Parisienne list for life! Service was polite and helpful. Lots of people to take your order, with lots of deliciousness behind the counter. After enjoying their macarons, I want to return to try more of everything!

Yelp
Salted or sweet, sandwiches to best pies... perfect takeaway place for a dinner or a pic nic in the Luxembourg nearby. Crowded and expensive... great quality over quantity ;) An Apple Store is opening next door ...!!

Yelp
Cheap and good, the coffee, croissants, and quiche were all good.

Yelp
Can't stop thinking about this place. Best lemon meringue tart ever. The day I was leaving Paris I bought 2 and carried it for 2 days across 4 different countries just so my dad could have one and taste the amazingness. I carried that box like a newborn child. Can't wait to return one day!
